So, yeah. WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE SAY WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!

Now that I got that off my chest, we've been linked with some right dross. Terry Brown has said we have about 20 million, but he didn't say "20 million to spend", so it's probably more like 7-8 million on transfers and another 7-8 for wages, agent's fees etc.

We're apparently talking with Kelvin Davis of Ipswich, whom I would be very happy to get, also Mawene from Preston and Sidwell + Shorey from Reading.

Stay tuned for another 100 or so posts of me talking to myself (and possibly kangle4), and COME ON YOU IRONS!

I remember getting him on CM0304, I was so proud of finding a gem.

Captain Fantastic  He was magic in the playoff final, he must have covered every inch of the ground 10 times over.

And Rob - Henry and Stevie G make a mockery of that statement in England, never mind Europe.

19 goals, 31 assists. Thats 50 goals Lamps has been involved in this season and that doesn't even highlight the defensive presence the man is.

140+ EPL games in a row, he is a work horse, is a team man and is the best :)

he's better than frank lampard (8)

:nape: lampard has been better over the past year.

anyway, west ham have had a great youth system over the years, and they need to stay in the premiership so they don't risk losing upcoming talent. i'd rather take the gamble and buy 4 or 5 premiership quality players.

as for sheringham, it's a tough decision for him. either retire when he's helped to get west ham back to the premiership, or try to help keep them in it next season.

he's agreed to stay another year - he'll be 40 :o

it's good to see Bobby Zamora doing well, he was a legend at Brighton.

What are Sheringham's plans? Is he hanging the boots up or giving the top flight another shot?

From what was said post-match by Chairman 2-Bob Terry "The Devil Incarnate" Brown, Teddy will probably stay another year. It's a decision I like, because Sheringham seems to have been crucial in the improvement of our young players and those who lost conifdence, ie Bobby Zamora. He'll only be a bit part player, but his mentoring role will be invaluable.

As for Fat Frank, let's keep it on topic gents - my final thoughts on the subject are that I hope he dies a slow and painful death. Possibly by being overfed canned spaghetti, Se7en-stylee.

Mind telling me why he's so hated at West Ham? What did he do to anger the Hammer fans?

The reason we signed him in the first place was nepotism, his Uncle Harry Redknapp was manager with his dad, Frank Snr, as assistant. And he was SH*T. And then he got better. And then Chelsea bought him for a seemingly astronomical 8 million quid. And then West Ham sacked Harry for being a crooked c*nt, and Franky Snr left. And then Lampard, who comes from a West Ham family, c*nted off the club about having sh*t fans and poor training regimes (funnily enough, implemented by his uncle and father).

So in a nutshell, we gave him a chance when we shouldn't have, he left and slagged us off, then he became world class, which makes us hate him even more. At least Jimmy Walker saved that penalty.

I know many Chelseaites are psyched about the return of the district-line-derby, and many were very complimentary of WHU's effort in getting up. I think you were the favorite Championship squad of many, and so you may have alot of people rooting for the Hammers this year. Now, about a refund for Glen Johnson......

The Repka situation is an interesting one - he was always going to go, then all of a sudden it seems to have turned around. As much as I love the geezer, he's a liability. As for Super Glen, can we have him on a season-long loan, please? And I can't wait to play Chelsea, I only wish we still had Di Canio to rip you apart. 2-3 and 1-0, we went down and still did the double over you!

How good was the Celtic Club mate?

Yeah Ian Harte is utter utter sh*te, watched him play a couple of games for Levante this year and he is cack.

A couple of signings (prospective) I am excited about are Steve Sidwell from Reading and Andrea Caracciolo from Brescia. I know Sidwell has the potential to be fantastic, it's just a question of how Madejski would take selling players to Paaaaaaaaaaardew. As for Caracciolo, can anyone shed any light on him? I heard he's on the brink of playing for the Azurri and scored 12 goals in a relegation season - no mean feat IMO.

I echo your feelings for Chelski. Especially with the Cole 'tapping up' saga going on.

For the record...Harry Redknapp and Frank Lampard Sr. were sacked before Frank Lampard Jr. was sold to Chelsea.

It's sad to think about how good of a team the Hammers could have had.

Defoe
J. Cole
Rio
Frankie
Glen Johnson
Kanoute
Carrick
Calamity James
Trevor Sinclair

Had they stayed up, and kept those players...they'd have a solid squad.

