THIS THREAD IS ACTUALLY ABOUT AN EASY WAY OF EDITING YOUR DATABASE TO PLAY ANY TEAM IN ANY LEAGUE YOUR FIRST SEASON IN CAREER MODE.

YES, IT CAN BE DONE. ONLY REQUIRES EDITING TWO FIELDS IN ONE RECORD OF THE MAIN DB.

THIS WAS COMBINED BY THE MODERATORS FROM SEVERAL THREADS AND TUCKED AWAY IN THE EDITING FORUM SO FOLKS HAVE TO REALLY LOOK FOR IT.

AT THE MOMENT IT IS ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN ON PAGE 2, AT LEAST WITH MY VIEWING SETTINGS (ANY WAY TO GET A LINK TO THAT PARTICULAR POST HERE?). BUT THERE IS SOME INFO BEFORE THAT HERE ON CHANGING LEAGUES TOO WHICH MIGHT BE USEFUL TO SOMEONE.

AT FIRST I THOUGHT YOU HAD TO RELEGATE YOUR TEAM TO GET THEM, however NOT SO AND IN FACT THE SOLUTION IS MUCH SIMPLER THAN THAT. YOU WILL NOT EVEN HAVE TO ADJUST SQUADS OR ADD CRAPPY PLAYERS OR SET FAVORITE TEAM OR ANYTHING.

READ DOWN A FEW PAGES TO FIND OUT HOW IT CAN WITHOUT HAVING TO RELEGATE YOUR TEAM TO A LOWER LEAGUE.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You must get around the built-in game blocks of
a) if your team is in an advanced league
b) if your team has too many stars rating

You fix (b) by changing your squad, usually just subbing reserves into the lineup works, esp find the suckiest skill for the strikers

You can fix (a) by demoting your favorite upper-league team to the boonies. Just edit the database using UniDB to export for Data Guy and find the team-league links and rtsg table then demote your team and promote someone else in their place. The editing tutorial has a list of team id's. Re-name your original db file and import using UniDB back into your fifa db.

I tried this with my favorite EPL team and it worked. I am starting a new career from scratch with them in FA League Two / Division Three. If you can get over the shudder of seeing your favorite team relegated multiple times before you step in then it is kind of neat.

Well, not making a value judgement, just letting you know it CAN be done - without any patches that are language-dependent - and it works.

I've seen in my brief time here a lot of grumbling about not being able to play a career with your favorite upper-division team until after all the plaers have retired.

Well, there is a way around it, and in fact your team will probably kick butt for a few promotions with no additions to boot, giving you more upgrades, so you can concentrate more on developing players rather than mass transfers.

Probably mostly an issue with English EPL/1st/2nd division teams as technically I think you are able to coach in the Italian and Spanish first leagues right away. Why EA decided to permit you start off in upper leagues there and in England no matter how bad you make your team look I don't know.

Eire2k6

Okay, here is exactly what I did.

First I came up with a plan for how to promote and relegate teams.
Blackburn, my team, was going from FA Premier to FA League Two (shudder)
Leicester City, Walsall and Rushden all seemed like a good choices to reverse their relegations from real life soccer last year so...

1. I went to the team creation tutorial and looked up the teamid numbers for each of these teams from the list he has as you go thru the tutorial webpages.
Blackburn = 3
Leicester City = 95
Walsall = 1803
Rushden = 1942
I wrote these down for use in all the following.

2. I used UniDB (downloadable via link on the tutorial webpage) to copy my EA database to an MS Access database (there are instructions on the tutorial webpage on how to do this).

3. I used Blueshell Data Guy (same comments as above) to edit the following items in the database.
in table_leagueteamlinks
the original record with teamid=3 shows leagueid=13, I changed the teamid to 95
the original record with teamid=95 shows leagueid=14, I changed the teamid to 1803
the original record with teamid=1803 shows leagueid=60, I changed the teamid to 1942
the original record with teamid=1942 shows leagueid=61, I changed the teamid to 3

This reverses last year's relegations for these teams, with a whopping relegation for Blackburn instead, and puts all the teams in their new leagues.
However, this only changes the team location in the menus useable for friendlies. You will not find the teams in their leagues in career mode unless you change the schedule generator database also.

