Post what you feel Konami changed from PES3 in Pes4 that you don't like:

-i find the standing keeper annoying i feel konami messed this one up

-trying to play corners from short is different now

*posting this based on what i've seen on the pc demo

1. They? no longer walk onto the pitch carrying the flags :(

2. When taking a corner/free kick you do not see the power meter until you press the kick button (this annoys me the most)

3. CPU team mates are in the worst positions when receiving headers

4. The replay music . . . I liked the dramatic music in WE7, it really got me into the game - I don't like the new tunes at all.

- in replay mode, camera views too low. and replay function disabled immediately after ball is over line.

- keepers sometimes seem to have magnetic gloves. they dont deflect the ball so often.

- through passes definetely too easy this year.

they are bad and good things this year, yes i realy hate the replay in pes4, in pes3 it wos preefect, the shooting system wos better and the first time voley felt better in pes3, which now the ball fills to light and shot is weak and hard to master, the thing annoing me the most is when i want to woley the ball first time shoot, am not gonna voley the ball, am gonna header insted i don't know how to explayin it probably but that its happen very often.
i played the game for a month now sinc it came out in ps2 and am loving the game, and i thing u get use to all this things. the game in general is better then pes3, like passing sistem (short&long pass) and the throw ball works great, player movments, now players run where u aspect them to run, anyway this game definitly will keep me plaing untill pes5 comes out.

I listed my pros and cons here (http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&postid=1562053&highlight=highlights#post1562053) so I'll just paste here just cons (I cut off these which I changed my mind after playing more):

- passsing, tooooooo much outside of foot, way too much
- throw ins, there should be some indcator showing you where player gonna throw ball, long throw ins has nice animation but I really don't know wher he's gonna throw it then

- stuupid keeeper, known bug from PS2 versions, I scored too much goals when keeper just stands and watch the ball, huge bug, it should be a feature like handplay in pes3 but it's just too much overdone

- terrible manual camera angles during replays, there are: low, lowest, the lowest and bird's eye, WTF?? previously pes3 cameras had good height, good to see action, now it's crap; I must to see highlights to see my goals from good angles

- too sharp graphics (at least on my PC), it looks like they used "sharpen" filter in Virtual Dub
- wide camera is a bit too low

about the replays, I actually like the zooming and the camera-angles, gives a filmlike touch to it :)
About the music, doesn't anyone put off commentary and Music (I totally hated those technoliketunes in PES3) and just puts on winamp :D feels a lot better playing to my fav. songs instead of listening to the repetitive and monotone commentary :)

Mayor

commentary in pes4 may be crappy comparing to fifas but it's better than in pes3 so I mentioned it as its adventage, not as one of cons
music is a thing of taste and I like it better than in pes3 ;-) but when as soon as full will be relased I'll change it to one of ps2 music patches, hope they will fit into pc afs

- passsing, tooooooo much outside of foot, way too much i agree

shots are also too fast and the ball flies too low i think...

* generally, the gameplay is too fast, twice as fast than real thing
* as Mayor said, replay cameras are low, lower and lowest :(
* standing keepers, not only when conseeding goals, but also when the ball goes milimeters wide. They have a cristall ball so they ALWAYS predict that the ball will go wide so they don't even bother to strech a hand.:P
* unlike pes3 balloonball, now it's made of hollow plastic and is extremely bouncy
* ball tends to go up, sky high after slightest touches, especially when there's scramble for it between two players
* midkefield is absolutely abandoned, I usually played a lot of Barca type midlefield build up play, making many passes across the field, now it isn't so usefull anymore, you're forced to make quick long passes to flanks motly
* because of previous point, hence the gameplay now is not only faster, but also more arcade style; quick, stright forward passing is preferable above smart and patient build up, combining short passing and skillfull dribling
* graphics are really too fecking sharp, but someone said that it might be due to non existent antialiasing in the demo
* also the in game camera angles has got worse; I use to play broadcast cam 1 angle 9, but now it's too close to the pitch(like in Highbury) so I can't see the whole picture; wide camera is fine, but I don't like players to be so far away; normal cams are as ever, but the further one was better in pes3;
so no really decent option for me
* now it seems that shooting is even more dependent on your players position towards goalmouth, if he's not running stright at it, the shot will likely go wide.
* headers seem to go over the bar 80% of time, not wide not, weak, but over the bar
* stretchers on the field every mgame even playing 2 minutes match
* unnecessary outside of foot pases
* unremovable radar :f***:

yes headers are difficult to perform (which i find realistic btw). my tip is, to use supercancel to position your player when ball is in air (move player ~1m back). i scored lot of headers since i got this out with supercancel.. it really helps a lot.. :)

* unremovable radar :f***: I guess you played with default settings? go to formations -> quick settings and choose some ready made system, eg. zone press, center or counter attack, it helps for me
by default midfielders have run arrows back so midfield is uncovered

about radar, there is a patch for it for full version remmoving it but, as you said wide angle isn't so wide as in pes (or WE which always has longest highest views)) so practically without radar you're blind :/

OK, this is more like overalll feedback, not so PES3 to PES4 changes summary, but I hope you don't mind :)

Sometimes I wonder - do the people @ Konami ever read fan feedback? How could they release something with KNOWN bugs and gameplay thoughtlessnesses (lol what a nice word). I hope they'll do fixed WE8 PC.

My cons:

Non-gameplay:

Still can't set keyboard to Player 2 - only Player 1. GRRRR!!!

The referee's movement sucks - I prefer no referee at all. He is running like a chicken with its head off. Also, where are his sideline colleagues? I know putting an extra man ot the pitch for PS2 is pain in the ass and takes a lot of optimization, but that's not an issue on XBox or PC. Why do they always have to simply port the game, and not take advantage of the more powerful platforms...

Based on the last sentence:
The crowds and support personal are fugly.

The commentary is tragic. As always. I wanna hear the spanish one :)

The menus suck some major butt - Damn, the PC monitor is not your 320x240 TV with blurring effects.

The radar - I play with it enabled, but still from PES3 I hated how it gets in the view down the pitch. They could have made the camera pull back more, so the ball near the touch-line would be in the center of the screen, and not in the bottom.

Initial replays are fast as hell, wtf? Also as noted - the controlled replays' cameras are crap. Get the PES3 system back!

No Alt+Tab, Winkey, etc. Hated it with PES3 also!

Gameplay:

The goalkeeper's bug.

Throw-ins are... a bit confusing... maybe it takes time to understand how they work, but... we'll see.

I am getting sick of using the Super-Cancel to position the receiving player for 80% of the centered balls.

Game speed is slightly faster than it needs to be.

...

Most of the things the others already stated.

Also, I'm curious to see the online mode.

* Something interesting - I play with a friend of mine (that's why I hate the fact you can't set Keyboard to Player 2, because when I play alone, I have to use Player 2 and the keyboard in the beginning) and he said he really like the game, that it was way more realistic then PES3 and so on. Maybe its because he has been playing PES3 for a month or so, not more, but... My point was that we are maybe too harsh on Konami. On second thought - they deserve it! :P

Too easy through balls. It's just ridiculous, i mean, i'm playing WE8 a lot lately in my mates house, he's got a PS2 and a Sony adaptor, so it's 2v2. If you press the triangle it's just piss easy to leave someone alone with the opposing keeper.

- I hate goal keepers AI
first, when they "know" the canīt to the ball they donīt even try to stop it.
then, on 1 on 1 situations the block every damn shot, their had superhuman response, also they save every powerful shot in the aera no matter how hard it is.

when I play demo with unlimited time I use to minimize it to check mail or smth and then maximize again, maybe you turned it off in options or smth

Well, at first I thought it's because I play at desktop resolution (1280x1024). Then I switched to lower one but it was not working again. Also the suggested ALT+ENTER and then ALT+TAB won't do the trick... :(

too bad konami...
**Pathetic goalkeeping when shooting from far..They just watch the ball going into the net!I hope full version fixes that or a patch release i dont care.

**Hate the camera cause i cant see the goal post well and pitch..
In pes3 camera is way to better.

Back to pes3 which is great!until the release of pes4 full version.I hope konami will fix it.

I'm back to PES3 as well.

I love the new animations, they seem a lot more fluid and life-like, but a lot of other things are pissing me off and forcing me to go back to PES3.

- Super goalies that can easy block every shot or sense when the balls going out or off the post and don't need to move for it.

- Refs still suck.

- CPU still blocks almost every shot outside the box since they crowd it some much.

- Gameplay is wayyy to fast, it needs to be slown down past even PES3 speed to help us better set up the play.

- Still no better option for playing high balls, I can't judge how far on the meter I need to press that quickly esp. since I can't see the play except on the radar. I'd like to have some better crossing options, esp. something for crossing in from the corner of the box like most pros do.

Yeah, I'd like to go back to PES3 but it's just too damn easy. The games great but winning the treble every year gets annoying.

My main complaint this year is the effectiveness of the through ball. All's you have to do is tap the button and your striker is one on one with the keeper!

i forgot to mention that..Its way to easy when pressing through button to be one on one with keeper.Although im playing 3 stars so maybe in 5 its not the same..

quite simple, just play 3 as you wish.
(4 is much much better than 3!)

First of all. Before I post any comments I really want to play enough and say what I think.

The game has pros and bad points. In addition the game is no better than PES 3 at all. I think we hope a little more from Konami, and I think at least for me, I am very disapointed.

Good points for me:

- Referee (not a BIG change)
- Passing.
- The way that the keeper pass and voleys.
- The game is very HARD, more dificult than PES 3, this is a good point.
- The pitch and players body are improved.

Bad Points:

- I used to play PES 3 on my PC at 1152x864 and HIGH with an excelent performance and quality without slowdowns... but now I have slowdowns even at 800x600 medium. I can understand the technology improvement, but mate!!!!... I have Geforce TI 4200 128 MB, Athlon 2600+, 512 DDR 400 MHZ, SATA disc.... And still cant play PES4 with a good performance... I can say that is the worst part.

- Keeper... my goodness.... I think that keepers save the goals with the view some times...

- Yellow cards... every tackle is an yellow card.

- Gameplay has no improvements... I dont agree that PES4 is like FIFA, FIFA is not a soccer game, PES 4 still much better than fifa, but PES3 has better gameplay than PES4.

Thats all my mates... Maybe I am bored, but in some place I have to put my disapointment..., is like Matrix 3... still good but you were waiting for something that rock your world... ok I was hopeing that PES4 increase my adiction to play and being seat at my PC.

Kind Regards.

Mayor

- Yellow cards... every tackle is an yellow card.I could say it about PES3 but definitely not about PES4, referee decisions are much improved comparing to pes3 "touch opponent and got yellow or red" system
I tackled many times in pes4 and I only got cards after tackes from behind

manutd12
22-11-2004, 10:59:PM
yup tackles and fouls have really improved on PES4

Leeds4Life
22-11-2004, 11:29:PM
Yea, I agree. That was another thing that made me happy about PES4, not every sliding tackle is card anymore and I almost never get straight reds unless its the last man back.

The defence should stand around the penaty area not in the area when defending...or waiting for long shots!!

i think this depends on how you set up your defense (high, med, low, line of defense, sweeper, offside trap etc)
