SuRFy 28-05-2005, 12:29:PM We could go after Frey, i hope, but Man U are trying to get his signature also, Niemi is another possibility.

pl. henry don' leave us...cuz only a few months back he said he would play for Arsenal for his whole life
Bummy_JaB 28-05-2005, 05:20:PM We can win without Henry, BUT no Henry is like having no sun rotate around the planets :kader: :kader: :nape:
I think Wenger will be buying a keeper and possibly a good Edu replacement for next season........ I think Owusu should get more first team action... the guy has amazing technique but really just needs to work on his finishing......... and hes only like 19 i think.....
And of course if Reyes leaves in the summer we will have to buy a new forward.....
Dreath 28-05-2005, 05:50:PM Guily Wants Henry:-

Apparently they offered 20 mill for Henry
We'll accept no less thhan 100 mill. That's what was offered by Chelsea and we turned them down.
becksfranksteve 28-05-2005, 07:49:PM henry is the heart of arsenal he should never leave
Simmers 28-05-2005, 08:58:PM Just a sidequestion here, when will Arsenal show the new away kit? It's stated on the official site that they will be changing this summer, so something should be shown soon.
Bummy_JaB 29-05-2005, 01:23:AM http://www.arsenal-mania.com/?page=articles&view=full&article=172139
you can only see the back of it though...... I like it a lot so far..... :rockman: :rockman:
SuRFy 29-05-2005, 01:51:AM Looks pretty good, would you guys rather see Patrick or Thierry leave?
bjmenge 29-05-2005, 05:16:AM Just a sidequestion here, when will Arsenal show the new away kit? It's stated on the official site that they will be changing this summer, so something should be shown soon.
They are generally released sometime in mid-to-late July.
henry#14 29-05-2005, 06:27:AM And about Goalkeepers. Go for Isaksson or Green
Isaksson would be good, but Green can go f*ck himself. I thought he was good but as I review the season he's not what we need. We should go after Kameni or Frey.
proxnet 29-05-2005, 07:28:AM Looks pretty good, would you guys rather see Patrick or Thierry leave?
none :kader:

enigma 30-05-2005, 03:10:AM Yeah the new away kit is probably gonna be yellow. I'm 99% sure it is.
pullstones_jr 30-05-2005, 03:27:AM Is it true that you guys are getting Robinho?
SuRFy 30-05-2005, 06:41:AM Yeah heres something....
Santos ace Robinho reveals Arsenal talks
Santos star Robinho has confirmed Arsenal are keen to sign him.
Robinho told the News of the World: "Arsenal have been in touch with my people in the last few days and they have made me aware of the offer.
"I am very proud that they are looking at me because a club like Arsenal doesn't come in for you every day.
"It would be a dream for me to play alongside Thierry Henry, we will continue to talk."
ladylover 30-05-2005, 08:17:AM There are so many clubs after Robinho. I don't think that he will end up in England. I think Real has the advantage of getting him, Chelsea is trying to get him to, but they will send him to PSV for about 2 years to get some experience before ending up at Chelsea. And I don't think Wenger will splash al of his funds on him, 14 mil. is not enough and with Real and Chelsea having a lot of money they have the best chance of getting him.
PaPaGeorGeo 30-05-2005, 08:40:AM I seriously doubt we will get him

14mill is more than enough for him, you would be stupid too pay more than 15mill for a player that is unproven in Europe
ladylover 30-05-2005, 11:09:AM 14mill is more than enough for him, you would be stupid too pay more than 15mill for a player that is unproven in Europe
He is a HUGE talent you know and young, plus he is one of the starting 11 of the Brazilian NT, I don't think that 14m is enough.
Crusad3r 30-05-2005, 11:23:AM He is a HUGE talent you know and young, plus he is one of the starting 11 of the Brazilian NT, I don't think that 14m is enough.
He is benched, unlike Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo or Adriano.
ogsimon 30-05-2005, 11:41:AM Kaka cost how much- and he was just as big a talent as robinho is now- its true he not proven in europe- no-one wants to risk another Denislon situation
enigma 30-05-2005, 12:37:PM No one will play more than 12 million for Robinho (except Chelsea, but who cares about them).
rsnjg 30-05-2005, 02:55:PM Remember thats 14m Pound's not Euro's or Dollar's.
I wouldn't trust any quotes that come out during the whole Robinho transfer saga, especially when they are to biased newspapers such as Marca or The NoW or The Sun, these guys will manipulate quotes to sell papers. Remember in Jan he was almost certain to go to Madrid.
I say just wait and see, because the game that the Arsenal scouts went to see had 2 teams, and the other was Gilberto's old club so we may have also been looking at some unknown after being tipped of by Gilberto, like Reyes told us who to look out for at Sevilla. Although i would be great to see him in an Arsenal shirt although it seems unlikely to me. I think Torres from At. Madrid is a greater possibility especially after they finished 11th, and he is apparently demanding european football.

