Flamengo. 5 times brazilian Série A champions, 2 intercontinental titles (I guess), I-don't-know-how-many Libertadores, the team with more supporters in Brazil, Zico and many other players...

Now, fighting to get away from relegation.

Salgueiros and Farense that played both in the UEFA Cup during the 90's are in the third and fourth division now respectively and both in relegation places and in bankrupcy.

Here in Brazil there are many...

Bangu - Runners-up in 1985 brazilian championship(and they deserved to win) and a state champion here. Today is at the Rio's second division.
America-RJ - Once a fomous and popular team over Brazil in the 80's, today suffers to keep at Rio's state league 1st division.
Bragantino - São Paulo State champion in 1990 and brazilian runners-up in 1991. Today an average team of third division.
União São João de Araras - If I'm not wrong, it's a state champion in Sao Paulo. Played two years in first division, always on the botton of the table. Today a weak team of third divison.
Portuguesa-SP(Lusa) - One of most popular team of São Paulo. Runners-up at 1996 brazilian championship and accumulate some state championships. Today an average team on second Division.
Sport Recife - Brazilian champions in 87. Now in the same situation of Portuguesa(how sad:( )
Botafogo-SP - They played two years at first divison, and now I don't know where are they...

Gremio - World Champions, won the first division twice and won many times Copa do Brasil. They will play the second division next year...

Lusa? A popular team?!?! They cant put more than 1000 people in their stadium lol! Anyway, gotta agree about the rest. If you want, you can put Guarani in that list aswell, once Brazilian Champions, now we're down to 2nd division. Not to mention it's our 3rd relagation in 3-4 years (Paulista 2001, Rio-SP 2002, Brasileirão 2004). We are only on the 1st Division at Paulista because they "turned the table" in our favour (virada de mesa).

Then they turned into a UEFA Cup team.

Now they arent the power they used to be. Sad really, i liked them before. I still do, just they dont have that same appeal.

The El Salvador is a good one but that's 25 years ago! 70 and 80 until today is a long time. So I would consider it a slow decline rather than a freefall.

But in the same category as El Salvador I would put Hungary, like Atlas said, and also Uruguay. Uruguay won the World Cup in the 50s! and have disappeared in the past decades.
Romania since 1994 has not been very strong... same for Scotland.

JFG_Lancer
14-12-2004, 09:12:AM
Ok but consider that also El Salvador was decent in the 90's with a team that was close to WC 94 and 98 with 4 of the players All-stars in MLS in Cerritos, Cienfuegos, Diaz-Arce, and Zarco Rodriguez

like Punkt mentioned on Page 1... Salgueiros

they we're tough competitors in the Portufguese first league, they'd even beat porto, benfica and sporting once in a while and go to european competitions. They we're the third best team in Oporto

then... relegated to 2nd division

then... relegated to 2nd division B for financial problems

now at 2nd B:

17 matches
won: 0
draw: 0
lost: 17

goals scored: 6

goals conceded: ......63!

The story of two Indonesian teams :
- Bandung Raya : promoted to the premiere division, won it, financial problems suddenly emerged a season later, out of sponsors, bankrupt, dead . . .
- PSIS : promoted to the premiere division, won it, the next season after even without financial problems or changes in the last year`s winning squad, played the ****test football ever on this planet, ended up relegated without having a single win at all . . .

Ayr United - For the 2000/2001 season we came second in Scottish Division One by a point and in 2001/2002 we made the CIS Cup Final beating Stranraer 4-0, Inverness 5-1, Kilmarnock 5-4 on penalties and 1-0 against Hibernian in the Semi-Final and got beat 4-0 by Rangers in the final.
Season 2002/2003 we finished mid-table in the Scottish Division One and had managed just a 1-0 defeat at home to Rangers in the cup and should have beat them.
In Season 2003/2004 Ayr were relegated. :kader:

Is there anything worse than Madrid last year?

2 months to go and they are first by 8 points, in the final of the Cup, and in the quarters of the CL

2 months later they end in 4th place winning 1 match and losing out in all competitions.

Wow all those teams are pretty bad. I think the worst for the Greek league is Larissa which won the Greek league in 1988 and got relagated 3 years later. They are currently in the B league and looking to move up.

right now the B league is really exciting.

Kastoria
Nike Bolou
Larisa
Paniliakos
Panserraikos

all are in contention for a promotion to the Alpha National League next year. Only 3 will get the chance however. The 1st place team is automatically promoted from the B league while the 2nd and 3rd place teams will play the 14th and 15th placed teams. So if it were to happen now it would look like this

Relageted-Ergotelis, Promoted Panserraikos or Nike Bolou (tied for 1st)

playoff matches

Kastoria-Aris
Paniliakos-Apollon Kalamarias

Inter is definately below it's true potential. But nowhere as bad as Parma. These guys can actually be relegated and that would simply be shocking. The team may have suffere some financial setbacks but they still have the likes of Gilardino, Frey, Marchionni, Morfeo, and Inter's own Potenza.

They should atleast be a midtable club but they are in the relegation zone. If they go down then it will be a mad scramble to pickup the big talents from that squad.
