Starring: Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Miranda Richardson

His voice calls to her, nurturing her extraordinary talents from the shadows of the opera house where innocent chorus girl Christine Daae (EMMY ROSSUM) makes her home. Only ballet mistress Madame Giry (MIRANDA RICHARDSON) knows that Christine's mysterious "Angel of Music" is actually the Phantom (GERARD BUTLER), a disfigured musical genius who haunts the catacombs of the theatre, terrifying the ensemble of artists who live and work there.

When temperamental diva La Carlotta (MINNIE DRIVER) walks out in the middle of a dress rehearsal for the company's latest production, the theatre's eager new managers (SIMON CALLOW and CIARAN HINDS) have no choice but to thrust Christine into the spotlight.

i think movie is going to be very boring, because it is musical and love story, and singing all the time
so what do u guys think, do u like this kinda movie or no???

have you seen it or just commenting on what it could be? :p

I havent seen it, but I'll probably will sometime this week cause I got nothing else to do.

Ive read that its not very good IF YOU HAVENT seen The Phantom of the Opera Musical, and that its dissapointing IF YOU'VE SEEN IT.

I did hear that Emmy Rossum (who was in The Day After Tomorrow btw :p) is great though while Gerald Butler dissapoints.

Isn't this nominated for the award of best movie at the Golden Globes?

yes it is and mostly cant understand why. the reason: its nominated for Best Comedy/Musical and they always nominate musicals if there is any. plus, I havent seen it, so I dont know if it actually is a bad movie or not, Im just saying the general feeling about it.
maybe its a good movie that its not very likeable :p

It's being advertised really heavily over here, but it doesnt look too good and its not getting very good reviews. I have seen the musical on stage in London and didnt enjoy it very much, so I'm gonna give this a miss I expect.

It seems like all the cinemas are devoting half their screens to it. I have no idea why though - it doesnt seem like the sort of thing that would go down too well.

isnt the phantom suppose to look scary???
he was scary in the previous one. in this he is good looking and the mask he is wearing is kinda odd.

well, I actually heard people saying that they didnt like the musical but did like the movie.

also, Im getting mad with all the critics saying that Schumacher 'discovered' Emmy Rossum, she was in ******* Mystic River last year and earlier this year in The Day After Tomorrow!!! :nape:
