hey!!
this place is for all the newcomers at tcm....post all ur queries here and we'll answer...this thread will also have quite a few tips an trix....for a start after making your new club invest some money in the bank so u'll have more at the end of the season so then with that u can upgrade ur stadium and buy new players.

Jus' an obvious tip for a start...more comin' later:)

ok here's the 2nd one suppose u're managing a low club like below the epl and u wanna buy some top player then just do this go to that person(u have to be able to afford him!)and press make offer....now it'll come that he'll join ur club once it gets promoted to the next div. say ok then add him to ur short list. After getting promoted buy him....this worked for me as i just got promoted to the epl with my created club and i bought rooney this way

joni84

well with rooney you have goals for sure, hes great i really dont like him in real life but in my game he cant stop scoring for ManU

proxnet
21-12-2004, 11:05:AM
ya man that's tru...he was the 1 that scored against mufc..he scored both the goals......also

Here's another tip...
If a youth player is very talented and u want him in the future..do these steps....

1. according to his possition give him a mentor
2.Check if his school marks r bad cuz if they are he'll leave and terminate his career...so if his marks r bad it's always good to hire a private tutor for him.

3. If u don't wanna hire a private tutor and wanna think on a long-term basis build a girls boarding school which will also stop youth players from withdrawing from their football career

hope this helps:)

ok here's a big 1......

1. Try to limit your squad to a maximum of 25 players. If you have a busy campaign then 28-30.

2. Avoid paying players any more than 25,000 per week - this may vary depending on league division. Only your great players should be allowed to earn more than this or if a player may request it. Don?t buy players over 25,000k/week however. People have been saying this is impossible but this has been tested with Brescia (Serie A), Barcelona(Div 1.) and Napoli (Serie B) and its been working fine. Not every player is below 25k in my Napoli team. I have 4 players over 25k. But they are great players and "deserve" the wages (from 26-32k).

3. Rely on youth team rather than market. This is extremely beneficial for small teams in lower divisions. Youth players with Levels 5 to Level 7 will be very competitive in lower leagues. I promoted 7 youth players with Napoli and sold half my squad for a cool profit. I did struggle, but 3 seaons down the track I?m financially sound and 3 of my youth players are worth over 20 million!

4. Never spend more than 15-20% of your cash. I normally never spend over 6 million for a player. I have spent 8.9 Million once.

5. As soon as you start a season. Invest at least 15 million over 2-3 seasons. Do not take this money back as you will have to pay the banks.

6. Loan out promising players for a fee. Loaning out a youth player for cheap will make an easy 300k- 1mil profit.

7. Look at your accounting journal. Make sure that you will have a profit at the end of the season using the remaining months option.

8. Stadium tickets are very important. Instead of raising prices to get more cash, it?s best to reduce the price and get more fans...surprisingly you get more money.

To illustrate this point I have just been through my remaining matches and have done the following.

Put every match on Normal. I calculated the remaining months forecast profit.
Put every match on "reduced -25%" prices. The remaining profit raised by 300,000.
Put every match on "raised +25%" and I made a forecast loss of 1 million, from the original number.

So I performed the following task.

This is very time consuming but its best to predict a good annual forecast and gain a few thousand to a few million pounds!

Go to the Finance Menu. Click on remaining months. On the left side you will see the ticket sales forecast. The next home will be there, then a few weeks later then next home game after that as so on.

Note down the number on "normal" ticket prices. Then go back and change the ticket prices to "raised +25%" Note down the income forecast for that match again. Then go back and change to "reduced -25%". Then compare the three. Surprisingly lowering the price for a not so important game will raise fans by up to 30%. Giving you a bigger profit.

I also noticed that some matches already had a full house at "Normal". So I raised these prices and fans dropped by an average of 15% but the income was phenomenal. So careful planning is needed to maximise income.

However on a default level, lowering prices will give more fans and more sales.

9. If you don?t play using the manager?s private life options, then play for free. If you don?t get a salary you will save your team 300-1mil a year. Alternatively you can always donate your earnings to the club in times of need.

10. Don?t go rushing in investing on buildings. Shop smart. Buy buildings that will make you money. Buy one youth camp max at a time... don?t go splashing on other things that are not really needed.

