Could someone possibly tell me, would region 0 DVD's play on my cheap UK DVD player? Whenever I ask, they're described as 'multiregional' but I dont know whether this means it will play on any players or just on MultiRegional players or what. I want to buy some but I dont want them unless I know they will work. Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Some companies do actually release regionfree DVDs, I've seen them listed at amazon and at play.

Other companies also release fixed region DVDs. Making your player regionfree would not allow them to be played, as they don't play without a set region.

Yeah, The Cooler is a Region 0 DVD, but I was talking about Asian Imports :P It's the only way you can get films like Kaos and La Strada in English.

Thanks for your help guys, I think I will buy them and chance it.

I tried an Region 0 Asian version of La Strada today and it worked fine, only problem was while I could get English subtitles up, I couldnt get rid of the Chinese one's, but CHinese writing is very small and hardly noticable. I didnt watch it all but just the first 10 minutes restoked my love of Fellini, I cant wait to see the rest.

was it an original DVD? cause the subtitles should have been removable if its a normal DVD.

where the chinese subtitles the same font/size/etc, as the english ones?

I think it was a bootleg - but probably still legal as the copyright restrictions are different in Asia. They were the same size, when I selected English the subtitles were "Chinese • English"

but if it was a bootleg maybe the region is not the same or something