Apparently Sidwell and Nicky Shorey (good young LB) are on their way from Reading (Y)

No word thus far on Walker, he'd be looking at coming back next year from what I saw..

As far as the squad West Ham could have had, you're right, but the hours and days I've wasted thinking wistfully about that squad means I try not to think about it any more. And about Lampard's sale, you're right of course.

If you live in New Jersey, and you're a Juve fan...how do you watch the Serie A games? Is there some kind of Direct TV or Dish Network package that includes Serie A?

I think you're crazy for not watching the EPL, that's all I watch. Oh well, to each his own. :)

Concerning possible keepers for West Ham, they'd be stupid to sign Barthez and even stupider (if that's a word) if they signed Carroll.

And apparently some other newspaper is quoting him as saying he wants to go to the Premiership. As long as a fair proportion of his wages are paid, or he takes a huge pay cut if we sign him permanently (unlikely) I'll be reasonably happy with this transfer.

The only problem is whether or not he'll want to get stuck in for a club he probably knows bugger all about, and won't be at next year.

I'll bet that if you dangled a few million Boro's way, they would part with Marko Viduka as he seems to draw the ire of all their fans...but I guess that all depends on your interpretation of the word "decent". http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/4159424.stm

West Ham clinch Bellion loan deal

West Ham have taken Manchester United's David Bellion on a year-long loan.

The 22-year-old is still some way from fitness, having not played first-team football since January.

"He can break a deadlock with his pace as he is without question one of the quickest players in the Premiership," boss Alan Pardew told the club website.

Any reactions?

100 million? Wow. This team, in my opinion, is already good enough to stay in the top flight, but with a spending spree like that, and the money the guy would bring with him permanently, this team could be like instantly trasnformed in a top 7 side in England. Plus a virtual guarantee of playing on a premiership team, as well as the ability to pay handsomely would definately make all the young talent your academy churns out willing to stay with the hammers.

Congrats if this happens (Y) This guy seems for real

My take on a few points:

Reo Coker is finally beginning to really fullfil his potential, and more power to him. Bellion is cover, clearly, if he gets more than 10 minutes at the end of games then I will be ropeable. As for Joorabchian, I am still enormously sceptical, especially as he keeps referring to the take over as his "West Ham project". **** projects, that's my football club. Apparently we've been slapped with a transfer ban which has since been rescinded as companies who are the subject of a prospective takeover are not allowed to spend "large amounts of money". Thus we can't spend 6 million on Dean Ashton (a move which has supposedly been rebuffed due to the ban).

4 points from the first 2 games - 36 draws and safety, please.

Oh, it's good ol' Kia Joorabchian, "owner" of Corinthians here in Brazil. So now he wants to take West Ham aswell huh? I wonder where he's getting all those money. I mean, he spent a ****load on Tevez and Carlos Alberto, then he got Roger, then Seba Dominguez, Marinho, Mascherano, and it looks like Nilmar is a done deal. I reckon it's all good signings (you may argue about Roger but here he can cut it).

But spending on 2 clubs, well, i can see him giving up on Corinthians in the coming future then. Guess he got bored. He can surely bring good players, but i think it's risky. I still dont trust that guy, despite Corinthians doing well in all fronts atm.

Yeah, I agree with Grunger. No one know where MSI get all that money (there are Berezovsky links, but I'm not sure of that), but the supporters don't seem to care. If the club is doing well, it's fine. Also, MSI seems to prefer foreign transfers... maybe to avoid the money going through close inspection from the brazilian central bank?

I love Benayoun, to be honest I knew very little about him before he came to West Ham, and when I first saw him I was like, "that guy isn't a football player, he's a ******* leukemia survivor", I mean he looks seriously ill. But his class has shone through, he makes great runs, incisive passes and best of all, he chases and harries and tackles as though his life depends on it. It's only a shame we don't have a decent right winger cos if he was tucked in behind the strikers, he'd be amazing.

Etherington has looked a little out of his depth IMO in the Premiership, I was watching some of our footage from last year and he was virtually our only avenue to goal (another reason why Yossi is so important). His main problem is that pace alone won't cut the mustard at the top level, which is how he burnt so many hack defenders in the Championship. He'll come good, I think, but it will take time.

As for Anton, how bout naw? We'll keep him until Rio turns about 31 and feels he's bled Glazer dry for long enough, and that it's time to come home. Ferdinand-Ferdinand >>>>>>>>>> Neville-Neville.

