So this movie is coming out this friday, and will definately be number 1 at the box office. Im definately gonna see it.
Do you people think it will be worth it?
Vagegast 10-10-2003, 08:59:AM Uma Thurman :hump: :brow:
Run DMB 10-10-2003, 09:48:AM Finally, another Tarantino movie. It's been a long wait (6 years to be exact). I'm guessing this one might be better than Jackie Brown but I doubt it will be anywhere near as brilliant as Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. It seems like it's going to be a less-serious movie than Tarantino's previous work, and more concentrated to pure entertainment.
The man is a genious anyway. I'm convinced he couldn't possibly make a bad movie, so I have pretty high expectations for Kill Bill.
#1 Stunna 10-10-2003, 09:50:AM what i think is cool is that this movie was gonna be 4 hours long, but the studio made him split it into Vol 1 and Vol 2.

I would say that's NOT cool at all. I have already read several reviews which say that splitting the movie in two halves was completely unnecessary and the studio only did it to make more money. Reviewers say it only makes each part of the movie seem incomplete and it's stupid to have to wait months to see the second half of it after you've seen the first.
In other words, it's as if you were watching, say, the director's cut of JFK (206 minutes) in your home and right in the middle of it, someone walked up to the DVD player, took the DVD out and then gave it back to you after a few months so you can see the rest of the film.
TottiNZidaneR#1 10-10-2003, 10:01:AM Guys i have already seen some of this movie from a :drevil: special screening:drevil: in my room. The first fight scene was really good but i will watch rest of it later. It looks good to me.

i meant that its cool that the movie is so long...not that it was split. ;)
But according to Tarantino, Vol 1 has more of the fighting, Vol 2 has most of the dialogue.
Voltaic Borusse 10-10-2003, 10:24:AM This movie is going to be stellar from what I've read and the trailers that I've seen. If any of you are familiar with Battle Royale and Ichi the Killer, then you're going to love this movie. I heard this movie is extremely bloody and gorey. Quentin Tarantino is a ******* genius.

Yeah... I'm a little tired now so I tend to misunderstand what people are saying.
(Just attended a 3-hour class on preparing for the ACT. )
PScott 10-10-2003, 10:30:AM I liked this quote Tarrantino had about his movie
4. Computers Were Used, Like, Once: Unlike today's rash of slick Matrix-ized action flicks, Bill has only a few tiny CGI shots (to remove wires from fighters flying through the air). "If I'd wanted all that computer-game bulls--t," Tarantino tells Britain's Empire magazine, "I'd have gone home and stuck my d--k in my Nintendo."

LOL! That's awesome. :rockman:
Hakeem 10-10-2003, 10:49:AM this movie is gonna be huge. Its the bloodiest (comercial) movie of the year (I know Ichi the Killer is ****ing great in this aspect).
and about the split, Tarantino said that the script was way to long, and he knew that he'd have to split it in 2 but he didnt make the suggestion, he just gave hints to harvey weinstein (miramax chairman) so it ended up as his idea and not quentin's.
anyway, the guys is a total genious, did someone saw him in Leno? he was drunk and Leno didnt know what was happening :p totally a classic :rockman:

buts thats for another thread.
PhiLLer 10-10-2003, 04:56:PM Tarantino is a master, best film director ever and as far as I'm concerned, will never make a bad movie. I'm defenitely going to see Kill Bill. It's supposed to be more bloody than the Resevoir Dogs ear cutting scene...NICE!:D
The Don't 11-10-2003, 01:16:AM nice! aye phil, tarantino is a genius.
Hakeem 11-10-2003, 11:59:AM I just saw it and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW
KILL BILL vol1 THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR tied with Pirates of the Caribbean, and untill The Return of the King :p
but yes, Its amazing.
The Battles:
awesome, blood everywhere.
arms, legs and heads cut off like that.
there's an EYE being taken off from a dude's face.
there are body parts getting crushed.
and more blood, more blood and more blood.
The Music:
classic. there are songs from totally different cultures.
there's the classic horn from the clint eastwood westerns when he was facing the top bad guys. extensive and incredibly loud.
The Cinematography:
there's normal filming, then you have black and white, and you also have a manga story in there. excellent.
The Acting/Characters:
this is class. everybody is amazing when acting, and the characters are totally great.
my favs that I love are The Bride, "Go Go" the Japanese School Girl, and Sonny Chiba (a legend) thats the guy that made The Bride's sword.
The one eyed girl looks like an awesome character thats gonna be more active in Vol 2, Lucy Liu's is also great but I preffered her bodyguard over her, and Bill, the title guy, he doesn't even appear in this one, and well, its not surprise cuz he's also not "killed" now cuz he's got to be in the next movie.
the knife fight we see in the triler between Uma and Vivica A. Fox is excellent. to death.
there's one more guy from the 4 Deadly Vipers thats Michael Madsen, but he's just a few minutes in the movie and just 1 line. we'll see him and Darryll Hannah in vol2.
well, thats all, ANOTHER CLASSIC BY TARANTINO:rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:

