Anywayz just to start the thread off...
FORZA INTER
FORZA RAGAZZI
All Hail to the Coppa Italia champs. This is just the beginning though. I have the highest hopes of all time for this side for next year. If the likes of Miha and Matrix were sufficient enough to win the Coppa and to lead this side to have the best defense for the 2nd part of the season, then just imagine what a couple of additions like Samuel, Solari, Mancini, and Pizarro could do. :rockman:
Anywayz here's a quick rundown of some of the players that are SERIOUSLY linked to the side and those who are definately/probably on their ways out.
RUMORS
IN
Solari (Could very well become the first signing next week)
Samuel
Pizarro
Mancini
Makinwa
Simplicio
Luisao
Alex (PSV's player on loan from Chelsea)
Veron (Probably will be resigned. Though it could be a loan deal for a year then he could be headed to Argentina)
Pandev (Wants to come back from Lazio)
Potenza (Could also return from loan)
OUT
Sorondo (To Charlton on Loan)
Coco (Simply to injury prone. Also seemingly has problems with Mancini)
Emre (To an EPL side, ranging from Arsenal, Man U, and Newcastle to Charlton and the Spurs or even Everton)
Van der Meyde (Probably also headed to the EPL)
Davids (Will almost definately leave, though to who? Hopefully to Real + Cash for Samuel)
Fontana (Definately cause his contract is up and he had a huge argument with Mancini)
Gamarra (His contract is up and he could very well leave)
CONFIRMED IN
Mihajlovic (His Contract has been Extended till next summer where he will probably become Mancini's assistant coach)
Javier Zanetti (His contract has been extended till 2010, where he will be 36. He might have it extended or not, but one thing is definate, he will end his career with the Nerazzuri)
CONFIRMED OUT
Burdisso (Due to family probs he'll have to go back to Argentina for a while on loan to Boca. Will definately be gone for atleast half of next year and perhaps even more depending on his son's health and other matters.)
Things will be very exciting this transfer market season. We are linked to some high quality players. Anywayz here is the squad I'd most like to see for next season.

ottawaguy 18-06-2005, 12:27:AM With Mancini in for his 2nd year I'm confident Inter will be a lot better than this past season. Hopefully the Coppa italia victory is a sign of future sucesses.
I'd like to see the obvious players leave like Davids, Coco, Van der Meyde etc. I also hope Vieri leaves and we get Gilardino, I don't want Cassano, he is too much of a menace. I've always liked Bernardo Corradi, I haven't heard much of his this season because he played in La Liga and really never played much for the national team. Was he injured?
Mikey 18-06-2005, 12:31:AM Inter definately need to make a step up in LB, but i havent heard anything about Heinze
Dreath 18-06-2005, 12:33:AM Woh didn't know it'd been so long since a scudetto win for you guys! 16 years... must suck.
SB9Dragon 18-06-2005, 01:46:AM Rumors came up today, Mikey. ;)
============================================
Real Want 18 Million Euros For Samuel And Solari
6/17/2005 12:25:00 PM
Real Madrid have told Inter that Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari will cost 18 million euros.
It was expected that Solari would complete his move this week, but the deal has hit problems as the winger has so far yet to agree personal terms as he is keen for a wage increase.
Samuel, meanwhile, was last week linked with a loan move to the San Siro, but it appears that any deal would see ’The Wall’ move back to Italy on a permanent basis.
Inter apparently want matters resolved by the end of the month otherwise they will look elsewhere.
================================================== ====
18 Million for those 2? I say: DEAL! Getting both players would help solve 2 of our major probs, LW and CB spots. Samuel is one of the best, even though he struggled at Real. Placing him next to Cordoba would cement our already great defence. I also have high hopes on Solari being a major threat on the LW. He and Kily could fight for the starting spot.
But even with all of this I don't know where Stankovic fits in. I'm guessing he will be simply included in the rotation for the central position, especially with Emre leaving.
ForzaNerrazurri 18-06-2005, 01:57:AM Stankovic had a terrible season. I really hope he can turn it around next season. He needs to really work on his shooting accuracy.
ForzaNerrazurri 18-06-2005, 05:09:AM Inter winger set to leave
by Nadia Carminati - created on 17 Jun 2005
Dutch international Andy van der Meyde admits he is expecting to leave Internazionale over the summer.
Van der Meyde has endured a troubled time in Milan and came close to exiting Giuseppe Meazza 12 months ago.
Everton failed with a bid for the winger, while Middlesbrough have also held a long-term interest in the former Ajax ace.
The wide man's agent told skysports.com last week that there had been no fresh offers for van der Meyde, who had been considering his future with Inter.
He now concedes he is due to quit the club before the start of next season after revealing he has been told he is not in Roberto Mancini's plans.
"They have told me I'm not in their plans and that, for me, there isn't space," said van der Meyde.
"They have also showed me a few solutions.
"Anyway nothing has been decided yet."
Premiership duo Everton and Boro could now rekindle their interest in van der Meyde, who has two years remaining on his Inter contract.
There has also been speculation in Italy that Inter could use van der Meyde as bait in an attempt to sign Roma ace Mancini. :)
Fernandez 18-06-2005, 05:17:AM Inter definately need to make a step up in LB, but i havent heard anything about Heinze
In your wet dreams will you get Heinze.

