Just watched it. What a movie!
Brilliant performance by William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin. You really get carried away in the movie and you start to feel for William H. Macy's character, Bernie. Loved the ending although it wasn't quite predictable at one stage.

It's a good movie, nothing special but I wish they made more movies like this. Feel good movies without having a specific target audience.

agree that it was an excellent movie though for some reason it never quite hit to the point when I want to watch it again.

William H Macy! (Y)
If they ever make a film called 'The Simpsons' he should be Ned Flanders.

Yeah I really loved this film too, it's in my top 10 of the year. I loved William H Macey in Fargo, and he is even better in this - very original and came out in the cinemas at a time when most of the other stuff out was crap so it was very out of the blue. Alec Baldwin was great aswell, first good performance I've seen from him.
I am expecting an oscar nomination for Macey though.

The Cooler was released in 2003 if I'm not mistaken.

In the UK it was released in the summer of 2004.
EDIT: Sorry, I guess you mean that it would have been eligible for the last oscar ceremony and not for this one, if so I expect you're probably right.

Yeah he is right.
Macy was good in Boogie Nights and Magnolia also. Every film I have seen him in he is pretty good.
