I think Groningen is a good draw and we will beat them as well, starting with the homegame where we need to create distance cause in Groningen they are very hard to beat this season. If we can score 3 or 4 goals (and the Hunter will at least score once) like we did against 010 than we will go through I'm sure of that!

About Mauro, he is badly injured it seems and won't be playing the rest of the playoffs, Ajax is hoping that he will be fit to play when we play in the finals for the Gatorade Cup against psv on the 7th of may but that's not certain as well. Let's hope he will recover quickly cause he made the difference against 010 by scoring the first goal twice and because the way he is playing at the moment. It's a real shame and I feel very sorry for him :(

Maduro's anckle was a bit thick this afternoon so they will wait to see what's his condition tomorrow, he twisted his anckle in a bad way though.
I'm pretty sure his WC in Germany is not at stake here.

EDIT: Just heard news about the injuries on Talpa: Mauro will be out for 4 weeks he has a hamstring injury :( so the season is over for him.

Maduro's anckle is injured but they're not sure what kind, maybe they can get him ready for wednesday just maybe but that's no certainty.
He goes to the hospital tomorrow for a scan, let's hope for the best guys.

So we meet again this season :) ... Hopefully we can avoid as much damage as possible in Amsterdam, and then finish the job in Euroborg. Our season has been unbelievable and reaching the CL 3rd qualification round would be utterly astounding. We'll see, I'm pretty hopeful Ajax will underestimate us, just like AZ did.

We will not underestimate you cause we did that last time in Euroborg, this time we will be ready and Groningen goes down :brow:
You may have talented players with Groningen but not as much class as we have and we have THE HUNTERRRRR normally you don't stand a chance in Amsterdam and let's be honest Groningen is not and will never be Champions League material
We'll be waiting on Wednesday, welcome to H E L L (6)

damn! that will be a big loss; like you said, he's been in terrific form and has made the crucial moments count ... I guess its a chance for Ryan Babel (or Harry) to step up and shine ...

and good to hear that Maduro's WC participation is not in jeopardy ... Lindenbergh will be an adequate replacement for now ...

haahaha yes! what a series! After a depressing season our boys finally put on the performances that make us proud Ajax fans once again, and against Feyenoord, how good is that?!

Let's hope we'll continue this form and batter Groningen!

Yup and I'm watching tv right now on Talpa is the Groningen trainer as guest.
He says he will have a problem on wednesday cause all his players are very very tired. They had to go really deep today where Ajax didn't have to work real hard to trash 010 again. Well I have news for you Ron Jans from Groningen, you will not only have a problem because of tired players but because you play against AFC AJAX AMSTERDAM.
If we don't beat them then we have no business in the Champions League it's as simple as that cause Groningen is not more than subtop/midrange.
Ajax is like reborn where they are exhausted, we have players who can go the distance cause the trainings are much harder and in much higher tempo than the trainings in Groningen. We will be the winners I have every faith in that.

HOT NEWS!!

Ajax made Boukhari a new offer today because of his consistence play in the last few months, they want to break open his contract.
Congrats Nourdin you deserved it! :ewan:
I hope he accepts cause he showed how important he can be for the team, a hard worker, take great freekicks, has a great pass and he scores goals, Ajax would be a fool to let him go to another club, especially in Holland.
That is NOT going to happen. Danny Blind was extatic after the game about Boukhari.

EDIT: great news about Boukhari! He has been loyal, and a hardworker ... I agree completely that letting him go for free to another Dutch club would have been stupid (as he showed us last time, when we loaned him out) ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK ... so we had a terrible season, but now it looks like we'll be able to turn things around and get back into the Champions League ...

now the big question is: should Danny Blind stay?

I hear that following recent results, his stock has risen, with many supporters calling for his retention ... but then do we just forget the season that was and take a chance with him?

I was always of the opinion that Blind should get the sack ... he appeared too stubborn with his systems and formations, and what was worst was that judging by how we played all season, we were deservedly 4th best in the league; and that is no place for Ajax!

but then I remember that it was this current management who were responsible for bringing The Hunter to the ArenA and solving the striking problem that dated back all the way to two seasons ago, when Zlatan moved on ... Blind made the right choice there, but can he do so again by filling in all the voids to be left by the future departees?

Blind's track record has been poor (we should have known what was coming after that 0-4 reverse at home to 040), and so bringing in a new coach looks very inviting ...

on the other hand, though, he seems to have finally brought some stability to the team, as KJH has shined under him; changing coach now might undo the stabilization efforts and put us back to stage 1 ... and says who that a new coach will do any better?

I'm still leaning toward letting him go, but I fear that that would be taking too big a gamble with whoever his replacement might be ...

Silencer
23-04-2006, 10:51:PM
I think Blind should deserve the chance to prove himself as a coach with a full healthy team without injuries, suspensions etc. he had to puzzle a lot in the last season. The changing of the positions all the time was not good and I was not happy with that at all but I want to see Blind work with all players but let's get to the CL first shall we ;)

23-04-2006, 10:55:PM
like you said before, if we can't beat Groningen, then we don't deserve to be in the Champions League ... and if we as Ajax don't deserve to be in the Champions League, then something has to change ...

but, agreed ... we'll mull over stuff now, and then discuss after May 3rd ...

well if 010 was truly the better team, then they would have proved it over the two legs ... we've had a longer season than they've had, what with all the Champions League games and the travelling involved, and then the Cup matches ... but we came out on top, and big time!

F***noord and all the rest knew this was coming as soon as they knew they weren't going to win the Eredivisie ... if they weren't prepared, its their idiocy ...

