the ban imposed on the portuguese players is f*@#ing ridiculous, if the ref played by the rules then Xavier should have been sent off as both the linesman & uefa saw the incident as deliberate hand ball.
I would like to know if any of you guys ever heard of a referee changing his mind when awarding a penalty, but in this case he pointed to a corner kick , only when those frogs acosted the linesman he changed his decision, bull****, when the ref is in doubt he must give the benefit of doubt to the defending side.
I am in accord with Figo when he states that there was a lot of people (uefa) that did not want Portugal to progress further.

Why always put the blame on others? Xavier was stupid, the linesman (actually the assistant referee) was right. The referee has every right to change his mind if the assistant referee tells him what he saw. There was no doubt with the assistant referee. And Figo should think before he speak, he can get suspended for making false acquisations.

I have seen referees first giving a penalty and then, on advice of the assistent referee, decide otherwise. That is also harsh, but part of the GAME.
