Did you guys get your WE8I yet? I came to gamestop today and asked for WE8I, and do you know what the guy said? He said WE8I for Ps2 won't come out untill next month, but the PC version is available NOW, what a idiot. Anyway, I came to EBgames and they said they'll have it tomorrow, but I will also check out bestbuy this afternoon to see if they have it.

I work in a Gamestop shop in the north east and, granted that guy was a clueless idiot. As of yesterday night our POS stated the release date as FEBRUARY. Now from past experience this usually means the date given to us by the developers/publishers is NOT 100% official. This is also true when the date given is the 1st of the month, which usually means a game will come out any day of that given month and our POS will be updated accordingly when the official date is known. Another hint about accurate release dates which applies 90% of the time is if the shipping date does not fall on a tuesday it may not be the real date. This is true pretty much all year round except for the weeks preceding Chrismast in which we have new titles being released almost every day.
Now I would like to clear this confusion about SHIPPING DATES and RELEASE DATES (yes, they are NOT the same). Shipping dates are the ones you usually find in the store and videogame websites. The release date is ALWAYS the NEXT day unless the game is a C title which would take 3 to 5 days to get to the stores. So pls dont drive your local Gamestop staff crazy calling today asking if the game is in yet :read: Just kidding;)
Ever since the very 1st time we had WE8I in our system the date has always been just FEBRUARY so I have always been expecting the release date to be pushed back. It hasnt!
I read 2 days ago in IGN it will be shipping on the 1st so I went to check the Gamestop website and it also shows the 1st. So I will cross my fingers, but wont be surprised to see it is not in the store on wednesday.

I already reserved my copy today at EB games.....thanks EB games for giving mke a concise date that's only decent after not one BUT two Gamestop stores couldnt give me a release date.......it was a rough day at work and all i could think of was coming home to a nice dossage of WE8 but I could wait till tomorrow I guess

same here, reserved my copy at EB last week. They were very clear, ships on Feb 1st, they'll have it in the store on Feb 2ns after approx 11:00am, the time for them to open the boxes and putting it on the shelves...(if there are any left after all reservations have been honored) :crazyboy:

Stupid Gamestop is accurate enough for this thread...

I wake up around 8 am thinking that I'm getting the game today. I go to my Bio class, then to my Spanish class...and I arrive at Gamestop. I wait in line for 5 eternal minutes just for them to tell me they don't have a date for this game...but they do for the PC version. I'm pissed as hell, **** Game Stop, I'm calling the closest EB gamestore to pick up my copy tomorrow.

i went in to gamestop today and the guy said February 19th so i asked him if he knew when it's shipping in the other stores, he said that it's 19th or later. hey once you reserve your copy with $5 downpayment, can you get your money back (the $5) if it comes out earlier in another store??

I had the same problem with gamestop....i skipped the trip and called and the guy was like....it says feb..then changed it to the 17th....so I call EB and the guy says tomorrow....hmm....wonder where im going to start buyin games.....gamestop is stupid...the website says the 1st...which is a tuesday.....and the store has no clue.....also every website I have checked has a release this week....(the big stores always seem to get it a couple days later)....so I dont know what gamestops deal is....I'm kinda tired of going there anyway cause they have no clue what they are talking about something like 90% of the time.

Maybe two years ago, maybe one I dont remember.....I went there happy as hell, Simcity 4 finally came out and I was there the release date that all major websites and even the Gamestop website had scheduled......so I went, and first the dumb guy tells me, that maybe i read the wrong thing, then he says...oh no you're right it comes out tomorrow........so I patiently waited till the next day...I went and the game was there, then as I drove home I remember to not open the package and spoil the fun until I came home and sat in front of my PC......so there I was.....Excited; I went in my study, shut the door and turned on the fan, closed the windows set my volume and prepared to install Sim City 4.........as I opened the package and later the CD case I realized the unthinkable............the installations CD's were NOT there..........yeah you heard it NOT there....

jeez! all I was trying to do was being nice and explain to everyone the way things REALLY work in video game stores, especially the deal with shipping dates as opposed to release dates because I see it in my store every day. Remember the dates posted in websites is the shipping date and release date should be the day after.
As for getting your $$ back for a reservation you did not pick up you CAN get always get your money back as long as you show a picture ID. And as for your horror stories , well, not all Gamestop are bad. And we certainly are better than EB ;).
I also checked the distros that are supposed to arrive tomorrow at our store and we are getting the game.

I just found out from the IGN review the NA version will not be online. Was there ever an official reason by Konami as to why this happened?
I am kinda pissed off as I already have PES4 but with a modded Xbox and obviously I cant play it online. Unless the NA version has all the updated transfers (which I really doubt as they did not put them in last year version) I will probably wont buy it. A shame really as I was literally ecstatic with emotion about being able to play against my friends in Xbox live. I really dont understand why the **** they decided not to go online with the NA edition. My guess is that they think not enough ppl will be playing it. And if that is the reason that will certainly not change from this year to the next if the game is not online.
To put things in perspective...
when 6 first came out no1 knew (and therefore there were no reservations for it) about the game in my store. Every time some1 asked for Fifa I told them about WE and told them to give it a chance. Because there were not a lot of games made we were not getting lots of copies in our store and I remember calling other stores to transfer copies of the game to us. Still we never got lots of copies to begin with so not that many were sold. Not a single customer complained to me about the game and some actually came backand said how much better than Fifa this game is.
when 7 came out we actually got like 7 or 8 reservations (some from customers who had bought it the yr before) and there was buzz in the street about it. People were asking for "that other soccer game that is supposed to be better than Fifa" Our store had requested more copies of the game for this year and so we probably sold like 50% more than the yr before.
For this yr we had 25(!) reservations. 18 which were XBOX reservations and ppl said it was because it was online.
so I think it is pretty obvious....

you should go EB games there much better there:) and i feel your pain. its hard for people living in the USofA(like me) to wait so long for this. but im a patient man plus i got plenty of PES 4 to keep me busy:p

i called Gamestop and explained that I was lied to there and told that all stores are gonna have it on the 19th or later and they said i can have my money back and then he asked what store is gonna have it tomorrow and i told him EB because i had called them and asked and they confirmed. then he told me that they can get a huge fine for selling me the game. i was like WTF you smokin'?? they hire all kinds of crackheads these days.:kader: first some guy tries to hussle me by lying to me then this crackhead goes on about some fine that EB could get for selling me the game.

I'm totally jealous. I can't get my copy until tomorrow. I can't decide between the Xbox or PS2 version. Maybe it's a no-brainer.
