View Full Version : Patch Of The Day - What Next?
Drinky UKSN 28-12-1999, 08:36:PM As Chris said in his readme file, we're releasing an update patch in January for POTD. Apart from updating the rosters, and everything else that Chris said we'd add, what else would you like us to add? Even if they're not possible, we'd like to know what you think would make the patch even better, and we'll try to include as many as we can in the update if we agree.
Prashanth 29-12-1999, 03:52:PM Hi Drinky UKSN. The Patch Of The Day was superb. However, I would like to pose a question. Why is Portsmouth and other lower division teams in the Champions League. Is my installation wrong or is it meant to be that way.
Thanks once again for the patch. Great job!
Regards: Prashanth Pillay

Manchester United Online
Yeah, I want all the Nationwide teams in it.
Not some but all.
sglean 30-12-1999, 09:16:PM You maybe tierd of hearing this but Les Ferdinand West Ham..Quentin Fortune Man U and Katsbia Newcastle are missing. I think I found Katsbia in the Italian league but Fortune and Ferdinand I have no clue.
Patch was great.
How about the England league being renamed the Premier League(a flag maybe).
how about the match of the day theme in the music during half time etc.
Did you put in the "your not singing anymore" chant. I swear I heard it
How about doing the England squad giving it 25 players and including Ince, Phillips, Heskey, Lampard,Sinclair, Lee and Cole. The proper kit nad maybe wembley stadium. They are playing at Everton at the moment.
ManUDevil 30-12-1999, 09:40:PM I have a few problems:
1.) The banners up on the stadiums are all pixelated and the lower banners are backwards.
2.) Try to fix up the rosters like adding players and which teams are where like mistakes with the Champions League.
3.) Make the game playable on higher resolutions that 800x600, the jerseys are all out of focus.
4.) Better front menus....it isn't attractive.
5.) Maybe touch up the 64 color kits a bit, Manchester United crest on the jersey is all messed up. (Maybe ask Nick the master of 64 color kits for help.)
6.) Also on Manchester United there is a guy I never heard of by the name of Alexanderson (I think that is his name)...why is this?
7.) White Mitre Ball instead of yellow one.
8.) Also on your new PotD website can you make a text file that tells everybody what exactly the PotD does...I'd like to know what I've added to my game.
Other than that the patch is unbelievable...mostly just minor problems here and there. Also I don't think my graphic card is the reason for the pixelated banners and backward banners cause I have a Voodoo3 3000 on a PIII/128 MB RAM.
P.S> I'm not saying the PotD is bad I just want it to become a better patch, it is already unbelievable.

Drinky UKSN 31-12-1999, 06:49:AM Any more? If you have any problems, or want us to add to it, please reply - we need your help!
Chris Davies (E.S.P. Man) 01-01-2000, 03:41:PM OK, let's review what we have seen on this topic so far - From Prasanth, you don't want to see Division One\Two\Three teams in European cups - Well, unfortnately, that is what happens whenever you overwrite teams in those cups with other ones - But, thanks to Chau Le and his FEd2000 (when released), I have just learned we can replace any 3 (possibly 4 if you want the conference - Well, do you? ANSWER ME! If you want this Millennium PotD Update to be out sooner, please reply to this message stating that you only want the 3 Nationwide Leagues, but if you want it later and containing Conference sides, please state that in a reply) leagues with leagues containing 24 teams, English league rules and English cups, so you will even be able to do a proper season with these leagues without having to go through the ordeal of "Custom League" setups and "Custom Cup" setups (although a few teams in the European Cups might still be there, sorry I can not do anything about that)! OK, next - jogk, what I have just said should answer your reply - sglean, OK...
sglean, we are not tired of hearing critisicm, it is the one thing that can make this good patch a great patch (along with a lot of work http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/redface.gif). Missing players are unfortunately frequent in some Premier teams, and we do work hard trying to fix that, but at the minute the only players in some teams that can be replaced are ones that are used on a regular basis for the particular club - Still, we see your point (it has been pointed out a few times) and we will work to fix it. If FEd2000 lets us rename league names longer, then yes, the England league will without doubt be renamed to The F.A. Premier League (along with the Nationwide L. league being renamed to the Nationwide League Division One\Two\Three league), if we can figure out how to edit the flags without the colours going horribly, horribly wrong that will also be done for all leagues, Match of the Day theme tune music for your copy of FIFA 2000 will be downloadable from http://www.fifa2000.net/potd/potd.htm soon, the chants are being done as we speak by Drinky, it may be impossible (we will have to hope that FEd2000 will) to add players to teams without overwriting players, the proper kit for England will be used if LïL Þ®ö K@Ñê¥ completes his 999 jersey utility and as for Wembley stadium, it should already be there for England (here's a tip - if you want to play at Wembley stadium WHENEVER YOU WANT, go into the options menu, go to the cheats menu and if you know the cheat code to get the cheated stadium, type it in and switch it on - Until you switch it off again, you will now play at Wembley all the time!)! OK, moving swiftly on (finally) to the ManU Devil :-
1) stadiums are being completely re-done and added (64 stadiums will be done when FEd2000 comes out - That's ALL 20 Premiership stadiums, ALL 24 Division One stadiums, 17 Division Two stadiums, Wembley and a new realistic for English clubs practice ground, unless LïL Þ®ö K@Ñê¥ somehow manages to do a 999 stadium utility as well, in which case every English stadium and more will be in there), although some banners cannot be any way except backwards, that's the way FIFA 2000 has been programmed...
2) We are trying to fix the rosters, but as already explained, it may not be possible in some places...
3) All of the jerseys are being re-done because of the complaints about them - If LïL Þ®ö K@Ñê¥ completes his 999 jersey program there will be a fantastically recreated jersey for every English team in there and more!
4) All new menus are being done because of the complaints about them, too...
5) As I said in 3), the kits are all going to be re-done - We do not need Nick, though, because we have the technique and we have the power - The reason the current ones aren't too hot is because, in order to get PotD out by Christmas, we VERY quickly converted them from FIFA 99 to FIFA 2000 format, but now we are going to take our time and do this properly!
6) Once again, this is a roster problem and will be fixed.
7) In the Millennium PotD Update, you will have the choice of the Premiership Mitre ball (white) or the Nationwide League ball (yellow), as well as a choice of turfs!
8) The PotD web-site is still under construction, a lot more stuff is to come, including what you mentioned here - If you want to know what the PotD does for now though (THIS GOES TO EVERYBODY) and also what is to come (unbelievable but true stuff!), please visit http://www.fifa2000.net/potd/potd.htm and head straight for "THE PATCH" section and then for "Patch of the Day Features" - It's all in there!
OK, well, keep your comments, queries and ideas for the millennium PotD update coming in, because with a bit of luck and magic from Chau Le and LïL Þ®ö K@Ñê¥ (and a lot more people, don't get me wrong), it will be out soon. Thanks for replying everything you have replied so far, like I say, keep it coming! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif

