ok, when i host a game for PES4..a few seconds after the game begins, i get a message "opponent disconnected." Now when it reverts back the desktop, i can no longer surf the internet but my MSN still works...

Probably your Client has a router or a firewall that blocks connection with you... :

Routers & Firewalls:

Pes4 uses port 5739 UDP to play online. If you are behind a router, you must ensure that you forward port 5739 to your IP address within your LAN. The port forward option for your router may be listed as "virtual server" in your router settings.

If you are behind a firewall you also have to ensure that port 5739 is open and not being blocked by your firewall if you want to play Pes4 Online. Make sure that you allow access for Pes4.exe and Pes4Launcher.exe

I can host but not client - how can I fix this?

A possible solution is to enable "DMZ" in your router settings. However, "DMZ" turns off your router firewall and opens all your ports leaving you vulnerable to an attack. If you are using Windows XP, you
should download SP2 and enable the built-in firewall. Configure it to "allow exceptions" for Pes4.exe and Pes4Launcher.exe. You should then be able to client and host online with no problems through your
router using a software firewal

my friend does not have a router or any firewall

since u can't surf after the game dies, i'd say that the problem is not with your client but rather with u somehow (can't see how ur client's settings would be able to affect ur ability to surf, hence something is wrong on ur computer)

make sure u have pes4 allowed as an application in windows firewall and any other firewall/anti-virus and what else in security way u might have runnin. i'd also try re-installing the game...

i dont have a firewall, only a router. I have correctly forwarded the ports for PES4. Every other game i own works perfectly when i host cept PES4.

Another weird thing is that my friend doesnt have a router or a firewall but he can not host a PES4 game. He can host every other game we play online.
