I'm a FIFA fan... no longer!!!

I have bought the last 8 FIFA games; but FIFA 2005 was the straw that broke this camel’s (idiot’s) back. It wasn’t until I started reading forums like this that I discovered that FIFA wasn’t the only option. After FIFA WC 2002, FIFA has been going downhill fast. EA ignores everything gamers want and continues to make a profit on those less educated gamers (or the casual gamer).

My favorite thing to play is international cups; I haven’t been able to do so since FIFA 2003. And I have not played with my country Peru since FIFA 2002. I noticed that W11 has Peru (and S. Korea, another favorite of mine not available in FIFA 2005).

I am still a bit hesitant, due to the fact that I have not played
W11 for myself. FIFA 2005 graphics are good and so is the game-play (at least for me).

But what is really pushing me towards W11 is EA’s “we don’t give a crap” attitude. Despite fans that beg for real editing features, better animations that show passion, an international cup mode, S. American squads (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador etc), classic squads (Maradona, Pele etc), EA has continued to ignore all of our pleas and has not included any of these features since 2002.

So that is it!!! Come Feb 2 I am leaving the EA realm and joining the Konami community.

DO I HEAR A “WELCOME FRIEND”... I thought so...

P.S.: I've always been a critic of EA, but now I am acting on it. Oh yeah and how about EA buying the exclusive rights to the NFL. Now Sega can't make an NFL game. It figures because that is the only way EA was going to beat the ESPN 2k5 series, through a monopoly...

I too, like you was once a big fifa fan. That is until WE6I came out here in America. Since than I cannot stop playing WE8 that I imported from Japan. And Im waiting for WE8LE.

If you have a modified PS2 I suggest you buy WE8LE because those damn Japos always save the best for themselves :(

Just crossed over myself a couple months ago and never going to look back. I guarantee you'll be hooked with in the first 1/2 hr my friend. No more EA footie for me after almost a decade.

Good to hear from a fellow Peruvian brother (and from Miami too). Maybe we even play in the same park (Coral Gables Youth Center sounds familiar maybe?). In any case it is going to be awesome playing with Peru.

MIGUEL you quoted me back on the 21st and then asked about who's playing WE8I. I'm still playing WE7I but most these katz are playing WE8I. I've just got to wait a week and a 1/2 till I get that call from EB Games saying my first official copy of a KONAMI footie game has finally arrived. I can't wait #7 has just blown me right out of the water and #8 sounds even deeper and better. I wish I found KONAMI at least 8yrs ago but by the sounds of it I've converted at a good time. Like I told you before, coming from a former recent EA footie fan to another possible cross-over, don't think twice just jump in. If your a real footie fan you'll do it.

I started playing as it was known then ISS PRO 98. My friends were all big FIFA fans, it was FIFA 99 i think. and anyway we gathered down our mate andys house 1 day a week to thrash it on on his playstation. One day after about a month of playing ISS i took it down there, they were reluctent to play it at all, i had to argue, beg, pleed "just one game of it then we go back to FIFA i promise". Well needless to say FIFA was never loaded again. RIP

I played FIFA for PC from the very first version. Remember? It didn't even have a year after the game's name :) Those were the days when FIFA was fun, and it was the only game in town. After a few years of not offering much innovation or improvement in gameplay I gave up on them back in 2000 or so. Then in 2003 I discovered WE6i for the PS2 and I was in heaven. THIS is how footie games are supposed to work. Since then I've played WE7 and eagerly await Feb. 1st when WE8 will make it's US invasion.

Until FIFA offers gameplay realism similar to WE, I will never touch it again. Licenses can be modded, but crappy gameplay cannot.

I too have changed over. Have only played fifa since iss on snes and was getting dam annoyed esp when i started playing multiplayer of it. All my mates always want to play fifa 2005, even though i beat them i do it nearly the same way every game exploiting the games very static ai. E.g. ( throughballs in a 3-3-4 setup - easy goals, crossing the ball is nearly a goal everytime) Also the defenders have a severe advantage over the attacking players, can outrun them, also incompetant goal keepers..

Anyway i believe pes has a better feel in gameplay cept the dpad movement and fifa has a better feel due to having the rights to all the clubs and the premier league. Join pes 4s gameplay and fifas rights and full 360 movement with players (no 9 way dpad) and you would have a fantastic game.

but for now its pes on xbox, btw is pes 3 better then pes 4?

I can’t talk about W11 gameplay because I haven’t really played it (I will soon though, Feb2). Now, as for leaving due to the wrong reasons... who cares, as long as I’m leaving the MONOPOLY Giant known as EA (bastards took away the NFL 2k series from all of us, in case you haven’t heard yet).
So your right, I might be leaving for reasons other than gameplay, but just from reading your e-mails I can tell that you guys love W11. Have you seen the FIFA forum? Everyone just complaints (including me) all the time, there’s no love there man. And look, playing with Peru is huge for me, no doubt it is...
I’m just excited right now, especially since W11 is coming to the XBOX. I had no choice in the matter before since my computer sucks and I don’t have a PS2.

please remember , that , there is a lots of "false" teams on PES.

also , FIFA has alot more teams , more animations , very cool stadium graphics.

is just that , if you are just coming for the graphics and real teams ( although to me , the player graphics and net and etc are way much better than fifa's ) , you might be dissapointed.

i think that even fifa 2005 has all the portuguese superliga teams ... PES has only 3. ( just an example )

OK, I understand and agree to a great extent.
Perhaps I am placing my hopes too high in hoping that W11 will restore the fun I once had with older FIFA titles. But I am prepared to accept graphic downgrades in exchange for a truly fun experience made up of other elements aside from graphics and licensing superiority issues.
I am hoping that W11 will do that for me. :sun:

Bah! I could care less about real kits. It's all about the gameplay to me. Besides Real Madrid have real kits. Plus it has the Roteiro ball which is my fav.

I sit in a computer chair all day at work. When I go home, I'd much rather sit/lie in bed then on a computer chair.

You can get that on the PS2 also. Not sure about x-box though. I assume you would need a modded one.

Yeah I already pre-ordered WE8LE and even though we most likely will not be able to play online the offline game should be great. Looking forward to it.

no one is like me, my friend and i played WE2, 3 on PS1( A PS1 was really expensive in my country at that time, so we pay some money to its owner and he lets us play for a specific a mount of time depend on the money we paid him) when I was in my home country in south east Asia. When I came to the US, i couldn't afford to buy a PS2 at once, but my parent bought me a PC to study, you know, I am a huge fan of soccer game so I bought FIFA and play, it was a hell of frustrating time untill last year I got a PS2 and spotted WE7I at bestbuy, I was like "here we go my old friend, I'm gonna getcha if it takes all...of my money..I'll getcha good"..hehe..Now, only three more day untill WE8I comes out, and you can bet you bottom dollar in time it's gonna be mine...Yahoooooooooo
