i have tried editing the A.Settings file but the game tells me that it is unable to load it. i know there is a checksum on it so i've only tried unlocking the stads etc, not changing the length of the file.
i've edited it with notepad, wordpad, word.
is there ne special editor?

What are you trying to edit? You're most likely looking in the wrong file. Anything saved in A. Settings is editable in the main directory (this is the mistake the people who made the original "unlock everything" patch made)

But to answer your question, try a hex editor. They will open just about anything. Try UltraEdit.

which file in the main directory (located where) will allow me to unlock the stads, the balls, kits etc..

the problem i have is not in editing but in saving the file. so will a hex editor save it in such a way that the game can load the file?

If you want to unlock stads, balls, etc. You actually should edit the common.ini file, located in config.dat in the main directory.