4. Again using Data Guy, I opened table_team_lookup to change it as follows.
found the record with teamid=3 has rtsgt=3145742
found the record with teamid=95 has rtsgt=3145745
found the record with teamid=1803 has rtsgt=4194325
found the record with teamid=1942 has rtsgt=5242901
I found all these first and wrote them down to use as follows.
the record with teamid=3 I changed to rtsgt=5242901
the record with teamid=95 I changed to rtsgt=3145742
the record with teamid=1803 I changed to rtsgt=3145745
the record with teamid=1942 I changed to rtsgt=4194325

(NOTE - NEWLY EDITED ABOVE SHOULD BE RIGHT NOW, EVERYBODY BUMPS UP TO THE rtsgt FOR THE LEAGUE SPOT THEY ARE PROMOTED INTO)

This will allow career mode to recognize the league changes in the schedule generator.

5. Now I closed the MS Access databse and use UniDB to put my changes into the EA database.
MAKE SURE YOU COPY YOUR ORIGINAL DATABASE FILE FIRST SO YOU CAN GET BACK!

6. Note you also now should re-set your favorite team setting to the team you wish to play, in its new league, as this makes it possible to play a team with slighty higher skill ratings.
Even if you think you did this previously you will now have to re-enter your choice as the database changes (changing leagues and all) will wipe it out.

7. Finally, as you already know, go into My FIFA squads and move your two lowest-skill outfield players to your striker positions and the remaining 8 lowest-skill to the remaining 8 positions.
This makes your team look real terrible without actually changing a darn thing that you can't back right out of in career mode.

One other thing, I also vastly improved the Blackburn kit by a simple database change as well.
It always bugged me that the game had black numbers for the Rovers home kit instead of red with white outline.
I changed table_teamkits as follows
for the record with teamid=3 and kitype=0 (the Rovers home kit)...
change numbercolorid to 96 (copied from PSG kit database which is same number color)
change namecolor to 17 (the Rovers 3rd jersey color)
change numbercolor to 17

(note my sig has an older version before I got this quite right)

And it all works.

Oh, FYI, in my case before I started my career I also used squad manager to make the following 'trades' (gave about 8-10k more than got in each case so I felt I was being fair)
Newcastle's Alan Shearer to Rovers for Jon Stead and Andy Todd
Celtic's Chris Sutton to Rovers for Paul Dikov and Javier De Pedro
Two good but too old too slow forwards in EA, both just for historical interest to play a couple seasons
Didn't give up anyone who is likely going to have starting job in my career mode as I have Jansen and Gallagher if I didn't have the SAS

The poor Cheltenham Town keeper, just up from the conference for their first league game, facing several hundred premiership goals between the two opposing strikers!

Personally, I'd let this thread die off now or ask to have it moved to the editing or kits forum maybe. I am new to the forum and don't quite have my web legs yet, sorry!

Anyone have a working link to download the FIFA 2005 Career Customizer?

That does _not_ go thru Soccer Access or File Front (or FIFA International which goes thru File Front). Please.

I don't know why people are finding this such a hard thing to work out - In time you should be able to manage/play for the team of your choice but when you start off its like anything, you just won't/shouldn't start from the top and stay there.

Sure the 1st season might be boring however it is a 15yr career mode and things do take time even on a game style situation such as this.

problem is, career mode being what it is, players get better, get worse, retire, etc - both on your favorite team and on its rivals. so if you wait a year or two you might find your team a bit different.

i once got to the rovers after two or three years waiting, only to find no dickov up front, and no friedel in goal anymore, and no keane to play against at man-u, etcetera, and all the players were either a bit better or a bit worse in odd ways.

it isn't the wait per se, it just is not the same.

a big marketing mistake by EA if you ask me. i paid for the game, why the heck can't i friggin do what i want with it?

