Team selection in career mode:
If you can't find your team in a region in career mode, choose that team as your "Own Team" in your profile in My FIFA 2005. You will then find that team listed first in its current region.

I couldn't get that to work, does anyone know how you can get the top sides in the job selection for career mode?

You can't get the top teams such as Arsenal in your first season.

There are 2 factors that determine wether a team will be available to show up in selection for career mode.

First off, certain leagues only become available after your first season. For instance first year you can't select a team even in FA league one although it may be your favorite and it may be the worst team even worse than all the league two teams.

Secondly, teams with a high enough "star rating", relative to your manager's star rating, may be unavailable depending on the number of teams in the league. For instance, if you have tried enough you will notice Swansea City never show up in the first year in FA league two. THIS _can_ be overcome to some extent by selecting a favorite team. Try setting Swansea City as your favorite and given any luck they show up.

Various real cheats (as opposed to stuff you can do in the game) are available out there.

There is a FIFA trainer that runs in the background while you play the game that you can use to add manager points, upgrade points, money for transfers, etcetera. Problem is, that it only works on a game you have loaded from a save, so it will not help you in the first season team selection (and not sure that adding manager stars would do the trick there anyhow).

You can also edit the database to move your premiership team into the lower leagues, play around with their squad settings to make them look worse than they are, and select as your favorite and get them. Of course, this works also to get a lower-league team that you might really like and is otherwise unavailable.

Or you can just wait a season or two, play Celtic to a couple titles and get lots of upgrade points and money before jumping over.

The first time i played FIFA i chose Celtic and won the league. I chose to go to Norwich City in the FA and now i wish i had stayed at Celtic... Now i start another season, Celtic isnt in the Region 1 anymore :kader:

In that case forgot to mention another in-game "cheat" of sorts.

Go back out to the region selection screen and back into your region, every time to select a region the random mix of teams is re-generated so (if it is possible at all) given enough tries your team, Celtic or whomever, will show up.

I dunno for me career mode is getting to be a real drag because of the issues with keeping your transfer budget and re-shuffling your staff points as you like when you switch teams. That and you can go way too crazy in the transfer market anyhow without screwing your team chemistry.

...........

I KNOW, there can be a lot or lack of cheats depending on your editing skill.
