Funniest Movies of the Year -> Anchorman , Team America, Dodgeball, Starsky And Hutch, Napolean Dynamite and Girl Next Door

Worst "comedy" -> White Chicks (what were the Wayans brothers thinking?), Christmas with the Cranks, Barbershop 2 and Along Came Polly

Biggest Disappointment of the Year -> Alexander (ive crapped more coherent movies than this, Blade 3 (Really, i dont think there were enough slow motion shots of Wesley Snipes doing stupid things. Surprised we didnt see him taking dumps in super slow motion as some over the top music played in the background.), Chronicles of Riddick

Movie I'm Ashamed I liked: Without a Paddle

Character that will be ruined by MTV and stupid teenage girls: Main guy in Napolean Dynamite

Best Appreciated with Second Viewing -> Anchorman (the Champ character especially), Meet The Fockers (im sure it will when i see again)

Best Romantic Movie of the Year -> Dawn Of the Dead (*i dont watch romantic movies*)

Actor's in almost every movie: Jude Law and Ben Stiller

Actress' who got role because of who theyre married to: Christine Taylor, wife of Ben Stiller (Dodgeball)

Movie undeserving of big box office -> The Grudge

Surprised me that it had big box office -> National Treasure

Movies Im happy had bad box office: First Daughter, Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen, both Hilary Duff movies, Wimbledon

Actor who came out looking like a bitch: Orlando Bloom (Troy)

Most Awesome Nudity -> Rosario Dawson (Alexander)

Best character in bad movies: Ryan Reynolds (Blade 3), Hank Azaria (Along Came Polly)

Most unfunny actors in comedies: Chris Walken (Envy), Average Joe's team, Jason Bateman as over the top announcer (Dodgeball), every women in every comedy (ive never found women remotely funny, sorry)

Most unintentionally funny serious movie: The Forgotten

Most painful scenes to watch: all the gay stuff (Alexander), seeing that guys balls as he ran (Sideways)

Most unintentionally funny character in serious movie: the main bad guy that just stands and stares (The Forgotten)

Most unintentional funny parts in serious movies: Tom Cruise tripping in climactic scene (Collateral), main bad guy getting hit by car (The Forgotten), the scenes where characters get 'sucked' up (The Forgotten), bad guys being called 'Necromongers' (Chronicles of Riddick)

Funniest Scenes: The big fight scene in Anchorman, the sex scene in Team America

Best Sports Movie that won by default because of no competiton: Friday Night Lights

Best cameo by non actor: Lance Armstrong (Dodgeball)

Best Score: Team America (brilliance)

Best Zombie movie: Shaun of the Dead (big competition)

Biggest Douchebag : Kevin Costner (even though he had no movies this year), John Travolta (Punisher)

Most obvious use of a token black character to make things politically correct: Chris Williams (black guy in 'Dodgeball'). He also wins my special award for worst and unbearable performance by an actor in a comedy.

Bad director that almost ruined good movie - Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball), honestly, what the hell was he thinking with the casting for the average joes team? I dont know how you screw up a casting call like this (although they didnt have much material to work with). And what about Bateman as the over the top announcer. This time Bateman had good lines to work with, but still messed it up. I like the guy in Arrested Development, but he can only play the 'straight sarcastic guy' in a comedy, which is fine.

(although im bashing a lot of aspects of it, i thoroughly enjoyed Dodgeball. Any time you get David Hasselhoff and Chuck Norris in a movie, good things are bound to happen)

Decent movie that NEVER had a shot in box office: Flight Of The Phoenix

Best New Director/Writer -> Adam Mckay

Movie undeserving of high praise -> Im sure at least 3 of the movies on Hakeem's top ten list i havent seen;)

Best Movie Overall -> Anchorman (i favour comedies)

lol @ the comment to my list :funny: which 3?

and I know you said it, but how did you like Dodgeball after all the bashing you're giving it?

also, I loved Bateman's character; the Christine Taylor comment is not necessary, as its obvious and she's in lots of movies with Stiller, nothing wrong there; I didnt have problems with the Average Joe's guys  ; and Flight of the Phoenix really sucks (N)

Seriously there are really not that many films mentioned there... but what you have written is good.

Well, for all the praise 'Eternal Sunshine' is getting, its got a lot to live up to when i see it. Kill Bill 2 amazing, i saw that. I think I'll like Garden State. Sky Captain could go either way. i know ill like Incredibles. Motorcycle Diaries could be alright, but i cant see myself putting it in top 10. I know ill like life aquatic, Anderson, Murray and Wilson are some of my favs. I saw Sideways, thought it was alright, nothing too special. I know nothing about Machinist. I think ill like Closer the same way i do 'Collateral', pretty good, not something id necessarily wanna see again.

Im not saying Flight of The Phoenix was amazing, just that it was a good popcorn movie that kept me entertained. I cant see why the studio would green light it though, it never had a chance of doing well at the box office.

