Is it not R2 to take control?
But there is usually a team mate at the corner of the box, I usually (for a short corner) pass to him and dummy the ball or back heel it and a midfielder will run onto it and I have a blast.
Got one tonight the shot hit a player in the box and wrong footed the keeper he stuck out a boot and play it wide I got to it a lashed it into the net.
On headers? This works for me , I pulled straight down on the analog stick ( this means that the stick is aimed away from goal to not it ) and I get a good few headers in and some goals, If I pulled down and move it either down/right or left the ball sometimes goes in at the post or by it?
PS.... maybe that is one they will add in "Short Corner" It can't be hard, they have done it with the freekicks "one over the ball one to his side" Have it as an option as per freekicks.

I dont even bother to move the players around. I just wing it by adding spin etc to my corner kicks.

I agree, corner control seems much stranger. I seem to either wig them into the side netting or fly them wide of the box. Well, maybe practice will help, but I actually liked the PS2 idea of controlling the receiving player, though it seemed odd at first.
