My vote would go as follows.

1. Vieri - the best in the business right now.

2. Rivaldo - The most dangerous and exciting player in the world today.

3. Beckham - best crosser bar none.

4. Batistuta - He still hasn't reached full
potential.

5. Yorke - Scoring machine. If he does it again this year, he'll win next time.

6. Bierhoff - Can he keep AC at the top ?

7. Stam - The best defender in Europe, if not the world.

8. Elber - If he hadn't gotten injured, he'd be in the top three.

9. Anelka - Anelka and Henry will keep France on top in 2002.

10. Mihalovic - Best free kick taker out there, bar none.

Don't want to point it out to you, but all your players are from europe. I'm not saying there are better players in other continents, but surely there should be one or two worth mentioning.

Pity, It should come as no suprise to anyone that most, if not all of the world's
best play in Europe. European clubs are the
only ones capable of shelling out the big
bucks. There are many world class stars who are from South America as well, but most of them play in Europe. I wasn't trying to slight any particular geographical area.

Really, you can't answer that now. Luck, mood, weather, health, even money can sway the performance of any of those players one way or another. So really, it's up for grabs until late in the seasons.

Mattaus will win the prize. Since he'll play for the MLS (the famous American "soccer"), he will the only one who will play at international level if his physical condition remains as