Yah, what a win for the Hammers. I know its a bit early to count the chickens and all that, but when you run over a midtable side like its nothing, its hard to see a team like that being relegated again. (Y)

Could be a sweet ass year if they manage to stay up and Kia Joorichianbiyankistan buys the team: I honestly think the guy is for real, and even if he was using West Ham as an investment opportunity, he would have to make the club good on the pitch to make any significant flow (C)

The Fulham/West Ham game was one of three games yesterday which were real good old fasioned fast, end to end premiership games.

For a team like West Ham with one prirority to stay up it would have easy to play 9 behind the ball and sit on the lead.

Freak injury rules out Hammers keeper Carroll

West Ham goalkeeper Roy Carroll has been ruled out of Sunday's Premiership clash with Middlesbrough after injuring his knee in a freak training-ground accident.

The Northern Ireland international was collecting balls from a goal when his foot was caught in the net, leading to the problem and giving Shaka Hislop his first start of the season following his return to Upton Park from Portsmouth in the summer.

Stephen Bywater has also been recalled from his loan spell at Coventry as cover for Hislop, while at the other end of the pitch Jeremie Aliadiere will not be in the squad as the on-loan Arsenal forward, continues his recovery from a hernia operation.

Teddy with excellent finishing just seconds after coming on. The second goal was an absurd decision by the linesman who given that goal. West Ham should have kept the clean sheet.

The Hammers are looking strong this season, I hope that you guys have a very successful season. With a bit of good form and fortune, I wouldn’t rule them out of qualifying for the UEFA Cup.

anyway things r looking good in the league and fa cup at that moment

also maybe got gabri from barcelona to come and play as right back, has apparently been at the club for contract talks and a medical and was going to join but apparently barcelona now want him to stay as they got an injury which would be dissapointing.

this fa cup run just feels right for some reason.

i reckon we'll make the final for sure and win or lose we will make europe for next year.

after relegation a few seasons ago this is all making it worth it as i feel we have a better squad and manager now than we did back then.

Intro:

So near, and yet so very far. West Ham came so close on Saturday to beating European Champions Liverpool, if not for a strike seemingly from the gods themselves by a certain Steven Gerrard. However, in a match where Pardew’s men were expected to be “hammered”, they put in a performance worthy of any team from England’s top division, nearly, oh so nearly quelling a Liverpool team that had just won their last eleven games. So really Mr Pardew, it hasn’t exactly been a terrible season…

Last year's thread was so amazy.

This year's thread much more doom and gloom.

We've been down for ages, you can't lose to Watford and Charlton and expect to stay up.

Deisler
21-03-2007, 06:56:AM
But seriosly mate, what are our chances of keeping the best players if we (Actually it's almost certain) are to be relegated man? I really hope the new presidency does bring together a team that would be able to dominate Division one. All we need to do is buy 3-4 players that are nice enought to be solid in that division. I hope something special comes out of the academy as well.

Call me crazy but we were so much better before the 2 argies came. I wish we never signed them.

hermolt
21-03-2007, 05:14:PM
It wasn't the two Argies, it was the cancer involved at the club.

Pardew's dalliance with a player's wife, said player sold.
Bling clique formed and excluding others.
Captain throwing a strop at decent players coming in and challenging his fiefdom.
Gambling culture (paying off Etherington's gambling debts twice, Teddy raping other players in the card school).
Pardew losing the dressing room.
Brown attempting to grease his palms one last time when trying to sell to Joorabchian.
Anton charged with GBH.
Anton lying to club about visiting his granny.
Curbishley being dull, unimaginative and a twat.

It's been an annus horribilus, and the Argies have contributed nothing towards that, aside from the dodgy deal which brought them there (blame that treacherous leech Brown). I'd suck Carlitos' schlong, imagine how f**ked we'd be without him.

Not too late at all mate. That was a great win at Arsenal. West ham have broken Arsenal's "unbeaten at the Emirates" boast, and nicked 3 important points. More of the same and West Ham can still survive. Its a slim chance but not impossible.

We don't play Liverpool again.

We're still struggling, but it was a good win. Anyone notice this is actually last year's thread? Anyway.

LAST TEAM AT HIGHBURY
FIRST TEAM AT THE EMIRATES
4 MEETINGS - 10 POINTS
5 FOR 2 AGAINST

That's in capitals because I'm excited about it, and I hope Arsene Wenger gets AIDS.