I'm probably just saying all this because we're benefiting heavily from it ... even in England the promotion play-offs in the Championship seem so very harsh for those who finish third .... but the brave make their own luck, and I'm just proud of how well we've grabbed this lifeline!

EDIT:

Meh, Ajax need to beat Groningen to clinch the CL qualifications birth. They may be heavy favourites, Groningen has a lot of momentum also. They are very much in contention still.

Groningen are like snipers at the moment, one chance and they score. Their defense isn't as wobbly as Feyenoord's either.

If Ajax was truly the better team, then they wouldve proven that over 34 matches...It's ridiculous Ajax can get into CL, finishing 18 points behind AZ.

Xifio
24-04-2006, 12:49:PM
ah, here come the anti-Ajax crew with their "Ajax don't deserve it" sentiments! :boohoo:

I hope everyone understands that the season is no longer 34 matches, but now 38 matches ... I mean it sounds as if people feel this play-off system has only now kicked in, and Ajax and Groningen are cheating the front two by sneaking in ... but everybody knew at the beginning of the season that this was the system that was going to be employed: if you don't win the league, then a top 5 finish is enough for the play-offs ...

once we at Ajax realized that the title was out of reach, we kept ourselves within, or within touching distance of, the play-off spots ... its just working with the system ...

and we didn't just beat 010 in those two legs ... it was an absolute rout!

if AZ and F***noord can't take it, or don't have the stamina to go all the way through the 38 games, then they have no one to blame but themselves ...

now rpvankasteren has kindly pointed out that Groningen still stand in our way, so nothing is assured yet ... but as Max said, let's hope for the sake of Dutch football that we make it through ...

What about the play-offs for the promotion/relegation.

Is it also not fair that number 17 can in theory get promotion?

You can b*tch all you want about the playoffs but they are a fact so it's better for every club to make the best of it and Ajax worked towards them.
Right now we are one step away from preround CL and Groningen will be the next to go down. Like I said earlier, Groningen is good but in no way they are better than Ajax we proved this against 010. Snipers?? Bwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha maybe they can score a goal or two but they lost to AZ yesterday because most of the game they played like crap and Ajax has better goalscorers than AZ anyway. Perez must be laughing his @ss off cause he's coming to Amsterdam anyway ;)
Don't forget that Groningen away were terrible this season, they took most points at de Euroborg so we need to make sure that we create enough distance in de ArenA on wednesday and I'm confident that we will.

PSVFOREVER: Stop polluting other threads with your negativity, you are nothing but a 'meeloper' and I know you know that term. As soon as someone starts hammering on Ajax you love to join them. Err, get a life? me? Every post of yours is full of swearing, downgrading of every opposition. You know, you've never called Feyenoord by it's name, it's always 010, Feya**** etc. etc. I at least respect other clubs, I always refer to Ajax, Feyenoord etc. Besides that, I never attack a person, as you obviously do. Look at your post above...

I guess it's just Hollandse arrogantie. That's why we, down the rivers, hate you Hollanders. You tend to think you're superior.

Down the rivers :brow: bwaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha man that's good English isn't it :o
Well about 010, I'm never saying the F-word in full that's correct but then again no one does in Amsterdam or as Ajacied.
Same as they call Amsterdam 020 in Rotterdam it's as simple as that.
That and the fact that I seriously hate 010 with a vengeance and same goes for Lampcity 040 but we hate 010 more than 040 but that doesn't mean that we like 040 do you understand or should I draw out a map for you :brow:
Credit where credit's due though, Groningen had a fantastic season and I very much respect Ron Jans as a coach. But they are going down this time cause no one is going to stop us to reach the Champions League prerounds.

a lot of your arguments just prove my point. did u guys really finish 18 pts behind AZ? they were better than you over 34 games as the final standings CLEARLY PROVE. even if they lose the 4 games and yo guys win them you'd still be out of the CL. i'm nt trying to downgrade what u guy have done but i find this to be very unfair for clubs like AZ who have had a great season and fail on their CL aspirations for a qualifying format that CLEARLY aids the bigger clubs.

through your opinions you beat Feyenoord twice and that all good, but that doesn't mean you guys deserve it more than them. Benfica beat Porto twice this year, but still finished 10+ points behind us for the League Chmpionship. does that mean Porto doesn't deserve to win the League. Don't fotget that the big clubs play each other 2 times a season for the league. There is 30+ games to play that all count for the final standings.

imagine one team gets 30 pts and another team gets 13 pts(this can happen just look at various standings over the past years). These teams meet in a relegation battle and over the two games the 13 pt team defeats the 30 pt team and they stay in the first division. that is bul**** IMO.

anyway i'm not here to start ****, just stating my opinion on these playoff ideas.

24-04-2006, 07:54:PM
Everybody just has to accept the fact that the whole competition lasts 38 matches instead of 34 and you can't just stop playing football at the end. It can be unfair but is Boogerd's lose at Luik-Bastenaken-Luik race or is Barcelona's defeat against Chelsea last year or is AZ's defeat against Sporting or is PSV's defeat against AC Milan? No, no, no and no, but that's just sport guys and that's what makes it charming. And I promise I would've said this aswell when I was an AZ fan.

And Cody, I admit we Hollanders act superior but in the end we are the ones that produce the dosh so may we?