Heh and in your dreams Man U is going to win anything ever again.
Ah but this is a great thread keep up the good work guys as I shall read it and respond to it daily :D
ForzaNerrazurri 18-06-2005, 05:42:AM Inter definately need to make a step up in LB, but i havent heard anything about Heinze
Maybe Zanetti and Cambiasso said a little something to him :)
and thanks david :)
davidcfs 18-06-2005, 05:57:AM I personally agree with SB9 and Bobogol that this is the start of something amazing for inter and I am positive that next year is going to be a great showing :)
Though do you guys think that Toldo is going to stay this year?
tottiiii 18-06-2005, 06:09:AM Congratulations on the Coppa Italia Victory.
I'll be back when we start doing business.
Fernandez 18-06-2005, 12:24:PM Maybe Zanetti and Cambiasso said a little something to him :)

The fans love Heinze. Why would he want to leave anyway? He had held a 100% scoring record once this season.
Yossarian 18-06-2005, 02:43:PM Bismillah!
Awesome first post to kick off another year of anguish and heart-attack inducing setbacks, ForzaNerrazurri.
davidcfs 18-06-2005, 04:27:PM My uncle just called me up this morning saying he read in the italian paper that inter are very close to signing Robinho from Santos after the Copa Libertadores.
untouchable 18-06-2005, 04:42:PM My uncle just called me up this morning saying he read in the italian paper that inter are very close to signing Robinho from Santos after the Copa Libertadores.
Umm no. It's more likely that Real Madrid will sign him, seeing as he's flying into Spain to talk with them...
As for Inter, I hope they do well, I have family who support them, they need to start winning major competitions. I wish them all the best, under the conditions that they dont get in our way. :ewan:
Mikey 18-06-2005, 04:43:PM I thought he was Madrid bound.
I know its becoming the cliche to say "this is gonna be Inters year", but things are looking really good for them at the moment. Mancini is in his second year and has no adjusted to Inter, as they were the best team in Serie A in second half (not 100% sure). theyre making smart signings, and the core of the team (Cordoba--Zanetti--Cambiasso--Adriano) are already in place. Mancini is doing the smart thing and reducing the squad. I'd hate to see Van Der Medye leave as he's a great player and was always misused by Inter, but hopefully he can stay in Italy with Roma or Fiorentina (even though I bet he goes to England).
Once Inter signs Solari and hopefully Samuel (18M is reasonable enough for Samuel alone) than they can pick up a young CB and a proven LB. Doesnt Real still owe Inter like $8-10M from Ronaldo deal when they didnt take option on Solari a couple years ago.
I hope Zanetti and Cambiasso are selling Inter well to Samuel, and maybe trying to lure Heinze.
What other LB's out there would be ideal? I can think of Dede, Lahm, Ashley Cole, Kaladze, Del Horno and Wayne Bridge. Id really like to see Coco reclaim the spot and return to his best (C)