I did it! You can indeed start from year one in the EPL with the team of your choice! Or as many upgrade points as you like.

I only tried it with the first manager that pops up, didn't even change his name, but I suspect it would work no matter what you did for name or even picture.

(ed - yes, it does)

Here is what I did to the database.

table_team_manager

under the record beginning with manager_id = 0

set team_id and prev_team_id both = 3
this gave me Everton in EPL, and congratulated me on being hired back.

(ed - you only need to set team_id, and for how the team_id codes work different from the rest of the db see further down this thread - basically 0-1-2-3 here is team id's 1-3-5-7 from the rest of the db and I have no clue yet how to get an even-numbered team)

set upgrade_(whatever) = however upgrade points you want in each category

(on a scale of 0-125 for 0-10 stars, or 0.08 stars - 8 actual upgrade points - per point, otherwise it wraps around modulus-style)

note a couple things I tried did not work in this, these are the only fields I found that did anything constructive and when I for instance tried to set my season_count to 1 I started in the post-season screen.

Also, team_id 3 is supposed to be Blackburn Rovers (well, actually, I know it is) but I got Everton (id=7) doing this.

So someone creative can maybe figure out the relation between the entry here and the team_id.

But we're there mates!

I see your point. I think what really would be best is if you had the standard EA career mode like we do already and then had the option for a Customised Career mode which is played along the same lines just you choose your team then should please everyone

What did Team Id 7 make avaliable?

Eire2k6
06-01-2005, 11:39:AM
team = 0 is Arsenal (team_id = 1 in the rest of the db)
team = 1 is Blackburn (team_id = 3 in the rest of the db)
team = 3 is Everton (team_id = 7 in the rest of the db)

bear in mind when trying to figure a pattern that computers sometimes start at 0 instead of 1 and that there is no team_id = 6 team. but I am still mystified, and delerious because there are the Rovers! :taz:

every 10 points in upgrade_* is 80 upgrade points (0.8 stars)

i think the generic upgrade points at the start of the record is for your upgrade point "bank" and there may be a limit there (100?) but you can take each indivdual upgrade coach all the way up (10 stars = 125 I suppose) this way (with corresponding lack of fun in the game kind of)

still, the way i see it the suspension of reality for anyone being hired as even Cheltenham Town's manager is so ridiculous one might as well start out as Arsenal's, and if you are going to presume "well you have a low-level career before this" then you might as well presume part of that is the league 2 etc.

for my upcoming coaching season (like in 3 months when i get done with my current season)...i might try to hack the team by subbing in the crappy players and i will probably get to start of with UNAM....

...but dropping a team into lower divisions is just wrong, and even if i could do it (i play on ps2)...i wouldnt do it.

...i've already planned this for my next coaching season:

i will create Pele, Maradona, and Gil Ambriz...my self:D...RATINGS: (Pele; 17 years old; *89rating) (Maradona; 16 years old; *88rating) (Gil Ambriz; 18 years old; *84rating)

1. name of coach: Hugo Sanchez
2. 1st team=UNAM 2nd team=Santos (brazil) 3rd team=Madrid
...after i've been with Madrid for 2 seasons...i will take a journey through: A.C. Milan OR Juve...Bayer Munich...Arsenal...Monaco...maybe FC Porto...and finish it off with Madrid:rockman: ...just so i can unlock all the 3rd jerseys & Colina...and maybe some balls
3. by this time...Fifa 2006 should be knocking at the door

...it seems so far away, i'm only in my 7th season with my first coach:(:D

Eire2k6
06-01-2005, 07:55:PM
OT reply: I s/b getting FM-2k5 in a few days, can't wait to start managing Cork City since apparently EA decided not to include Ireland, Wales, Uruguay or Argentina and FM-2k5 even has the Irish lower division league. If I can figure out how to do kits there is probably enough player data in FM-2k5 to make a FIFA Eircom patch, by about the time FIFA-2k6 comes out.

