Oz_Leeds_Fan 01-06-2005, 09:36:AM It'll be good for Australia to play agaisnt some quality opposistion like Argentina and Germany. I dont expect them to get throught the group phase but if they do it'd be bloody great to see them agaisnt Brazil!!! we'd get thumped but it would be an experiance for the lads :)
Joe Star 01-06-2005, 03:47:PM umm just out of curiosity.......how do teams qualify for the confederations cup? Or are they always the same?
jimorrizon 01-06-2005, 04:11:PM i cant wait for this match:19-Jun-05 Hanover Mexico – Brazil 20:45
Brazil with most of its cracks or elite players VS Mexico's Best Players....
kingmonkey 01-06-2005, 04:30:PM umm just out of curiosity.......how do teams qualify for the confederations cup? Or are they always the same?
I think it's the Champions of each confederation, plus the World Champions, plus the hosts and one invited nation.
newbie original 01-06-2005, 04:31:PM Any idea on the squads?
Bobby 01-06-2005, 09:44:PM Mexico has to do like 3 things.
Gold Cup
This crappy cup
and WC Qualifying.
How are they going to pull that off?
ronnifan9 01-06-2005, 09:54:PM Mexico has to do like 3 things.
Gold Cup
This crappy cup
and WC Qualifying.
How are they going to pull that off? They're soldiers. :lui:
They should only play in the Gold Cup...Qualifying is pretty much done. Players like Salcido, Lozano, Fonseca are gonna gain a lot of experience by playing in these cups, but I'm afraid LaVolpe will tire them out...hopefully they get a break so they can prepare for the WC.
Mexico 3-1 Japan
Mexico 2-1 Greece
Mexico 1-1 Brazil

Kibe Kru 02-06-2005, 02:26:AM Any idea on the squads?
Brazil:
GK: Dida (Milan)
Marcos (Palmeiras)
Gomes (PSV)
Defenders:
Juan (Bayer Leverkusen)
Lúcio (Bayern de Munique)
Luisão (Benfica) - probably won't play, Anderson (Corinthians) was called up?
Roque Júnior (Bayer Leverkusen)
Fullbacks:
Cicinho (São Paulo)
Belletti (Barcelona)
Léo (Santos)
Gilberto (Hertha Berlin)
Midfielders:
Emerson (Juventus)
Gilberto Silva (Arsenal)
Zé Roberto (Bayern de Munique)
Juninho Pernambucano (Lyon)
Renato (Sevilla)
Kaká (Milan)
Ronaldinho (Barcelona)
Alex (Fenerbahce)
Attackers:
Ronaldo (Real Madrid) - won't play, Grafite (Sao Paulo) was called up
Adriano (Inter de Milão)
Robinho (Santos)
Ricardo Oliveira (Betis)
Germany:
GK: Kahn, Lehmann, Hildebrand
Def: Friedrich, Hinkel, Huth, Mertesacker, Owomoyela, Schulz
Mid: Ballack, Borowski, Deisler, Ernst, Frings, Hamann (won't play, injured), Hitzlsperger, Schneider, Schweinsteiger
Att: Asamoah, Hanke, Klose, Kuranyi, Podolski
Bobby 02-06-2005, 02:31:AM Explain.
The reason he doesn't play in the US is because some mexican in dallas wants to take him to court.
Internazionale 02-06-2005, 10:44:AM This tourney shouldn't exist anymore.
Pathetic FIFA !
SuRFy 02-06-2005, 11:15:AM Just because you lost to Australia......
SiCkFeSt^ 02-06-2005, 11:32:AM Its stupid, especially since argentina and brazil are taking there best players which leaves Inter in a bad position for the Coppa Italia, atleast brazil have allowed Adriano to play the first leg
Limberopoulos21 03-06-2005, 01:22:AM I think it's pointless, another world cup but less glorious. And recently people are talking about player fatigue, to me one quality tourny is better than 10 of them with teams not giving it their all.
WilliamFAlmeida 03-06-2005, 08:17:AM I think its a great idea that Brasil bring their A squad - R9
It it great preparation for the world cup next year which will be held in Germany.
Brasil better win this, and if they dont, they'll have A LOT to learn from it.
To get in this tournament you have to win in your continent, or WC or be host.
SuRFy 03-06-2005, 09:46:AM Yeah, well it should be a good tournament, looking forward how Australia is going to go, we are not the same Australia you seen last. :)
NGAFOOTBALLKING 03-06-2005, 02:08:PM Tunisia got and beat nigeria on pks. If they didnt win then Nigeria would be here not lame Tunisia.:kader: :nape: :kader:
Internazionale 03-06-2005, 02:28:PM Just because you lost to Australia......
That's not a reason behind it. I know Australia are much better than Indonesia. I don't give a sh!t if Indonesia could qualify for the WC.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
You should have known for what happened in the past in the Confed Cup.
SB9Dragon 04-06-2005, 04:44:AM Aside from the fact that this tournament rapes Inter of it's best players  I must say I'm a little excited to see some National team action, especially Brazil.
SuRFy 04-06-2005, 06:31:AM And Australia !!! :D
Internazionale 04-06-2005, 11:11:AM ESPN Star Sports have exclusive live coverage on this tourney !
I'll probably see this one.
SuRFy 04-06-2005, 11:16:AM Kewell forced to pull out
Harry Kewell has been officially ruled out of the Australia squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup Germany 2005 after he underwent surgery to repair a torn groin muscle.
Kewell, who has been struggling for fitness over the past 12 months, was substituted after just 23 minutes of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League final victory over AC Milan after aggravating the injury. The 26-year-old is expected to still be on the sidelines when Rafael Benitez’s squad return for pre-season training on Monday 27 June.
"Hopefully with the operation completed I can put all this injury business behind me,” said Kewell. “Wednesday night in Turkey was the highlight of my career and also the worst nightmare of my career, it's all mixed in two inside my head. Rafael Benitez showed a lot of faith in me by picking me from the start because he had other options. It was great for me until the injury. I stretched for a ball and my groin snapped. I couldn't do anything about it.
"Now it's not going to be a great summer with all the rehabilitation but it's been like that for the last six months. But if you'd said to me six months ago that I was going to pull my groin in the European Cup final and I would end up with a winner’s medal I'd have taken that.”
Australian team physio Les Gelis visited Kewell on Merseyside and is confident that the operation has solved his problems. "The surgery has been a success," he said. "People have underestimated how hard Harry worked just to be in a position to be able to play but it was just a matter of time until the tendon snapped.
"There was no way he could have played on. It's a problem that has been around for a year and the groin just kept getting tighter and tighter and then it had enough and snapped. He's had the surgery on Friday and it went well so now there is a six-week rehabilitation program to implement.
"Harry's disappointed that he is missing the Confederations Cup but he realises that it is more important that he gets his injuries fixed and has a strong pre-season. That way he can be a key part of Liverpool's team for next season and be in good shape for Australia's World Cup qualifiers."
Australia coach Frank Farina :kader: will name his squad for the FIFA Confederations Cup next week before the Socceroos’ final warm-up game against New Zealand at Craven Cottage on Thursday 9 June.