11. Buy smart: If you can get a free deal buy 2 or 3 players and sell them off cheaply next season. Even if you sell a 2 million valued player for 1 million, its still a 1 million profit.

12. Check what expenses are coming out of your wages. Here you will see what you are paying for and where to cut back.

13. Avoid player Bonuses. Its best to bump a players salary a little than to give every player a "match", "goal", "championship" bonus. Bonuses sometimes amount to double the actual players salary. Make sure that when you are negotiating you avoid any bonuses. Please note that if you are playing a European cup and are playing several games a week, the "match" bonus may cause a severe loss in funds.

14. No player is worth over 30 mil pounds. Full stop. Unless you have 1 billion in the bank, it?s really not worth splashing out.

15. Spend only to please fans. Don?t be afraid to spend 5-10k for free tickets and busses. It will help you stay in the job, so some spending is ok. This does not mean you can buy players to make fans happy.

16. When Hiring staff, make sure you hire only the staff members that are absolutely required. When you are low on cash, save money by using the "do-it-yourself" policy. You may not get that 2% merchandising bonus, but you will save the $390,000 annual salary of that specific staff member.

You can easily survive with one chief scout and one assistant manager. There is no need to have a full scouting team to find that special someone. You can even have no scouts at all, and do a search yourself around the world. Of course you may need time to do this, but you will save thousands.

17. If you have insurance for every player, then un-tick/uncheck this. if you have insurance for every player it will cost you millions. With the financial structure imposed by these rules, when a player is injured, its cheaper for you to pay his wage than to play for insurance...(which covers his wage during injury).

18. Negotiate all sponsors deals your self. It`s very easy, and you can almost double your sponsor income.

To do this, turn off the finance help. If you do it before starting a game you get to negotiate main sponsor when the game starts. If you do it in a game already running, you get to negotiate when the current sponsor contract ends.

19. The same applies to advertising boards. Turn off the help and do it your self. Also turn off the 10% advertising fee for the AD agency. Some easy cash saved here.

20. Learn the merchandise part of the game. It`s also easy. The secret is to by supplies in large quantities (gets the in-price down, giving you a large profit on each item you sell). And concentrate on those who you sell a lot of, jerseys, scarves, t-shirts and the TCM games is also good. Try to keep all items in stock, but it`s only the ones I`ve listed you need to by loads of (if you don`t have a lot of time doing this).

I usually let my marketing manager run the show, but I "help" him to by super large quantities when needed (like 300 000 jerseys at 70% discount). Then I let the manager care for all the small items.

21. Selling your stadium name is one quick way to get out of financial trouble. Make sure that you have at least 90% popularity with the fans. I have tried it 10 times in a row on a few old saved games and the Fans percentage drops to 69% from 99%. If you have a good team, then it may be worth the risk...You can also improve this by following step 15!

22.
a) Do the maths. Work out the total wage bill from here. Make sure you can afford to pay the wages.

If you give a player:

10 000 a week (times 52) you`re paying him 520 000 a year.
20 000 = 1 million
25 000 = 1,3 million (My recommended maximum wage)
30 000 = 1,6 million
40 000 = 2,0 million
50 000 = 2,6 million

b) Staff Wage Formula. Ensure that your total wage bill is around 15% of your total Budget (Total cash). Maximum should be 30%. Anything over 30% should be cut down. This is the same rule for any sized club. Try and impose your own SALARY CAP (overall annual fees for entire squad). This will aid your team in avoiding financial trouble.

23. Expanding small stadiums. Is there real need? Example of a 14,000 seater stadium.

If you have a 14,000 seater stadium but you only get 5000 people in the crowd per game, there is no real need to expand. But if you constantly fill your stadium, then it?s an idea to expand your capacity. Having a small ground you won?t be able to expand much, maybe to 20,000-22,000. Have a look and see how much you can expand the stadium by. Also see what the cost will be. A new stadium is over 100 million. So lets at least start by making some more seats and then lowering the prices too. More fans will arrive making more cash and also giving you a good rapport with the fans.