I can't pretend that I've followed Solari's career closely enough to make any judgements about him, but is he that much of an upgrade to Kily? If he's better around the box and can put away a lot of the shots Kily almost ends up scuffing or sending 20miles wide, then I guess we can forgive him for what he did to us in the Ronaldo deal and bring him here. I know this really doesn't mean much, but Moratti has always held him in high regard.
As for Samuel, I don't know if he personally bombed in Spain because he was outside of his realm and got destroyed by the more attacking style of Spanish football than in the Serie A where he was less exposed by the Italian game and where the tactics employed there can make an average defender look like a total stalwart,
I wouldn't mind getting him for between 12-16million euros, if not, we should go gung-ho after Juan, and Chiellini for our deficient LB position. I really love that dude, an awesome physical specimen who defends as well as he attacks. He should be priority #! for the leftback position, man.
SB9Dragon 18-06-2005, 11:48:PM Chiellini! Now how could I have forgotten about that guy. A wonderful player, but it's either he stays at Fiorentina or he goes back to Juve. I don't really see him joining us. On the list Mikey posted I'd really like to see Dede join. A. Cole would be great but with the budget limitations the chances of us getting him are 0 to none (unless Arsenal wants Emre and perhaps Andy VDM as well)
BTW what newspaper said we were close to Robinho. To be honest, if we signed him I'd giggle like a school girl on drugs. Imagine having Robinho and Adriano as our main strikers upfront. Is there a drooling emoticon? :D
Internazionale 21-06-2005, 04:24:AM Our next objective: Let's win Italian Super Cup.
I'm also confident Inter will be a better team in 2005/2006 under Mancini.
Mikey 21-06-2005, 04:53:AM I cant see Chiellini coming, at least not this summer. Id love to see him arrive though, as hed be assured of a starting spot as well as increase inter's sorely deprived Italian contingent.
If Inter signs Samuel, I heard Materazzi would go to Genoa. Juan is currently being benched for Roque Junior for Brazil, so Im starting to have my doubts
With Frey being strongly linked with Fiorentina, I guess Inter will be sticking with Toldo. Smart move, as I still rank him as one of the worlds best. Although Frey will be in that class pretty soon
From what I've seen of Robinho, Id rather have Martins.
In Recoba, Emre, Van Der Meyde, Vieri and Cruz, Inter have a number of players to sell for a good profit or package as part of a trade.
@ Yoss, Kily Gonzalez has never looked very good to me while at Inter, nowhere near as effective as he seems to be with Argentina. In most of the Real games I saw this season, when Solari came on for Beckham he always improved the team a lot. Only was benched because Becks has to start, more than any lack of talent on Solari's part. Hed be a good pickup, and im sure he'll get back in argentinian NT in due time(Y).
In Juve Thread, someone mentioned that Miguel of Benfica is being linked with Inter. With Zanetti I dont see the need, unless Mancini plans to use one of them as a LB. Maybe they could sign Cesar and play him at LB, seeing as Lazio wants full-ownership of Pandev from Inter.
davidcfs 21-06-2005, 05:11:AM Who likes my new Sig :P

I agree inter has enough class players that we wont be affected if we get rid of Recoba, Emre, Van Der Meyde, Vieri and Cruz it could possibally help us more in getting a stronger keeper and a better defender aside from that inter isn't lacking much :)
ForzaNerrazurri 21-06-2005, 05:15:AM nice sig(Y)
I don't think we will get Miguel. Playing either him or Zanetti on the wrong side would be useless. If anything, we should go after Luisao, but whatever.

Yeah, Chiellini's arrival to Inter is purely wishful rumination on my part, really. He should've been involved in that Canna trade, man.
If Inter signs Samuel, I heard Materazzi would go to Genoa. Juan is currently being benched for Roque Junior for Brazil, so Im starting to have my doubts
Materazzi is one of my favourite footballers and I'd be crushed if he was offloaded to make room for someone else. I realize that he's not the type that's content with riding the bench, but we've gotta somehow find a way to make a roster spot for 'em. As for Juan and his situation with the Brazilian NT, don't make much of it, man. All NT teams have their faults and have unexplainable roster selections. He's had his ups and downs in the bundesliga, but I feel that he'd be fantastic for us.
With Frey being strongly linked with Fiorentina, I guess Inter will be sticking with Toldo. Smart move, as I still rank him as one of the worlds best. Although Frey will be in that class pretty soon
Too bad. I desperately wanted Frey back and he was hinting at wanting to come back aswell in some interviews. I feel that Toldo has reached and passed that age of liability, that age where he either should be retiring or handing over the gloves and taking a secondary role.......to Carini.
In Recoba, Emre, Van Der Meyde, Vieri and Cruz, Inter have a number of players to sell for a good profit or package as part of a trade.
BLASPHEMOUS!! King Recoba must retire in an Inter shirt, Emre and Vieri I wouldn't mind shipping off for some cash, Cruz is a fantastic backup, let's keep 'em.

Yeah, I agree with you here for the most part. Kily hasn't even been a shell of his older self in an Inter shirt, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't been trying. That's a great characteristic about the Argies, they hardly ever cheat you on effort and determination. I don't even know if he's even assisted on any goals for us, but he's given us 100% heart and courage out there on the pitch. He'll be good for the UCL.
Lastly, a question for you guys.......should we go after Mancini or give the position to Ze Maria who's really deserving of a starting spot on the team anyway?
Mikey 22-06-2005, 12:14:AM I never question Kily's effort, the man always looks exhausted and ready for a fight. I just think theres better alternatives. I always thought VDM played much better than Kily when given chances.
Fiorentina said Freys wages are too high, so Inter could still be possibility.
do you mean RM or RB for Ze Maria? Id take Zanetti over Ze Maria for RB spot, and has someone already mentioned Zanetti isnt as effective in LB role. I think Ze Maria is an excellent backup for RB or RM position, but not a starter. If he can play LB and inter dont sign anybody he could take thats spot i guess.
Watching Argentina play of late, Inter could easily adopt their formation. This could be a good lineup if Mancini's 4-4-2 doesnt work out:

