This is Nicky, webmaster of FIFA 2000 Online.

As you can see I have posted the answers that I received from EA Sports at FIFA 2000 Online. EA Sports has asked me to send them another 3-5 questions.

Please, if you have any questions that you want me to forward to EA Sports, please reply here. I will pick the best questions and send them out later this week or early next week.

Question:
How difficult would it be to dribble defenders? Would we have to press complicated combination of buttons for rarely seen movements or just with the D-Pad?

Nicky: I don't know if you share my opinion but I consider that in FIFA 99 it's too difficult to dribble (or too easy to tackle) making the game unreal and un-fun, it would be better if, as in previous games, just with handling the D-Pad you could evade defenders.

Kadenz

Yeah I share the same feeling too about dribbling and tackling. I guess the one of the problems is that the speed of the game is unrealistically fast. So my question will be: will we be able to set to a lower speed (in FIFA99 there's only normal, fast and very fast).
Of course, if EA has already fine tuned the speed issue that will be great http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Question#2: can we control the goalkeeper a bit? Like when an opponent cruises into the penalty box, we can press a button and the gk comes out instead of having the computer to decide.

Thanks.

Internet play:

How did I guess this wouldn't be included?

They say it wouldn't be enjoyable but this is total BS. If you go into multiplayer in FIFA 99 you can select modem play. There is no modem requirement, it could be a 9600bps modem and I guarantee that would be slower than a 56k modem across the internet but it's still allowed.

If EA put the effort into it they could easily design network code to make FIFA 2K playable over the internet. If it isn't fast then the user can get a better internet connection.

Will there be a home and away crowd with better songs and chants?
Will there be more South American teams?
Is the game play slower?
Will the jerseys finally have three color stripes?
What teams will be in the rest of the world section?
Will shooting from long range be more realistic?
Will the goalie make more realistic saves?
Will the pitch be bigger?
What stadiums will the game have?

Like i posted on the main page yesterday, EA Sports changed the special moves to only one key, so you don't have the press alt+w or alt+r etc to.

There will also be no 2nd division teams.
I posted both these questions on the main page yesterday.

Keep on posting questions... I'll be picking the best ones.

Are we gonna be able to control the direction of a shot ? Up to now, the direction of the shot was controlled automatically (not very realistic, don't you think).

Why there is no Russian league (rank # 7 in UEFA rating)?

I want a specific answer.

Will such teams in "Rest of the Europe" like Spartak, Lokomotiv, CSKA have true skills? Not that crap like last year.

Nic,
just reasure me that the gameplay is NOTHING like FAPL STARS(I personally think that game sucks-the passing is sh***!!)
The other thing i've noticed from what members have said is that when playing on world class level the speed of the game is too fast.I have found that initially it does seem quick but, like anything else, the more you play and want to win the easier it seems to get!I still lose games(that's realism for you!)but i never feel like "the computer has made it impossible for me to win".The sad fact is i missed a hatfull of chances but still only lost 2-1 or 3-1.What do other members think?Just for reference i play in world class level with the speed set at normal.
I can't wait to get my sweaty paws on '2000!
Regards to all.

BRAZILIAN TEAMS!!!!!!

Comeon, admit it, Brazil deserves more teams than just 8!! I bet ANY Brazilian team can hang with the best from Europe. Palmeiras is competing in the world finals agains Manchester, and other clubs like Gremio,Vasco ect... have won so many European cups, they are ranked as the best teams in the world!! Where do you think all those good, and expensive players come from? Brazil is a BIG,no, HUGE soccer(futebol) country, it deserves to have all of its primary clubs(thats at least 18 of them,24 if you wanted to argue about it) included in FIFA 2000. FIFA 99 was a joke. Only 8 Brazilian teams(most of the best left out by the way) and no South American stadiums at all! Do I have to remind people where the biggest stadiums in the world are? Heres the answer for you slow folks: BRAZIL!!! So in short, include ALL the primary Brazilian clubs(if you did it with Italy,England,Spain ect...you can do it with Brazil) and South American stadiums. Think about this!

The question is if the teams will have real rating?..sorry but last year, English teams was overrated, but Italian, Spanish, German, French teams are the same good and maybe better, real joke was the rating of portugal legue an rest of europe teams rating. I heard that is US is said that English legue is the best, but that isn't true.

Will there be any different rules and regulations concerning the number of yellow cards a player recieves through out the season ? For example, each league and cup has its own rules that determines a player being banned from a match by recieving a few number of yellow cards. In the Champions League if a player recieves 3 yellow cards, he will not take part in the next match, whereas in the Bundesliga a player is banned after collecting 5 yellow cards.

