View Full Version : The Worst Casting Decision of All-time
What do you think is the worst casting decision of all time in any movie or tv show?
My award (after much deliberation with my two older brothers) goes to...
Justin Whalin who was cast as Ridley Freeborn in the infamously bad 'Dungeons and Dragons'.
here is looking astronomically gay:

well done, someone remembered who the bloke was! :D :D
TROD.
Sir Calumn 06-01-2005, 11:56:PM Yeah Sofia Coppola for Godfather 3 would be the worst in my opinion.
Gene Hackman in A Bridge to Far was bad too, he is a brilliant actor, but they should have made him an American as his Polish accent is awful. Marlon Brando was a really bad choice for Apocalypse Now, he played a part with such potential really blandly, it should have been Sir Ben Kingsley in my opinion.
no brando was good in it (not as good as everyone makes out) therefore it wasnt THE worst casting decision ever, not the best either though.
TROD.
edit - having said that when you think of the massive build up it is a slight let down, but then again i think thats the point of the film - he's done all this and hasnt really achieved anything
Virgo 07-01-2005, 12:46:AM That I can remember: Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker
This year: Colin Farrel and mostly everyone in Alexander except maybe Val Kilmer. Just terrible.
Sir Calumn 07-01-2005, 01:30:AM Even Anthony Hopkins?
yoyo913 07-01-2005, 01:45:AM Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty, we all know God isn't black (H)
jokin :f***:
there is no god :hump:
Mikey 07-01-2005, 02:27:AM Well, as i said in another post theres a lot of poor casting choices in Dodgeball.
George Clooney as Batman (N)
Alan Cumming as Night Crawler (N)
Ian Mackellan as Magneto (N)
comic book movies always come to mind when i think 'bad casting'
Virgo 07-01-2005, 03:16:AM yes even Anthony Hopkins
$teauA 07-01-2005, 03:50:AM Bush as himself in Farenheit 9/11, wtf where they thinkin :|
i know what you mean mikey, superhero movies tend to be plagued by bad casting
TROD.
Sir Calumn 07-01-2005, 04:38:AM In my opinion, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were the only good points in an otherwise obissmal film.
no, Patrick Stewart was the only good point of an otherwise diabolical film ( s )
TROD.
Vagegast 07-01-2005, 04:58:AM Ashton Kutcher in the Butterfly Effect
I just couldn't shake the image of him from That 70s Show. Which ruined the movie.

TROD. I thought Ian McKellen was good, his character was pretty gay but I thought he pulled it off well. Infact, I think its an example of brilliant casting as anyone else would have sucked majorly.
Thelonious 07-01-2005, 08:34:AM I remember seeing a film can't remember the name , which had peter sellers playing an Indian guy , he had brown make up on and talked with an accent.
Mikey 07-01-2005, 11:17:AM Mackellan is fine for Gandalf, but come on Magneto is supposed to be a more physical threat than that. His acting was good though, and nobody would look good in that stupid helmet.

PhiLLer 07-01-2005, 11:20:PM It's called The Party, brilliant comedy. Peter Sellers is great as Hurundi V Bakshi in that. Unlimited slapstick.
It's brilliant casting actually because he pulls it off so well and nobody else could have played it so well.

I have had the fortune of not seeing more than a few episodes of that on the plane. It's okay, but I still have an untainted view of Ashton Kutcher (Dude, where's my car, etc.)
(H)
$teauA 08-01-2005, 02:13:AM And about dude where's my car I saw Harold and Kumar yesterday, :rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:

Shiryu 08-01-2005, 05:01:AM Will Smith - I Robot.(:/)
I don't know , maybe i just don't like him.....also...

Yer he does it well , but the make up and accent seems wrong , I don't think that could be done today without being accused o racism.

The only reason the make-up looks a bit off is because you know that Peter Sellers is white so you always have that playing in the back of your mind.
As for the accent, it's faultless. He does the accent brilliantly!
I agree though. No way would a film like this be released these days without being accused of racism or being politically incorrect. A bit stupid when you consider that most indian people who have seen the movie loved it!
I ordered it today on 2 disc Special Edition DVD. Can't wait to see it again. One of my fav comedies of all time.
Voltaic Borusse 10-01-2005, 12:14:AM - Marlon Waynes in Requiem for a Dream.
- Steve Buscemi in Armageddon.
- Kevin Costner in Robin Hood. Bad English accent, bad acting.
- Leonardo di Caprio in all of his movies.
- George Lazenby as James Bond.
- Richard Gere in The Jackal.

JFG_Lancer 14-01-2005, 01:46:PM Denise Richards ---- 007 The World is not enough