Confeds teams gear for Cup
The Confederations Cup promises to be much more than just a technical rehearsal for the World Cup, with Argentina and Brazil among the eight teams preparing for two weeks of pressure-free football in five venues across Germany.
For Germany, the 2006 World Cup host, getting the organisational details right will of course be the priority, as Frankfurt, Leipzig, Hanover, Nuremberg and Cologne prepare to stage a total of 16 matches from June 15 to 29.
The competition itself though will be a tough one to win and whoever does emerge as champions will have earned their accolade the hard way.
As well as featuring the German hosts and Brazil, the world champions, it is also a showcase for the talents of the champions of all of FIFA's six confederations plus Argentina, who enter as Olympic champions.
FIFA are billing the event as a "Festival of Champions" and that should sum up the mood of the event. The pressure may be off, but there is still serious work to be done.
Germany, drawn in Group A with Argentina, Australia and Tunisia, will also have a duty to get things right on the field, with the onus on coach Jurgen Klinsmann to show fans that a home triumph next year is possible.
For the rest of the teams there were will be little of the customary fear of failure, while a first prize of 2.28 million euro ($A3.64 million), as well as a world stage on which to perform, should provide an incentive.
Japan and Argentina can look forward to a particularly relaxing two weeks after booking places at the World Cup in this week's qualifiers.
Japan, who line up in Group B with Greece, Mexico and Brazil, secured a place in their third consecutive World Cup finals with a 2-0 win over North Korea on Wednesday.
Argentina made certain of their participation with a 3-1 win over world champions Brazil.
Brazil, the only country to have played at all 17 World Cups, are still pretty sure of maintaining their proud record, with only three points needed from their last three games to be mathematically sure of qualifying.
Brazil will arrive in Germany without Ronaldo, who has been excused on grounds of tiredness, but there remains the prospect of seeing World Player of the Year Ronaldinho teaming up with Adriano, Kaka and the heralded Robinho.
Greece, the surprise European champions, face a tougher job in qualifying for the World Cup after losing to Ukraine in midweek but their German coach Otto Rehhagel will enjoy being back on home ground.
Australia, who have not qualified for a World Cup since the finals were last in Germany in 1974, will also look to impress at a competition that has been kind to them in the past.
The Oceania representatives reached the 1997 final against Brazil - albeit in a match they lost 6-0 - then defeated both France and Brazil to finish third in 2001.
However the Socceroos will need to improve greatly on an unimpressive performance in London on Thursday when they struggled to beat old rivals New Zealand 1-0 in a fiercely-contested friendly.
Every team taking part will have one eye on the World Cup next year though the Confederations Cup will provide plenty of drama of its own.
It will hopefully be completed without a tragedy like the one that overshadowed the competition two years ago when Cameroonian Marc-Vivien Foe collapsed and died on the field during the second half of the semi-final against Colombia.
Oz_Leeds_Fan 10-06-2005, 02:21:PM Hehehe we are so damned screwed in this cup! :fool:
We manage to scrape a 1-0 win over New Zealand and we have Germany next up....
I watched the first 30mins and went to bed, we were all over them but couldnt finish to save ourselves. And whats worse, we let NEW ZEALAND get a number of attacks on the counter.
We need to tighten up by a factor of 10 if we are to avoid a cricket score against Germany at this rate.
I have confidence that our boyz will give their best but with no Kewell, Grella, Bresciano and an unfit Viduka we are going to be hit hard i fear... :nape:
Axolote 10-06-2005, 09:46:PM Inter will have their argentine players, they will play the Copa Italia and the they will go to the Confederations Cup...
Im very excited about this tourney becouse its like a mini-WC, and it will be a chance to see how a national team responds in this kind of tournament, group stage and then direct elimination...
Besides its always great to have the chance to face Brazil...
Some might think its crap becouse their teams were a disaster in their Continental Cups...Italy, Spain, England, Holland, Portugal, Nigeria, Cameroon...
Some european players are more worry in filming comercial$$ than training...
I don't expect us to do very well in this tournament. :kader:
Brasil, imo, will win it. I don't like the team we are fielding.
I hope I am wrong though.
Argentina squad:
Goalkeepers: Leonardo Franco (Atletico Madrid, Spain), Wilfredo Caballero (Elche, Spain), German Lux (River Plate)
Defenders: Walter Samuel (Real Madrid, Spain), Javier Zanetti (Inter Milan, Italy), Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United, England), Gonzalo Rodriguez (Villarreal, Spain), Gabriel Milito (Real Zaragoza, Spain), Diego Placente (Bayern Leverkusen, Germany), Fabricio Coloccini (Deportivo Coruna, Spain), Martin Demichelis (Bayern Munich, Germany)
Midfielders: Juan Pablo Sorin (Villarreal, Spain), Esteban Cambiasso (Inter Milan, Italy), Juan Roman Riquelme (Villarreal, Spain), Pablo Aimar (Valencia, Spain), Lucas Bernardi (Monaco, France)
Forwards: Carlos Tevez (Corinthians, Brazil), Javier Saviola (Monaco, France), Cesar Delgado (Cruz Azul, Mexico), Mario Santana (Palermo, Italy), Maximiliano Rodriguez (Espanyol, Spain), Luciano Figueroa (Villarreal, Spain), Luciano Galletti (Real Zaragoza, Spain)
ottawaguy 13-06-2005, 03:44:AM What is all this talk about how the tournament is useless and shouldn't be played? As a fan I think it's awesome to see teams like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and others play against each other with their full strengh squads. It is obviously unfair to the players who have gone through a tough season, but I can't see why fans would be complaining.