Will we have Euro 2000 ? How about having different number of susbstitutes on the bench in each league and cup. In the Premiere League, there are 5 players sitting on the bench, whereas in the Bundesliga, 6 players sit on the bench, and in the Champions League and Uefa Cup, you can have up to 7 players sitting on the bench.
If we're going to have domestic cups, will they be similar to the F.A. Cup, Coppa Italia, Copa Del Rey, Amstel Cup, etc... As you know, these cups have their own format, some involve a single match knock-out, while others are two legged matches, including the final.
Concerning extra time, will we have the option of deciding a match by either a golden goal or not. In other words, if we're playing during e.t. and we get to score, it would not be considered as a golden goal. We would have to play the whole extra time.
I hope EA SPORTS will cosider everything that is mentioned above.

my Question is will they go by the fifa rules as in goalkeepers holding the ball more than 6 seconds like in fifa'99 when you were losing the goalkeeper held the ball so long and wasted too much time and 2 will they rule you offside when you scored a clear goal but just cause the player is in front of you the ref dissallows the goal and even when you shoot from far away,I will really apreciate it if you would send these important questions to EA Sports nicky because I think they should go buy the Fifa rules...Thanks... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif

Another question about "dead time".Is it possible not to have "dead time" inside the game ? That is, when we are awarded with a corner, a free kick etc, to be able to execute them without waiting the opposite defense to organize themselves or make a wall etc.

HOLA QUE ONDA!!!
Well I put a question in the forum why don´t the Mexican league, but in this I have to ask Why don´t more leagues like the RUSIAN the MEXICAN (AN EXCELENT LEAGUE), and why not the JAPANESE, I think the leagues in the game don´t have to be the best in the world, Do you remember the MALASYA league?
It give to the game MORE variety, more teams and a game more complete.
Well I wonder easports take this question like and sugestion to.

I got interesting questions...

1st - Would we be able to create our custom teams/like europe all-stars, etc./ without using an unofficial editor?

2nd - Is in the game abbility to make a player captain of the team? If yes it would be nice to see this player to shake hand with the captain of another team and if the team will win a trophy, the captain will be the firs one to pick it above his head.

will the game allow for the editing and creating of players during season modes? In fifa99 you were
only able to use players that were already created from outside before the season started. The thing
is that sometimes you wish to change a number or add someone who made a midseason transfer
from a team that wasn't on the game before..
This would be good to have...

In fifa99 i couldn't get much low volleys on my sqaures from the wing, even if i put the ball up in the
air using that same player he was unable to stand on his feet and volley the ball.
Don't get me wrong i like the fancy bicycles and stuff but sometimes a nice standing volley would be
just as good and maybe even better...
So will fifa2000 allow me to do this shot better???

Possible questions for EASports

1. What is the technical reason that explains why the pitch size is so small compared to the players in FIFA games? I think it's pretty obvious for someone who has ever seen a match on TV that the players are giants in FIFA! I also think pitch size plays a great part in soccer tactics, so there should be more space to play the ball. In real life, you only find little spaces when BOTH 22 players are on the same side of the pitch.

2. Have jerseys/kits been improved in any way? i.e. greater resolution, greater number of kits available (interesting if you plan to edit them), more detail (such as non-symmetric sleeves, more colours and more varied ones, more shorts and socks, etc.)

I have a few questions about FIFA2000?
1. In FIFA99, the only way to pass through the opponent player is stepover, it is too unrealistic! Is there more special moves in FIFA2000?
2. I have read some replies from EA, it seems that there is still no linesman in FIFA2000. May EA consider our opinions from us to edit some substitutes sitting in the bench and linesman in FIFA2000?
3. May EA allow us to edit player to be a left-footed or right-footed player?
4.IN FIFA99, the goalkeeper can almost save or even receive the ball no matter how the shooting power is.It is more reasonable if a goalkeeper only parries it in front of or behind the goal.

Ric, in general I think you do a great job running the site but the question you sent in about camera angles has already been answered in the GamesReactor article on this site. There will be four camera angles but with zoom and height adjustment. Could you send in a question about what South American or Rest of the World clubs are included.

Ric
01-10-1999, 04:47:AM
I'm not sure what you're referring to there greglato.

I sent EA Sports a number of questions yesterday... but none had to do with camera angles.

I honored my friend Chris Davies and all the work he put into the ESP patch by allowing him to select the quesitons I submitted.

Here is the list of questions I sent:

1. In one of the 2 FIFA 2000 preview movies available to download from Soccer Gaming (NOT the one featuring motion capturing, the one featuring that fantastic piece of skill against what looks like a Brazil side! Classic6.mov is what it is called in one of the .ZIPs, and it's unzip path is MEDIA\VIDEO\CLASSIC...), an obviously VERY talented player takes on a few opposition players with some simply STUNNING moves - Will those actually be possible to make in FIFA 2000 by the human player?