Silencer
24-04-2006, 08:34:PM
not fair blablabla learn to live with it, get over it.
The playoffs are a fact so you can whine all you want, AZ had the chance to get to the finals but they blew it themselves. Ajax did the best thing they could and with good play we will reach the prerounds of the CL.
I think we deserve it too, we had a rotten season, not only because of bad play but because Ajax had to play with a lot of youngsters all the time. Too many damn injuries during this season made sure that it was impossible for us to finish on top. Now we have the chance to reach the CL, sure we are lucky that the playoffs only just started in this season I admit that but since they are here, let's just win them and proceed to the prerounds of the CL and the cupfinal against psv.

Idiots :nape:
Maduro will be out for 2 to 4 weeks is what I heard yesterday on AT5 :(
But there is some good news too, Wesley Sneijder will start on the bench but it's expected that he will get playingtime against Groningen.

More news of today:

Ajax officially made Boukhari an offer to stay in Amsterdam
It's not sure that Thomas Vermaelen can play tomorrow against Groningen and that's real bad news if you ask me. He has some minor problems with his leg, let's hope he can make it because it will be a big problem in defense if he can't play with Maduro's injury and all...

Tomorrow after the game Ajax will say goodbye to the players who are leaving the club: Galasek, Pienaar, Trabelsi, Anastasiou, Juanfran and maybe Boukhari but I hope not. So I will be there anyway and give them all a standing ovation because these guys gave their heart and soul for the club.

Some idiots tried to burn down the supportershome again last night, they were caught redhanded by the police cause someone saw them walking up to the home. It seems that they are both from Delft so that means either ADO supporters or 010 supporters (I'm guessing the last).

Transfernews: Ajax wants David Mendes Da Silva to return to Amsterdam, he is now playing for NAC and scored a great goal against us a few weeks back which was the goal of the week.
He was with Ajax for a season but didn't got any playtime from Ronald Koeman.
Fey.. wants him as well but if he is smart he will choose Ajax of course :p

Danny Blind is not sure that he will be headcoach next season, he is dissapointed in the board that refuses to support him. They stay quiet about his position and that stings him. He has told this to Martin van Geel today.
Blind refuses to comment on everything right now till after the playoffs or maybe even untill the final has been played against psv.
Studio Voetbal (tvprogram) on sunday was sure that Ten Cate is the ONLY candidate to become the new Ajaxcoach.
So what I suspected all along is true, I think the coming games are going to be the last ones for Blind.

First win guys 2-0 against the farmers Groningen, should be enough next week. Groningen needs to score 3 times to go through and I'm sure we get enough chances to score ourselves cause Groningen needs to attack to force goals the chances will come for KJH and others.
It's great for Markus that he scored again today and same goes for Harry, but in all fairness it should've been 4 or 5 to nothing for us!!
But we can finish the job next week and Ajax will I'm sure of that, prerounds CL are almost there, one more match and we sure as hell not gonna give that away :jambo:

Well we had a great goodbye ceremony tonight at de ArenA for the players who are leaving but Galasek was the main man tonight that was obvious.
Thanks Tomas for all the years and all that you've done. Good luck!

We and the players tonight supported Danny Blind in every way, the way that the players cuddled Danny after the goals speaks volumes. I think he will leave the club but we needed to let him know that to us he is Ajacied all the way!

just got to see the game ... good win, and I'm really happy for Markus ... he's deserved that goal for a long time now, and his celebration showed how much frustration was building up in him ...

but like you say Martijn, it should have so much more ... The Hunter missed a sitter (can't believe I'm saying that!), although he did have that defender on his tail ... and Ryan Babel, clean through should have sealed it ... Sneijder should have also kept his calm on the rebound instead of going for something specatcular ...

Galasek himself could have gotten on the scoresheet ... but he didn't win our heart through goals ... it was his gritty performances, and we thank him for his hard work and leadership!

As for Blind ... ye, he's gonna go, but we shouldn't forget his years of service as a player in addition to his current coaching position ... he truly is an Ajacied, through and through ... I'm glad for him that he can leave with his head held high ...

Nourdin Boukhari has been special in the last month and a bit ... he NEEDS to stay!

all in all, we look good to progress at De Euroborg ... and that means that we do get some consolation this season! let's just hope we improve our shooting in time for the cup final, and we would have really salvaged this season!

Those matches are pretty boring mostly like every pre-season match except for the final of about 2 years ago vs Barca.

Goodbye to Hatem and Tomas they're the ones who really deserve this saying goodbye and deserve to leave the club after those fine years. The other 3 are either money-grabbing bastards(Pienaar) or useless(Juanfran and Anastasiou)

any truth in this thing about Van Gaal? and Rijkaard's on our "wishlist"?!

Ajax have reportedly contacted AZ Alkmaar coach Louis van Gaal about the possibility of replacing Danny Blind at the end of the season.

The Amsterdam club have had a disappointing season by their own high standards, finishing fourth in the Eredivisie, although they could still qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Blind is widely tipped to be shown the door this summer, with Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard and his assistant Henk ten Cate both rumoured to be on Ajax's wish list.

However, van Gaal has now emerged as another candidate, according to widespread media speculation.

AZ chairman Dirk Scheriga does not expect van Gaal to leave AZ though.

"He's still got two years left on his contract and he has never dissolved a contract himself."

its rubbish according to me, but you never in football ...

Van Gaal is not coming believe me, Ten Cate is.
It seems the negotiations with him are going as planned and he cancelled psv already. He leaves the option open to become the new coach of Ajax and I think that it's his only goal if he decides to leave Barca and I think he will.
After the CL final he will be presented shortafter as the new Ajaxcoach.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, WE KOMEN!