Eire2k6
06-01-2005, 09:09:PM
Okay folks, I think the pattern holds. I tried team=2 and it is indeed Chelsea (team_id=5). So that is team_id's 1-3-5-7 for team=0-1-2-3. The fact that there is no team_id 6 doesn't appear to matter at all. Probably freak your program out if put in a team that does not exist in the db.

You also only need to actually edit 1 field, the table_team_manager field called team_id in the rocord for the first manager. It still thinks you are hiring back in.

So this becomes a very, very simple edit.

btw if you need a list of team_id's for the bulk of the database I got mine off Paul Applegate's Team Creation Tutorial page on disciplenations. Like most of the database stuff, it now resides in a very handy excel spreadhseet I made up.

And it appears the upgrade points scale is correct, 0-125 for 0-10 stars (0-1000 actual points or 8 actual points, 0.08 stars, per database point).

Now the huge looming question is - what the heck do you do to get even-numbered teams?

Eire2k6
06-01-2005, 09:57:PM
Well, tried team -2 just for the heck of it (figured -1 was the default and non-negative small integers yield positive odd integers, so maybe negative integers are even integers).

Crash and burn, it is the probably the result when you put a team not in the game. As soon as you go into the team selection screen from your region (at least for region 1) the program crashes back to windows.

So, must be something else. I suspect there is some "magic number" (no, wait, that's :drevil: magic number) above which you start at team 2, 4, 6 (empty), 8, 10... etcetera.

By an odd coincidence, however, most of the real popular teams seem to be odd numbers.

Eire2k6
06-01-2005, 11:34:PM
Tried some more stuff...

The highest-numbered even-odd pair in the game are:

Cesena is team_id 110915 in most of the databse which should correspond to team_id 55457 for this field.
(pretty sure this works, I tried a number as high as the one for Gremio just to test it, across regions and everything, hasn't failed yet)
Sinaloa is team_id 111032 in most of the databse which is still to be determined for this field.

(don't know anything off-hand about these teams or if they national teams or rest-of-wrold or teams you can select)

The first few (EPL) even-numbered teams in the game are

Aston Villa = 2
Bolton Wanderers = 4
Leeds United = 8
Manchester City = 10
Middlesbrough = 12
Nottm Forest = 14
Tottenham Hotspur = 18

So just on a lark I figured 55457 is pretty close to 65536 which is 2^16.
So I tried 65537, figuring 65535 would get the highest odd team, 65536 team 0 (non-existent) and 65537 team 2 (Aston Villa) or at least team 4 (Bolton) if I am wrong about the 0.

Well, no joy yet, another crash and burn with a non-existent team slot.

So still searching for the even-numbered team solution.

any bright ideas? anyone already cracked this long ago?

Eire2k6
07-01-2005, 03:04:AM
Okay, the team_id for this works in a modulus fashion like the upgrade points did.

The modulo is 268435456, or 2^28. Any multiple of this number gives you Arsenal (team_id 1 normally). I only tried a couple, but I suspect any multiple of this number, then add 1, gives you Blackburn (team_id 3 normally). And while I haven't tried any other offsets with any base except 0, I am also pretty sure add 2 still gives id 5, add 3 still gives id 7, etcetera.

You can go all the way as low as negative 2^31, but UniDB will give you an overflow if go even with a few of positive 2^31. Not sure what upper limit is before the overflow - would've assumed 2^31-1 but not so.

However, none of this has revealed what I am looking for, a number, even one, which selects an even-number team_id, for any of the teams with even numbers.

Without that bit of dumb luck half the teams in the database will remain unplayable at start.

Anyone have a friend at EA to ask?

UCLANUPE

Hey guys. I am new to this forum but not to editing games.

There is a relativly simple way to Manage ANY team you want from the very start of your career. The only caveat is that you have to start the team in the lowest divsion.