Henry and Forlan win Golden Shoe (6)
Villarreal's Diego Forlan and Arsenal's Thierry Henry and will share the Golden Shoe award for being this season's top goalscorers in Europe.
Ex-Manchester United striker Forlan scored twice on Sunday for his Spanish team to join Henry on the 25-goal mark.
Henry becomes the first player to win the award two years in a row.
It is only the second time it has been shared. In 1989/90 Bulgarian Hristo Stoichkov and Mexican Hugo Sanchez were the joint winners.
Henry is the sixth player to win the award twice, joining such legends as Eusebio and Gerd Muller.
Forlan's double came as Villarreal beat Levante 4-1 to clinch a spot in the next season's Champions League.
"It's been an incredible season and we couldn't have finished it in better style," the Uruguayan said.
"I'm very happy to have ended up as top scorer as it is something that doesn't happen every day.
"Qualifying for the Champions League is a prize that we all deserve as we worked hard for it throughout season."
Yes amazingly this is the very same Forlan, who could was once commented on (By a BBC commentator) that "you know your defence has problems when Forlan starts scoring against you".
Bobby 30-05-2005, 07:53:PM There was very little chance of us getting Robinho, now that it's out there it's impossible.
Bummy_JaB 30-05-2005, 09:07:PM LOL the only reason Forlan even gets to share the boot with Henry is cause Henry didnt play like the last 7 games for us...... to be fair Forlan did work his ass off in the season and truely deserves sumthin for proving all his critics dead wrong......
Paulo Da Silva 30-05-2005, 09:28:PM Porto payed 7 million for Diego and Robinho should cost roughly around the same
Drvar 30-05-2005, 09:32:PM yeah, but didnt Forlan miss games at the start of the season? dont know how many though.
Adriano7 30-05-2005, 09:43:PM Robinho is on his way 2 madrid aint he?. i dnt think arsenal need another forward. They need Shaun Wright-Phillips !! :rockman:
SB9Dragon 30-05-2005, 09:46:PM Why would Arsenal even need to dish out huge sums of money on Robinho? Is the attack really a problem for you guys?
henry#14 31-05-2005, 01:12:AM No it's not. we need someone at the back and in goal.
Crusad3r 31-05-2005, 01:30:AM LOL the only reason Forlan even gets to share the boot with Henry is cause Henry didnt play like the last 7 games for us...... to be fair Forlan did work his ass off in the season and truely deserves sumthin for proving all his critics dead wrong......
But tbh Henry scored many penalties, Forlan only 1, meanwhile the teammate of Forlan, Riquelme, scored 8 penalties :-)
Bummy_JaB 31-05-2005, 01:46:AM I dont know what season you were watching but Henry scored more penalties last season when we won the title...... This year he didnt have many pks.....
Bobby 31-05-2005, 02:10:AM But tbh Henry scored many penalties, Forlan only 1, meanwhile the teammate of Forlan, Riquelme, scored 8 penalties :-)
Lauren takes our penalties
henry#14 31-05-2005, 02:49:AM But tbh Henry scored many penalties, Forlan only 1, meanwhile the teammate of Forlan, Riquelme, scored 8 penalties :-)
The real reason behind Forland winning the pichichi is simple: Juan Roman Riquelme
enigma 31-05-2005, 03:12:AM If we get Robinho we're going to have problems deciding who plays upfront. With the likes of Quincy already knocking on the door..
TheBlueBalla 31-05-2005, 04:23:AM We could go after Frey, i hope, but Man U are trying to get his signature also, Niemi is another possibility.
I thought you said you didnt like the Arse...unless of course you mean 'we' as in Barca going after Frey, in which case thats the first ive heard of that
So what is the deal with that little race for Ramos' signature you all were involved in? I remember it looked as if you or ManU were gonna get the lad from Seville, but since then ive heard nothing
huesoromero 31-05-2005, 04:36:AM The real reason behind Forland winning the pichichi is simple: Juan Roman Riquelme
the most stupid thing that i read in this forum!!! you dont know anything about football man
and its Forlan not Forland
PaPaGeorGeo 31-05-2005, 08:05:AM Robinho can also play out on the left or upfront so he could be Pires Replacement with Reyes up front anyway he aint here and probably wont be so lets not worry about the situation
proxnet 31-05-2005, 11:12:AM Bad news?? (N) :-
http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=281633&CPID=23&CLID=3&lid=&title=Barca+have+Henry+dream&channel=Premiership
SuRFy 31-05-2005, 11:18:AM Not that bad, If he does come to us, he'll will still be playing beautiful, flarey football, both Arsenal and Barcelona win in style, i'd love to see one day Dinho play for the Gunners. :)
enigma 31-05-2005, 12:04:PM i'd love to see one day Dinho play for the Gunners. :)
Have you gone insane? I'd never ever say that about my club's best player. That's wishing him away!
And no, Titi won't go.. Come on, he loves Arsenal. Truly. Madly. Deeply. :fool:
rsnjg 31-05-2005, 01:32:PM So what is the deal with that little race for Ramos' signature you all were involved in? I remember it looked as if you or ManU were gonna get the lad from Seville, but since then ive heard nothing
He signed a new Sevilla contract which raised his get out clause to something stupid like 27m Euro's, and the chairman said that they will accept nothing less than that. So basically its only you lot and R.Madrid who can get him now. :nape:
As for Henry, i would say he is least likely Arsenal player to move, i think he said once that he owes his career to AW, mainly because 1) for starting it at Monaco 2) for rescuing it after Juve, so aslong Wenger is around then i think Henry will as well. Plus the whole 'Spainish football racism thing', i think would put him off going especially because he has spoken out soo much against some of the things that have happened and gone on in Spain recently. (:/)

