View Full Version : Adult Topic: Brazil games. Wanderley problems, or Wanderley is the prob?
Lord 2 17-08-2000, 04:59:AM First... It is not a Brazil is the best or Brazil suck post... So...
I think Brazil have the best players, but could not make a good team. Why?
Wanderley.
I am not saying he is a bad coach. But like we say, thera are Club players and Nation (seleção) Players. It is good for Wanderley too.
He fight if our stars, and I could not accept that. Leonardo, Romario, Edmundo, Edilson... It is Brazil that is losing...
He likes the strong, Windows (Multy-Task) players, and not the best players.
Like when we were playing the Olympic quali games and he said- This players is what I want from everyone.
Hw was talking about Alex, Ronaldinho? No... Mozart...
Marcus Assuncao?! Pls... That guy was a sub in Falamengo!
Marques? He have Elber, Amoroso, Ronaldo, Edilson, ROMARIO! Edmundo... and don't came with they were injurie, because he call Marques 3 straight games.
Luxemburgo team is based on defense. Just look at his "untouchbale" players: Dida, Antonio Carlos, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Emerson, Rivaldo. Just one is not from defense. I am not saying they are bad, but Brazil strenght always was and is attack. And in 7 games 7 diferent attacks... how could that?! It look like a pro team? How could we play a good game with 7 diferent teams?
And that is the worst for me...
Wanderley thinks he is so good that he could win with any players, he don't need the star, he is going to be the star...
I could not agree with Zagalo, but he is 100 years ahead of Wanderley as a Nation coach.
One thing I like in Zagallo and Pareira, they few times use a players the first time they call the player. They call the players 3,4 times until he is "used" to Brazil nation team, and just after that he plays. Because if you call a players and he plays one, just one bad game... he is not good enought for the team. Look França...
Ok I wrote too much and too bad I am tired and pissed...

Juninhio 17-08-2000, 05:14:AM I never liked Luxembergo much he is way too Europeanized. With his 3 6 1 and defensive tactics.
I hope Zico takes over or if not even Big Phil who I think is unemployed.
Brazil need to use their prolific strikers...
Elber, sonyanderson, romario, edmundo, giovanni,Jardel ..all these strikers and he ignores them and plays un used players like marques?
plus where's denilson?juninho? and all the other GOOD players?
Wanderely is writing history..well thats what he wants...
he didn't make sense and he paid for that in santiago!
i like Brazil, they still have the ability to be the best in the world, they're not now, but i don't see why they can't.

TeKNoS 17-08-2000, 08:06:PM BRAZIL COACH UNDER FIRE
Luxemburgo's critics argue that the chances of defeat have increased because of the coach's constant chopping and changing.
Brazil have yet to field the same team twice in the tournament, and Luxemburgo now looks like a man who has completely lost his way.
Luizao became Brazil's 12th different striker in seven World Cup qualifiers when he replaced Amoroso at halftime on Tuesday night. Antonio Carlos and Edmilson, meanwhile, formed the fourth different central defensive partnership in seven outings.
The changes were partly due to suspensions, with Vampeta and Ronaldinho Gaucho ruled both out, but this in itself is a result of what seems a worring tendency by the players to resort to violence.
Nearly all the Brazilian media agreed on Thursday that midfielder Marcos Assuncao should have been sent off for a tackle which took Chile's Marcos Villaseca out of the match as early as the 13th minute. Instead he was booked by lenient Paraguayan official Epifanio Gonzalez.
Emerson Ferreira, who has already been suspended once in the competition, was also lucky to stay on the field for a cynical tackle on an opponent late in the game. The foul earned him his third yellow card in six outings.
Juca Kfouri, a columnist in the sports daily Lance, suggested Luxemburgo look at some new players ``so that the Brazilian team does not turn into an ordinary one which wins at home and loses away, like Chile and Paraguay.''
When he was a club coach, Luxemburgo was seen as a man who believed in Brazilian football's tradition of attacking football and who gave his players the freedom of the pitch.
Since becoming national team coach, he has done exactly the opposite.
``Three-nil was an unquestionably fair result and one which reveals the current situation of the national side,'' said Feranndo Calazans in O Globo. ``An insecure team, with no game plan whatsoever.''
Lance gave Luxemburgo two out of ten for his performance. ``Two years in charge and he still can't make them play as a team,'' it said.
---------------------------------------------
The problem is Wanderley. Before him, Brasil was an all-out attacking team. They played good in every section of the field, in defense, midfield, and up top. Now that he came, he has tried to make the players accustom to a defensive, total football strategy.
Now that he's taken charge, Brasil doesn't have that flowing, majestic ball touching that everyone was used to seeing when they made their world tour in 1997, and throughout France 98. Now they are a bunch of stumbling youngsters that cannot manage to win a game dominantly.
I suggest he bring in some older talent, to bring in reinforcements and experience until the team is back on its feet again, and to at least qualify for the next round. Some good players like Leonardo, Sampaio, and maybe even Denilson could certainly help the team become stronger and more possessive. He should also keep some of the younger players that have proven themselves, like Vampeta and Ronaldinho. Franca I think needs more time to develop.
If he doesn't change in time, Brasil could be in a lot of trouble, and I don't think any World Cup would be the same without Brasil.