About Dodgeball. There's never been a movie that:

A) being better casted couldve been leaps better

B) Easy to write characters were blown (average Joe's and Bateman announcer)

C) the fast forward button came into use better (skip over bad parts)

Speaking of Bateman character, it was sort of like i wanted to like the character and i tried to convince myself he was good, when really, Bateman just isnt right for the character. And like i said, i like Bateman, seems like a nice guy, just cant play roles like this. If youve seen 'Best in show', Fred Willards character is how to do this role right. Surprised Stiller couldnt get Jack Black to do this, he couldve been good.

Hakeem, you liked the Average Joe's team? There wasnt a funny character in the bunch. A perfect comparison i could give you is Anchorman. Ferrell and Mckay got the casting perfect with the 3 other reporters (champ, brick, fontana). I think a way to be safe in instances like this, is when in doubt, cast a current/former SNL or Mad TV cast member, they always deliver the goods. Off the top of my head, heres some casting calls id make instead.

- Chris Kattan (take out tall guy, replace with him)
- Jim Brewer (as pirate, or make it a funnier part)(by the way, this guy is hilarious, i dont know how doesnt have a career)
- Tracy Morgan/Orlando Jones (as the token black character, but take out stereotype lines like, 'Oh Snap', and just give them real role)
- Horatio Sanz (a very funny guy, would kill in a movie like this)

Youre telling me these are better actors for this movie. And they wouldnt cost anymore than the actual actors to get. Damn, when will they give me a job in the movie biz?

As for the actual casting choices..

Tall gawky guy - Was too forced
Pirate Guy - i'm a guy who likes his stupid humour at times, but this guy was just not funny. I know theyre supposed to be a team of outcasts, but thi was just going too far.
insecure middleaged man - All the talent of Stephan Root wasted
Black guy - The worst of all. And thats saying a lot. Didnt say ONE LINE, remotely funny.
Male cheerleader guy - the best of the lot, which isnt saying too much. Was the only character who didnt make the movie worse

As for Christine Taylor, its not that she did a bad job. Like Zoolander, after the movie you have no opinion at all for her. She was just there, and filled the obligatory 'hard to get girl' position. The Unicorn appartment joke fell flat.

Another character i wasnt too fond of was Rip Torn. I've never really liked his style of comedy, but he had a couple good lines.

After all this, you may assume i didnt like this movie, which is wrong.

- Every scene with Ben Stiller was incredible. I'd say it was one of his better performances of his career, if not the best. Considering hes in a lot of scenes this helped save all the other downfalls.

- Meshell as well as the whole 'globo-gym' gimmick was great

- The idea of Dodgeball was awesome. and the actual tournament was laughs from start to finish. I wish it was longer.

- Even though it wasnt his best performance, Vaughn still had a solid performance.

- Lance Armstrongs cameo actual had value and was funny

Overall, i think if this movie was in better hands it couldve been a lot better. The Farelly brothers couldve done a good job i think.

If you have the DVD, check out the 'alternate ending', much better than the actual 'happy ending'. and i'm pretty sure it was also a tribute to the Karate Kid, a great movie in itself.

of course that if you compare Anchorman's team to the Average Joes they'll just get crushed but I just say that I didnt find them bad.

they werent comedy genius like Brick and Brian Fantana, but Justin Long (male cheerleader), Steve The Pirate and Stephen Root were funny to me.
the black guy you're right, I actually cant remember anything he did or say that was funny. and the other guy either.

about Rip Torn, I agree, I had seen the Dodgeball tutorial by Hank Azaria before watching the movie and I loved it and was really excited to see Azaria depelop the character in the movie, and we I saw that Rip Torn was Patches O'Hooligan now I was really dissapointed :(

Dodgeball was crap. Only mediocre laughs. The best part was the Armstrong cameo (:/)

are you kidding me? Dodgeball was class. The plot was stupid as hell but it had great one liners.

Patches O'Houlihan is just

"You're about as useful as a cock flavored lollipop"

Vaughn joins the list of the not funny actors that think they're funny. Adam Sandler and Owen Wilson are still on top of that list though.

Vince Vaughn?!?!?!?

Did you see Old School, Swingers, Starsky and Hutch.

I love his kind of comedy. All those guys bring there own element of comedy.

Whatever, if you dont like him you dont like him.

yeah I thought it was pretty crappy too. It had the odd funny moment here and there but pretty so-so overall in my opinion. The whole movie seemed like an attempt to cash in on Old School's popularity...Vince Vaughn, bunch of oddball underdogs, blah, blah...all been done to death already.

Vince Vaughn is cool though, I think he's found his niche with comedy. Although I really liked him in Return to Paradise..

I'd still rather have Vaughn in comedies rather in those serious movies, like Psycho.

good point. But he's not a really funny guy. He does his job in comedies but he alone can't get you to laugh.

Oh and Will Ferrel stole the show in Old School. Frank Da Tank (H)

You'll love Garden State, I reckon it's Hakeem's best ever tip. I didnt enjoy The Incredibles, but I never really enjoy animated films and I could recognise how good it was. I really want to see The Motorcycle Diaries, being a massive Easy Rider fan, it's out here on DVD now so I will get it ASAP. I cant wait for Sideways either, its in the cinemas in January here and is getting awesome reviews.

EDIT: On the Vince Vaughn topic, I reckon his best performace came in Blackball.