Bobby 01-06-2005, 06:10:AM Preseason to date:
July 29
Ajax Amsterdam
Amsterdam Tournament
July 31
FC Porto
Amsterdam Tournament
I'm sure we have a date against Barnet at Underhill aswell.
We'll also be in Austria once again, and will NOT be playing any of the other big names touring there, as Wenger likes low key preperation and not pissing contests.
proxnet 01-06-2005, 10:51:AM (Y) wonder whether wenger will go siteseeing there also(scouting)....
datboy 01-06-2005, 10:54:PM Robinho targets Spain switch
Robinho would prefer to move to Spain rather than England the player's agent has revealed after it was announced that both Arsenal and Juventus have shown an interest in the Santos youngster.
Wagner Ribeiro revealed that the two clubs had added their names to the list of prospective clubs showing an interest in the outstanding forward.
Both Juve and the Gunners had scouts watching Robinho in Santos' recent Copa Libertadores encounter with Universidad de Chile.
"Robinho has attracted the interest of the best clubs in the world," Ribeiro said.
"Not only does Real Madrid want him, but also Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus have all made enquiries, although he would prefer to move to Spain rather than England."
But Robinho's first choice would be to move to Real Madrid as there is already a large Brazilian contingent at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Things would be a lot easier at Madrid," Riberio continued. "Especially as there are so many Brazilians there already."
Coach Wanderley Luxemburgo is a big fan of the highly-rated 21-year-old and he would link up with national team stars such as Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.
Reports in England recently suggested that Arsenal are preparing a bid, but they face an uphill battle to stop Madrid from landing him after the Spanish giants began the process of securing his services many months ago.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hope you guys didn't get your hopes up :ewan:

Bobby 03-06-2005, 08:58:PM Sol Campbell's Brother Jailed for Attack
Sol Campbell’s brother was jailed for 12 months today for viciously attacking a university classmate after a gay slur against the England star.
John Campbell, 34, kicked his victim senseless, shattering his jaw and several teeth during a local football club training session.
His injuries would probably have been much worse if others had not pulled the “extremely aggressive” defendant away.
Mark Goldstein, who was struck so hard that stud marks were imprinted down one side of his head, was taken to hospital with blood pouring from his mouth.
He underwent surgery to have two metal plates inserted in his face to hold his multiply fractured jaw together, London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.
He was then admitted to a ward where he spent several days sipping liquidised food through a straw.
Campbell, of Hathaway Crescent, Manor Park, east London, who claimed self-defence, was convicted by a jury earlier this year of one count of causing grievous bodily harm on February 26 2004.

Frostwolf 04-06-2005, 12:20:PM Ashley Cole is a disgrace, he simply doesn't deserve Arsenal. If Wenger and Dein are seriously not going to consider the option of selling to the highest bidder now, then they should let him rot in the reserves for two years - putting his England place in jeopardy in the process - and give Clichy the #3 shirt, that lad has bags of talent. Less fµckwits like Ferdinand and Cole and more of the likes of Terry and Carragher is what football needs right now.
According to the Premier League commission which ruled on the tapping-up scandal on Wednesday, Cole pulled no punches in his conversation with the Chelsea hierarchy when he said that Arsenal had no team spirit, was run by the French players and he would rather be at Stamford Bridge.

Agree, except for Terry? Terry is nearly as dimwitted as Ferdinand, actually. The only reason he seems to be a quiet honest worker is that he's too ******* thick to know how to speak.

Thats funny 'cos Sol Campbell said the same thing about the Frenchies at Arsenal and the lack of team spirit....part of the reason that he has been frozen out as a matter of fact.

Dreath 04-06-2005, 04:26:PM From my knowledge Wenger didn't promise him a pay rise. Ashley Cole was not happy with his contract, fair enough. So he went out to get a new one, illegally, Arsenal are not completely innocent because hypothetically we should of given him a great contract or something like that. But the problem is, is that you can't do that with football contracts. It's not so simple like in FM where you offer 80k and they sign and everyone's happy. Daved Dein is not stupid, he's a very astute guy who knows the financial constraints Arsenal are under. If he can only offer 55k a week to Ashley and he wants 60k, that is all he's going to offer. No player is bigger than his club, and never should be.

Wenger also questioned if it was worth losing the player for the difference, but its short sighted to think of it in terms of that difference in amount, rather than on principle. He is one of the senior team players(experience in the team than age) and a home grown player at that and has always been loyal, his actions with regard to a very public meeting are very disappointing, but arsenal cant be allowed to have the uper hand without a challenge, this is the basis for any negotiation in almost all contractual negotiations in pretty much any field.
I consider it a lame argument also that issue of 'being bigger than the club' thing comes up, dein was on tv mid last week and was talking about how we pay our top players at comparative market rates, and until this came up some were going on about how he was the best left back, but arsenal after initially agreeing to the contract, then backtracked who wouldnt be pissed off,and what kind of impression are the club giving, especially as this is not the first time something like this has happened. Edu revealed the games arsenal were playing with him, and after hed already been pissed off and made up his mind he was leaving, arsenal then came up with the what he had asked for all the while, same with wiltord and now pires, you can argue the age issue with those guys but it just even makes arsenal position over the cole affair more ridiculous.
It's not the fact that Cole was trying to get a new deal or whatever. It's the fact that he's appealing the decision against him claiming he has a right to find other job opportunities while still under contract. Sports is an entirely different business compared to other regular jobs and he signed a contract KNOWING what the rules are.
He can leave as there are other talents that Wenger can unearth. I don't even care about him being a homegrown player as it doesn't even matter considering we have enough already.

lol i think someone needs to step into reality.
We have Clichy but he is not ready to pay 40+ games i mean what if he does last the season, we get caught out with no decent replacement a left back, if coles goes which is looking more than likely we need to sign a Experienced replacement so we can shape Clichy into place, he has a future here but he is not ready to be our no.1 Left Back

Arsenal sign Imps starlet Hobbs
Arsenal have signed teenager Jack Hobbs from League Two side Lincoln City, according to reports.
The Gunners have beaten Manchester United in the race to land the 16-year-old central defender.
Highbury chief executive David Dein is set to authorise a six-figure payment for the Imps star.
Hobbs joined Lincoln in 1997 as a nine-year-old in their academy and has progressed through the youth ranks to earn a first team squad spot this year.

