I think somebody is being paid to propagandise for the MLS (H)

Mind you, if it weren't for the MLS, Ryan Nelson wouldn't be playing for Blackburn right now (Y) and he has been their most solid player in the games he has played, which is great.

We may forget Poland, but Poland does not forget us!

Nelsen kicks ass. He's my favorite Kiwi.

And it's 'MLS', not 'the MLS'. Why does everyone say it wrong? 'The Major League Soccer' - that just sounds dumb.

What's Nowak's first name?

Is it Piotr? I'm sure he used to play for our national team and retired not that long ago.

yes it is, it says in the article:

Nowak received Poland's highest civilian honor for his work in promoting Poland in the United States. For several years, Nowak was a part of Poland's national team, serving as captain for three years. In 1996, he was named Poland's player of the year.

And you are from Poland?

VfL Wolfsburg had a tribute match for Krzysztof Nowak. Nowak was one of the best prospects in Polish football, ever since the U16, he was fallowed by press and breaking records in midfield and scoring like no other in european competitions. He was wanted by many clubs. He was a captain for the polish national team in the biggest game in a while, in 1999, at age 23, against England. He was so sound, such a complete player, he carried us on his shoulders when we needed help. He helped us beat battles that we never though could have been won.

He was wanted by clubs in Italy and Spain. But from VfL he was on the verge of signing with FC Barcelona. Then, before the move was made official, Nowak got really sick. And since, he has been fighting his disease, and couldn't even walk anymore. VfL had a tribute match to him last year.

He made his debut for Poland in 1997, in a 4-1 win over Greece, in which he scored a goal. His last game was in 1999, in Stockholm in which Poland lost 0-2 and got eliminated from advancing to the European Championships. He played 83 matches for Wolfsburg, his last in 2001, and scored 10 goals. He was VfL's captain.

Krzysztof died over night, last night, at age 29. He leaves behind him, his wife Beata, and 2 kids, 9 year old son and 4 year old doughter.

RIP Krzysztof. We will always love you and thanks for everything. You will be missed.