Example: I was able to move Roma from Serie A to B and manage them from the start. You'll need Blueshell Data guy and UniDB to do it. All you have to do is switch the Roma teamid with that of the serie B team you want to swap up in the leagueteamslinks db and the rtsg db. You can also easliy change the stadium the side plays its games in the stadiums db.

So you'll play one serie B season and then move up to serie A after one good season. :rockman:

Eire2k6
08-01-2005, 01:00:AM
But you no longer need to relegate, and in fact the new manager db change is much simpler _not_ to (only required changing 1 field of 1 record).

the relegation trick one was about two pages ago...
:D

Relegation is just not the same not playing against the expected opposition (for me anyhow)

UCLANUPE
08-01-2005, 06:13:AM
Well just one season simmed against the serie B teams plus the Coppa Nationale against the serie A teams is not a big deal. The bigger deal is EA not allowing you to play the thing the way you want from the start by making all this stuff optional.

BTW, the method stated two pages ago is the long way, I was talking about a MUCH shorter way to dothis by just changing two id's in two files:)

be careful relegating UCLANUPE - not sure what you tried but if you just change team-league links then it relegates you for the main menu but the career mode will not see the change - you also need the rtsg stuff (which for me was much more complex)

why not just change one field in one record, the manager table way, and not have to be relegated at all? play the game the way EA should have let you (if you want) - oddly this option exists in TCM where you can choose to climb your way up or to just get your fav team

over to Man-U man: Man-U is team_id=11 in most of the database, so you would enter "5" in place of "-1" as the team_id field in the table_team_managers record for manager 0.

I am away from FIFA while I digest how to play TCM-2k5, which has the Irish leagues. But I need fsh files with logos and kits for the Irish league teams (I needed them for FIFA anyhow, and the files are 100% compatible, just in tcm you do not apparently need to put them into the big file after getting the fsh).

Chelsea is normally team_id = 5 in the fifa database, so for the fifa.db table_team_manager field called team_id in the record for the first manager you would use "2" derived from (normal team_id-1)/2.

Tottenham is normally team_id = 18 in the fifa database. Since this is an even number nobody has figured out yet how to do this one. Sorry. If you find out post it for everyone.

Okay, folks, I am not going to answer this for every single team. Figure it out yourself before you ask. The team_id codes can be found at...
http://www.disciplenations.com/tct/basictableediting.html
...and, as said all over above, only the odd-numbered teams have been worked out, where you just enter (normal team_id-1)/2.

Hence,
Arsenal (1) you enter 0
Blackburn (3) you enter 1
Chelsea (5), you enter 2
Everton (7), you enter 3
Liverpool (9), you enter 4
Man Utd (11), you enter 5
etcetera

Even a cursory look at the link provided will indicate that every team in FIFA is listed not just EPL teams. There is nothing in that list or in any of my posts suggesting this is limited by region.

So... obviously, region does not matter, for instance I have tried this with teams from South America. I did that just to be certain it really would work and it does.

In fact, I believe earlier in this thread I actually mention this test (Gremio, I believe) explicitly. So I am not quite sure why you are asking this?

It works for any team with an odd-numbered team_id. Just edit it into the fifa.db as described and when you start a new career it thinks you are already manager of that team so when you go to the initial team selection screen they are available.

what i meant is that adding 5 different ids of different regions at once so when i select a any region i can play with many different teams.

is that possible?

thanks for all the information fellas, but just one problem after viewing the tutorial - how do you save the db in blueshell data guy, the "save" function is greyed out. the only option selectable is "save as" which saves as a .con file which is useless. if i select backup/compact it backs up the old database to a read only file, tried converting that back to fifa.db using unidb but for some reason the fifa.db is missing now and says "unable to open fifa.db". luckily i made a copy of it, so renamed that to fifa.db and tried again. it deleted it again and cant find it. i think i'll give up and wait until someone makes a patch that can do this an easy way.

EA sports - i hate you for making me feel dumb when all i wanted to do was be manager of everton :)