Limberopoulos21 13-06-2005, 08:50:PM I don't see greece winning their first game against Brazil, were missing Zagorakis (team duties), Dellas, Kapsis and karagounis (all 3 injuries)(the best players on the team).
edit Zagorakis has been offlaoded from Bologna duties with the relegation play-off, meaning he's back in. But Vryzas goes out due to injury. So we might be in for a chance actually.

I agree..
For the amount of money these guys get paid to play a game, they should have to work 12 months out of the year like the rest of us.
ForzaNerrazurri 13-06-2005, 09:00:PM God, I hate this cup, who actually cares about this.
the teams that are participating? :|
I hope for my Nerazzurri boys to have a good tourney, especially Adriano, because he is missing our Coppa Italia final. Also for the Argentinians J. Zanetti, and Cambiasso
Limberopoulos21: According to Inter.it, Karagounis has joined up with the Greek squad, so maybe he will play
$teauA 13-06-2005, 09:01:PM EURO Winner: Greece

If I remember correctly that's how it was at the last one as well, South America had the winner and the runner-up in and France was in it along with Italy or something like that right? Univision Communications holds US Spanish-language TV rights to the FIFA Confederations Cup. Matches will air on Univision, TeleFutura, and Galavision.
Soccer United Marketing (SUM) holds US English-language TV rights. Matches will air on FOX Soccer Channel
ronnifan9 13-06-2005, 10:50:PM We're in it because we won the Olympics !!!
:) :ewan:I though it's because you finished 2nd in Copa America and that automatically got you in. ???
SB9Dragon 13-06-2005, 10:57:PM Wow, FSC is actually starting to impress me with all of these international matches. First the Youth Worldcup, Women's Worldcup, and now the Confederations Cup. They probably also own the rights to the Gold Cup as well. If only they could gain more rights to more leagues.
Raikkonen 13-06-2005, 11:01:PM We're in it because we won the Olympics !!!
wrong (H) you're there because Brazil won the WC and the Copa America, and Argentina took the "Copa America winner" spot because they were the runner-up team.
oops (6) :$
Those bastards made it sound like we were in it for the olympics. :boohoo:
Thanks for correcting me (H)
Kibe Kru 13-06-2005, 11:29:PM Brazil won the WC and the Copa America
Oops, Sorry!! :ewan:
Hehe just kidding... but Raikkonen is correct, Argentina got the Copa America place because Brazil were WC and SA champs
Fernandez 14-06-2005, 12:18:AM I think Heinze should be given a rest, although I think he will play for Argentina because he loves playing for Argentina. :)
As for the tournament, I'd expect Argentina to win it. They have players who can change the game. And there is the 'one' from the Red of Manchester. :jambo:
WilliamFAlmeida 14-06-2005, 01:06:AM Brasil the only team that realizes the importance of this cup?? ITs a year before the WC and its in GERMANY. Plus world class teams are in it.
I dont know about y'all but this is a grea prequel to the main event
Deisler 14-06-2005, 01:19:AM Brasil is a smart lazy team. You'll see brasilian players perform under their capacity the season be4 the world cup. That way they go to the WC healthy. The other nationals are tired as fvck because of the streched season. They are bringing all the good players in this competition to get familiar with the fields. Smart move.

You know it ain't an important tournament... else Ronaldo would want to play in it...
It's only important to the CBF, who needs victories to cover up the corruption in there... I've even heard that Ricardo Teixeira is good because he brought us titles :nape:
Anyways... as a viewer, I like the idea of putting some of the best teams in the world to play, but as a football lover I guess we could do well without it...
El Diablo Rojo 14-06-2005, 09:11:PM Brasil the only team that realizes the importance of this cup?? ITs a year before the WC and its in GERMANY. Plus world class teams are in it.

Nah, Pekerman is pretty interested on this cup.
Though the absences of Lucho González, Mascherano, Ayala and Crespo i think that Argentina has a decent team to make it through.
Probable lineup not 100% vs. Tunisia:
--------------Leo Franco
-
--G. Rodríguez---Coloccini---Heinze
-
-----Santana----Bernardi----Sorin
----------Aimar------Riquelme
-
---------Galetti--------Saviola
Interesting lineup with Aimar and Riquelme.:o
I want to see what Tevez can do in this tournament.
xxxFLYERxxx 14-06-2005, 09:38:PM I want to see what Tevez can do in this tournament.
Whats going on with andres d'alessandro? is he in the picture for the world cup?
El Diablo Rojo 14-06-2005, 09:40:PM In the first match he'll be in the bench it seems, if both Aimar and Riquelme play he can come in for either player if one gets tired, etc.
Kibe Kru 14-06-2005, 10:33:PM I'm hoping Tevez does well... even though it may mean he'll be unavailable for Corinthians...
He impressed a lot after coming to Brazil, not only because of his playing skills but also his personality... he's not the "I'm the best, get away from me" kind of person, is very humble and shows a lot of spirit for the team...
Hendrik 14-06-2005, 11:02:PM I still don't the like the idea of this Cup but somehow I'm looking forward to it. We usually don't get to see too many top quality games during this time of the year so why not. :ewan:
Let me post the German which Klinsmann will play.
------------------ Kahn (in the 1st game, then Lemon) -----------
-- Friedrich -- Huth -- Mertesacker -- Hitzlsperger
-- Deisler -- Frings -- Ballack -- Schweinsteiger
--------------- Podolski -- Kuranyi
It's gonna be pretty much an experiment as no players are above 28 except for the gk. All the LBs are out so we gotta play Hitz at LB, he's awful.
Fernandez 14-06-2005, 11:55:PM I guess Hitzlsperger can't hit those hammer shots unless he attacks. Those shots were breathtaking.
Farina is going to tinker.
Don't you love his timing? :rockman:
Seriously let me manage Australia, I will win the World Cup :rockman: :rockman: :rockman: :rockman:
Deisler 15-06-2005, 05:01:AM Hitz is so spaced out in the defence. And with news that Lahm will take at least 6 months to heal we are not in a very good shape. Tomorrow 3 pm Galavision will broadcast Deutschland - Australia. Can't wait. :)
El Diablo Rojo 15-06-2005, 05:08:AM Nevermind it seems that Pekerman now confirmed what will be the team.
-----------------Lux
-
-G. Rodríguez--Coloccini--Heinze

