I decided to make this thread so that I (and others) can alert people of any good films coming up on TV in the UK, so as to be sure not the miss anything :p

I'll try to update it each week if I can.

Not much on in the early part of this week, but it picks up. Conspiracy is definately the one to watch though, dont miss it.

Thursday 25th November Film Four 8:00pm - Conspiracy If you have Film Four, and are around at this time, definately do not miss this incredible film. Quite simply the best film about the Holochaust (except perhaps Schindlers List) I have ever seen, this is just pure brilliant in every way, the acting, the directing, the sets. It is an essential film to see, I highly recommend it - for me, it's undoubtably Kenneth Branagh's finest work.

Saturday 27th November BBC2 11:00pm - The Long Riders An excellent western, and definately a film worth watching for its originality and quality. A must see for all Kill Bill fans who want to see Carradine in another film, this film about the all to often covered subject of the James/Younger gang achieves total originality by casting real brothers as the brother in the gang. There is also an awesome knife-fight scene, and this is definately a film to watch if you get the time.

Saturday 27th November Film Four 1:45am - Fellini's Cassanova - Not one of Fellini's best films, infact one of his worst, but hey, the Italian master's work is not often exhibited on TV so grab the chance if you can, despite the annoying time. The brilliant Donald Sutherland takes the lead role in this very Felliniesque slant on the old tale, and while this is nothing compared to 8 1/2, La Strada, Amacourd, Satyricon etc, it's not a bad introduction to Mr. Fellini and his work.

G-Unit and whatever the hell Ja Rule's gang is called all need to be shot.

BTW, I think there's a Rambo film aswell on sometime this week, I havent looked into it as I hate Stallone, but some people may be interested.

KK here we go for this week, pick of the week is definately Taxi Driver, but much more good stuff out there.

Sunday 28th November Channel 5 3:30pm - The Battle of Britain Very occasionally, Channel 5 do put on a decent film in the middle of the afternoon, and this is one such occasion. One of the best old war films, definately one to watch for all fans of the genre, all fans of the great Lawrence Olivier or simply all patriots. Dont rely on it for too much historical accuracy, however.

Tuesday 30th November Sky Movies 2 11:35pm - King of New York I'm not gonna make a habit of putting sky films on, but this one is definately worth seeing and one you might not see elsewhere. The brilliant Christopher Walken takes the lead role, and does it to absolute perfection. A gritty, hard to find film which you should see if you can.

Wednesday 1st December Film Four 10:00pm - Taxi Driver - Possibly Scorsese and De Niro's best ever work, this is an absolute must see if you have Film Four. A really incredible piece of work, thoroughly original and with such snappy dialogues. One of the best films you are likely to see on TV, dont miss it.

Wednesday 1st December Channel 5 10:05pm - Enter the Dragon - If you have Taxi Driver on DVD, which could be the only possible reason for not watching it on TV, you may prefer to check this out. Probably the most famous and popular of all martial arts films, this really is a cut above the rest and probably the best example of the genre available to watch on TV. I am not a fan of Martial Arts films, but I love this. Definately worth watching, if only to decide you dont like it.

Other stuff I havent seen but looks good...

Friday 3rd December Film Four 12:10am - 1900

Saturday 4th December Channel Four 1:25am - Midnight Cowboy

I'm sorry if I may be off topic tad bit, but I saw this British movie on HBO with everyone falling in love, even the kids. The kids sang Christmas songs at the end, and the movie seemed to emphasize the airport a lot.

I thought you guys can answer it here since it's a UK movie.

I watched it last night and i must say it's the second best Western i've seen. I liked the way they used the slowness (don't know the proper term) when someone took a hit.

It is a very decent film, I love David Carradine's knife fight, and as I said the fact they are all brothers in real life makes it a very special take on the story.

To be honest i was just happening to be flickering through the channels and i thought this looks good. I missed the first 5 minutes but i did read about it here first so it was in the back of my mind if you know what i mean.

Looks like a very bad week for films this week, not much at all. The one to watch is definately Unforgiven though, a superb western.