Yossarian 22-06-2005, 12:27:AM For Ze Maria, RW, not RB. There is no one better than Zanetti at his position. The only time I'd have him moved is when we desperately need the both of them on the pitch. But if we secure a quality LB, then there would be no need in moving Zanetti to the left at times.
I envision something like this with that roster you're drawing from +1...........

mark77 22-06-2005, 03:07:PM Recoba berates Javier Zanetti
Tuesday 21 June, 2005
Alvaro Recoba has slated Inter captain Javier Zanetti’s leadership qualities and wishes they could have a Paolo Maldini figure.
“I think that one of Inter’s problems is that we don’t have a player who can command the respect of his teammates,” said the Uruguayan. “Javier Zanetti is a good man, but he is not a leader. Other teams, such as Milan with Maldini, have figures of importance.”
This is not the first time that Zanetti’s ability to charge up the squad has been called into question, but it is unusual to hear it coming from one of his teammates.
Recoba, on holiday in his homeland, also commented on his future amid reports of a loan move to Sampdoria, Spain or the Premiership.
“Every year people say I’m going to move on, but at the end of the day I always stay. If it were up to patron Massimo Moratti I’d never leave and every time we meet he tells me so,” Il Chino revealed on TV programme ‘Punto Penal’.
“If one day he’ll want to send me away to another team, then I will go. It does make me sad that I manage to play at most 50 to 60 games a year, but I cannot change my style of football and I’ll always be a controversial figure.”
The Nerazzurri have finally ended their seven-year silverware drought by winning the Coppa Italia, although Recoba could only view the festivities on television.
“Finishing third in Serie A and taking the Coppa Italia means that it wasn’t a bad season. I was amazed to see so many people at San Siro celebrating and perhaps this was an extra special trophy because our rivals Milan ended up empty-handed.”
Yossarian 22-06-2005, 05:47:PM Not cool, not cool at all, man. Simply disgraceful and unforgivable of him to deball zanetti like that in the public. I don't know what to think of this, really. They're my two favourite footballers in the world and I'm highly sensitive of them being bashed, but when it's one criticizing the other?
me is greatly confused and disappointed. Looks like King Recoba has signatured his exit out of here with Mancini not being a big fan of him to boot.
I would have Mancini fired right this minute if King Recoba's status as a starter could be guaranteed for me, man.................sirius (http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=Page&cid=1018209032790)

ForzaNerrazurri 22-06-2005, 06:37:PM Man, how can anyone.....ANYONE talk like that about Mr. Zanetti. I have a ton of respect for Recoba, but you just can't say things like that, especially about a man with such great respect by everyone. I guess we'll see Recoba with another team next season. sad....really sad that he has to go out like this
Can't believe what Recoba said. :nape:
Javier is an amazing player. He'll be a legend if we win the World Cup next year.
IceBlu 22-06-2005, 10:40:PM thats shameful. Zanetti for me IS a Maldini like personality.
I respect Javier a lot and is one Inter player I really admire. Great player, great leader. If anyone deserves more success its him.
Screw Recoba. Hyper talented but thats all... never did squat.... and with an attitude like this, he won't be achieving anything anytime soon.
haha damn right Inter dont have Paolo Maldini (H)
ForzaNerrazurri 22-06-2005, 10:56:PM Solari is 99.9% confirmed at Inter
fantastic buy (Y)
whats ur source though?
Mikey 22-06-2005, 11:01:PM Not to defend Recoba for coming out in public and bashing Zanetti, but I'm sure he's better judge of character/leadership than any of us. And if hes gonna critisize Inter's lack of leadership, why doesnt he step up himself. He's been there long enough and makes more money than his performances have ever justified.
Its gonna be hard to offload Recoba though, he has a massive contract and because of his inconsistent play his transfer fee wont be too high. A loan deal is more likely.
and than there is Moratti who loves him so much for some odd reason.
modena_10 22-06-2005, 11:03:PM i think recoba's words were taken out of context, i never trust the press with this ****.
but still he's still out of line by talking about this period. zanetti is no maldini, but then again few are. zanetti is pure class, highly respected and a great leader.
but recoba is unlikely to go, moratti loves him
SB9Dragon 22-06-2005, 11:07:PM Recoba talking about Il Capitano in that matter is simply unacceptable. Though I'm hoping and praying he gets into a huge fight with Mancini. Then maybe he'll finally be booted. I'm sick and tired of this guy, and him talking down to Zanetti definately isn't helping.
ForzaNerrazurri 23-06-2005, 01:43:AM ']fantastic buy (Y)