Arsenal are considering a swoop for Slovakia national team goalkeeper Kamil Contofalsky who is currently on the books of Zenit St Petersburg.
The www.profutbal.sk website reports that Zenit coach Vlastimil Petrzela has confirmed the interest of the London club in the 27-year-old shotstopper.
Petrzela, who is Czech, said: "Everybody knows about Contofalsky and Arsenal."
Another Zenit player from Slovakia, defender Martin Skrtel, has been linked with European champions Liverpool by the same website.
Skrtel is under contract with the Russian club until 2007.

I'd personally move heaven and earth to get SWP here. He's a revalation. He'd be the bright spark for us. He's like Marc Overmars but English. He can defend pretty well for a winger, he can dribble, shoot, pass. Everything. And Europe could be the making of him.
ivanchin99 16-06-2005, 09:43:AM Talks over Pires deal break down
Pires' career statistics
Contract talks between Arsenal and Robert Pires have broken down, with the Gunners reportedly considering selling the France midfielder this summer.
The club have offered a one-year extension to the 32-year-old, whose deal expires at the end of next season.
But he wants two more years and Arsenal may opt to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2006.
Valencia and Lyon are among the clubs interested in him and Pires has spoken about finishing his career in Spain.
He joined Arsenal from Marseille for £6m in July 2000 and has scored 73 goals in 232 games for the club.
The Frenchman finished last season in good form, ending up with 17 goals.
But boss Arsene Wenger does not like to offer long contracts to players over 30 and said in April: "He will be 33 next year and we will go from year to year."
After the emergence of youngsters like Cesc Fabregas and Mathieu Flamini, and with the Gunners looking to bring VfB Stuttgart's Aleksandr Hleb to Highbury, Pires could now be set to leave.[/QUOTE]

TheBlueBalla 16-06-2005, 03:59:PM Oh f*cking hell. It's gonna be another one of those summers :(
Yeah, but its not as if a contract battle over Pires is going to be that distracting to the team, I'd think. Viera the bald cvnty was a lynchpin that needed immediate replacing if he left for Madrid last summer, but an aging Pires, if Arsenal can get the funds your supposed to have, can be replaced, id think, without too much interruption in the side. As such, id say Arsenal has the upper hand in dealing with him. Wasnt Inter heavily intrested in him at one point, or so the rumor went?
And by the way, whats the deal with Ljunberg's new contract? I remember his statement over the team needing to be competitive. Losing him, Pires, and Cole in one summer, well, that could be damn tough to get over, no matter how much money you get to spend
rsnjg 16-06-2005, 04:30:PM Honestly i don't think there is anything to worry about, concerning Pires and Ljungberg, because they both have at least a year left on their current contracts so they should get sorted out by the start of the season.
However in a year or two, we will have major rebuilding to do with the majority of our left side leaving through retirement (Pires) or chasing £5k (Cole). So i believe that AW has to make a decision now to sell Cole now and let Clichy get comfortable at LB or let Cole play and hope that he decides to stay.
I just hope that by the time we move in to the new stadium we have a settled squad.
Dreath 16-06-2005, 04:54:PM Well, I was talking more about the van Persie thing. We seem to suck at summertime. Nothing EVER goes our way.

Arsenal linked with Real's Guti
Arsenal are reportedly tracking Real Madrid's Guti but face competition from Juventus and AC Milan.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who is rated at £13m and was previously linked with Liverpool, has expressed interest in joining Arsene Wenger's side.
"After Real Madrid, his only desire if he was be to move to England, would be to play for Arsenal," said his agent Zoran Vekic.
"He likes their style, team spirit and, of course, they have a great coach."
Guti has become an increasingly peripheral figure at the Bernabeu after 10 years with Real and looks set for a summer move abroad.
He was close to joining the Gunners in an £11m deal two years ago but had cold feet at the last minute and instead signed to stay in the Spanish capital.
Liverpool were thought to be leading the chase to sign Guti but boss Rafael Benitez has since changed his priorities, leaving the way open for Arsenal.
However, Wenger is unlikely to meet Real's £13m valuation and will hope to negotiate any potential fee down to £8m.
More Transfer Rumours..