That was clooooooooooooooose omg what a terrible Ajax tonight, they were outplayed by Groningen that's for sure. The individual class of Sneijder did it tonight, Charisteas was fantastic as well. The Hunter was invisible tonight but that's because of the defender Sanko from Groningen he was awesome so my hat's off to him and to Groningen for the way they played. It was a match which had everything! Maarten Stekelenburg pulled us through though no doubt about that :D
But.....we did it so we are going to have a go for the CL again and be honest, Groningen in the CL is a joke of course :o

When we play prerounds we will have new players who have joined the team, Stam, Perez, Krohn-Dehli, Defour (very close to a contract), Kromkamp??
And with Ten Cate as our new headcoach or maybe even Rijkaard who knows.. Ajax is planning to buy more players still so it's going to be exciting in Amsterdam soon I hope.

THANKS WESLEY YOU'RE A REAL TROOPER AND 100% AJACIED cause he said in an interview recently that he is going NOWHERE and will stay in Amsterdam.
His words:"It would be real stupid to leave now that I just signed a new contract wouldn't it?" "I'm not going to AC Milan or any other club"

Onto the CL!

Sunday will be an interesting match. The team with match rhytm vs. the team that is well rested. If Ajax plays like yesterday, it will be a walkover though.

O btw PSV Forever: IN YOUR FACE NANANANANAAAAA a walkover my @ss.

12-05-2006, 08:31:PM
It seems that Vitesse wants him as replacement for Edward Sturing and he has two offers from foreign clubs so they say.

More news I've read today: The deal with Steven Defour will be through next week, Simon Cziommer is on the virge of signing for Ajax since he declined the offer at Roda JC so this means that it's almost sure he will go to Amsterdam. Martin van Geel had a few meetings with Mario Melchiot to replace Trabelsi cause he is leaving Birmingham.
Ajax wants to bring Edgar Davids back home and he is allowed to leave according to Martin Jol.

News about the new coach: Everyone is certain it's going to be Henk ten Cate but I've heard today on RTVNH that it could be possible that FRANK RIJKAARD is going to be the new headcoach and Ten Cate to remain his assistent, Rijkaard is thinking about leaving Barca in the summer but it could well depend on the result this wednesday against Arsenal. Also they want to bring Aron Winter in as an assistent coach.
Many things are going to happen in a short period of time, I hope it will all be good for Ajax but let's stay positive shall we..

And last but not least: NOURDIN BOUKHARI signed a new contract for two years and personally I'm glad he did. He works hard for the team, never complains and scores goals. I think he's an important worker for the team.
There has been contact with FC Nantes but he wants to remain in Amsterdam (of course ;)

Zlatan
12-05-2006, 08:49:PM
Man if those rumours would all come true I'd go dance naked in the Kalverstraat. But I don't think that would happen. Rijkaard our new coach? I think that's never gonna happen. Cziommer is in contract negotiation with AZ reported VI.nl so I'm afraid he won't come to Ajax either. But I really hope Edje will return, his influence and leadership and expierience will give the squad an incredible boost. Defour, I didn't hear much about him but he's supposed to be a big talent let's see how he turns out. :D

Silencer
12-05-2006, 09:11:PM
I very much doubt that Cziommer will go to AZ cause AZ is no topclub.
Maybe they finished on 2nd place but AZ is and always will be a subtopclub and not a topclub. Sure they had a few good seasons and van Gaal is coach but that's about it. Cziommer said he wanted to go to a TOPclub and that means AJAX right..

Ajax will open talks next week with RC Genk to negotiate a deal for Defour, the Belgian told this himself on Belgian tv.
I agree about Davids though, his heart is red and white so let's bring him home, together with Perez and Sneijder in midfield :p

Hopeunited
12-05-2006, 09:53:PM
mmm maybe Rijkaard wants a new challenge and wants to take the club he loves back to the stature it was back in the day... who knows?!

News of today:

Boukhari will leave Ajax after all, on the website from FC Nantes you can read that he has signed a contract for 3 years there but no official confirmation yet..where there's smoke... :boohoo: Byebye Nourdin and god speed :ewan:

There has been no contact with Melchiot as of yet and he says he wants to remain in England and is not ready to move back to Holland yet so that's a no go.

RC Genk doesn't want to lose Defour and want to offer him more money, this week negotiations start between Ajax and Genk so let's see how this goes cause Defour has set his mind for Ajax and wants to leave Genk 100% and if a player wants to go then he will..

Today on RTVNH the presenter asked Martin van Geel if Edgar Davids will be playing in red/white next season and this was his answer:"I certainly hope so that would be great!" so in other words they are talking with him.
Spurs say he is not allowed to leave but it's already a done deal. They only want to have more leverage to sell him for a high price. Hugo Borst told this on Studio Voetbal (TV)

The opponents for the 3d prerounds of the CL for Ajax are becoming more clearer but they have to survive the 2nd round first ;)
The teams could well be the following:

Austria Wien, Spartak Moskou, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Star Belgrado, Hearts FC, Maccabi Haifa, Standard Liege, FC Kopenhagen, Legia Warschau, Vålerengen IF en FC Zürich, also the next clubs can still become opponents: Slovan Liberec, Fenerbahçe and Fiorentina hmmmmm my picks: Zagreb, Belgrade, Valerengen, Zurich Liberec. NOT Standard, Kopenhagen (they kicked us out of European football a few seasons back), Legia, Fenerbahce and definitely NO FIORENTINA cause they are very good at the moment and if we face off against them, I hope Luca Toni will be sold to the highest bidder ;)

This thursday, Henk ten Cate will give disclosure about this future but it's 99,9% that he will go to Ajax. Johan Cruyff is an important advisor and talked with Ten Cate together with Martin van Geel and Piet Keizer well...... if they went to Barca then it's a sure thing believe me. Furthermore.. he will be a guest on TV on sundaynight with Studio Voetbal here in Holland that's no coincidence either..