ForzaNerrazurri 23-06-2005, 08:13:AM Fenerbahce seem to want him but Emre wants to keep playing outside Turkey. Newcastle seem to be the team most interested in him at the moment though.
hes gonna be like Veron in EPL.. :(
SiCkFeSt^ 23-06-2005, 12:31:PM Im not too sure about that, Emre has the quick dribbling skill that can easily do well in the EPL.
Veron is suited to Italian football because he likes to control the game and slow it down to his pace then unleash a long ball.
Im not really happy to see him go as hes been with us for awhile but he just doesn't seem to fit in Mancini's plans.

And in interviews he talks as if he doesn't want to be with inter. It's dissapointing because emre is a great player.
I said we lone him out for a year so he gets some playing time and so that way when veron leaves next year we have someone to fill his place.
SB9Dragon 23-06-2005, 10:05:PM We are now being linked to Fiore and Marchionni for our RW. So that makes 4 main candidates, Fiore, Marchionni, Esposito, and Mancini.
BTW according to reports, Solari has signed a 4 year deal, but it will be announced with the Samuel deal when that is finally wrapped up.
ForzaNerrazurri 23-06-2005, 10:08:PM Great news, I am really excited. I would be even more excited if either Esposito or Mancini joined with us. I'm not too sure how fit Fiore is. How did he play last year with Valencia?
Mikey 24-06-2005, 12:39:AM Fiore would be a waste of money, unless they can get him on loan.
I find it funny that Inter feel they need to "solve" their winger crisis when they have never properly used a man perfect for the job, Andy Van Der Meyde. I dont think any of the wingers theyve been linked with are any better than him.
Esposito is a great player, but hes more of a support/wing forward than an outside midfielder in Mancini's 4-4-2.
What happend to their interest in Figo and Giggs?
Payukgcn 24-06-2005, 01:19:AM Fenerbahce seem to want him but Emre wants to keep playing outside Turkey. Newcastle seem to be the team most interested in him at the moment though.

ForzaNerrazurri 24-06-2005, 03:39:AM Emre claims Prem deal
by Alp Ayhan - created on 23 Jun 2005
Turkish star Emre Belozoglu has stated that he will be playing in The Premiership next season after agreeing a deal with an as yet unnamed club.
The diminutive schemer is set to move on from Internazionale in the near future and has attracted interest from a host of clubs.
Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United have all been linked with the schemer and the signs are suggesting The Magpies are in pole position to secure his signature.
Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd revealed on Thursday that manager Graeme Souness had jetted to Turkey to hold talks with the midfielder.
Emre has now revealed that he has agreed terms with his next club, snubbing an offer from Fenerbahce, which would appear to suggest that he could be bound for St James' Park.
"Fenerbahce made an offer to me above Turkish standards," he said at a press conference. "But I've agreed a contract near to that with an English club.
"I thank Fenerbahce for their generous offer.
"I spoke to the manager of my new team and saw that he had trust in me."
Emre feels he has the tools to enable him to flourish in The Premiership.
"I believe I can do a good job in England," the 25-year-old added.
"It was mostly about defensive football and tactics in Italy.
"I don't think I'll have any difficulty in The Premiership."
Emre refused to divulge the name of his new club, claiming his ties with Inter prevent him from doing so.
"As a player that still has a contract with FC Inter, it wouldn't be right to give the name of the English club," he added. "The two clubs are still talking over details."
Ciao Emre :nape:
davidcfs 24-06-2005, 05:05:AM We are now being linked to Fiore and Marchionni for our RW. So that makes 4 main candidates, Fiore, Marchionni, Esposito, and Mancini.

