Been very busy with sex, drugs & rock'n'roll (yes it's a tough job but one of the perks is beer :p)
Got a lil time off so I decided to clean up my boro away kit and post it here.
My first ever effort (the home kit) was subject to a bit of p!ss taking but boys will be boys and I wasn't discouraged (yeah it was sh!te but I was able to see where I could improve). This is my 2nd effort and it is a tidied up version of one I posted last week - there was the odd minor mistake which I never spotted till I actually watched some archive footage of the lads. Once again I'm going to make a "bold" statement (hehe) and say it's the most accurate I've seen - the others I've seen have obvious mistakes. I ain't saying that to get anyone's ego boiling over ;) What I am saying is if I had seen a better one before now I wouldn't even bother posting and also if someone does post a better one - I will gladly bang it in MY kitserver folder cos I ain't that up myself I'd settle for the lesser one.
Once again I would encourage others to have a bash at making kits even if they haven't any idea. I had none a couple of weeks back and it didn't take long at all to pick it up. It's just basically colouring in. :D
I used paint shop pro - I coulda used photoshop but couldn't be @rsed learning 2 proggies.
I started with a clean kit template. I created separate transparent overlays for the red and blue parts (you can cut out bits you don't want to colour and also add bits as well). I used these overlays to add the colours and also to select areas underneath the colours on the template. With the areas selected I was able to adjust the brightness and contrast individually for each colour - as mentioned previously the colours are transparent overlays so the contrast etc has to be applied to the surface of the actual kit template. Then I googled the logos & badge and resized, adjusted etc and pasted onto the kit. I also did some general drawing as well as some tidying up with the pen & brush. I saved the bmp and processed it (adjusted properties, opaque & transparency) for use in the kitserver with Graphic Studio 04 11 11.
Now I know my help is quite general but in order to be more precise I would have to get into the realms of a paint shop pro tutorial and you need to use the proggy to get to know it (besides I ain't a guru :p). The fact that you are making a kit makes no difference. You should experiment and see what the program can do. Everything can be reversed as well. You can even scribble on a kit roughly (I suggest making a layer you can turn on & off for this but it's not absolutely necessary) and see how it looks in game to give you more idea as to how objects & colours appear on it. That will help you when you come to more precise work is involved. Look at other kits to help you get to grips with stuff like the collar and how the different parts join together. Once you get going you can even start messing with overlayed textures to get even closer to that dream shirt!
I do wish I could help more and I apologise to those who find this is no real good to them at all but I'm sure if I can do it then many others can.
If the bmp doesn't show copy the link into your browser and keep trying (sorry but it's lycos and I'm too lazy to sign up elsewhere). I've also upped the gif which you can convert but in that case use Graphic Studio to set all colours to opaque and just the green one to transparent.
