Hi! The following short article is just one of many that I write for major footballing events.
---------------------------------
We know all about Sol Campbell and just as much about Tony Adoms, synonymous as they are with the Twin Towers of Wembley.

Coutesy of English football's television stranglehold all these years, we all know England simply cannot do without the sol-and-tony brotherhood of protection.

Supreme in the air, uncomprimising in the ground and blessed with the telepathic understanding nursed from the roots of English breeding, together they form the shelter under which any team in Euro 2000 would seek refuge. But the bad news is, once this partnership is broken, we can get a horror movie out there on the pitch.

Suffice it to say, the lesson is about telepathy, where one covers for the other without taking a second look. Now, when posed with a question of picking a partner of Manchester United's golden boy, Japp Stam in a Euro-Dream Team, how does the lights of Campbell or Adams fit in, since they are the best pair around. Adams, quite frankly is getting old(33 years of age) and eventhough his experience is unquestionable, it has been a slow ride for him over at Arsenal.

In my opinion, a defender should read the game like a book and go all out for arial interceptions, dangerous slides and hard-hitting headers. This is what makes the footballing world and interesting one and not a huge comedian act like Massimo Taibi's cool let-the-ball-roll-through-the-legs scene at Southampton earlier this season. Does England have the most strongest defence in Europe with the lethal combination of Campbell and Adams? You decide...:-)

I'd have to give the "best" defensive pairing to Nesta and Cannavaro or Desailly and Blanc before Campbell-Adams.