Esposito!!! *drools* That would be awsome!!
you really think you can get Samuel?
He was like Real's first "real" buy since ever! The first player signed who's not part of their Galactico project.
SB9Dragon 24-06-2005, 06:42:PM Shev7, Real are "desperate" to let Samuel go so that they can free a non-EU spot and sign Robinho. They already have replacements lined up. The only prob in all of this is how much they want Inter to pay next season if they want to keep Samuel, 16M Pounds. So yeah I really do think the club can get Samuel, everything is setup and waiting, Moratti just has to agree to the deal (or try to get that price lowered)
BTW 3 transfer dealings happened 2day.
DEALS DONE FOR TWO PLAYERS
Friday, 24 June 2005 17:06:37
MILAN - Besides the agreement with Chelsea for the renewal of the two-year loan of Juan Sebastian Veron, FC Internazionale Milano have finalised two other transfer market operations. The co-ownership of Goran Pandev (pictured) between Inter and Lazio has been renewed until 30 June 2006, while Chievo have agreed a deal to buy Franco Semioli outright.
So Veron's loan deal has been extended to 2 more years.
[I guess it's good for the short term, but with him sticking around for more years Pizarro probably won't join this year, which sucks.]
Pandev's co-ownership deal with Lazio has been renewed for one more year.
[I guess it's alright. I ultamitely see him as Kily's replacement, and perhaps that will be able to happen next season.]
Chievo have signed Franco Semioli from Inter.
[Now this one I'm not so glad about. This guy could have had an impact with us, especially with our need for wingers. But I guess the club must be looking to make some cash in an attempt to sign other players, but even so why not sell Sorondo, Morfeo, and Ventola instead?]
ForzaNerrazurri 24-06-2005, 07:14:PM I'm glad that we kept Veron. He had a decent year with us, and played much better than Stankovic. I hope to see more 30 yard bullet goals in the upcoming season :)
Yossarian 24-06-2005, 10:21:PM Me hate Veron.
SB9Dragon 25-06-2005, 02:16:AM Emre has supposedly signed with Newcastle but neither Inter nor Newcastle's official sites have said anything. Makinwa is also close for a reported 6M. Sorta pricey, but I guess it all matters how good a player he really is. Shame I didn't watch him during the season.
And the Solari/Samuel thing drags on...
why sign Makinwa when he is actually just another Martins?
Yossarian 25-06-2005, 05:37:PM Aside from being black and Nigerian, what other similarities do they share, being right footed?
Makinwa is more of a target man (186cm tall) with awesome athletic ability to boot. We can loan 'em off, or if one of our forwards is sold off (God forbid it's King Recoba), he can come off the bench.
SB9Dragon 26-06-2005, 12:27:AM Makinwa: I'll join Inter on Monday Saturday 25 June, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nigerian sensation Stephen Makinwa has told a television station that he expects to be wearing the Inter jersey by Monday.
“I hope that my move to the Nerazzurri is completed on Monday,” said the striker. “I am very happy to have reached this stage of negotiations so quickly.”
The 21-year-old has made quite an impact on Serie A since joining Atalanta in the January transfer window, scoring six goals that almost saved them from relegation, and is still co-owned by the Bergamo club and Genoa.
He had been heavily linked with Milan and Palermo, but his friendship with fellow Nigerian Obafemi Martins (pictured) proved to be the key.
“I chose Inter because it is my dream to play for a big club where I can challenge for the Champions’ League and Scudetto. Besides, I’ll have no problem settling in if I can hook up with my good friend Martins.”
However, with so many strikers already at Roberto Mancini’s disposal and his similarity in style to Martins, it is possible that Makinwa will be loaned out to gain some more top flight experience.
“Nobody has spoken to me about spending time at another club,” assured the former Modena hitman. “As far as I can see, that isn’t going to be an issue.”
Well it looks like this deal will be wrapped up fast. Solari and Samuel's deals are also rumored to be wrapped up Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully all 3 players are signed by Tuesday, and then things can continue on from there.
BTW how can you call Recoba, "King Recoba," Yoss? He's injury plagued and overpayed and he'll never reach his full potential, so why keep him? I say sell him now and use the cash to bring in the likes of Pizarro and Gilberto (Brazil Confed. Cup LB) or another LB. Possibly Luisao as well with Van der Meyde being rumored to Benfica.
Virgo 26-06-2005, 12:31:AM Luisao will stay for another season at least. He has said so and he'll sign a new contract on Monday.
Mikey 26-06-2005, 12:33:AM Inter is about to sign Samuel, so there's no need for him anyways.
SB9Dragon 26-06-2005, 12:34:AM Oh. Perhaps a deal could be struck where he is signed but loaned out to you guys? I truly doubt it, but it's possible. I guess it all matters how much VDM really wants to go there.
SB9Dragon 26-06-2005, 12:38:AM Inter is about to sign Samuel, so there's no need for him anyways.
Yeah, Samuel is about to be signed, but it's looking like Materazzi will leave for Fiorentina. Then what would that leave us with? Gamarra's contract is up and I doubt he'll sign on (he has been treated like dirt when it comes to getting playing time) and Burdisso is heading back to Argentina on loan due to family problems. So whose left?
Cordoba
Samuel
Mihajlovic
Mancini wants to cut down on the number of players in the squad, but I really doubt he'll be satisfied with just 3 defenders for 3 competitions. Even if Gamarra does stay, if Materazzi leaves another defender will have to be signed.
Virgo 26-06-2005, 12:53:AM Oh. Perhaps a deal could be struck where he is signed but loaned out to you guys? I truly doubt it, but it's possible. I guess it all matters how much VDM really wants to go there.