And as for Guti £8m seems a bit much for a 28 yr old who hasn't really played a full season or fixed position for a long time.
IMO if Freddy left then he would be an ideal replacement but you have to question why Real are willing to let him go now after he only re-signed a season or two ago
We should stop pissing about with the Helb deal and offer them £7/8m instead, if we are looking for this type of player.
Anymore news on Julio Baptista?? He would be a great signing and a bargin @ £10m

Wenger confident on Hleb signing
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident Belarus midfielder Alexander Hleb will be at Highbury next season.
"The transfer will be completed in the next few days. I think he can start packing his bags to come to us," Wenger told the Stuttgarter Nachrichten paper.
Wenger has reportedly already held an initial meeting with the 24-year-old after being granted permission from VfB Stuttgart to open transfer talks.
Stuttgart have agreed to sell after Arsenal increased their offer to £6m.
Wenger is a long-time admirer of the talented, two-footed midfielder and has wasted no time in negotiating a quick deal while in Germany commentating on the Confederations Cup for French television.
And he stepped up his interest as soon as new Stuttgart coach Giovanni Trapattoni made it clear Hleb could leave.
"It is fundamentally not a good idea to force a player to stay when they want to leave," Trappattoni told Bild magazine. "The team is far more important than one individual."
Hleb has scored 13 goals in 137 Bundesliga appearances for Stuttgart, and has won 10 senior caps for Belarus.
He has three years left on his deal with the Bundesliga club and recently his agent insisted both Arsenal and Chelsea were interested in signing the Belarus midfielder.
"Chelsea are also genuinely interested, however Arsenal have priority as Arsene Wenger has been dreaming of having Alexander in his team for two years now," said his representative Nikolai Spilevski.
I know its been talked about here at length, but Wenger coming out and saying this is a pretty clear indication that he must be on his way. A great signing, for many reasons, not the least of which is getting another talent loaded youngster who is only 24. Granted, you lot still need that Viera replacement type, but surely this lad will be a hit in the Library. If you hang onto him, Fabregas, and Flammini for a few years, thats gonna be pretty scary.
Bummy_JaB 24-06-2005, 02:48:PM With Hleb almost def comin I think we can say goodbye to my man Pires :kader: :kader:

rsnjg 24-06-2005, 06:36:PM Pires still has one year left on his contract, so i can't see Arsenal letting him go for free and i don't think Pires would want to leave before his contract is up. So that leaves him leaving on a Bosman at the end of next season.
Will be sad to see him leave...

And that can only benefit Belarus as well :rockman: .

Nice how you found a way to describe him as the next coming. You should've mentioned that he was one of the main reasons for Stuttgart's annual choking at the end of the season.

Help? 25-06-2005, 04:30:AM Hleb is a central playmaker, not a winger. He makes a lot of through balls instead of crosses.
Vince: It's a team's sport. The team relied on him for the whole season. If a team can't play without one guy, then they shouldn't be playing in the top league. He is only 24 and that's very young for a good player, who still has at least 4 years before his peak. Even Pires or Henry can't stay on top form for 9 month straight.

Bobby 25-06-2005, 07:17:AM We needed this tho, we've been losing midfielders like crazy lately. Need a man who can hit a though ball too.
rsnjg 25-06-2005, 01:39:PM Fvck, Chelsea have made an offer of £18m for SWP, and with Man City in £80m debt i don't think they will refuse. I hope Wenger does something to intervene maybe a first option or something, because i can't see him bidding £18m.
Or we could do what Man U did for Rooney and declare our interest in the player (because i think SWP would rather play for us than Chelsea) then come in with an offer (full of performance clauses) equivilant to or slighty lower than, Chelsea's straight £18m.
Please let him not go to them its clear he is mean't to be an Arsenal player.
henry#14 25-06-2005, 02:33:PM Guti isn't really best out wide. He's better when he's played as a CAM or CF.