AND NOW THE KICKER:

THE HUNTER IS NOT GOING TO THE WC IN GERMANY WTFFFFFFFFF :kader:
Thank you says Foppe de Haan and "welcome to Jong Orange".
Big mistake Marco big mistake choosing that Vennegoor loser over KJH the whole nation is in shock believe me. The news was all over it. Journalists tried to call him on his cellphone after the news and KJH said this:"leave me alone no comment go away and let me relax today".
Again I'm really dissapointed but on the other hand I'm very happy for Ryan Babel, Wesley Sneijder, Hedwiges Maduro, Maarten Stekelenburg, John Heitinga well done lads a big Ajax representation.

Zlatan
15-05-2006, 07:07:PM
And I thought van Basten didn't select big names. :(

Well I still trust San Marco but I'm also pissed he's taken the best in-form Dutch striker of the moment not with him to the WC.

(you can read all about it in the Oranje thread)

David Endt was on 'Voetbal Insite' tonight and Ajax makes it their first priority to bring Edgar Davids back to Amsterdam and it's looking good according to Derksen :)
Ten Cate is 100% certain, he will be on Voetbal Insite also next week, he will be headcoach and will select his own technical staff but duuuuuuuuh we already knew that didn't we :p

Smth completely different now..
Heard the news about the great Juventus btw?? I mean OMG they could be relegated and sent to the Serial B in Italy, also there could be a chance that they have to give the Scudetto to AC Milan. Moggi is a criminal if you ask me and the mastermind behind the scheme. This could well be very important for the WC and Italy.
What do you think will happen with players like Zlatan, Trezeguet etc if they have to play for the Serie B?? I don't think they will do that and leave the club asap.
They opened a can of worms now cause many clubs are involved like Fiorentina. Maybe only two teams will play CL next season and it won't be Juve

News today:

Barcelona will send out a pressrelease stating that Ten Cate will be leaving the club. They will tell the media on Saturday.
This sunday Ajax will have a pressconference where he will be presented as our new coach.
It seems that Frank de Boer will become one of his assistents.

Steven Defour rejected an offer from Genk for the same salary as Ajax but it has nothing to do with money alone according to Steven. Ajax is a topclub so a big step up and he can improve his career so he wants to go to Ajax waahahahaha too bad Genk.

According to van Geel it's Ajax first priority to get Edgar Davids back!

more to come of course....

Zlatan
18-05-2006, 04:40:PM

You guys just got a quality player today (Y). George Ogararu from Steaua is heading your way for 3.3 million euros after the season is over in Romania. He is a class right back who can go up the flanks and dribble and cross with the best of them. He's got good speed too. I hope he succeeds at Ajax along with Mitea for years to come. He's only 26 years old (Y).

Silencer
22-05-2006, 11:51:PM
Yep just read it on Ajax network, Ogararu is a good defender indeed and I hope he will settles in just nicely into the team that Ten Cate is building at the moment, good thing that Mitea has been in Amsterdam for a few years so he can talk his language and Mitea can show him around and helps him getting a house etc. if he wants but Ajax always insists on learning foreign players our language ;). Tonight Ten Cate told on tv that he wants Edgar Davids and that Davids is genuinly interested in making a possbile move to Ajax :)
And he said that Landzaat is an option behind Davids, Sneijder and Perez.
Man that would be fantastic since Denny is Ajaxschool :D

Hey guys more transfernews/rumours:

At this moment Ajax is negotiating with Gabri for a more years contract and it seems that he's coming. He has announced his farewell at Barca and he named Ajax as a very good option so only a matter of time...

Yannis signed a 2 year contract with Sparta, I'm happy for papa Yannis he did a lot of great things for us, he's a true gentleman and a very professional sportsman :) Good luck to him.

Ajax has showed interest in David Suazo, the Hondurasplayer from Cagliari Italy is topscorer there and it seems that he's wanted by a lot of teams like Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Spartak Moskou and AS Roma so he must be good :o
The rumour says that Ajax already made an offer for 12 Million US Dollars??!
ManUtd however made an offer for 16 million and AC Milan want to go even higher cause they see him as a good replacement for Sheva who is leaving for Chelsea probably. Suazo can play on the wings and as a striker.
I've never heard of him but we'll see how things go and I don't think he will come to Amsterdam seeing the interest from the richest clubs in the world :o

Ajax and RC Genk started talks again over Steven Defour, the player and Ajax already agreed on a deal but Genk is not cooperating at all. Defour is thinking to take them to court cause he really wants to play with Ajax.

Ten Cate wants to try all to bring Edgar Davids back to Ajax but the Spurs are not prepared to let him go easily, especially now that Mido returns to Roma.

To be continued ;)

Zlatan
31-05-2006, 05:06:PM
Why spend 12 million on another striker?

Hopeunited
31-05-2006, 10:16:PM
Suazo is a sick player. I saw him a lot on Serie A highlights becuz he always scores! He's this fast black guy with great finishing.

I think Ajax may want him because he's bound to move this summer and Ajax wants to grab him when the opportunity is there, before he ends up in Milan or Manchester, simply because he's a fantastic talent. But then again he's already 27 so I don't know if it's really a worthy move.