really doubt it man.
We just bought the remaining 75% of his pass (we had just 25%).
The plan is for him to stay for another season to play an hopefully successful CL campaign and to be a starter for Brazil in the World Cup (shouldn't be too hard as Roque Junior is ****e). And afterwards we'll probably sell him for an higher price.
Mikey 26-06-2005, 01:18:AM thats smart, to get exposure in CL, but it could also backfire. Brazil also has Juan, Cris and Alex who are very solid CB's, so it wont be that easy. Somehow Roque Jr is the starter though.
I hope Mancini brings in a younger (preferably) Italian defender for the 4th spot. Cesare Natali of Atalanta would be perfect. And if they can find a time machine, they should go back to last summer and sign Ferrari from Parma :D
I still dont understand how Inter are managing to lure Samuel away from Real.
Real are so dumb.
No.
Florentino Perez is an idiot.
It is one of the stupidest things I have seen him do since selling Claude Makelele.
I still have hope it will not happen.
ForzaNerrazurri 26-06-2005, 05:41:AM Gamarra is rumoured to be going to play for Palmeiras.
I hope Materazzi can stay....unless we get Chivu or something.
Mikey 26-06-2005, 06:04:AM Materazzi should leave. He's currently the 3rd choice CB for Italy ahead of WC, and if he remains at Inter his place could be in jeopardy, being that Cordoba-Samuel will most likely be the preferred starting backline. Fiorentina is gonna do big things this season, so this would be a good move.
If Inter get Samuel, thinking of Chivu is just flat our greedy.
I dont understand why Real are willing to release Samuel, just so (from what ive heard) they can free up a non-EU place for Robinho's arrival. They probably have someone lined up, but still they invested a lot in Samuel.
No.
Florentino Perez is an idiot.
It is one of the stupidest things I have seen him do since selling Claude Makelele.
I still have hope it will not happen.
whats the "no" for? (H)
SB9Dragon 26-06-2005, 04:49:PM According to Sportal.it and other sites Burdisso will be back with the team come September. So I guess that kills of any chances of us getting Luisao. Oh well, not like I was extremely interested anywayz. When Samuel is signed that will leave us with 4 guys. Perhaps Mancini will call back Dellafiore to be the 5th defender, upgrade Andreoli to that spot, or perhaps even bring back the super-versatile Potenza. Better we use one of our own guys instead of going out and signing someone else, unless if someone really good becomes available.
ForzaNerrazurri 26-06-2005, 06:31:PM Toldo to stay with Inter
by Nadia Carminati - created on 26 Jun 2005
Francesco Toldo has confirmed that he will remain with Internazionale next year after winning the Coppa Italia trophy to end a disappointing season.
The Italy international was dropped during last autumn as Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini plumped for Alberto Fontana, although regained his starting spot as his side claimed third place in the race for the Scudetto.
Despite his initial troubles the term ended happily for the former Fiorentina man as The Nerazzurri overcame Roma to win the Coppa Italia and add the gloss of silverware to their season.
The 33-year-old, who was linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United during his troubled times, believes that he has earned the chance to prove himself again at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza next season despite his patchy form in the opening months.
"To set aside that phase in October I think I have earned the confirmation, although it seems strange to me to talk about confirmation because I have another year on my contract," Toldo told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"It has been a good season, I won [the Coppa Italia] and I was waiting to do it for four years."
Toldo also took pride in the fact that the club's cup victory was seen in some quarters as merely a prelude to further success in the coming years, and was sure that he had restated his credentials after the sticky patch.
"Probably on a personal level I did better in my first season at Inter, this year I think again I have shown I am a good keeper.
"At this age planning the future isn't important, or anyway it isn't so fundamental.
"Now Inter are doing a really good job.
"The Coppa Italia is snubbed by many clubs but that win didn't arrive casually and I like that many defined it as an appetizer.
"For the moment I challenge everyone in saying that Inter's hasn't been the best football seen in Italy this season."
--
TOLDONE!!!! I'm glad he's staying, he proved to be one of the best goalies in the world, yes world, in the 2nd half of the season. I know some of you wanted Carini to be the starter, but I after the season Toldo had, it would be a shame to give up his spot
ForzaNerrazurri 27-06-2005, 07:31:PM Real reject Inter approach
by Paul Higham - created on 27 Jun 2005
InternazionaleReal Madrid have rebuffed an approach from Internazionale for full back Michel Salgado.
The Italian giants have targeted the Spanish right back and had contacted the Spanish side about a possible move.
However, Real coach Wanderley Luxemburgo is a huge fan of the dynamic Salgado and has often said that he is one of the first names on his team sheet each week.
Salgado penned a contract extension not so long ago, and is currently tied to El Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2010.
Chelsea were interested in Salgado before eventually signing Paulo Ferreira last summer, while Milan have also held an interest in the past.
Real chief Florentino Perez has talked with Inter counterpart Massimo Moratti about Salgado, but each time the answer has been that he is not for sale.
----
Well this is the first time i'm hearing about Salgado :|
SB9Dragon 27-06-2005, 10:26:PM It's obviously a BS rumor. Why would we go after a RB? Heck, this rumor doesn't even deserve any discussion or thought.