Monday 6th December Channel 5 9:00pm - Unforgiven A really, really superb western, one of the best, with an awesome story and a great cast. Directed and starring Clint Eastwood, along side Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and Richard Harris, the oscar-winner is highly recommended for all. The variation in the cast ensures originality, and, despite being one of his first roles behind the camera, Eastwood's directing is unfaultable.

Wednesday 8th December Channel 5 9:00pm - Tequilla Sunrise Starring Mel Gibson and Kurt Russel, this interesting thiller isnt the best I've ever seen, but I decided to put it in as we're so sparse this week. The ideas are certainally very original, and it is well acted, and while it fails to keep the watcher too gripped or interested, it is still a decent enough watch. Dont sacrifice a night at the pub for it though.

Thursday 9th December BBC2 1:15pm - Jesse James - If, for some strange reason, you happen to be at home at this time, you could do worse than check out this extremely old (1939) western. It's one of Henry Fondas first ever Western roles, inspiration for casting in Once Upon a Time in the West perhaps?, and is a very decent portrayal of the famous train-robber. If you dont mind Black and White films, want to see a film starring a very decent actor and happen to be at home at this time, this may be for you.

Sorry I havent got anything else for you, it really is a bad week :( Watch Unforgiven though, you'll love it, trust me.

Look's like alot coming up this week, pick of the bunch is probably The 39 Steps, next Saturday, but there's alot worth a look.

Sunday 12th DecemberChannel 4 10:50pm - Bullitt A really superb film starring Steve McQueen in a genre which is so often done, but so rarely done this well. McQueen plays a hard-nosed police lieutenant who finds himself in danger when a witness is killed who he was supposed to be protecting. Definately worth watching, probably worth videoing, one of McQueen's finest examples.

Tuesday 14th December ITV1 11:00pm - A Fistful of Dollars The first in Sergio Leone's brilliant dollars trilogy of spaghetti westerns, this is probably the least good but still very worth watching. It's the film which first propelled Clint Eastwood to the forfront of his genre, the first in that remarkable trilogy, all of which should be seen, and a damn good film into the bargain.

Wednesday 15th December ITV1 9:00pm - The Fast and The Furious - To be honest, I've never seen this film (for the first time in my recommendations in this thread) but I have seen 2 Fast 2 Furious, and I'm assuming it's gonna be along very similar lines, ie technically quite poor, but full of big bangs, fast cars and hot chicks - exactly what you want on a Wednesday evening.

Thursday 16th December Channel 4 11:05pm - The Gingerbread Man - Another one of those films which is by a famous director, featuring a famous cast and is yet pretty much unknown. Directed by Robert Altman (M*A*S*H, Nashville) and starring the magnificant Kenneth Branagh and the even more magnificant Robert Duvall, this is a thoroughly watchable thriller about a lawyer who falls in love with his waitress, only to find she is being stalked by a psychopath. Alright, it sounds tacky, but with that cast and director, could it possibly be bad? No, it couldnt.

Saturday 18th December BBC2 3:45pm - The 39 Steps - I dont care what anyone says, I still stand by my statement that this is the best Hitchcock film. Even die hard Psycho fans wont deny how brilliant this is, and you really should take the oppertunity to see this masterwork (trust me, it's hard to get hold of the 1935 original) while you can. Is it worth cancelling your Saturday plans for? Yes. Or video it like I'm planning to do.

Saturday 18th December Channel 4 9:20pm - The Talented Mr Ripley - There arent many films made about scamming and con-artristry, but what there are is pretty good. For all you people who have just heard of Jude Law in 2004, or 'The Year of Jude Law' as I call it, this is a good oppertunity to see a bit og his earlier work, and for everyone in general, this is an interesting and watchable film.

Other stuff I havent seen but might interest you...

Tuesday 14th December Channel 5 3:40pm - A Christmas Carol - Festive I guess

Thursday 16th December BBC2 1:15pm - Black Beauty - If you like that sort of thing...

Saturday 18th December BBC2 9:20pm - Stage Beauty
- Hey, Claire Daines gets her baps out apparantly.

Saturday 18th December ITV1 10:45pm - The Whole Nine Yards
- If you like bangs and things.
