View Full Version : Invisible Walls aroud the Pitch? How to set special zones?

I'd like to know how to emulate invisible walls around the pitch.

I notice that whenever the ball goes out of play, and a defender then tries to kick the ball back onto the field, the ball seems to bounce off an invisible wall and goes the other way.

I want to enable this wall for the entire match. Not for anything in particular, i would just like to test it out, as it might be of interest if i want to make a game setting similar to the Indoor soccer leagues in the USA.

Second but related question: How can i set specific zones around the pitch? For example, no matter how you alter the goal's appearance in OEdit, the area where a goal counts is still 8 feet by 8 yards. How can i edit that 8ft by 8yd zone? Also, No matter how the goal is drawn, the ball will always deflect after hitting the thin area defined by the original goalpost. How can i change certain areas to act like a goalpost, or act like the goal netting, etc?

EDIT: if you don't know the answers to these questions, but know someone who might, please forward this to them. In addition, if you are unable to post on these forums (employee, etc) but would like to help, please e-mail me via my profile.

I'm thinking there must be.

If you play the game, watch for this. When the ball goes out of bounds, and you (or the CPU) try to kick it to keep in play, but it has already gone out of bounds. Notice that the ball seems to "bounce" of some kind of invisible wall that prevents it from goig back into play. Apparently this already exists in the code, but only when the ball goes out of play. I want to enable it all the time.

Alternatively, consider this: The zdata files contain info about the images in the game, all of which can be altered (player faces, kits, stadiums, even the lines on the pitch can be moved around or changed in colour). Some of these items cause the ball to deflect off of them, some let the ball pass right through them. What if there was a way to create something on the field (in the field image files for example) that goes all the way around the pitch, and maybe 50 metres above the pitch (a ceiling), with a hole where the goals are? Then we make this thing transparent (see through). Then we set it so that the ball can't go through this invisible object, it has to bounce off and stay in play. This is what i want to do, but i don't know how to do it.

I get that idea, in fact I was pushing for that idea for FIFA 2004, of which, I figure turned out to be a failure at the time...

But FIFA 2005 must have a much greater chance, which EASports may have included in it's files for others to be able to alter to make improvements to the game...can the editors in this forum figure out & work on alerations to get an indoor soccer mode created for FIFA 2005???

Thats just it...no one seems to know, and there are too many files to go through. I don't even know if the things i want to do are editable without cracking the fifa2005.exe file (which i am not willing to try for legal reasons).

No problem, I sent out messages to some programmers that have the expertise that can take the chance with that, that could make the edit by will. Just PM me & I will give you some names...