Hakeem 12-10-2003, 05:15:AM not enough people get to see the movie in just one month
Elder 12-10-2003, 06:50:AM Good point Hakeem

PhiLLer 16-04-2004, 06:33:PM I'm gonna see it this evening with some friends. In fact they've got a Kill Bill marathon this evening (volume 1 & 2) so I have to prepare myself mentally for a night of movies:p
I heard the second one has a lot more dialogue and a lot less blood and gore and fighting, can't wait to see it!

mhflierman 17-04-2004, 01:09:AM Volume 1 sucked big time. Uma's great though.
PhiLLer 17-04-2004, 08:38:AM It's 1.49am and I just got back from the Kill Bill marathon (that's vol.1 and vol.2 all in one go for all you mofos:D). I decided to put up a review of Volume 2 (since most of you probably haven't seen it yet). Note that it contains some spoilers but they are marked with an asterisk (*) and you can find the spoiler at the bottom of the page.
Kill Bill volume 2
First of all, if you haven't seen Vol.1 don't go and see Vol.2 and this because it was intended as one movie and not as a sequel, Miramax just ordered QT to split it up into two or else it would've been too long.
The most obvious thing about this movie is that it's a lot more emotional, less violant and there's more dialogue but don't say "ah no!" just yet because it's certainly not worse than the first.
The dialogues are very QT, brilliant stuff, it really pulls you into the movie as if you were right there being the 3rd person in the scenes. You get to know the characters and especially Uma Thurman's character (The Bride). In fact it's so well done that you feel like she's a friend of yours when watching it. Yes, this all happens in a somewhat fantasy world (though less fantasy than the Volume 1) and yes, some things seem a tad extraordinary yet you really feel for her and want her to do well. Uma's acting is good, she really makes the character believable yet not over the top, David Caradine does a great job playing Bill, excellent casting there and there's a bigger role for Michael Madsen who plays the type of character we all know him as. Darryl Hannah comes over authentic as a real bitch of a woman and there's a cameo for a certain well known actor who has appeared in most of Tarantino's films (no spoilers here, you'll have to see for yourself:p). It's this that also brings out the more emotional side to the movie and especially at the end of the movie it's all topped off nicely(*)
Another difference from Volume 1 is that Volume 2 offers less violance than the first, then again you can't really beat blood spraying all over the place and limbs flying around can you? Yet this doesn't make it any less of a movie in fact it brings out the story really well and shows you what a great writer QT really is. For all you violance freaks, do not worry, it obviously still has it's fair share especially in the fighting scenes as The Bride hunts down the gang one by one (Look out for the fight scene with Darryl Hannah!).
Another obvious thing about Volume 2 is that it contains quite a bit of humour, mainly black humour mixed with the odd bit of dry and sarcastic flavours and again I must point you to the fight between The Bride and Elle Driver(*) a great bit of cinematic history is created right there and then. Not only is the humour extremely funny it also fits the movie really well, typical QT style.
We all know that QT is a big fan of all sorts of different film genres and this shows especially in Volume 2. Where we had bits of anime in Volume 1, Volume 2 offers a great 70's cinematic style really reminding you of the (often bad and really over the top dubbed) martial arts flicks, it even features the slightly shaky fast zoom into the eyes then zooming out to reveal the entire body accompanied by lots of over the top "swoosh" sounds when they fight or even turn they're head. As in the first this one flicks from colours to black & white to sepia to black & white with just certain objects in colour and offers a great variety of cinematic styles.
Again this movie features some exquisite camera work. There's not flashy matrix style moves but it's the simple and delicately crafted shots that make you appreciate the cinematic style. You will just have to see the camera work to appreciate it, I can't describe it. You will see quite a lot of old western visuals in there too.
Finally, let's spare a thought for the amazing music that accompanies this film, the music is a true masterpiece. It reminds you of the old Sergio Leone movies yet it also features some more modern and memorable pieces of music, certainly ads a lot to the movie. Certainly worth checking out the soundtrack (of both Vol.1 & 2)
Overall, a great and entertaining movie and certainly worth seeing. Better than Volume 1? it's hard to make the comparison because they are that different. If lots of gore, flying limbs and extraordinary fights are you're thing, Volume 1 is perfect. If a more in depth story line, more emotional feeling towards the characters yet still enough action to please the eye is you're thing Volume 2 is perfect so I suppose it's a matter of taste. Comparing the movies on just cinematic movie terms, Volume 2 wins it for being just that little more in depth, don't worry it still features loads of action!:)
SPOILERS!!!
1*
Towards the end it becomes clear that The Bride's daughter is still alive and lives with Bill (who's the father).
2*
The fight between The Bride and Elle Driver is classic and it's especially good when The Bride rips out Elle Driver's (only healthy) eye out, throws it on the ground and tramps right on it to reveal a shot of The Bride's naked foot (she's got no shoes on) with the bits of the eye squishing in between her toes, very black, yet funny, humour. The Bride then leaves Elle to die (nobody knows what actually happens with her at the end of the movie though...) who's going insane in the pain of having her eye ripped out banging around the bathroom trying to gain some sort of composure.
SPOILERS END
Hakeem 17-04-2004, 10:56:AM Kill Bill Volume 2: BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!! :bob: Tied with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Music and Sound are awesome again. One of the best you'll here ever in a movie. Tarantino obviously knows what he's doing. What a genius. :read:
The Fights are tremendous. No all the blood shown in volume 1, but this time they're classier.
And without spoiling anything, I have to say that I still cant decide which kill was better, Elle Driver's or Bill's. Both were F*CKING AMAZING! :hit: :rockman:
Pai Mei: the whole training with Pai Mei was excellent, and hillarious. Everytime he grabbed his beard I couldnt stop laughing. Excellent. :funny:
The Hidden Gem: watch (or listen carefully) for someone special in the wedding massacre scene. Just 2 words: BAD MOTHERFVCKER :ewan:
So yeah, this movie is so good it hurts. (Y)
My Rating: 10 out of 10. Tarantino is a GOD