---------Galetti----Saviola
Aimar will be in the bench.
pullstones_jr 15-06-2005, 08:26:AM The Confederations Cup is a lame-ass excuse for a tournament which serves a dual purpose of 1. giving Sepp and the boys at FIFA some extra revenue, and more importantly, 2. to eat out of players' well deserved off-season rest. If you're a national coach who wants to try things out with some new players, well bully for you, but apart from that, this Cup is unnecessary
denrze 15-06-2005, 10:09:AM In NT team Hitzlspergers shots never even come clos to the goal. Nine of ten shots go anywhere but not in the goalies direction.
Asamoah didn't got called?
:nape:
denrze 15-06-2005, 10:19:AM He sits on the bench. Gerald played most games of any players in Germany this season (UI Cup, UEFA Cup, Bundesliga, NT, Cup Final..), so he needs some rest.
Nakamura 15-06-2005, 10:19:AM I really like this cup. I only wish it was taken more seriously! I think it's a great idea to put the teams that won the continental titles facing each other. I'm looking forward not only to the games of the big names but also to the ones from teams like Mexico and Japan. We had some very good matches in the 2003 edition.
The only problem is that this isn't the best time to have this tournament, but anyway I can't see another alternative.
He sits on the bench. Gerald played most games of any players in Germany this season (UI Cup, UEFA Cup, Bundesliga, NT, Cup Final..), so he needs some rest.
Thanks for the info (Y)
I know he played a lot, but I thought he will play in the Confederations Cup too.
Anyway, he deserves the rest!
ufojeremy 15-06-2005, 10:42:AM Any perdiction game here??
Deisler 15-06-2005, 05:15:PM Argentina had a horrible start so far and Tunisia missed a penalty as well :|
penal !!!!
for ARGENTINA
Vamos Riquelme !!!
.
.
.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL
RIQUELME!!!!!
Argentina 1 - 0 Tunisia
ufojeremy 15-06-2005, 05:28:PM I think it is a diving!!!!
Why this is a penalty??
It wasn''t diving, just a terrible call, imo ;)
Argentina is finishing like trash. :kader:
Bring in Pablito, I want to see if he can play with Riquelme.
Also Galletti is terrible.
Drvar 15-06-2005, 05:43:PM argentina's defence needs to grow a pair of balls, because its just a pain to watch what they're doing now. the attack is very good, i mean fluent and all, but its a shame the pussies in the backline have to pass it around for half an hour before they pass it forward.
Becks is God 15-06-2005, 06:03:PM is it on TV in England?
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL
Javier SAVIOLA !!!
2-0
nice counter-attack goal
Deisler 15-06-2005, 06:11:PM 2-0 \Saviola
Deisler 15-06-2005, 06:14:PM Tevez for Saviola.
When will Argentina have a GK that you can rely on and won't make stpid mistakes.
This is my bigest concern for the upcoming World Cup. :kader:
Just when I say that he gives up another penalty.
Though it was a dive. :kader:
goal, Tunisia
2-1
Deisler 15-06-2005, 06:21:PM 2-1
Lux is horrible. Is sad to see a great team strugling because of their low class keeper. :nape:
VanTheMan 15-06-2005, 06:43:PM saviola has had a terrible game until that goal
Keemo 15-06-2005, 06:45:PM What channel is Japan/Mexico on in US?
2-1
We played like sh*t like I expected, but the result is what matters (Y)
I really hope that Hernan Crespo doesn't get injured before the World Cup. I might commit suicide if he does because I do not want to see Galletti and Maxi Rodriguez anywhere, I can't stand them playing.
Also, we need a f*ckin' keeper. Lux is a great shot-stopper but he showed he can make mistakes and don't get me started on El Pato Abondanzierri :nape:
Luckily, this is what this tournament is for, to test things out.
El Diablo Rojo 15-06-2005, 06:47:PM argentina's defence needs to grow a pair of balls, because its just a pain to watch what they're doing now. the attack is very good, i mean fluent and all, but its a shame the pussies in the backline have to pass it around for half an hour before they pass it forward.
Gotta blame Tunisia for that, leaving all the 11 players in their field.:kader:
It wasn't that bad to be the first match considering that players like Zanetti and Cambiasso weren't in. Honestly i think both Maxi Rodríguez and Gonzalo Rodríguez played terrible and the second penalty for Tunisia was a dive. I don't think Argentina had a horrible start considering they were dominating then suddenly they got the penalty. Sorin, Riquelme, Heinze and Coloccini played good as usual and also good match of Santana and sorta good of Bernardi who barely didn't get to play in the national team.
fender 15-06-2005, 06:53:PM Whatever happened to Pablo Cavallero he was a good solid keeper. Even though the second penalty was a blatant dive, Lux is horrible. Based on today's performace he is a Barthez in the making.
I would have won money had Argentina not conceded that goal. :f***: :boohoo:
El Diablo Rojo 15-06-2005, 06:57:PM Cavallero wasn't called anymore after the Copa América, the 3 keepers are Leo Franco, Lux and Wilfredo Caballero, no idea why Franco wasn't the starting one, and Lux was fantastic in the olympic games. I think Argentina could've made more goals but missed many some chances.
What a pleasure it is to see Tunisia losing. Two more defeats and I'll be satisfied.
datboy 15-06-2005, 07:08:PM Brazil - Greece tomorrow. cant wait!!
JFG_Lancer 15-06-2005, 07:15:PM No Ai,ar for Argentina today? do hope he will play some time. Lux is a fool and lucky for hime the first penality was a miss
Deisler 15-06-2005, 07:47:PM Now is our turn. Come on Germany. :)
Deisler 15-06-2005, 08:07:PM Kuranyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iii
Torrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
1-0 :D
Deisler 15-06-2005, 08:11:PM Holy sh!t...2 minutes 2 other goals...