Remember to work on your fan base, there are some buildings that do this, like transport, parking and so on, but don?t spend the millions if you haven?t got it... think smart. Check the points above. They do work for smaller clubs.

24. If your team is badly in debt or if you have had enough of the money problems. Perform an entire revamp of the playing staff. Try and keep your squad to a bare minimum. 18 players. This may mean selling up to 10 squad players. This can make you millions of pounds. Depending on what League you are in of course.

Emergency moves may need to be made in order to stay solvent. Here are some ideas :

Go to contracts and sort by wage. Then sell every player who ranks in the top 10, but isn?t a starter. Also consider selling under-performing "star" players.

Anyone over 25,000 (if you have any) weekly wage gets the chop too.
Then go to your youth team and promote all promising youth players. Even if they will just fill the bench spots. It?s needed to keep the club afloat. Youth players play for Max 1000 per week so this is your best bet.

This works for everyone that has financial problems, in any league or division. Its drastic but works a charm.

25. If a player asks for a pay rise, there is no need to make it 100% of his request. Usually 70% - morale/request is enough to make the player happy with his wage. If he is not happy, you can show him the door.

26. If you are having trouble selling players, then place them on loan with an option to buy. I have had large offers for players who no-one bid for while on sale. However while they were on loan with an option to buy, teams snapped them up the next season. Its a great investment because you get the loan fee and your transfer demand that was settled on at the time of the loan.

27. Finally, Going Public. This option can make or break your team. If you can hold off as long as possible and time it right, you can soar your finances into the hundreds of millions of pounds. Make sure;

a) You made a profit last year. Do this by following the guide closely.
b) You have at least 10 Million pounds worth in Buildings. The more buildings you have the more your overall worth of the club will be.
c) Make sure that your club is worth at least 250-300 million. You will get 49% of the clubs value. So this is very important.
d) Make sure that you are going well in the Maximum Division of your selected League. In the "Go Public" option it actually advised you if the team should or should not go public.

ok here's a tip for ppl. who have cr8ted clubs like me...if ur not gettin promoted (unlike me) send in ur talent scouts(must atleast be level3) to all weird countries or to some top clubs....he will force youth players to join ur team...this way i got some gr8 new players when i really needed them...cuz i'm 12th in the epl man!!!and it sux with the team i've got..so now i'm basically thinking on long-term basis

really a big one from proxnet!
i'm taping this on my manual :D

to add to point no 23 - Expanding stadiums,

if you got the $$$, remember to construct, expand and improve the carparks, train station, hotel etc... so as to get more spectators in future.

in my 2nd season with dynamo kiev, i have a average crowd of 12,000 spectators from a meague 6k to 7k in the 1st.

but i still failed to acquire the services of Fiore and Kily becos the freaking self centred board wont approve their salary!
so it is early exit in the champ league again i think..... :(

why don't u inc. their salary a bit then???Hopefully it will be approved if that also dosen't work get in some new young talent :)

recently found this in the official forums, is a tip to put text in the stadium, like this:
http://img157.exs.cx/img157/4876/forrest28ko.jpg

"On the selected stand you click the Details tab in the lower right hand side
of the stadium expansion screen.

In the details window that comes up, on the left hand side you have options to
put the logo on the stand, and a choice of 2 texts, you can choose your text,
text colour and text sizing. (But note that you can only have 2 texts for the
whole stadium, and on each stand its one or the other, however you can have
text 1 on the upper tier and text 2 on the lower tier to create for example:

NOTTINGHAM
----------------
FOREST

On the righ hand side you have options to change:

The amount of stairs there are in that stand
The design of the stairs
The position (high or low) of the stair entrace/exit lobbys. "

well, keep searching... keep training...

here's another 1.

If u have a player with gr8 talent and he looks promising for the future and his age is low but he isn't getting into the First 11 since there r older/better/more exp. players than him don't sell him off. Loan him off. Set up a very low price for loaning him on. Still if no 1 buys set the price lower. Your last resort will be No fee. Though u will loan him out without a fee u'll get a gr8 player cuz he'll get more more match practisce which means higher lvl. Keep loaning him on until u need him or no1 buys him. The last method will be to put him in the reserve team(if u hav a team in the reserve league).