Ah yes Pai Mei, lol. That's what I was refering to though with the 70's style style. Dead funny the way he grabbed his beard all the time lol and the close up of the eye and then the quick zoom out to the whole body and the over the top "swoosh" sounds(H)
I agree, this one surely has to be the best movie in a long while, excellent!

No that wasnt it, there was good action scening but it just seemed boring:confused: I dont know why but i just didnt like it, I hated the spanish guy ( couldnt uderstand what the **** he was saying ) Bill was just stupid and talked a bunch of bolony. I thought that they just forcused on one thing too much, they kept trying to make the movie longer or something:confused: Overall i personally didnt like it but i thought i would have enjoyed this movie, i like the first one better.
Well thats just my opinion, also Hakeem what is Eternal Sunshine movie about i was thinking of watching that movie?

Yeah I understand.
the thing is that, for I thought, this one was more about explaining the love story between the bride and bill. and I loved how they did it.
and about bill talking 'bolony', I loved everything he said. his superman explanation is classic.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is a weird love story. you have the love story between jim carrey and Kate Winslet, and you also has everything that happens around them as the movie plays inside memories of jim carrie about them. its awesome (Y)
Hakeem 18-04-2004, 10:07:AM oh, and about the spanish guy, even I, that speak spanish all my life, had trouble understanding him. the thing is that something happened with the original actor (my theory), cause tarantino used the same guy that was the sheriff in volume one. and he's not mexican, he's american and his spanish sucked.
PhiLLer 18-04-2004, 06:02:PM I understood the spanish guy (the pimp) perfectly...

On a slightly different note, the Kill Bill soundtrack (both 1&2) are up there with the best such as Once Upon A Time In The West and For A Few Dollars More. What a stunning soundtrack!
i just watched the movie, and i liked it. i thought it was better then the first one, just too much talking. about the soundtrack though, does anybody know that song that played at the end, when the credits rolled? it was a spanish song i think.
PhiLLer 25-04-2004, 08:19:AM I can't remember 100% exactly what song it is but I think it's Chingon (Robert Rodriguez' band) with Malaguena Salerosa

anyway I saw both movies this week, but liked the first one better but overral noth were good :)
*does anyone remember what the say about NICARAGUA in the first movie? I remember it was something about Nicaraguan killers or something...
butkis 28-04-2004, 05:37:PM shocking movie!! and uma thurman is a dog
RochesterFC1013 01-05-2004, 09:33:AM i thought the movie was decent but there was less action than the first. the way she kills him is great.