Silencer
01-06-2006, 11:51:AM
The former Ajax-scout Mircea Petescu says that we don't have to worry or anything because Ajax bought George Ogararu 'he is a winner'.
He is a more complete player than Trabelsi he says cause he can play in defense and in midfield, he has a great view on the game, he's smart and fast and he is a fantastic player for Ajax. The only thing is that he doesn't have much experience in International football but that's soon gonna change with Ajax and because he's been invited to play for the Romanian national squad. When Ajax signed Chivu and Bogdan, he also mentioned his name to Ajax but they were not interested. Now is the right time, he is a stronger defensive player than Trabelsi according to Petescu.

Sounds good to me, can't wait to see him play :p

Paulo Da Silva

Silencer
01-06-2006, 04:55:PM
Well what Ajax was missing is experienced players and now we're getting Jaap Stam, Kenneth Perez and maybe even Edgar Davids and that's good for the younger players in the team. Finally some leaders on the pitch like Stam and Perez. The other players (Ogararu, Krohn Deli) are good additions for the team. I'm not afraid about the chemistry, that will be just fine and Ten Cate is a peoples manager as well.

I heard that Roger Garcia was second in the list after Davids who won't coming to Ajax, so Ajax went for Roger Garcia from Villarreal...

Don't know if he's any good but he came highly recommended by Cruyff so I guess that says enough and he played for years with Barca so Gabri and Roger know eich other which is nice to adjust here :)
Too bad that Edgar decided not to come but that's football too I guess

Don't know how many of you guys are in the NY area but check this out if you do!

'Call to Arms': play for the Bergkamp Cup in NYC on July 22!

19 June: To celebrate the great career of former Ajacied and Gunner Dennis Bergkamp, our friends at Arsenal America have invited Ajax USA to field a team on July 22, the same day as the Bergkamp Testimonial match between Ajax and Arsenal. Have you got what it takes? (What it takes is $10 and the ability to get yourself to New York City on the day.)
http://www.ajax-usa.com/travel/2006/bergkamp-cup.html

I really, really wish I could play in this (even though I have little skill and even less fitness right now) :)_

News about Huntelaar (Y)

The manager from Huntelaar is saying that all the rumours about transfers regarding Huntelaar are and I quote:"TOTAL NONSENSE"
Huntelaar is not going anywhere, Fiorentina said that they already signed a contract hahahahaha  stupid Italians they just make me laugh
The manager says that Ajax will not pay 9m for a player that only will stay a half year!! :o
So that's that!

Van Basten told the media and press today that Huntelaar will be part of the team in 08 at the EC (seems normal) cause he is a great striker and he will only grow stronger and bigger he thinks.

Zlatan

Fiorentina, why would Klaas go to a team about to get relegated one or two division?

Oh and Klaas should've been part of the WC 06 team already. With him in the squad we would atleast have score more goals. :nape:

Good he's a great talent :)
Did you guys see the pressconference featuring Henk Ten Cate?
Man I like what he said but let's see if it works that way, he said a few things.

1. We have a great well balanced new selection with talent, experience and great footballers.
2. Ajax needs to get the ball as soon as possible and play on the opponents half.
3. Play attractive football
4. He wants to bring Ajax back to the top where they belong and he thinks that's a normal thing for a club like Ajax.
5. Frank de Boer will be an intern in the technical staff and after his training he will remain a member of the staff.
6. Aaron Winter will also be a member of his staff and he expects to call on him very often.

Well a few things I heard Danny say at the beginning of last season so let's see if it works this time.

I watched some footage of the first training today and boy it's soooooooooo great to see Jaap Stam in an Ajax outfit :bob:

I've read it's not a done deal yet (:/)

Anyway our first one of the season today against JOS Watergraafsmeer, lot of players were allowed to play and we won with 1-5 (too bad about goal though)

2x Mitea
1x Huntelaar
1x Poepon
1x Charisteas

And the Hunter started as our captain, in the 2nd half it was Lindenbergh who took over but according to HTC this means nothing cause he is still not sure who will be the new captain. I say choose STAM, experience and power!

Anyway it was nice for KJH to be the captain today :)
Ogararu played as a rightback the whole game so it looks like he is a definite replacement for Trabelsi.
Roger and Gabri played well also but Mitea was absolute magnificent on the leftwing.

YEAH Stam was captain today :)
Btw our strikers are getting into shape already, the Hunter scores three times and so did Charisteas (Y), Rosales twice and again Nikki Mitea :D

Vermeer, Ogararu ('75 Boakye), Stam ©, Schilder, Emanuelson ('46 Vertonghen), Gabri ('64 Lindenbergh), Manucharyan ('46 Mitea), Roger, Rosales ('58 De Mul), Huntelaar ('46 Charisteas), Perez ('64 Sarpong)

0-1 Huntelaar ('9, penalty)
0-2 Huntelaar ('17)
0-3 Huntelaar ('20)
0-4 Rosales ('53)
0-5 Rosales ('56)
0-6 Charisteas ('58)
0-7 Charisteas ('73)
0-8 Charisteas ('81)
0-9 Mitea ('83)
0-10 Lindenbergh ('84)
0-11 Sarpong ('88)

AND IT'S OFFICIAL JAAP STAM WILL BE OUR NEW CAPTAIN :lui: :lui:
"I'm honored" was his response, he is sure that Ajax will do well this season and this is a group that can only grow more.

I'm planning on eventually going to see an Ajax Home game in mid-November (before or after the Holland-England friendly)

Is the fixture list already out ?
what is the best & cheapest way to get a ticket ?