[P.S. - The only reason this message has been edited by Chris Davies (E.S.P. Man) (edited 01-01-2000) is because I always forget to put paragraphs in my posts - I tried to read what I had written and there was so much text in one big clump I couldn't... Ah well, it's fixed now!]

Prashanth 01-01-2000, 04:58:PM Hi Chris Davis! I would like the POTD MILLENNIUM UPDATE with THREE DIVISIONS.

sglean 01-01-2000, 05:38:PM Yeah chris thanks for answering
POTD is set to rock.
Yeah, thanks for the answer, Rick. I will
be very anxious waiting for the next patch
with all the English Teams in it. Thanks
again. Keep up the good work. Fifa2000 will
never live longer without you people.
ManUDevil 02-01-2000, 01:37:AM Chris Davies,
Thank-you you are the man, you've answered all of my questions. PotD Millennium edition will kick royal @$$!!!
Blueboy Slim 02-01-2000, 03:55:PM All this criticism of this great patch atleast the game is worth playing now.
It also provides a platform for you to add to yourself instead, of moaning use the various editors & alter the game to your own needs.
I for one am very pleased with this patch keep up the good work.
sglean 02-01-2000, 05:09:PM Thanks a lot Chris played at Wembley
very very cool.
Drinky UKSN 02-01-2000, 08:41:PM Good news! If FEd2000 allows us to assign 64 stadia, then POTD will have 64 stadia. How do I know? I've already started making stadia for all of the Premiership sides, and a few of the Nationwide sides.
Bolso 02-01-2000, 08:49:PM Request for Drinky UKSN.
Could you make a couple of South American stadiums like the Maracana from Brazil & el Centenario from Uruguay?
Chris Davies (E.S.P. Man) 03-01-2000, 07:46:PM Just a note for those who don't know who I am or who "Drinky" (UKSN) is, I (Chris Davies) am Patch of the Day's first main creator, and "Drinky" (of UKSN, the UK Sports Network - http://www.uksn.com), or Andrew Drinkwater as he is known to the rest of the world who don't know his nickname is the second main creator - So I think "Drinky" will be too busy making PotD stadiums along with myself than to make South American stadiums, Bolso... Anyway, just a personal note from me to "Drinky" - You obviously didn't read my reply a few messages behind this one, "Drinky" (the absolutely huge one replying to everyone) - Check out 1), and you will see I already mentioned the 64 stadiums bit - I hope to see you online soon, mate, because we need to discuss who is doing what, because I want to give you a hand with the stadiums as doing 64 is going to be a hell of a lot for one person, but if you feel you can, OK. Anyway, thanks for all of your great critisicm of PotD and encouraging words, we (the PotD team) appreciate both the critisicm (constructive mind you, not "PotD is CRAP"! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif), because this helps us find out what you, the people who we make the patch for, like or dislike about it so we know what to change in future versions, and the encouragement, because it keeps us going when we wonder why we hack around 100's (1000's when looking around the Internet for various sources of information for what we are doing) of files for a football game - The reason we do, of course, is because we are (hopefully, it is our aim) bringing a little bit of joy into your lives when you sit down to your PC and want a bit of fun! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif OK, back to work - Thanks for everything, guys!