van persie - wat a f.uking star, shame he has to be stupid enough to do what he did
ivanchin99 26-06-2005, 11:00:AM Wenger eyes two world-class stars
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has vowed to bring in two world-class players to win back the Premiership title.
The Gunners finished 12 points behind Chelsea last season but Wenger, who has been linked with Brazilian star Robinho, says that they will be back.
"I will win back our place at the top of that table by putting into action plans I have been working on," he told the News of the World newspaper.
"It includes recruiting two world-class players to make us stronger."
Wenger is expected to bring in Stuttgart midfielder Aleksander Hleb, while reports suggest that the Gunners boss has put in a £14m bid for Santos striker Robinho.
"Thierry isn't going anywhere. The same goes for Patrick. He will also stay with us for next season - as will Robert"
Arsene Wenger
The 21-year-old has been courted by Spanish giants Real Madrid but the player's agent Juan Figer claims that Arsenal have now jumped to the front of the queue for the talented forward.
Wenger suggested that the players coming in may be dependent on any exits from Highbury.
But the Frenchman insisted that Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires are going nowhere.
"There have been rumours about Thierry Henry and Barcelona," he added. "Of course I know about them but they're all just talk.
"They are rumours and they are unfounded and he isn't going anywhere.
"The same goes for Patrick. He will also stay with us for next season - as will Robert."

Oz_Leeds_Fan 26-06-2005, 02:33:PM Arsenal make £14m Robinho bid
Soccernet
Arsenal have made a £14million bid for Brazilian wonderboy Robinho after officials flew to Nuremburg last night to make a final check on the striker during the Confederations Cup semi-final against Germany.
The 21-year-old Santos star has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid but the Gunners have now have outbid the La Liga giants, who believed they could land the striker for approximately £10million, according to the Spanish media.
Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley has made a number of trips to scout South American youngsters and Robinho, who has been likened to Ronaldinho because of his dazzling dribbling skills, is top of the list.
The Sao Paulo born player was heavily linked with a move away from Brazil following the kidnapping of his mother, Marina Lima de Souza, from a family barbecue in December last year. She was later returned after being held for ransom.
Real were the club most frequently mentioned with a swoop for the unsettled youngster and the Gunners can expect a transfer battle.
The other World class star would seem to be Robinho if Wenger has his way and Soccernet have their facts straight. Ive gotta say i'd rather him in the EPL than in Spain so i can see him play more often because ive really enjoyed watching him in the Confeds Cup. And Him and Henry would be just unstoppable together i think....
donovan929 26-06-2005, 02:39:PM I fancy Robinho yah and that he is still young but how would we please him if were loaded with strikers like Henry, Bergkemp, Reyes, and Quincy?
Eng4WorldCup 26-06-2005, 03:52:PM i was about to say the same thing... how can we accomodate hleb and robinho??
fair enough to say that i guess robinho would start ahead with henry, but then youd have to have either reyes/pires, van persie, and bergkamp on the bench. not to mention quincy, lupoli and aliadiere in reserves. for hleb to start, youd be taking away a starting spot for ljungberg/pires/gilberto, and then youd be putting fabregas into the reserves, also flamini could go back there.
Bobby 26-06-2005, 04:13:PM Finally the club shows some balls.
I think Hleb will take Edu's place (and his 17)
Eng4WorldCup 26-06-2005, 04:15:PM so what number will robinho take then? i think if they both come robinho would take 17... with hleb taking 21?
Bobby 26-06-2005, 04:16:PM so what number will robinho take then? i think if they both come robinho would take 17... with hleb taking 21?
Hleb could get 5 too. It's not too out of place for a midfielder.

According to the Arsenal website, Bentley needs a number aswell, if he stays that is.
Bobby 26-06-2005, 04:30:PM he has 37, then 10.
enigma 26-06-2005, 04:38:PM Yeah Bentley will be our next 10.
donovan929 26-06-2005, 07:01:PM Robinho doesn't care what number he has... give him an American football number like 80 or 99 and he won't have any problems :)
Bentley might be used as a bargaining tool to get SWP.
donovan929 26-06-2005, 08:39:PM if the club does snatch Robinho, that would be amazing.. the squad would be so stacked
