View Full Version : UEFA CUP - Newcastle x Sporting [P] + [R]
Virgo 15-12-2004, 07:09:PM Should be a good game. Newcastle has already lost to Sporting once in their preseason cup, and Sporting is currently going through a good period in the portuguese league.
I predict 1 - 1 Kluivert, Liedson
TOON ARMY 15-12-2004, 07:13:PM We used to be near unbeatable at home but now we are so unpredictable i haven't a clue what to predict.
Bonzi 15-12-2004, 08:14:PM in spite of anything, i think Newcastle will easly win 3-0
Virgo 15-12-2004, 09:04:PM Sporting isn't a sunday league team
Pizarro14 15-12-2004, 09:05:PM 2-1 Newcastle or a 1-1 draw
Punkt 15-12-2004, 09:09:PM i don't know why but the russians in this forum have a small "hate" towards the portuguese football. since last season i notice that, especially during the euro.
i don't like Sporting, and they could lose but easily? we are not san marino or andorra...

didn't portugal beat the living fock out of russia? i say thats why (H)
Vinnie Jones 15-12-2004, 09:10:PM I think both Sporting and Newcastle will play without a couple of players acording to the newspapers. I donīt see much motivation in both squads towards this game, so it will prolly be a draw or a Newcastle win, depending on the midfield (without some key players) that Sporting will present.

7 - 1 (H)
Vinnie Jones 15-12-2004, 09:18:PM Cska couldnīt even beat Porto at home when they were missing half of the team.

i don't hate the portuguese football. i just hate sporting since i could speak:D
and about 7-1... i can only say, that our main gk Ovchinnikov was injured. and in the net there were f**king Malafeev.
Vinnie Jones 15-12-2004, 09:19:PM You hate Sporting? For what? I bet you donīt even know 1/3 of the team.
Virgo 15-12-2004, 09:20:PM what the hell? I didn't see the keeper make any blunder... most of the goals couldn't be defended.
You should blame your piece of crap defence and your slow midfield.

the reason of this home lose was the curved leg of Ignashevich. he missed the penalty kick. the same happened in the home match against Chelsea, where Vagner also missed the penalty.

any goal could be defended;) Malafeev looked so f**king confused...
yeah, we have lost 1-7 and now every portugese guy can teach me:D
bmpv666 15-12-2004, 09:44:PM i really don't know how newcastle has been performing latelly so i can't really predict who will win and who will lose, but i believe that whoever wins it will do it by a one goal margin.

Well our form has been awful recently. We've created some good attacking football but our defence is AWFUL. Everton, Chelsea, Pompey are all games in the past few week where we've played better than our opponents for much of the game but defensive errors have let these teams get back into the game late on.
However we are still playing some decent stuff despite our poor defence so someone is going to get a thrashing sooner or later.
Virgo 15-12-2004, 10:45:PM Just read kluivert and shearer will not play. Can anyone confirm this?

Shearer's been out for quite some time now and Kluivert has been struggling with a few knocks over the past few weeks so Ameobi and Bellamy will feature.
buba3d 16-12-2004, 01:19:AM Get yer filthy mitts aff our boumsong.:o
ShearerM4 17-12-2004, 12:17:AM got the feeling this is going to be a really ugly and painful game to watch.
The preseason friendly was a dive fest.... and this will be a lot more of the same i feel.
its all about the result in europe it seems, so as long as we win.
btw .. shoudlnt the title of the thread be Newcastle vs Sporting Lisbon ?? :p
Virgo 17-12-2004, 12:47:AM if you want to pick a fight with Sporting fans over the club's name it should.
SCP19O6 17-12-2004, 01:17:AM To be honest, I don't mind that foreign people call us Sporting Lisbon.
Although it's wrong, it's so common that it will never change, so why bother?
Virgo 17-12-2004, 01:28:AM Sporting trying a 5 3 2 formation today... it's new so let's see if it works out.
Virgo 17-12-2004, 01:32:AM 1 - 0 ridiculous defending by Beto ROFL
SCP19O6 17-12-2004, 01:35:AM Great, we are losing, that means 3rd place instead of 2nd, good thing!
Punkt 17-12-2004, 02:06:AM GOAL
1-1 Custódio
great header
Virgo 17-12-2004, 02:06:AM 1 - 1 Custodio
well deserved goal
ShearerM4 17-12-2004, 02:09:AM Ref's gone Card crazy

Why oh why do our coaches feel the need to invent on big occasions?
These morons don't believe in hard work, man. They think wins come with magical formations drawed in the last days, obviously without time to implement or test them.
Vinnie Jones 17-12-2004, 02:30:AM Here we go about the dive talk. It was only diving, Sporting didnīt have the merit of beating Newcastle in the pre-season (even if they played without 50% of their starters). I donīt expect anything else from you anyways. Btw you constantly whine about diving, didnīt you see Bellamy and Ameobi in this match? What about that defender who "felt" Pinilla in the back and threw himself to the ground, getting an easy foul when Pinilla was in a good position to score? Ahh thatīs right, itīs only bad if your opponents do so. Remember Newcastleīs penalty against Panionos? I sure do, it was a great dive.
P.s Itīs a good excuse, i should say this all the time when Académica loses. They dived.
And you can only laugh when Peseiro says that he wants to win the Uefa Cup...playing like this.

Oh yeah. :hump:
And Cajuda; and Quinito; and Octávio; and Manuel Fernandes; and Jorge Jesus (the list goes on); and now Peseiro. (Y)
-----------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Pinilla's ball control, especially his reception, is just (H).
What an awesome player!
Virgo 17-12-2004, 02:46:AM Liedson has been piss poor
Vinnie Jones 17-12-2004, 02:54:AM Only Custódio and Rochemback have been performing decently in my opinion. Btw Beto :kader:
What happend to Viana. Is he injured again?
ShearerM4 17-12-2004, 03:04:AM .... OBrien is on
have we committed suicide ? :(

he can't play... he's a newcastle player
Vinnie Jones 17-12-2004, 03:06:AM Hugo Viana canīt play cause he is on loan from Newcastle. Btw nice "try" Milner.
Virgo 17-12-2004, 03:16:AM FT 1 - 1
Most boring game I've seen this season.

Vinnie Jones 17-12-2004, 03:19:AM Indeed and Sporting was lucky because Sochaux won, so they will be 3rd and will avoid playing an eliminated Champions League side.

Yeah, they were. The teams they can face are much more accessible than the ones coming from the CL (which Benfica will face). But playing like this...