1-1 Sconco
2-1 Mertesackerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Like the spanish announcer said it... Golasooo asoooooooo asoooooooo asooooooooo :)
El Diablo Rojo 15-06-2005, 08:19:PM Aloisi draws for Australia 2-2 now.
Deisler 15-06-2005, 08:19:PM Aloisi
2-2 :boohoo:
::shinji:: 15-06-2005, 08:55:PM what a great first half in the Germany-Australia game! Even as a neutral fan I'm really enjoying the passionate football being played by both teams! This almost feels like a WC game :D So, f*ck all you "they should scrap this tournament" people..
Deisler 15-06-2005, 09:05:PM 3-2
Ballack on penalty
What a fvcking tunnel Friedrich did to the Aussie defender. :D
Deisler 15-06-2005, 09:37:PM 4-2 Podolskiiiiiiiiii This is scary. This Germany can actually be as fast as it gets...
4-3 But our defense is as **** as it gets...
denrze 15-06-2005, 09:39:PM Wow, what a bad game by germany, no intensity, so many technical errors... last games were much better. It's a wonder they've scored four goals. Well, in the end they won, maybe next time they won't be so excited and play better. Defense too young an inexperienced, Wörns, metzelder will be back after Confed Cup, Nowotny and Lahm till World Cup. Podolski, Mertesacker, Schweinsteiger and Deisler were best on german team. Nice game for neutral spectators, many goals, already a bit World Cup feeling.
Virgo 15-06-2005, 09:43:PM meh Schweinsteiger is the best german player atm by far, dunno why people praise Ballack so much.
Keemo 15-06-2005, 09:44:PM Yep that was some scary defence by Germany. Still a win is a win. Lots of great goals. That last one for Germany was nice.
denrze 15-06-2005, 09:45:PM Ballack is better player I think, altough he did not play good today but he can decide a game if he plays with intensity, see fourth goal.
Klobb 15-06-2005, 09:45:PM Podolski saved Germany, but although our defense played HORRIBLE, we still got the win.
Kibe Kru 15-06-2005, 09:50:PM Nice match between the aussies and germany... I was expecting more from Cahill, but it was a good performance for the aussies...
Brazilian tv commentators were having some problems with Schweinsteiger's name, and were relieved when he came off for ernst ("I don't know if he'll play any better than Schweinsteiger but at least his name is easier to say")... also, they said Cahill didn't play up to his fame.. then said he played for everton and "but it doesn't take much to be an everton player. Everton is Liverpool's second best side."
SuRFy 15-06-2005, 09:52:PM Stupid, trust the Paraguayan Ref, Arne is a frigin Diver !!!
Schwarzer had a great game in goal, Aloisi was class.
Should've been 3-3
(Y)
Gareth 15-06-2005, 10:37:PM A friend of mine from Referee's is doing the Mexico-Japan game tomorrow... come on Breezie!
Hendrik 15-06-2005, 10:45:PM I don't like Klinsmann's tactics at all. We don't win games by playing like Brazil, we gotta play less attacking football.
It's good that the young players are getting playing time though and they were the best on our side. Schweinsteiger, Podolski and Mertesacker played pretty well, it's enjoyable to watch the first two handling the ball.
Please no Huth but Deisler instead of Schneider from the beginning next time.
Klobb 15-06-2005, 11:02:PM I hate how Klinsmann rotates Lehmann and Kahn.
Damn.
I was up at 4am, sick.
It was the 8th minute and I ran to the toilet to vomit and then I get back 15minutes later and I have missed 3 goals.
Fernandez 15-06-2005, 11:56:PM Fascinating game between Germany and Australia. Germany's defence is too fragile to win the world cup for me. And Vince, I think the reason why Klinsmann always makes the team play attacking football is that he was once a striker, and maybe he still has the mentality of attacking and not defending.
Argentina? It was Australia.
Fernandez 16-06-2005, 12:04:AM Sorry Rob, but my mind was elsewhere. :chew:
Whatever happened to Pablo Cavallero he was a good solid keeper. Even though the second penalty was a blatant dive, Lux is horrible. Based on today's performace he is a Barthez in the making.
I would have won money had Argentina not conceded that goal. :f***: :boohoo:
I hate Pablo Cavallero after what happened in WC 2002, I like to call him hands of gravy, cause he cannot stop anything....
Oz_Leeds_Fan 16-06-2005, 03:49:AM So close!!
Well done to the lads for giving it a good go and almost getting a result :)
ManU2000 16-06-2005, 05:28:AM Very good game between Australia and Germany, can't say I expected that. :D
Anyway, we debut tomorrow against Japan and I hope we lose all 3 games, maybe that way we'll get our damn players back for the Libertadores.
lol, has anyone downloaded the Confederations Cup program from SoccerAccess.com? Ariel has done a great job with this utility, it looks excellent....
SuRFy 16-06-2005, 06:34:AM Very good game between Australia and Germany, can't say I expected that. :D
Always expect it (H)!!!
Anyway looking forward to the Argentina - Australia clash, would be a great game to watch.
ufojeremy 16-06-2005, 06:43:AM A lot of goals is expected
Vince, I totally agree. Schneider is not good enough to be starting over Deisler every game. Deisler has much more potential and should be the starter unless he starts messing up. Also, like you said Huth is horrible. He's just a big guy that is good in the air, otherwise he is nothing special. He's making stupid fouls by using his body too obviously. Either way, hopefully Metzelder comes in and takes his spot.
denrze 16-06-2005, 08:38:AM The problem with Deisler is that klinsmann doesn't want to bring him back too fast so that he gets injured again or the pressure is too big on him. It's still one year till World Cup, I'm sure he will be starting then. The defense is very fragile, on the other hand one has to consider that both guys in the middle, Huth and Mertesacker, are just 20 years old.
