well its been rumoured to be in production. do you guys reckon that dragon ball z would make a good movie.

Personally i think it has the concept, and would obviously have the great graphicall scenes, and action sequences.

i think it would have the potential to be as big as LOTR

IMO Dragon Ball Z is crap, every time i see it someone is screaming with all their veins popping out and it's all windy.

DragonBall is a great series ....
making it into a movie is stupid. well the money is there for the taking i suppose.

Last time I heard it was cancelled... I posted a link in that hellboy thread awhile ago when u guys were talking about dbz....

but they had eliza dushku and jessica alba lined up for roles in the movie tho... too bad it's not coming out...

amazing things can be done with movies, look at lord of the rings, look at likes of the new film van helsing, theres no doubt in my mind that dbz would make a good movie.

its funny cus if LOTR was on cartoon first, would people think it sucked before it came out at the cinema

I watched some of the movies downloaded, from Kazaa and they are good movies.

I think he meant LotR. and yes, there is an animated movie about LotR. came out in the 70s or 80s but it was small. probably just released on VHS. not in the cinemas.

The Dragon Ball series are good Maybe some of u dont like it cuz u have ever seen the COMPLETE series. Yall prob have only seen DBA, but theres DB and DBZ-GT..
The storie is great, and I like the fact that the heroes die and the enemies are stronger than the good mother****ers.. Have any1 here besides me have ever seen the complete series?? The have only been realeased in Jap and Spanish I think.. (i saw the spanish one and that was back in 98,99.. :rockman:)

yeah, I saw ALL the series: DB, DBZ and DBGT and I didnt like DB (Goku being a child), I loved DBZ (Goku being an adult and with Gohan a child and a teen and with Trunks coming from the future) and I have mixed feelings with DB GT (goku's grandson I think is mostly there, not sure though).

I loved the ending though which I wont talk about here cuase I dont know where in the story is Dragon Ball in the US

the US versions of DBZ did not do justice to the Japanese story, there were parts left out, and some other things were not like the japanese DBZ was, but i did like it, and the same with DB GT, i think if people would see the whole story, they would like it.

if this is true the movie is definitely going to be SH*T. they've tried so many times in the past to try and make movies out of successful cartoon series and the outcome many times has been failure. some movies that come to mind are Super Mario Bros. :$ i mean, back in the day that cartoon was the ish! but then the movie totally sucked big time. another one that i can think off the top of my head is Mortal Kombat. those movies were effin' cheesy. hmm, what else... i know there's more but anyway, you just can't make cartoons like dragonball Z into a blockbuster movie.

they said that they were cancelling it. and i dont think that it would have been as bad as you're describing it. nowadays they have much better technology then when mortal combat was made. i think the fight effects could have been made to look very good. but since the whole dragonball Z thing is very, how can i put it, unrealistic, it would be weird to have real people act out the whole movie. the fight scenes and much of the other stuff is just hard to envision having real actors to do and make it similiar to the cartoon. i still think it would have been good.

Personally i think the fight scenes would b awsome. Look at the sort of things they have done with the matrix films, those fight scenes are awsome. If they went all out to make this film, with effect the lot, and go out on a huge budgtet, i think it could be massive

i used to watch them in Mexico....they were called "los caballeros del zodiaco" (Saint Seiya).....the best EVER!

I think that article is pretty old. and the cast listed there is pretty much the 'dream cast'. Ive never heard anything about any of them attached to it, and Hugh Jackman was definetly not attached.

Loved the original DB (back in the early 90's), but hated everything that came after, and so i'm not really looking forward to this (awful, i know it will be) movie.

They'll make it some piece of cr*p little kids story, with terrible cg. Now if they had Takashi Miike (Zebraman 2004) as the director....... bah...it would never happen.:p

I would love the DBZ movie to come out. I know its gonna be a flop but theres a small spot deep inside me hoping it would be a good movie. From what I have heard. Fox have brought up the right s for 4 movies. They will each be along the sagas that were in the DBZ animation.

Movie 1 - Saiyan Saga (Fight with Raditz then Nappa and Vegeta)

Movie 2 - Namek Saga (everyone goes to Namek, fights against Frieza and the Ginyu Squad.

Movie 3 - Cell Saga (everything it intails)

Movie 4 - The Buu Saga

Basically, I would prefer it to be like this. Althougth reading some other stories, its gonna be changed and destroyed like other comic book/animated films

none of teh sagas can really eb well adapted. there was always just one or two of the 4 or 5 heroes fighting in each saga en the rest of the heroes we either dead, in other planet, or just not there.
