View Full Version : Solved the 'Tearing' issue with PES4 PC!

I think i just figured out how to eliminate the 'tearing' that most people suffered while playing the game.

Putting Vertical sync on didn't work, but this was a OpenGL setting. So, I checked the Direct3D settings in the advanced display properties and found a 'More Direct3D..' icon. It opens up a new menu with a 'Vertical Sync Mode' option! It was on 'Always Off' for me, so i put it on 'Always on'. I decided to test it by playing PES and Voila! No more tearing. I was able to put it on high quality settings and the game runs like a charm now!

Note that i have a GF4 4200, a problem card for this game. I'm not sure if it'l work for ATI cards, but I don't see why it shoudn't.

Everyone just post here if has/hasn't worked for you.

PS: To mods, I only put this in the Main forums and not the Technical because this issue applies to at least half of the players with the game.

Ok.

Right click mouse and go to properties.

click on the 'settings' tab and click on the 'advanced' icon.

click on the 'Geeforce or [your vid card] graphic' tab. On the left menu there should be 'Direct3D settings'. Different drivers have somewhat differenct graphic menu's, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I have constant 60fps with no tearing with an ATI 9600XT and AthlonXP 3000

V-Sync always on removes tearing.

The other key is that you must *force* your monitor to be synced at 60Hz. So I set the game to 1280x1024 because on my monitor at that res the only refresh rate it can do is 60Hz. No good for a desktop refresh but for some reason this refresh doesn't give me headaches with in the game. Your mileage may vary.

If I were to play it at 1024x768 then I would need to get a tool like refresh force (I think the NV drivers have something like this built in) to force the monitor to only run at 60Hz since my monitor can run at 85 or 75 Hz at this res. for whatever res you run at 60Hz must be the only refresh that your monitor can "see" and thus use.

If running the game at 60Hz gives you headaches then this tip won't be worth much to you. PES/WE games are not that demanding. I mean if they run at 60fps on a PS2 then they should run like that on a GF 4200 which is a much stronger graphics chip.

I think Konami did kind of a shoddy port graphics-wise from the console versions to the PC version but hey what can you do.

I have a GeForce Ti 4200. I checked by settings, and it already was set to "on by default' which was always like that (I neevr changed it)

I guess this is why I mever experienced the tearing everyone else did.

Dont look like tech support section to me.

Also, niceman =

Plus wasnt bashing and my opinion still holds.

Turning on vsync to stop tearing is common knowledge.

Wouldnt do it unless, you are getting decent fps either as i doubt tripple buffer is supported in this game, thus will decrease ur fps by half if your fps are not able to stay above 60 at all times.

I had this problem but thankfully you can turn off V-Sync in the ATI control panel.

(I have a Radeon 9800 btw)

True ppl who dont play games regular, will not no what this options does, altho most drivers espicially ATI ones have massive ballon tips that tell you what it does.

Most of the posts moaning about technical problems on this forum are from ppl who have lack of knowledge of their hardware for what ever reason, then they flame any1 that tells them its there pc and not pes4.

The ones that moan are also extremley quick to jump on any person that asks a, what you would called noob question, with USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION, which i think is bang out of order.

Yet it doesnt apply to this thread!

This vsync option has been discussed way back when pes3 first came out on pc.

Prob still threads on the forum.

Sorry if i was bit harsh, but I was shocked at the amount of threads complaining about technicals problems yet they didnt even no something as simple as this.

Credit to Author tho, for trying to help ppl.
