it has to be godfather part 3 the ending of the trilogy of the best films ever. This is a still a very underrated film, its not as good as 1 and 2 but the ending is amazing when michael's daughter is shot by that bastard assasin and there are flash backs of a michaels life and the music and his reaction to his daughters death, he doesnt make a noise, i feel that this makes it more effective, the music adds to this which is the best ending ever

Ghost :-puke:

Best ending ever is Usual Suspects, no contest there, first time you see it if you feel you have been played with and outsmarted completely by the director.

Ending of "The Others" and "Ring" (Japanese version, scared me for days to come)

hahahaa, LOTR Return of The King ends awfully, he tried to do justice to the book.

Well Jackson, there's a reason a film is usally two hours long and a book can take days to read, lol.

Best ending... hmm.. Not sure ill have a think. AI probably the worst ending.

TROD.

Hmmm, I think I've got to go with Virgo and say The Usual Suspects, even for those who did guess or know it (I had been told the ending before :() it was still done so perfectly that it was quite amazing. I really like the ending of Arlington Road aswell, cos it's not the usual happy, neat ending that you get so often. The climax at the end of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is superb aswell. Other great endings include Reservoir Dogs, Citizen Kane, Goodfellas (in my opinion, the image of Henry as a normal member of the public is the most haunting of them all), Easy Rider and Miller's Crossing, and probably some more I can't remember.

Films which started off really well but had really disappointing ending include A Fistful of Dollars and The Big Lebowski.

Definitely the Usual Suspects. The ending is what made that movie so great.

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

Some more great endings

Sixth Sense
Requiem for a Dream
Reservoir Dogs
Omen
Memento
Vanishing Point
Fight Club
American Hisotry X
Identity
Twelve Monkeys
Mulholland Drive
Midnight Cowboy

to name a few...

American History X has a good ending.

Just recently i seen the directors cut of Butterfly Effect and i liked the ending on that too.

worst ending was blade trinity because the story of the last part was kinda dum, as it was they just kinda find him and just take his blood to kill the vampires.(no complains for the action and the jokes)

The Village:|

my favorites(no particular order):
1. American History X; it became my instant favorite film of all time, but unfortunately for them I saw "City of God"...Edward Norton's recognition of the drive-by had me quivering, then seeing him run through the crowd only to see his brother shot to death had me crying...it reminded me of how much a brother means (i have only 1 brother;3 years old)

2. Momento; complete masterpiece from begining to end...

3. Fight Club; they were the same person..:o

4. Reservoir Dogs; seeing Spacey in slow motion as he walked away and then his "walk" becoming a different "walk" is one of the best scenes ever...it gave the movie a complete wrap. As I saw it again for a 2nd time, i thought to myself...."Spacey is a god among gods" Kaiser Sose:mrpimp:

5. Machinist; speechless:X

Get a sense of humour then :crazyboy:

I liked the ending to LotR, and it was ended that way because that's how JRR Tolkien wrote it. In the book however, at the end all the Orcs rocked up in hobbiton, and you only have to guess what happens then...

I also liked the end to Leon (The Professional), that was good, an awesome film!

The ending to the third Lord of the Rings film was neither faithful to the book or a good commercial ending - just plain poor.

Worst movie and ending ever.... A.I.(Artificial Intelligence) "and then the world froze over" (and Nimreitz says to himself, FINALLY THIS 7 HOUR SUCK FEST IS OVER!!!) "But then aliens came to earth and dug in the ice and found him." NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

30 minutes later: The aliens can bring your mom to life even though she's been dead for a million years and completely ditched you in the woods.

Best ending ever: La Haine

French film starring Vincent Cassell. ******* brilliant, but I doubt anyone's seen it. I highly recommend it though.

Yeah, it is a very unexpected and moving ending.

I love La Haine aswell, France produces some excellent criminal low-life underword films (La Balance, Police etc) and La Haine is probably the best best.

Italian film with an 'out of the blue' ending. It makes incest look cool.

I read on IMDB, that there is an alternate ending to American History X. Supposedly after Edward Norton's character burries his brother, he goes home and shaves his head:o . I think the message of the film would've died and it also steals some of the power way. What do u guys think?

you guys didnt mention probably the BEST ending of all time: Shawshank Redemption..............like that ending literally sent shivers down my spine. What a movie! (should have won the oscar in 94)

Sir Calumn
24-01-2005, 11:40:PM
Nah, the oscar in 1994 should have gone to Pulp Fiction, it was a traversty that Forrest Gump got it instead.

Shawshank Redemption is an awesome film with an awesome ending though, I have no idea why it flopped so much when it was first released. One of my fav films of all time.

Shindig
25-01-2005, 02:31:AM
Trouble with Pulp Fiction is the fact that it had about 3 different endings.

Forrest Gump got the sympathy vote, probably. The Fast Show pretty much summed it up.

[i]"I looooooooooove you."
"I love you too, poor Disabled guy"

Sir Calumn
25-01-2005, 02:39:AM
In my opinion that is what is so brilliant about Pulp Fiction, but I guess it's more for isolated, twisted individuals like me than the general populus.

Hakeem
25-01-2005, 06:41:AM
dont diss on Forrest. just because Pulp Fiction is a cooler movie it doesnt mean its better.
I love both PF and Forrest so I would've give the Oscar for best picture (a bigger movie to make) and director and screenplay to Tarantino (great story, and more performances that in Forrest)

Sir Calumn
25-01-2005, 11:09:PM
I thought Forrest Gump was a vastly inferior film to Pulp Fiction - I would have given Screenplay, Director, Supporting Actor or Actor (whichever Jackson classes as) and Supporting Actress or Actress (whichever Thurman classes as) all to PF.

Fight Club (though I liked the book's ending better, the movie's ending is more fitting for a movie... people would have booed the movie if it ended like it did in the book) ps. my favorite book

Donnie Darko

Scarface

Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy 3....just joking....
