OK, heres whats been going down in the POTD saga this morning. POTD has been uploaded succesfully and I am testing the files. We'd love to give out the URL, but there is a small problem.

Xavier Baez from FIFALA is blocking the release. We included his superb facial graphics in the patch on the assumption that he would be all too glad for us to do it. He has told Chris this morning that, unless we move our hosting of the patch to FIFALA, we cannot use the faces. As Chris has just finished upload a patch which includes the faces, we are understandably aggrieved. In the circumstances, we have had to remove Xavier's work from the patch and upload it again (for the sixth time now). If you would like to see the POTD as we intended it, I suggest that, once you have the POTD, get the faces separately and send an email to Xavier saying how disappointed you are with his stance. It is perfectly understandable, but it doesn't prevent the bitter taste that I have in the back of my throat right now.

Baez is an idiot. What we own rights now, this is all under someone else's copyright, go ahead and use whatever you want, he's going to sue you for infringing on a copyright he has already infringed on.

Tell him to complain to EA they might want to have a word.

Hope we see the patch soon.

I remember the great patch Chris did for Fifa 99, so I will wait come hell or high water for this patch.

Someone should ask Mr. Xavier Baez why in the world does he want to host an English Premiership patch on a Latin American football site.

An open fan letter to Xavier Baez:
Although it's understandable that after putting much work into a graphics patch you might be ticked when it's used without your permission, please consider a few things:
1. Chris and Drinky have acknowledged it was your work, so what's the problem? You're not making any money of the patch, so you're not losing any money by having them include it in their package. I was a newspaper reporter for 12 years and was forever finding my articles reposted on people's websites. Those are LEGALLY copyrighted and my paper doesn't freak out -- as long as the person's not making money off of it.
2. You're getting a free plug by way of a credit, so if anything this is likely to give your Latin Leagues patch some profile and free publicity.
3. Anytime you put out a patch for an EA product, you're breaking international copyright treaties because you're changing the original game. So far, EA has been extremely good about this, pretty much ignoring revisions posted on the net. But if creators such as yourself start whining about how their "copyright" has been breached, EA's legal team is going to start getting nervous because they'll recognize the next step in the slippery slope: patch creators trying to make money off of their product. And I don't think any of us want that.
While your indignance is understandable, it's also extremely counterproductive. There are likely hundreds of people who don't post of this forum who have, nonetheless, been getting very little sleep waiting for POTD. I'd like to think it's a testament to their love of good football and their appreciation for the POTD team's work in the past.
So all you're doing is alienating the same people you want accessing your site. Think about it.

and I don't like to have any troubles with matt, chris or anyone here.
I did let Chris use the faces, but then SG posted the Sky graphic patch when I clearly told them to wait for my patch release first.
I told Chirs that if he moved his entire patch to my site he can use the faces and all the stuff in my patch.
He perfectly new about it before.
Now, I don't want to talk about this anymore.
Matt offered Chris to pay money but he never did. Chris told me that he wanted to go to another site and that he wasn't going to release the patch in SG.
This has happend to me again.
I get insulted because my patch stuff is showed in some other site.
Firsst it was Fox sports. Rich insulted me because I wouldn't let him use it. He never mentioned my name when he posted his screenshots or anything.
NOw when all the screenshots faces appeared, they didn't sayed anything about the FIFA LA patch or anything

But the people here at SG will know what are the consequences of starting to talk bad about someone for no reason.
I was Matt "friend" before, when my site was profitable for him. Now people start to insult me and when he feels like it he closed the forum.
Ok, anyone here nows that all the stuff in my patch was made for it or has the right of its author. So Chris didn't mentioned me this, and he didn't showed the credits for it. Besides, he can contact the people who made the faces and use them easily
He can use this faces, either by using the entire face patch and crediting it correctly or by asking to the people who made them. I collected many faces from many players and fit them according to the old faces (black person, chineese..)
If Chris already made the patch with those type of faces he can post it.
But I don't accept this type of excuses.
When a patch isn't out I don't blame other people for doing that.
Chris new perfectly my feeling about him using stuff from my patch (that has been so copied). Copied not because I own them but because my patch doesn't gets mentioned and I get insulted when I don't want my stuff posted here.
Now, the other graphic patch also was unclear.
I was going to let Rich use the graphic patch. Then matt (the day after my site wasn't in his server) removed ALL my sites links. NOw I have problems with people from SG trying to hack my computer with a trojan virus. I also have people from SG starting this forums that I don't like. Rich asked me about using the graphic patch AFTER he made it, and he insulted me when I told him what happend.
Ok, everyone asked it, everyone has the answer now. If anyone of you wants something with me you can send me an email. Chris can use it because he sais that the patch is with the faces now. However, I will not allow a patch that makes people talk bad about me use any stuff that I've gathered for my patch.

And why the f**k should we listen to your comments about TV patches? We can do what the hell we like - there's nothing gonna stop us. Also, why the hell you're mad about other people making Sky Sports patches is just a joke. Listen, you have no right whatsoever to tell people what they can and cannot do - you have no authority.

Let's all relax lads. The guy gave his explanation and we ought to respect it. Frankly our moderators have had their credibility sheared on a couple of occasions so I would not use any side's position as the gospel. The fact remains that these are freeware and we all ought and should be grateful to them all. Their dispute is not our concern. Our investment is to make comments on the freeware to improve upon it and offer thanks do the developers. So let's all shut our mouths and allow the gentlemen to resolve their dispute. I think it's tactless for the original post to air this matter.

Drinky, I once read an email send to the fifala sub-sections webmasters that ALL files, regardless of who the author is, that are on the FIFALA server, can and will be use for the 8-month (and still in the development (by the way, still no beta yet)) FIFALA patch, without the authors permission, but instead with accreditation on the patch.
So Drink, by no means upload that patch there, because all the jerseys, stadiums, menus, etc.. that you or your crew has done, will be used without prior authorization, but will a merely accreditation on that patch.
Anyways, can you all imagine having to wait +8 months for a patch to be released? I'd have to say that you're all very lucky to have POTD released with a few push backs.
Oh yeah, and one more thing, JABJ, please don't mention any people's country, that person BY NO MEANS!!! represents a whole country's population. I for instance, am an example of it.