2. I was just playing World Cup 98, one of the older games in the FIFA series, and I realized as I saw England winning the 1966 world cup, as they were running around the pitch celebrating, the crowd was lifeless. This is a major atmosphere killer, and I was wandering, will the crowd in FIFA 2000 be animated at all, and to what extent if so (just moving flags? Standing up when goals go in or nasty fouls are made to their supported side? The same as FIFA 98 : RTWC - Just a little bit of crowd movement closest to the pitch? Etc., etc.)?

3. Will the controls be the same as FIFA 99 (not exactly, of course)? I heard somewhere on the world wide web that some moves usually involving the player having to press a number of buttons are being planned to be made with one button. Is this true? With what, exactly?

4. Another thing that my Dad noticed while playing World Cup 98 was the nice effects on the turf, like visible marks around the goal area (the ground worn down to mud). Will anything like this feature in FIFA 2000?

5. It came to me the other day that, while watching the preview movie I was talking about in question 1 (and, come to think of it, the other one as well, featuring motion capturing), the players doing the moves in some places were FIFA 99 players. Are all of the player models in FIFA 2000 going to be original ones, or will some FIFA 99 ones still be in there too?

6. If, for example, you play in the English Premiership (sorry, it's the only one I know about!), and because of the cups-in-the-season-schedule thing, would you be able to take a Premier team through the F.A. Cup, Worthington Cup, and European cups or leagues (depending on the team you choose!)? And will they have authentic names, or will some have to be renamed, e.g. the English League Cup instead of the F.A. Cup, and the E.A. Cup instead of the Worthington Cup?

7. Are there any extra graphical features we should know about (like ones in World Cup 98 and FIFA 98 : RTWC that were not in FIFA 99)? For example, working scoreboards (just changing scores or GOAL! displays when they are scored)? Even a balloon from the crowd here or there?

8. Any TV style introductions (as reported by one preview), or will it all be just audio commentary on that front?

9. What is the feature that you are most proud of over there at the EA Sports FIFA 2000 team's work-place? Is there anything that has not been let out on the 'net about FIFA 2000 that you could tell us?

Hi all!
Here are some questions that i have

1. Game speed!!! fifa99 was way too fast
2. Team and players strategy in the game…… in fifa99 the options for changing team/players strategy were very limited. In fifa99 left and right midfielders were making such a stupid runs, but there was nothing u could do about it. How will the team/player strategy part of the game improve???
3. Will there be any patches with more leagues?
4. Will player stats and player create part be improved?
5. What teams will be in the "Rest of the World" league?
6. Will u be able to have world league work the same way as the set leagues, where they have cup and winners go to UEFA Championship League and UEFA Cup?
7. Will dribbling vs. defense ability be improved?
8. Will defenders go up also and be able to score goals from the game, not just a set pieces?
9. As a hole, team work in fifa99 was better then in previous years, but still not good enough. How will that improve?
Well, I think this should be enough for now
Will somebody answer at least some of those questions for me please?!?!?!

4.Can you choose your captain?
5.Will there be linesmen?
6.Can you see the dugout, reserveplayers, the coach, medical attention on the pitch like in ISS 98?
7.How many seasons can you play in a row?
8.Does your team improve if you are getting good results?
9.How many players may a team have? I hope more than 25.
10.In seasonplay will there be League, Cup and Europeancup in one season?

Is there a preffered foot for the players?
Will there be Supercups/Charity Shields?
Will there be different kind of injuries/Bans like in NBA Live 99?
Will the offside trap work better?
Will there be more succes from long range shots?
I heard about Players who will have a good form or a bad form. Will this be like NHL 99?
Will there be more statistic information during the game?
Will there be a price for top Goalscorers, assists or Fair play?
Will the levels be better? Amateur was to easy, Pro was fine but it wasn't nice to play, and World class was just inpossible to win.
Can you choose your own celebration after a goal?
Will there be additional leagues in add-ons?

Will there be Shoot-outs(one on one) in the MLS competition?

Goodsport

<< Will there be Shoot-outs(one on one) in the MLS competition? >>

I most certainly hope not! Especially since there's a strong possibility that MLS will get rid of the dreaded shootout by next season. There's also the possibility that MLS may have count-up clocks (like the rest of the world) by next season, as opposed to the count-down clock currently used.

If these changes occur, than MLS in FIFA 2000 could play by the same rules as the rest of the world (as they hopefully will in real life)! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