Mostly u shud loan him on to some club which has jus' been promoted to your division. I suggest u use the reserve team as ur last resort since the match practisce he'll have by getting loaned will be more than that of the reserve league

Hope this helps :)

another 1 always take an offer for managing a national team if possible. The reason??? because you'll get paid even if u screw up..this way u have more cash which you can donate to your club. Currently i managing Israel and i've just qualified for the European Chapionships and for that i got 15,000 Pounds+Every month i get 3,000 Pounds. all this money goes to my cr8ted club whose bank balance is now 2m.

when do i get an offer to manage the national team? do I have to be a certain level manager before i get an offer?

proxnet

no not necessary but if yuor manger lv. is low u'll get offers from not so good nat. teams.

Mostly you get the offers from your second/end of 1st yr.

U'll always get an offer before a tournament starts for eg. 2 weeks before the world cup qualifiers/European Champ. qual. u're most likely to get an offer

sure.
another 1

try to keep a small squad and if u can't there is no harm in not keeping yur reserve team. This saves you lots of money. Do not insure all ur players except * players. Also keeping a small team ensures less fights, more morale, damn good teamwork.

Teamwork helps a lot specially if ur team lv. is lower than the other team lvl.
Lastly,
Always try to keep the same tactics for many matches this make's the status high of the tactic.

Also if ur team jus gets promoted and ur team lvl. is very low compared to other team..don't worry.
Plan on long-term basis and train your team tactics(Avg. tactics lvl. can be seen in training screen) a high team tactics is very good even if your team lvl.(not team tactics) is lower than the other teams as if u have a good offside trap status and a good free-kick and counter attacking status set your tactics to that and u might just as well see your team beating the other team

Training Camps

always try to go to training camps before the season starts, and if you have some money also you can arrange training camps before importants matchs or when the league has a break. The two most usefull for me are
El Faro : Regeneration/Form
La Paz : Fitness

Yes, the tips definitely work. I started a new career with swansea city and got promoted. Also have a good bank balance and a happy squad. Sold some players to bigger clubs like Everton and Birmingham and made good money. Used the money to get some young talented players. But the question now is - will i survive in the higher league? Other teams have players with higher ratings than mine. Any tips for this situation? This season i just want to avoid relegation.

ok since u just wanna avoid relegation....try getting in some new young talent. Search for young good promising ppl. in israel and swedish and the english lower leagues. Also send your talent scout to other clubs to try and persuade some of their young players to come and join your club. This worked for my cr8ted club.
Once you get in some new talent just focus on ur younger ppl. So u can buil up a strong team.
Once u do this post here again...and i'll tell u what to do dependinn' on ur situation.
Also try signing one veteran from some top epl club. BUT REMEMBER DO THIS ONLY IN DESPERATE CASES IF UR STARING A RELEGATION OR STARING AT PROMOTION. Also remember that u might not be able to extend their career so they might end up playing only 2 yrs. or so.

Ok ... here is the situation after the first month of promotion. -

1. My team (swansea city) is at 17th position.
2. The best player of the previous season is bought by the 'Spurs'. This has made some players unhappy but I couldn't do anything as the player wanted to go.
3. Infighting between some senior players. I talked to them but no good.
4. Israeli and Swedish players won't come. Either too costly or will not join until I'm promoted. Should i look for players from english lower divisions?

at least i'm keeping up with my objective ( avoid relegation). my manager level is 4 and i don't see it increasing any sooner. :nape:

ok...here's what u do.....i'm guessing u have atleast 3 to 4 months to go before the end of the season.
Play a more defensive strategy...as if u'll defend u'll draw and get at the minimum 1 point.Once you set up a defensive strategy then extend the contract of your star striker currently and in the contract tick the option increase in pay if u score * * amt. of goals. Put that to whatever you want to. Mostly 20 goals.
Remember this will benefit you as the player will score an' ur team will not get relegated..so u'll get some cash.
Whereas if he sodn't score then ur cash won't go.
Now for the fights....to remove this atmosphere of tension in your team make the fines a lot more stricter and keep holding party sessions regularly, doing this some time or the other they 2 will remove the hatred for each other.
Also invest in some nice young talent and if u can't persuade swedish or other ppl. keep tryying with ur talent scouts as for buying check in the local lower div. as when i had cr8ted my club there was certainly quite some talent in the lower leagues and i relied on them to reach the epl.