Woody_007 18-08-2000, 12:17:AM I cannot beleive that I am about to agree with a Madrista http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif, but Tenkos is right. Brasil's strength has always been creation. Not suffocation. He needs to grow up and bring back Romario. He will instantly help. So will Jardel, Amoroso, Denilson, Anderson, Juninho ...... etc. He has realise what is good for Brasil and not himself. For a guy who went all out at Flamengo, he has done nothing to inspire confidence in his players. They need to learn each other, and their strengths. One match is not going to do that. He has to understand that, but he will not. He will continue to employ his tactics until he is fired (soon I hope) because he is too stubborn.
Hmmmmm ...... Zico. I miss that guy.
TeKNoS 18-08-2000, 07:15:AM Look at this, on http://sports.yahoo.com
12 STRIKERS IN SEVEN MATCHES
Luxemburgo has taken most of the blame for constantly changing the team and for sticking with the out-of-form Rivaldo in midfield and Roberto Carlos at left back.
Luxemburgo has fielded 12 strikers in seven matches and none of them has scored.
The stage now appears to be set for veteran striker Romario to come back and repeat the saviour's role he performed in 1993.
Brazil had also struggled in the qualifiers then and needed to draw their last game at home to Uruguay to qualify for the United States World Cup.
Romario, kicked out of the team for disciplinary reasons, was reprieved and responded by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win.
Romario has again found himself out in the cold since Luxemburgo's takeover two years ago. During this time he has been picked only twice -- for a match against Spanish club side Barcelona and for the brief British tour this year which he ultimately missed through injury.
Although Luxemburgo has insisted that the door for Romario is open, critics feel that some animosity dating back to the pair's days at Flamengo remains.
---------------------------------------------
I think Luxemburgo should bring Romario back. I was so saddened by the fact that el Ro-Ro didn't get to play in France 98. I would have loved to see Romario play alongside a better faring Ronaldo than that invalid Bebeto. I hope he brings him back, and gives him another chance, or someone sacks him before he can do further damage. Zico forever !

Lord 2 19-08-2000, 08:01:AM Did you heard?
Now Wanderley says that we could not qualify...
How could the Coach, the Commander, says that we could not Qualify?
How the players could play, if their Commander don't believe 100% then?
Stupid...
And he blames the players for the failure...
They play bad, but he call Marques... He made the tactics... But he could not be blamed...
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Let Star a Canpaign: Give CM3 to Wanderley!
So he could learn something...

spaceboy 19-08-2000, 08:32:AM LOL
CM3 ?
That´s just funny, i can imagine Wanderley trying to slow down the computer and the game because it seems too agressive for him.
He should assign which ofthe two defenders (Antonio Carlos or Edmilson) is gonna be the one playing more close to DIDA (kind of sweeper), I think that Alex should run more ( i mean he is very good and technical and whatever but he is 21 or so and being so young should be an advantage in speed and stamina)Finally forwards should be the stars they oughta be the most effective and not the tallest (like Amoroso).
I hope you guys keep posting here.