I like the way Klinsmann lets his team play, we've had enough of this slow game and didn't succeed in the last years. Especially if we play a World Cup at home you have to get the fans involved and attack.
Parra Power 16-06-2005, 10:41:AM no bresciano, no kewell and no viduka and it still took a fairly weak penalty for germany to get over us....... looking good for australia in terms of november WC qualifyers, even with our dim-witted coach http://soccergaming.tv/images/newsmilies/CoolH.gif
ufojeremy 16-06-2005, 10:52:AM Germany get a lot of candies in those friendly game
But when they step into real competition, it is a different scenerio
Shiryu 16-06-2005, 04:54:PM Mexico - Japan and Brasil - Greece today.
I think Mexico doesn't really have what it takes (right now) to beat Japan. So, unless Mexico does really well, i say the Nippon will take the win.
The Brasil - Greece game should be quiet good, though the different styles of play may make it a very low scoring game. Still, let's hope the verde-amarelas can give us a good show. (Y)
Keemo 16-06-2005, 05:47:PM Tied 1-1 at HT. I don't see why Mexico coulden't win this.
ManU2000 16-06-2005, 05:52:PM I honestly think we should be winning this, we've had some good chances but as usual, we can't finish for ****. :nape: With all of the possession that we've got, I can see us winning the game. Great goal from Zinha, that's the only good thing he's done all game, he keeps losing the ball. :kader:
Pizarro14 16-06-2005, 06:14:PM Inamoto wow!!!!! nice shot but no goal close thou. Btw those commentary guys in univision suck a$$
Pizarro14 16-06-2005, 06:16:PM Goal some Mexican dude
2-1 Mexico
lmao at the commentarys I miss the old school guy from Univision
ManU2000 16-06-2005, 06:46:PM Goal some Mexican dude It was "Kikin" Fonseca.
Mexico 2 - Japan 1 FT
Brazil on Sunday, I hope they don't beat the **** out of us like they did at Copa America.
$teauA 16-06-2005, 06:48:PM Watched the last 15 minutes of this match. Pretty entertaining (Y)
jimorrizon 16-06-2005, 06:52:PM VIVA MEXICO!!!!
Great 1st goal by Zinha angled at the corner....
Excellent header by El KIKIN Fonseca....
fender 16-06-2005, 06:53:PM Fair result Mexico deserved to win, Japan's attack looks really lightweight.
Shiryu 16-06-2005, 06:54:PM A very well played game by Mexico.
Aside from my personal opinion, Lavolpe did a good job. He has been trying to establish a singular style of play and clear organization in Mexico, something which had been literary non-existent during the past years. It has been working pretty well, at all levels, showing consistent good results, and quite significantly, with better team-work in games. He has shown that he will stick to his view of the game, not taking outside opinions in Mexico, and will make a team of his own, and I can respect that.
Nice goal by Zinha also, another one of "Lavope's players".
Now in my opinion, Lavolpe can burn in hell!, and get raped by the biggest object that can be found in germany.
F*cking son of a b*tch, Well Done.
Now, here comes the Samba!! :lui:
Adriano7 16-06-2005, 07:03:PM hey any peeps from england here give me a time and channel for the brazilv greece game ?
jimorrizon 16-06-2005, 07:05:PM Hey, anybody who watched the game(MEXICO VS Japan), who do you think was the player of the game?
IMO it was Zinha....
Shiryu 16-06-2005, 07:07:PM Yeah, also Pardo did very well, stepped up his level from previous games. (Y)
jimorrizon 16-06-2005, 07:10:PM I agree, but Pavel always plays at 100% no matter who the opponent is IMO...
jimorrizon 16-06-2005, 07:13:PM GAME STATS: They show IMO that MEXICO was superior to Japan...
JPN MEX
2 Shots on Goal 7
8 Shots Wide 16
15 Fouls 8
3 Corner Kicks 5
2 Offsides 2
0 Own Goals 0
1 Yellow Cards 0
0 Red Cards 0
47% Ball Possession 53%
Shiryu 16-06-2005, 07:24:PM I guess for his contribution, Foseca can be named the player of the match. Plus he gave the Nippon a good dance a couple of times. (Y)
About game possession, yes I also did think that Mexico controlled most the game. Mostly because Japan seem afraid to go all forward at times, and Mexico did well to take the opportunity with some of the substitutions. This may not happen against teams like Brazil though, so let's not got all out and say that Mexico can dominate, but they did were superior to Japan in this game.
Keemo 16-06-2005, 07:31:PM MoM goes to Fonseca. You guys didn't look like you had to play very hard. You play harder against us. :ewan:
Time for Brazil-Greece. This should be good.
Vazza 16-06-2005, 07:54:PM People in the UK, the game's on C5 :fool:. So far it's been fairly even, although Brazil have been looking more threatening in the last few minutes with a couple of corners and a Robinho (I think) shot from the left edge of the box.
Vazza 16-06-2005, 08:15:PM What a goal!
Adriano thumped it into the bottom right hand corner from just outside the box...Brazil 1-0 Greece
Virgo 16-06-2005, 08:17:PM what a goal by Adriano
f*ck off Greeks
ForzaNerrazurri 16-06-2005, 08:19:PM Sportsnet has this game delayed like....5 minutes
What a great goal from Il Imperatore. SPECTACULAR! (H)
ahaha commentator. "RONALDO WHO?!?!"
Vagegast 16-06-2005, 08:20:PM f*ck off Greekshttp://koji1972.cocolog-nifty.com/yappari/euro_2004_champions_greece.jpg
Vazza 16-06-2005, 08:21:PM Charisteas just missed the Greeks' best chance so far...he could only hit the side netting after a low driven cross from the right into the 6 yard box.
EDIT: HT
santino 16-06-2005, 08:26:PM  Adriano
when the greeks won euro2004, they were chanting "we want brazil, we want brazil!"
well guess what, u got them, and adriano just owned u ;)
Brazil is doing what they can.. And Greece is defending well and had some good scoring chances.
It has been a nice game so far