Zlatan
15-07-2006, 01:15:PM
Last year there was often a free sell of tickets(no Club Card obligations) for matches against rather lower opponents. You could just buy a ticket at the stadium.
You will never get in to the top-matches though I think(PSV, Feyenoord and AZ). But I give you a good chance against clubs like Excelsior and stuff.

BenBeckham
15-07-2006, 01:32:PM
cheers Zlatan :ewan:

so hopefully +/- 3 days around 15 November they will have a home game against a less crowd pulling side.

What's the capacity of the Stadium and appart from the "big 3" sellouts what the average crowd ?

Silencer
15-07-2006, 03:22:PM
Well here are the fixtures for november so pick one (Y)
Obviously PSV is a no go (sold out every time for cardholders and seasonticket holders) so the only possibillity to go to a homegame in november will be FC Twente. Not sure if you can get tickets for that but it's worth to try.

05/11 - Heracles Almelo - Ajax
12/11 - Ajax - PSV
19/11 - Ajax - FC Twente
26/11 - Sparta - Ajax

The stadium capacity is 51.628 seats and the average crowd when Ajax is not playing the top 3 is about 48.000 people.
You can buy a shirt at the Ajax fanshop next to the stadium if you like and be sure to check out World of Ajax (museum) when your there and to drink a beer at 'soccerworld' this is a pub at the stadium and the owners are Frank and Ronald de Boer, Danny Blind and Aaron Winter :)

Good luck anyway, I will be there with my seasonticket of course :p

THE HUNTER scored twice again and he started on the bench :o

0-1 De Mul
0-2 Stam
0-3 Charisteas
0-4 Rosales

0-7 Huntelaar
0-8 Sarpong

The team against Bennekom:

30. Dennis Gentenaar
3. Jaap Stam
5. Urby Emanuelson
11. Kenneth Perez
14. Roger
16. Tom De Mul
23. Emmanuel Boakye
24. Robbert Schilder
26. Edgar Manucharyan

So the Italian verdict is out, there are rumours about Vieira and Ajax, I pretty much here them everyday, what do you guys think of Vieira in an Ajax shirt?

Zlatan
15-07-2006, 04:48:PM
If that would happen, I'd go dance naked on de Dam.
But no that won't happen mate. He's one of the best midfielders in the world, not only on footballing quality but also on salary.

"Viera? He said it's too hot for him in Holland.' is what Ten Cate said about it. So no sorry. :)

Don't agree with that, Vieira is an asset for any team but for now it's nothing but rumours. The board said Vieira is interested in joining Ajax for a year or two but then he wants to return to Juve when they are back in Seria A.
We'll see how it develops but I know that there are many more clubs interested in signing him.

Damn, let's quickly forget this guys it reminded me of last season. Spakenburg beats us 3-2.

Ok well enough with that. Next match is Dennis' testimonial at the Emirates, looking very much forward to it, it's gonna be broadcasted live by Studio Sport here.

Still losing against Spakenburg WTF :boohoo: :nape: man I'm really pissed about that loss. How is this possible with a team like ours?? :o
Hat's off to Spakenburg though and those 010 cockroa.. must be laughing their asses off but they won't laugh anymore when Kuyt goes to Liverpool in the coming days

EDIT: I've just read that there weren't any Internationals playing in the team and that we were playing with a B-team. A few players from Spakenburg were former pro players so it's not that strange.
More strange is the fact that de Mul and Schilder were the scorers and KJH was not even on the scoresheet :o
The guys from the 2nd team played tonight, this weekend against Arsenal we'll see our strongest team on the pitch with Rosenberg, Sneijder, Stekelenburg, Maduro, Babel back (Y)

You signed a young Chinese(or half Chinese) Canadian named Matt Lam. Can you provide updates on him since he's playing for your U19 team.

Local player impresses his way from fan to farm team
Ajax opens its doors to teen

Published: Thursday, July 13, 2006
EDMONTON - There's going overseas to play soccer, and then there's going overseas to play soccer for your family's favourite team.

Matt Lam can claim the latter as he prepares to fly to Amsterdam alongside one very proud grandmother and join Ajax. She will be moving back to her home country with her 16-year-old grandson to purchase a home and help him adjust to life in pursuit of a dream in a foreign country.

"It's great. I'm just really excited to get over there and start playing right away," said Lam, who leaves Edmonton July 27, and joins one of the powerhouse Dutch club's youth teams Aug. 1.

"They just said I could fit in with the Under-19s when I'm there, so they're just going to put me in right there."

Lam's grandparents on his mother's side are direct from Amsterdam, the heart of Ajax country. So he grew up clad in the team's red and white, followed any televised games he could and even got to drop in to watch a live match while on a vacation in Holland a few years ago.

Now to enter their developmental system? It's much more than he figured possible before he first caught the eyes of talent scouts overseas with a tryout for Middlesbrough, an English Premiership team, last year.

"After I went to England, I kind of used this status to bring myself closer to home and my agent helped me get a trial with Ajax," said Lam. "It was a dream come true because that's my family's club, we're big Ajax fans. So I just went over and tried out there."

Agent Edmund Chu used his contacts overseas to fly Lam out at the beginning of May and have him spend two months training and playing with the Ajax Under-17 team. Despite separating his shoulder twice during the try out and having to fly home for surgery and rehab of the recurring injury, he impressed team officials enough to get invited back.

"I felt pretty confident actually," said Lam. "The first day I was already put into a game situation and it just felt very comfortable. The pace of the game over there is so much higher, so that is a pretty big jump from here to there, but I thought I coped with it pretty well."