$teauA 28-12-2004, 05:26:AM OK believe it or not I've just finished watching the movie I saw the first one ages ago but haven't got the chance to see the second one until today lol so I got a couple of questions which I'm sure you'll be able to answer (hint...Hakeem....hint) (H).
1) Didn't Budd shoot Beatrice right in the middle of the chest with a shotgun how the hell did she survive?
2) When Bill starts to ask her those questions at the end the second one he starts by saying "All those people you killed, they were all ............. weren't they?" well where you see the dots I couldn't understand what he said and I listened to it over and over (no cc :() she responds by saying "yes" and then he says "all of them?" and she says "yes", so please tell me if you know.
That's it, thanks :) (H)
Hakeem 28-12-2004, 06:43:AM 1- well, she had the jacket, and maybe they were real rounds or something cause he wanted to bury her from the start I think so he wasnt trying to kill her.
2- I dont remember that conversation. what were they talking about?
$teauA 28-12-2004, 07:54:AM It's after Beatrice puts her daughter to sleep and then she goes in that living room area and Bill is there and he shoots her with the truth serum and says that he wants to ask her some questions and that she shot her with the serum because he would never believe what she would say otherwise so he starts to ask her questions and the second question he asks her is about what I said in my previous post, he is asking her about why she did what she did and how she feels about it can't really tell you anything more than that :(
Hakeem 28-12-2004, 11:10:AM damn, Ive tried finding the script online but all the time I found the original script and not the actual movie's one and the ending was different in that one :(
Sir Calumn 28-12-2004, 08:46:PM Just want to interject here and say that the Kill Bill films are the best films ever made - absolutely brilliant, and awesome pair with absolutely everything.
What bit of the script are you trying to remember?
Hakeem 28-12-2004, 09:01:PM the ones he mentioned in the last post of the last page
Sir Calumn 28-12-2004, 09:28:PM Oh ok, thanks.
1 - He just shot her with Rock Salt which would never kill a human, though it spreads out and eats into the flesh making it very painful, though to be honest I'm surprised a woman as tough as her was as imobilised as she was.
2 - Like Hakeem, I can only find the old draft script, but I have a feeling he said "they were all pretty good, werent they?" or words to that effect. I'll keep looking though.
$teauA 29-12-2004, 02:44:AM Yeah I was thinking that he said that as well but her reaction when she answered wouldn't really fit because she said yes and while saying it she burst out crying so I don't see why she would do that.
Sir Calumn 29-12-2004, 02:57:AM It would make sense, she was probably crying with disgust with herself, and I'm sure having a needle stuck into her leg didnt help.
$teauA 29-12-2004, 06:26:AM Hahaha :D good point, I'll just leave it at that then.

and about Vic and Vincent, its time Tarantino starts making his old projects, specially The Vega Brothers (Y)

and about Vic and Vincent, its time Tarantino starts making his old projects, specially The Vega Brothers (Y) Yeah, that would be awesome. He's actually written scripts for a Pulp Fiction 2 and a Kill Bill 3 aswell, but I dont think he ever intends to make them. He's working on a couple of things at the moment though, a war film which I think is a Dirty Dozen remake and a remake of Casino Royale. Both should be awesome with his touch.
PS: The case in Pulp Fiction contains the diamonds from Reservoir Dogs, I'm sure of it :p
Hakeem 01-01-2005, 12:27:AM yep, probably :p
and I didnt hear about the Pulp 2 script but I do know about KB3 which would be the story of Vernita's little girl going back in ten years to get revenge from The Bride.
and yeah, the war movie is called 'Inglorious Bastards':
IMDB 1: A group of disgraced U.S. soldiers during World War Two manage to escape the execution squad by going on a daring mission to help the Allies in the fight against the Nazis.
IMDB 2: Set in World War 2, Tarantino's story revolves around group of soldiers on their way to be executed, only they get the chance for a reprieval. He describes them as "Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II." This is the only information he will release at present.

Apparently he was about to start making the Vega Brothers when both Madsen and Travolta had to pull out at the last minute, so he went to his fall-back project which was Kill Bill, hence why Madsen is in the first one so little.