Hendrik 16-06-2005, 09:48:PM How the hell did you guys win the Euro!!!!! :f***:
*hangs head in shame* :(
By being the better team and beating Portugal twice. :ewan:
The Brazilian team is nicely balanced. Roque Junior might not be the most talented player out there but him and Lucio complement each other because he's good in the air.
::shinji:: 16-06-2005, 09:48:PM Owning you twice :rockman:
Touché.. :mexican:
To Yossarian... No f*ckin' kidding!! Rogers Sportsnet totally ownz.. We (Canadians) should all be writing big-ass thank you letters to them :jap:
Yossarian 16-06-2005, 10:27:PM Indeed, bro. I'm a well known basher of both SN and Tsn, but I've gotta congratulate SN for being so cool and brave with their broadcasting of two soccer tournaments simultaneously....that takes some major balls in this part of the world as a programmer. It's unheard of here in this silly country that patterns its viewing habits after America, man.
WilliamFAlmeida 16-06-2005, 10:37:PM wooohooo Brasil won!!
Didnt see the game yet, but I do have it recorded....soon, after work.... :lui:
Limberopoulos21 16-06-2005, 10:40:PM We started off ok, but after 20 minutes it was Brazil's game. All 3 goals were world class. I'm mostly dissapointed by our forwards. They can't shoot, seriously, 3 games in a row without scoring. :nape: Atleast take a shot, even if it's in a bad postion. Giannakopoulos one-on-one with the keeper, he passes it to his right (even though it was offside he should have put something behind the shot, to show he had scoring on his mind.) Greece were very predictable on freekicks, take a shot don't cross it in the same way each time. Once Dida was out of his net by 6 feet atleast and guy was the wall. Take a shot to atleast throw them off. Only one greek impressed me, Katsouranis, even though some of his shots were really lousy he had intention. Our sweeper had more shots than our top forwards.
I think our players had their minds elsewhere, very nervous, passing was off. Atleast they had some good exprience from this game, it's not often you get to play the world's greatest team. I didn't expect to win, maybe manage a tie, but a loss was the only thing I could see. Hopefully we can still manage to qualify for the quarters or atleast some kind of a good showing.
Shiryu 16-06-2005, 11:16:PM Brazil show-off...(Y)
Again they make it clear, that even when they don't have an excellent game, they can still win easily.
What the hell was this other team? Surely they do play smart, pure european football, but I saw nothing in them that comes even close to resembling a European Champion.
Shame on you, Europe... :fool:
Luis Ah-Hoy 16-06-2005, 11:28:PM your ultra-mega-defensive and cowardly methods didn't work this time! well, i guess they never will.... ever again... :ewan:
shame mr. rehhagel.... :boohoo: :hump:
ronnifan9 16-06-2005, 11:29:PM Mexico 2-1 Japan Nice goal by Fonseca & that Zinha dude.
Yeey...ah crap! Brazil :|
Luis Ah-Hoy 16-06-2005, 11:34:PM and BTW
Greece were only champios bcoz for one) they were so f*cking lucky against the Czechs... and for two) Portugal SUCKED, in both games against them... :ewan:
Nice to see Mexico in the same group with Brazil.
I dunno if I'll have the time to watch Mexico get rapped by Brazil...I better work something out.
Fernandez 16-06-2005, 11:56:PM The Greeks' negativity can't match the attacking onslaught of Brazil.
ManU2000 17-06-2005, 04:19:AM I dunno if I'll have the time to watch Mexico get rapped by Brazil...I better work something out.
We'll see on Sunday. If we can keep it competitive, I'll be happy.
ForzaNerrazurri 17-06-2005, 04:41:AM Anyone have a clip of the Adriano goal? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can provide it for me :jap:
Here in Mexico the comentators are saying that Mexico is almost qualified... well i think they shouldn't underestimate Greece..because thats when they play better
I still hope Brazil and Greece advance to the semis
denrze 17-06-2005, 10:18:AM One can see that this Confed Cup gains importance. Teams let their stars play, the evening games are sold out, many goals, kind of World Cup atmosphere. Like it:D
ufojeremy 17-06-2005, 11:49:AM and BTW
Greece were only champios bcoz for one) they were so f*cking lucky against the Czechs... and for two) Portugal SUCKED, in both games against them... :ewan:
And what about the other games??
If lucky can put a goal into the net, Greece dont have to play or even run!!!
mufc_daddy 17-06-2005, 03:26:PM Whats the reason for Roberto Carlos not being involved in this tournament? There has been no comotion like with Ronaldo!
When i saw Gilberto in the number 6 shirt i was well suprised. He looked good. Can somebody plz tell me more about this Gilberto chap?
Any links for Adriano's goal? That was a thunderbolt.
Also what is the ball they r using? (Apart from being Adidas :crazyboy: )
::shinji:: 17-06-2005, 03:35:PM I didn't even think Brazil played very well at all, a couple nice goals but not much else. I'm actually surprised they didn't get even more ball possesion. Brazil - Mexico will be a good game I think, the Mexican's technical style will create more chances against the Brazilians then the Greeks did.
Hendrik 17-06-2005, 03:43:PM Whats the reason for Roberto Carlos not being involved in this tournament? There has been no comotion like with Ronaldo!
Roberto Carlos and Cafu are given a rest due to their age.
When i saw Gilberto in the number 6 shirt i was well suprised. He looked good. Can somebody plz tell me more about this Gilberto chap?
Gilberto, 29, plays for Hertha Berlin where him and his countryman 8and Bundesliga player of the year) Marcelinho complement each other in the midfield.
Kibe Kru 17-06-2005, 03:52:PM Parreira will rotate the left backs, next match we'll have Leo (who plays for Santos) there... he wanted to do the same in the right back position, but since Beletti got injured, Cicinho is going to play the first few matches...
Gilista 17-06-2005, 03:59:PM Anyone have a clip of the Adriano goal? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can provide it for me :jap:

Anyhow enoy all 3 goals that they fed to that hungry "FLUKE" nation.

Shiryu 17-06-2005, 04:33:PM I didn't even think Brazil played very well at all, a couple nice goals but not much else. I'm actually surprised they didn't get even more ball possesion. Brazil - Mexico will be a good game I think, the Mexican's technical style will create more chances against the Brazilians then the Greeks did.
True, Lavolpe has the tendency of playing offensive football, with a greater emphasis on personal marking, against big teams (Brazil, Argentina, ect). Lavolpe will problably go with a 3-2-3-2, or maybe even a 3-3-2-2, and get Torrado and Marquez in there to mark Ronaldinho, attacking mostly through the wings to make those SB's stay back.
Anyway, this match will give for more back-and-forth playing, with both teams playing heavily on counter-attacks. It should have a nice pace.
I'm sure Lavolpe still remembers the Copa America game (where Brazil eliminated Mexico). Planning a little revenge?

Marquez could play, but he will not be at 100%.
A Germany win tomorrow against dirty Tunisia will make my day (Y)
Keemo 17-06-2005, 04:45:PM I expect Mexico to put up a much better fight than Greece. Should be an entertaining match. Mexico are creative on attack something Japan and Greece don't have.

ManU2000 17-06-2005, 11:31:PM I'm sure Lavolpe still remembers the Copa America game (where Brazil eliminated Mexico). Planning a little revenge? Please don't remind of that. :( About Marquez, I wouldn't risk putting him back out there if he's not 100% ready to go. I'd rather play him against Greece (if he can) or later on should we get into the semis.
Fernandez 18-06-2005, 04:20:AM Mexico's passing is quick and accurate.
WilliamFAlmeida 18-06-2005, 04:56:AM I liked how Brasil played against Greece. It reminded me of a World CUp match, same intesity. Except on the finishing....other than that I think we will be able to beat Mexico
Pizarro14 18-06-2005, 06:26:PM 2-0 Germany
Penalty by Ballack
AND A NICE GOAL BY BASTI!!!!!!!
Germany is playing good not great but good enough to win.
Can't wait to see Germany VS Argentina :rockman:
I hear Adriano's goal was a screamer thats awesome
Pizarro14 18-06-2005, 06:34:PM Min 43 NICE CROSS FROM DIESLER to Hanke
3-0 Germany
denrze 18-06-2005, 06:42:PM Hitlsperger is terrible. He should not play on this team. Despite 3-0 Tunisia was better team for a long time and played with discipline, but in the end it's Germany as so often, winning 3-0. Nice goal by Schweinsteiger, Huth got better during the game and Lehmann played a very good game, a better one than Kahn vs Australia.
Hendrik 18-06-2005, 06:50:PM We didn't play exceptionally well but it was ok. The defense was much better than against the Aussies and again the four 20 year olds were among the best.
::shinji:: 18-06-2005, 06:58:PM Flattering scoreline, but Tunisia didn't deserve anything out of this game. Besides some possesion, they didn't do much (this is the champ of Africa?) Hoping Argentina - Australia will be more entertaining..
Mertesacker played extremely well, Huth had a nice game too. They are talented and I could see them one of the best pairs of DF's
You said the four 20 years-old
Well Huth & Mertesacker are 20, I don't know how old are Friedrich & Hitzlsperger
Hendrik 18-06-2005, 07:12:PM Podolski and Schweinsteiger. Schweini didn't have a good game and made a lot bad passes but his finishing was good.
Podolski is important for the team, he's the only striker that can handle the ball, pass and finish. He assisted Schweini's goal nicely.
Asamoah took the piss though. Is there anything he can do? I favour Hanke over him.
adizlaja 18-06-2005, 07:23:PM Now I actually favor Hanke over both Asamoah and that Panamian mother****er... all he does is stand and hope to catch a put back.
Huth is still crap and will be replaced by either Worns/Metzelder come the WC06. Also, Lehman so far has outplayed Kahn.
Pizarro14 18-06-2005, 07:37:PM I agree Asamoah was total crap and useless. He was just lost in the field who kept falling asleep as soon as he got a pass from someone. Lehnman was good he made that superman save which looked like a goal. but he hid it well for no one to know but him and probably the defender that was next to him. Kuranyi wants perfect passes or else he isn't in the game. Diesler played well In my opinion, this guy was all over the field, to help recover balls, crosses, and some passes which weren't that good. Its good that he's done from that depression bullsh!t
Halftime.... Argentina 2 Australia 0. Argentina leads with a comfortable win... :rockman:

Deisler was sh*t. Basicly the whole team was sh*t, the scoreline isnt really a representation of the game imho. A 0:0 wouldve been that, since Tunisia was **** too. overall it was a very bad game to watch.
denrze 18-06-2005, 08:51:PM Crazy referees, every game a penalty... New FIFA rule, huh.. Two penalties for Argentina, two for Germany, two for Tunisia, now Australia. No game with less than three goals till now, very cool.

u are such a negative person :p . i SAID good in my opinion, good means he was probably good on a couple of drives. But Yea Germany barely beat Tunisia
Drvar 18-06-2005, 09:14:PM i was just pissed at the game :). expected flowing football, and neither team could put 3 passes together. tomorrow should be good better tho, i hope.
by the way, i think the only thing that can carry Germany further is the home crowd and a lot of luck. Klinsman(n?) has alot of work to do if he wants to do anything with this team.
Argentina 4 Australia 2 FINAL!! :rockman: Great game by Argentina, they dominated the full game, and the second goal by Australia was really a gift by Heinze...but oh well... 3 goals by Lucho Figueroa and one by Juan Roman Riquelme...

Failing to mention that the Argentinian side influenced a very inexperienced referee into giving decisions a credible official would have wave play onto... but do we expect less from the South Americans.
That said, Australia did well to get to 3-2 but at the end the day the Argentinians were a better side.
All I can say to that group of officials is... "Goodbye... have a safe trip home"

Yeah, that is true...the penalty on Saviola was a penalty and so was the one on the Australian player. I guess the "gift" by Heinze did account for the "no call" on the penalty to Australia...I do feel though, that some Australian players were a bit too agressive, some could have seen more yellows and a possible red. The last one on Aimar was incredible!

Hmmm, possibly. However, the Australian's play a very 'English-esque' game, in that they expect to make firm challenges and that the player will hold his feet, in todays game the slightest of any firm contact the opposing players went down.
How about the lllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttteeeeeeeee offside by the assistant in the 2nd half... my God! Was terrible. I mean, I'm all for making sure he interefere's but that is crazy... actually all the referee's for this Group A have been very average.
At least 1 positive out of this loss for the Aussies is that my mate Mr Breeze may get a Semi or the Final :)

Andreas 18-06-2005, 11:44:PM Don't know if this has been asked before, but isn't the Argentina jersey #10 not to be used by any players after Maradona? Didn't Pablo Aimar wear it today?

There should be threads for the individual games....some good ones commin up and I would feel that they deserve their OWN thread...nothing against this one though :ewan:
In the background all I can hear is:
A spoon - full of sugar makes the medicine go down, medicine go down,
medicine go down.......
Don't know if this has been asked before, but isn't the Argentina jersey #10 not to be used by any players after Maradona? Didn't Pablo Aimar wear it today?
I think they tried that but it failed in the conmebol, personally I believe that they should not retire an important jersey number like that, especially after what it means to us in Argentina. The #10 is given to the best player, in the likes of Maradona, so retiring that shirt almost takes away the mysticism.

Great performance yesterday by us.
Many players did great (Y).
The goals were kind of flukes, Penalty & Heinze's terrible error.

::shinji:: 19-06-2005, 06:44:PM Oguru's been a scorring machine lately, won't be long before he signs for a European team..
The result shouldn't be a surprise to anyone either. Greece reminds me of a heavyweight champ with a glass jaw, as soon as their luck runs out they're exposed for what they really are.. Don't hate on me now, y'all know I'm right. :read:
Keemo 19-06-2005, 06:45:PM Good determination from Japan. It took them awhile but they scored and deserved the win.

Yes, Greece won't get over it that did not made it to the semis of the most important tournament ever invented.
You want to take away something from their success last year, a bit biter, eh? Everyone in the next decades will remember their glory they achieved as probably THE miracle in football history.
I hope they qualify for the WC, their large fanbase would bring amazing atmosphere into the tournament.

Mexico are playing well. They don't have any individuals but are using the experience from the fact that the same players have been playing together on the NT for about 9000 games for the past 3 years.
Brazil is playing the worst they have in years (Adriano is having a terrible game).
Good job MExico though. They're doing the basics.....but they are doing it well.