Upon his return to Holland, Lam will be slotted in with the Under-19 team, just two steps removed from the first team. It's unusual for Ajax to recruit foreign players, preferring to develop local products, but something caught their eye with Lam. Now he already has the full team kit of training gear and a dream of playing in the 52,000-capacity Amsterdam Arena, where he got to see the wild atmosphere of a game on a previous visit.

"Just being in the crowd with all the fanatic fans, it was just an amazing experience," said Lam, a five-foot-10 midfielder who starred for the Edmonton Juventus Under-16 team last year.

He turns 17 in September and will begin hashing out a formal contract with the team at that time.

Young RKC will be our opponent in the Gatorade Cup in august, not a bad draw :p For the first time in the history of the cup, the topteams have to play the games in the first rounds :o I think it's ridiculous cause we play qualificationgames for the Champions League as well around that date :nape:
Ah well should be an easy win :amika:

The testimonial for Dennis was awesome and who scored the first goal in the Emirates Stadium, not Arsenal but KLAAS-JAN HUNTELAAR :amika:
During half time it was 1-0 to us and we deserved it, man we played good football against Arsenal.
Manucharyan showed what a great player he is finally after all those injuries he played on the left hand side when he came on the pitch for Perez.

Jaap Stam is our lock and key in the back what an awesome defender I'm so happy he signed for us (Y)
Ogararu was impressive when he came on the pitch, he is fast and cunning, outplayed the midfield easily from Arsenal and has a good kick. We are going to enjoy to see him play in de ArenA.
Great to see Markus back and Vermaelen who was injured for a while.
Strangely enough I didn't see Charisteas?? :o

And then the 2nd half with the Ajax legends:
The team:
Aaron Winter, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Bryan Roy, STEFAN PETTERSON!! awesome to see him back! Jan Wouters, Frank Rijkaard, Edgar Davids (yes there he was in our shirt), JOHAN CRUYFF played! Marco van Basten had some great moves and almost scored :amika: van der Sar on goal in the 2nd half and later Menzo (who stopped a shot from Dennis and he appologised for that lol :p Danny Blind was injured (too bad), Wim Jonk was there.

On the other side with Arsenal legends: MARC OVERMARS (and he still has it), Gio, Winterburn, Ian Wright, Emanuelle Petit, David Seaman, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry, Ray Parlour, Lee Dixon, Nwankwo Kanu (who scored for Arsenal), Glenn Helder.

I loved every minute of the game and especially cause we outplayed Arsenal in the first half :lui:
A day to remember THANK YOU DENNIS = LEGEND

Fast and cunning are only two of his qualities, wait till you see his skill on the ball, he's got amazing technique for a defender. Glad to hear he did well (Y)

It would be great if you could keep me updated of his performances as the season progresses :)

I can only hope that the game will be shown here in USA, but really nice that some legends play at the game (talking about ajax). I would have like to see Patrick Kluivert, the Laudrups, Jari Litmanen and Richard Witschge. But that's just me... anyway i saw some footage and looked great.

DENNIS BERGKAMP = ajax, inter, arsenal and dutch LEGEND

I will keep you posted about his progress Steaua ;)
And I agree Dannyeli, Kluivert is definitely an Ajaxlegend but he is still injured I think. He was the one who scored the only goal in the CL final against Milan in 1995 so normally he deserved his place in the legend line-up.
It was great to see Edgar in our colors again anyways and to see Maro almost scoring when the whole stadium went aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwww so beautiful (Y)

Yes he could be a great player, he is still very young but I think he is a great prospect for Manchester United one day on midfield.
He was the captain of Oranje under 21 a few years back and was tremendous there. He scores goals too has a great distance shot.

First win against a Proteam today (Y)

Well done lads 6-0 victory :) against Emmen from the Jupiler League.

First goal was a freekick from Sneijder that was touched by Rosales so he got the goal.
Second goal was Sneijder with a great assist from Markus :p
Third goal was a cornerkick from Sneijder and scored by Vermaelen
Fourth goal was from Schilder
Fifth goal was an assist from Stekelenburg!! He shot the ball from his goal all the way to the front, the ball was picked up by Vertonghen and he scored
Sixth goal of course: KLAAS-JAN HUNTELAAR who came on the pitch for Rosenberg.

So all in all a good win and Sneijder is in hot form guys!

More news: Henk Ten Cate told today that Charisteas can leave the club in search for another club :( I don't like this decision, he says Harry is his fifth striker cause he chooses other strikers before him. Of course Huntelaar,Rosenberg, Babel and get this POEPON.
I cannot believe that he is choosing Poepon over Charisteas :kader: :boohoo:
What the hell is he thinking! His first wrong decision this season.
Harry is 100% Ajacied and I really hate the fact that he might be leaving now and I bet HTC did not hear the last about this decision from the fans :nape:

Schilder and Vertonghen are staying in the first squad is the other news, now that is good cause those 2 are great talents at the moment.
HTC want to loan out Boakye to another club to grow more.

Did Ogararu play at all?

Silencer
26-07-2006, 07:42:AM
Yes he did play almost all games in the preliminary rounds, he also had some playingtime in the testimonial for Dennis Bergkamp last saturday.
Not much to report though, the team is getting stronger and the teamspirit is high. He said he felt happy to play for us and that he enjoyed the atmosphere at the club and in the team and he feels that the team is growing every day :) Don't worry he will be a big part of the coming successes for Ajax and I will keep you guys posted about him ;)