So do all this that a have just said.
Here's another tip:-
say u have 2 strikers but u play only one striker a match. Obvesly' the other strikers morale will be low. Here's what u do put him in the reserve team, but dont talk to him and tell him 'we need u in the reserves' this will make him leave the club. So just directly put him. With this his form will increase so will his morale.
You can also do this to mantain teamwork...say a top calss player get's injured...u put a replacement..then u find out that the teams doin' equallly well with the new player and u don't wanna break the teamwork and tempo 1nce the player comes back from injury play him in the reserves.

ALSO PLEASE KEEP UR TEAMWORK HIGH.....CUZ THIS WILL WIN U MATCHES...DO THIS BY KEEPING THE SAME TEAM FOR MANY MATCHES TOGETHER.

Will be waitin' for ur stats :) (Y)

Heres another tip....

say you have many talented players in your team and they are very young but there are better players than them who are older and are going well....u don't wanna lose ur talent as well as lose your team-work...here's what u do...talk to the players who are the young ones and talented and keep motivating them.....try to get them in the reserve team...but if ur in a lower division and you don't have/can't afford a reserve team then player talking is the only way....also keep any eye on him in training and give him a few oppurtunities....it is also very essential to keep a small team if your playing in the lower leagues.

More soon :)

Say you have a very low div. club and you are managing them or maybe you have cr8ted your own club. You are getting promoted to the next division. You buy some better players. This makes your squad very big. NOW WHAT TO DO??? with this u'll have lot's of financial trouble. To avoid these situations don't be hesitant to cancel some contracts of the weaker players as this will save you money in the long run. Also plan on a long-term basis and don't offer players a contract more than 2 years. DO THIS ONLY IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE GETTING PROMOTED.by offering him a contract for 2 years u might not have to cancel his contract as he will be released. but remember if yuor in the epl or the highest div. of the country offer a contract to a player for more than 2 yr. cuz u know that u won't buy any new player who will challenge him for his team place. Also try to keep the team's confidence high and visit the parks and hotels regularly. It is also advisable to have a Youth PLayer day before the season starts.

Usually when I have a low-division club I invest all my money, and add the weaker players on the transfer list by Loan With Buy Option
I did that even with big teams, and in 3 seasons I had 130 mil euros

And BTW, sign the players that are at the end of the contract. You'll find many! I found some 20 years old players that were level 12 and transfered them with no fee ;)

OK. Here is my story so far. After getting promoted to league one from league two, my team spent 3 seasons in league one. This is my last season with the club and with 3 matches to go, my team is at the 1st place in league one. This means a promotion to championship is sure (I'm playing in English league, to make it clear). The things i want to know are -

1. Do I extend my contract with the club(Swansea City) ? This is my last season. The board is very willing to extend the contract but will i get some other offers? If yes, then can u guess from what level of clubs? I don't want to go down to lower leagues again. My manager level is 6 and i'm playing the football god mode.

2. I'm playing the same team from league two. No transfer in though i've sold some players to premier division teams when i was in league two. For the last three seasons, it is the same team. Some of my player's market values are around 3-5 million. I have trained them such that most of their attributes are above 85. And most of them are in the age group of 22-28. also, their contracts keep them for atleast 3 more years in the club. Should i sell some of them to get money when i get promoted to championship?

3. I placed some of my lesser capable players on the transfer list but no one is buying or loaning them. I have reduced the fee but still no buyer. And they are not bad in stats either. most of their attributes are in range of 75-80. How do i sell them?

4. Finally, after getting promoted to championship, how do I survive? I mean the teams there have very high ratings compared to mine.

Thanx.

I think the tactics depends upon the strength and weakness of the players. I am using the 4-1-2-1-2 formation for the last few seasons and i have been promoted to championship from league two. Against bigger teams, i play more defensively and use long balls. I have defeated ManU, Liverpool and Newcastle during the past seasons in the english cup and league cup games.
