Hello everyone!

Today I was in Electronic Arts Poland and I had a pleasure to play UEFA Champions League 2004/2005. Over at Centrum FIFY (http://www.fifaserwis.com) we have just released preview this game, but unfortunnatly in Polish :( Maybe in near future it will be in English. For now I write my opinion about this game [mini version of my preview :P]

First of all - this game has great Champions League atmosphere. Official music, logos and teams. We have a lot of new option, for example we can create manager. But the best games modes are the locked ones. For example we can play beach soccer! But the most interesting one is "1st Person Mode". It's a kind of camera, that we see game by player's, who has got ball, eyes! It looks great! What can I say more? It's great game, better than FIFA 2005. Better than PES4? I don't know, I think that we can't compare those games, couse they are different at all.
And there are new commentators ! :)

how's the gameplay improvements?

what are the new commentators in english language? and also which are the rest of europe teams? wher are they from, as in which countries?

1st player mode is the stupidest thing ever. why the hell would they put that in:kader:

Gameplay - more skillmoves, better goalkeepers. I think, that defenders AI is improve, it's hard to win with them. There are also new free kicks and corners - for me they're better than they were in FIFA 2005.


Teams - 239 teams. In rest of Europe there are: Legia Warsaw, Polonia Warsaw, Wisla Cracow [Poland], Panathinaikos Athens [Greece], Sparta Praga [Czech Republic], Dinamo Kiev [Ukraine] and I don't remember others.

Commentators - I can't find they surnames, but they are good! They're speaking exciting and interesting.

also can u post screens here as well? of the menus and the unlockables?

he can't play the game and make screenies right now... he was only at the tests and now it's over

And furthermore - I played on PS2

What does this say

You can have the best stars the best stadium and the best equipment... but if you dont win games that all stops to have any meaning. You have to win and in particular, realise the dream trophy at least once in your carrer.

there are many menus. For example one it is the official CL ball :)

what did they say about the unlockables and other cool things in the game?

how the game look like? does the players look like fifa 2005, or the game look completly defferent from fifa 2005?

Can you do a low shot? For instance, sometimes when the wall times their jump, you can play the ball under the wall, or to the side if they are positioned improperly. Is there a way to do that?

There was in the FIFA 2005 demo, but then when I got the game for XBox, I couldn't figure out a way to do it. I tried positioning the cursor in the lower part of the goal, but that doesn't seem to work. I even tried positioning the cursor in the lower part of the goal, and not putting too much power on the shot, and it still didn't seem to work.

Also, does it play the official Champions League song before every match? I sure hope so. :)

Yes. We must set up rectangle down on goal and shot with special power.

Only when we click "Play match" and after loading screen it is CL logo and official song. Unfortunately when players run in stadium there isn't song and CL flag in center of the pitch

Don't you have screens? And where did you get the version you played?

Got my previewcopy yesterday. No big improvements. Comments are almost identical only small things are new like "Champions League" etc. Nothing really big. Just a new way to make money...

But then there are some small improvements like handball, refs give more advantages and they make bad calls themself. And now you can see how much extra time there will be played etc. Stuff like that. I enjoyed it for 2 hours or so nothing more.

No, it is really good game.

It's like FIFA 2005. Nothing else. Just another way to make money. That's everyting that needs to be said. If I need to choose between this CL game and PES 4 I'd rather take PES...

No one mentioned here PES, you are just making PES propagand, i love PES4 but FIFA and PES are different games, UCL game seems pretty good, i'm starting to have doubts of this preview copies....

I have doubs about the preview copies also. TrebuTa only says thing which everyone knows about the CL. I'm sure he hasn't played it yet.

Exacty, cause with the game features EA announced it's impossible you play and say it's like FIFA 2005, speccialy with such a different gameplay style in the corners for example... it's easy to say with TrebuTa said, you just have to pick in the gameplay improvements... i wanna see screens... or official reviews like in fifa centryum...

We're planning to open special service [like UEFA CL, FIFA 2005, FIFA 2004 and others at our site] in English in next two weeks :)

I heard heaps of stuff like this coming up to FIFA 2005 too. And then I bought it- and it had everything it promised. And yet, somehow, it didn't work- the intent was there, there were some great ideas, but it was a boring game to play.

i'll be amazed if this doesn't happen with UCL, but, somehow there is a faint glimmer of hope.

But my new year's resolution is not to buy any EA games, and I will not be fooled by clever marketing (like FIFA 2005).

if it IS good, then well done EA.

well, everything sounds quite perfect and all...but...there's always one...the main challenge of EA it is to re-convince former fifa players and currently we players to give fifa franchise one more try...(like me...re-gained from konami realm to ea's).

I believe ea lives quite a problem right now...they're slowly changing the game to look quite PES'...and the release strategies are quite similar to konami too...with the difference...UCL it's not a translated version of fifa 2005, it's a brand new game...

the commentators are clive tyldsley and andy gray, a dream combination , shud b very cool to hear

I read a preview of this in Cube magazine. they say that the commentary is excellent and the best ever seen in a soccer game.

also in season/mission mode, you pick your chosen team and you get one match. (last game of the season) if you lose it's game over as you need to win if you wanna qualify for the CL.

i am a sucker for ea sports i'll probably buy it :(

From what ive read in some german magazines:
The commentar 'boys' are ****ed up then ever. They are like on another game, not that one ure currently playing....even worse than they are in Fifa 05. E.g. that quote:
"The commentrys are worser then ever, people will disable the commentry after a while + theyre wrong every second time they comment a situation"

Tho ive got some questions:
1. Why the **** is there no Kiev stadium ?!
2. Will there be snow or 'ice' ?!
3. Are you able to create a 'Superstar Team' like in Euro 04 ?!
4. Can you do Direct-IP (as the offical homepage didnt mentioned) ?!
5. Are Substitutions now shown ?!
6. Are the REAL Coaches? Or only fakes ?!
