knowledge 06-12-2004, 06:10:AM I have to study abroad as a requirement for my college Honors Program. I figured this would be the best place to ask this. I'm a BIG Arsenal and I like AC Milan as well, and I was wondering which would be harder to get tickets for to see a game. The whole damn point of the study abroad experience is to experience other cultures so I said **** it. I'll be there for a semester (right not maybe next year actually). How hard would it be to get tickets for either team and what would I have to do to maybe order them in advance?
Rocky 06-12-2004, 09:52:AM easier tickets-Arsenal
Better football(hate to say it:f***: ) AC milan
Walkeranz 06-12-2004, 10:01:AM I lived in Italy two years. It's easy as hell to get tickets. I never had a problem except with the derbys and champions league matches. I recomend Italy anyway, learn another language, the food, the people, the WOMEN! dear God the women. go to Italy, you will not regret it. Damn, the WOMEN!
Vagegast 06-12-2004, 10:03:AM You and about 5,000 friends can eaily get tickets for any game in Italy.
ronnifan9 06-12-2004, 10:06:AM Mexico:mexican: ....i would just pick England (cause learning Italian would irritate me....eventhough it has its similarities to spanish)........as for the better football: Arsenal....but AC Milan has one of my favorites=Kaka(Y)
..........but it is very true, ITALIAN WOMEN would be reason enough for me to choose Italy....too bad i wouldnt know what to say:( ...................England>Italy
You will have little chance of getting tickets to see Arsenal unless you have a bottomless pocket.
Bobby 06-12-2004, 10:55:AM Yea, until the new stadium goes up it's going to be pretty hard.
bjmenge 06-12-2004, 10:58:AM He could probably see Arsenal away. Or are all the EPL grounds always sold out?

no , nearly all the seats at highbury are taken by season ticket holders , I dont think you'd have any chance of seeing a game there.

enigma 06-12-2004, 10:10:PM I don't know how hard it is to get tickets to games in Italy but I've had no luck with Arsenal games. Yes, I have been trying. I looked it up 2 months ago, ******* ****s wanted to sell them to me for 200 squid. Heh. I'm Asian but I'm sure as hell not stupid. :p

shokz 06-12-2004, 10:27:PM I'd only recommend it if you live in North London though and you would probably have to get there as early as possible before the few leftovers are snapped up by everyone else.
There are usually a few hundred leftovers at Old Trafford(If we're playing a small diddy team) because some ST/LMTB holders cannot always make it or the away team don't sell all of their allocation. But you've got to get there early.

Go to bigsoccer.com
then go to the Arsenal forums and look for a poster named rickbreese. He always helps people get Arsenal tickets.
Enigma. You should message him ASAP since you're already in England and it would be easier for you 2 to hook up.

How can you say Italian football is better? They just defend defend defend defend defend and more defending!
We have the best free flowing attacking and entertaining football in Europe!
Hands down!!
Plus the premiership teams fill their grounds most of the time and it's not like sitting in a morgue.

If you would actually watch Italian football you would see that in Italy they defend as much as they do in England.
Defences in England just suck, makes it a bit more entertaining.
shokz 07-12-2004, 10:07:PM I still rate Italian football above English football because more teams in Italy know how to defend against the big teams. In England only Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have top class defences. Many(not all) other teams just sit back against the big guns with ten men and don't bother coming out until they concede.

Surely when you go to a football match you want value for your money? We get plenty of high scoring games in England which i feel gives better value for money than watching a more technical game which often finishes with a draw. Ok maybe the Italians prefer to watch a more technical game.
I'll rephrase my initial sentence. English football isn't necessarily better but it's far more entertaining, IMO.
Juventino 07-12-2004, 11:13:PM On average last season there were slightly more goals in Serie A matches then in Premierleague matches. ;)

I suggest you do your maths again:
Serie A - 816 goals for divided by 18 = 45.3 as an average
Premierleague - 1012 goals for divided by 20 = 51 as an average
;)
enigma 08-12-2004, 12:05:AM I don't know, in terms of entertainment I'd say EPL wins by miles. Technically the football in Spain and Italy are better.

In 160 games the EPL have scored a total of 420 goals
In 140 games the Serie A have scored a total of 340 goals
that's not to far off considering the EPL have 20 more games played
Also......
In 160 games the EPL have an average of 2.64 goals per match
In 140 games the Serie A have an average of 2.42 Goals per match
that leaves us with a 0.22 average goals difference, that's also not to far off, and the EPL have 20 more games played
wow, the Serie A is very defensive indeed:kader:
In conlcusion.....the Serie A is not defensive, we just have more competition:)
if you don't believe me: http://www.soccerstats.com/
TOON ARMY 08-12-2004, 12:33:AM You can throw all the stats you want at me. My point is the Italian game has more of an emphasis on defending. Slow build up play, sitting on goal leads, etc
The English game is much quicker with a greater emphasis on getting the ball into the back of the net, the whole point of football.
Therefore the English game is more entertaining and i get much better value for my money IMO.
santino 08-12-2004, 12:36:AM but then again, what kind of idiots would think there's a tactical and strategic point to soccer which could help get the ball in the back of the net
oh yea, the team that won 3 world cups doing it:)

Ah well, was wrong on that one. Saw on an other site that Italian matches had slight more goals.
But like Santino said, the difference is minimal. It does annoy me when it keeps getting labelled defensive, because that's the old stereotype.
mega montana 08-12-2004, 03:29:AM ain't nothing wrong with being labeled defensive, you are supposed to stop the other team from scoring, no?
Anyway, i've enjoyed watching serie a this year, i find it entertaining because smaller teams are no walkover for the bigger clubs.
A question for Juve fans though, why so many empty seats? Is it because the seats are so far away from the pitch? Games readily available on TV?
I'd think a team that has the talent of Juve, the fans would flock in to see them

It is an average; weeks don't go into consideration after he averaged the goals out per the teams.
Do it by weeks, it will just be divided by 2 again from the original number.
Now, I know you don't want to take on me :) So I will close the thread because this "Serie A vs EPL" is annoying, boring and just plain stupid.
