The first two to seven (depending on how many take the challenge)people to get past the qualifiers (screenshot to prove) will compete to who will get the furthest in the knockout league.

Can you win The World Cup, post here for how you are doing, i have taken the challenge up me self and have so far gone this far with Wales..

Azerbaijan 1-3 Wales
Wales 1-2 Northern Ireland

So how are you doin.. :rockman:

I think I'll join this one. Thinking about either Scotland or Ireland...

Ok, I've decided to go for the easiest one: Ireland. Just won my first match against Cyprus with 2-0. Goals from Roy Keane and debut player Jon Macken.

I was able to hold off Poland to a 0-0 draw in Belfast, but I lost David Healy in the match, and Stuart Elliott afterwards in training. I'll have to alter my tactic completely for the away game in Cardiff against Wales. I only have 2 decent strikers left in my selection, so I'll have to change from 4-1-2-1-2 to 4-1-3-1-1 :( I do have decent wingers so it might not be all bad :S

Decided on a 5-1-2-1 instead, as I didn't trust my DMC, Jeff Whitley, to be up to the job of controlling Hartson, and I beat Wales 1-4, after going behind in just 4 mins to an Earnshaw header off a Giggs cross. (H) Ferguson beat Jason Brown with a lob ahortly after, and McVeigh capitalised on a short pass gone foul in the Welsh defense just minutes later. He got his second after 40 minutes with a tap in from close range. Baird scrambled in a fluke from a corner shortly after the break, and Wales never even tried after that. The game was pretty even in the first half, the score really doesn't reflect the game. In fact, Wales got 11 shots and we got 5 (1 on target for them, 4 for us :p), they got 6 corners and we got 3.

Scoring line:
04: Robbie Earnshaw 1-0
13: Glenn Ferguson 1-1
15: Paul McVeigh 1-2
40: Paul McVeigh 1-3
47: Chris Baird 1-4

Just take any team of those four, doesn't matter.

I only have detailed all 3 N.Irish leagues. Works just fine.

Zlatan
29-03-2005, 03:19:PM
I have England(Premiership only) and Ireland and Scotland as additional nations. Works fine and I have a quite crappy PC.

Anyway just came back from a 2-0 victory in and over Switzerland. Quite happy as Switzerland didn't get much open chances. We didn't get much chances aswell, but we made the ones that we got.
Goals from again Jon Macken and substitute Steven Reid.

Just played my third game, away @ Azerbaijan. I had my full squad available again, and played my 4-1-2-1-2. The odds were in my favour, so I chose to go a bit more attacking than I did at home vs Poland.

That paid off immediately, with a good chance after 5 minutes. The goalie's kick that followed that chance was intercepted by Mark Williams at the midfield line, and quick passes through David Healy and Steven Elliott left Paul McVeigh shooting in the 0-1 from the edge of the 16 yard area. Halfway through the 1st half Healy got free from his marker, and had a one-on-one with their keeper to make it 0-2. 15 minutes into the 2nd half Healy made it 0-3 from in between two defenders, and a very long goalkick from Roy Carroll gave him his hattrick 8 minutes later.
After 3 games we're now in second place, 2 points behind England, who are still to lose a point, and 3 points ahead of Poland.

Scoring line:
06: 0-1 Paul McVeigh
26: 0-2 David Healy
62: 0-3 David Healy
70: 0-4 David Healy

This is going way above my expectations :D

:(
Lost my first match. N.Ireland - Austria 0-1
It was quite an even matchup, but a Roy Carroll foul after a corner for Austria gave Vastic the goal from the spot. Going all-out in the last 10 minutes did give me 3 small chances, but no goals.
Still second. Poland now also have 7 points from 4 games, but I'm 8 goals ahead. England are on 12 points, and already unlikely to be caught.

Scoring line:
34: 0-1 Ivica Vastic (PK)

just got a quick question here mainly for Ruud. I selected all of the 4 leagues of the Scotland league. Anyways i noticed that a lot of players that are Scottish are going to big teams for instance Liverpool have signed like 2 of them so far and they arnt even good :kader:

Is this happing in anyone elses game that has selected their own leagues like Ruud and I did?

Just had 2 good matches.

Qualifier against Faroe Islands which ended up in 4-0(Macken on fire: 3 goals, Connoly to make the last one)
The other one was a friendly against Slovenia which ended also 4-0, goals from again(!) Macken, Duff, Robbie Keane and debut player Noel Hunt.

Espacially proud of the last match against Slovenia since I though we would have a hard time beating them but in the end it was an easy victory.

How many time we have to complete the task?

I mean, we have to finish it before a specific date or we must finish before others?

BTW, I'll be Wales

gamerharkin
02-04-2005, 09:37:PM
you have to finish before others, if yu want to win you have to get to the quarter finals first, which socrates is looking like doing, but Zlatan, Ruud and you if ya hurry up can finish it before him, he might not even go through the group stage

Zlatan
02-04-2005, 09:44:PM
Won a very important match against number 3 Israel. In the 2nd minute Israel scored and I was like shiitte this is going totally wrong(I missed Roy Keane because of an injury) but after some subs that turned outwell(Partridge and Connoly) Duff had a fantastic dribble and made 1-1. Then the keeper of Israel made a complete mistake he went out outside his area mistouched Connoly only had to tap it in: 1-2. In the 81th minute the match was decided with a free kick from about 25 meters: 1-3. To put the ice on the cake Connoly made his second and Ireland's forth: 4-1.
Might be the deciding game for the 2nd place although there are still much matches to play.

I'm very proud of coming back after such a fast backdrop.

So... basically, the people who don't have time to play FM regularly can just stop bothering about your challenges. The time restriction is too much, mate.

I'll keep playing this anyway. I might get second position in the group still :(

Comparing Northern Ireland to Scotland is a bit off anyway. I think reaching the play-offs will easily tie my team's performance to Hassan's Scotland. :shades:

I just shot up from #97 to #77 in the world ranking. :|

How that happened? I BEAT ENGLAND AT SAINT JAMES'S PARK!!! I actually dominated the match, had twice as many shots on goal. Still I only won 0-1, a lob by Glenn Ferguson over David James (H) I must say my team was way more fit then theirs, they only had 2 players over 70 left after the match, James and Rio Ferdinand. My side only had one player under 70, Chris Baird, who got a minor injury in injury time.

Scoreline:
61: 0-1 Glenn Ferguson

I'm only 2 points behind them now, with 5 to play. Tied for 2nd still with Poland.