Isn't Ceccareli with Fiorentina? I wonder how he did this season (if he's still there). I also wonder if Pandev will ever return to the club. I guess it would only happy if Kily left next season.
Yossarian 28-06-2005, 12:08:AM Inter merda.
Yossarian 28-06-2005, 03:28:PM I wonder what Burdisso's experience on the left might be? We should attempt to convert him if we do end up purchasing a CB this summa.
SB9Dragon 29-06-2005, 06:43:AM Why? Better we actually go out there and get a LB instead of trying to convert a right-footed CB ala Burdisso for that spot. Quick fixes haven't worked, we need an established player, or atleast one who can immediately get the job done. But to be honest we really need a LB who is LEFT FOOTED. It makes things so much easier.
Yossarian 29-06-2005, 12:04:PM Definitely. You make great points there and I'm totally against converting players myself, but Burdisso is dual-footed from what I've heard. It's only a suggestion just in case we can't acquire a worldclass LB.
ForzaNerrazurri 29-06-2005, 06:56:PM Well, this could finally be the end of Bobogol :(
MASSIMO MORATTI ON CHRISTIAN VIERI
Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:49:52
MILAN - Before returning to the Saras offices in Milan this afternoon, Inter patron Massimo Moratti answered questions from journalists about several articles published in today's Italian papers.
"I don't know, I also read the articles this morning. I don't think there's any problem between the coach and the player at all," replied Moratti. "Mancini's desire for any player is linked to performance and Vieri has played very well this year and has performed well nevertheless, even if he might have missed the last few matches because of an injury, but this certainly wasn't his fault.
"I don't think there's a bad relationship. Mancini might have his plans for the Inter attack and the team in general, but I don't think there's a problem between them that means one of them should be excluded."
Moratti said he still hasn't met with Mancini ("I let him have a good holiday") but that he will hear from him. "I don't think it's right to talk about problems at the moment and I don't think there will be any drastic conditions in any sense at all."
On Vieri's absence at the San Siro for the Tim Cup final return leg against Roma, Moratti commented: "I don't know where he was that evening. He might just not have been able to participate. I haven't made any judgement of the matter, neither of a moral or any other type. That evening we forgot about all these things. The important thing was to win the trophy and Vieri made his contribution in the Coppa Italia when it was needed."
Asked if Vieri's contract could be dissolved if all parties are in mutual agreement, Moratti replied: "The idea you are talking about is that everyone is willing so that a certain solution can be reached or not. At the moment we absolutely don't want this. For the moment we are just assessing with those players who have just a year on their contracts what their situation could be, and Vieri is one of these players."
I hope he stays :(
SB9Dragon 30-06-2005, 12:06:AM Well a lot of sites have reported that Vieri intends to leave/Mancini wants him out. From Moratti's interview I'm also getting that vibe. I think Bobo's time at the club might finally be up, and I think doing otherwise (as in keeping him) would be a mistake. He's in the last year of his contract and extending it would be a bad idea with him not getting any better. We need a player that can better partner Adriano. Vieri's wage is also a prob.
Hopefully we can find a club that's not Juve who wants him. Perhaps we'll get more then 7M for him. I sorta doubt it though, because he's in the last year of his contract and he has a pretty big wage.
BTW with the Confederations Cup over (congrats to Golden Boot winner Adriano) I'm hoping that the Solari and Samuel deals are quickly wrapped up.
Yossarian 30-06-2005, 12:12:AM Adriano needs to work on becoming more reliable on his right foot, man.
mark77 30-06-2005, 12:14:AM Don't you think that the Solari and Samuel deal is too easy for you guys? Solari free, Samuel on loan and can get him for cheap later.
I think Madrid said we give you these guys and next year Adriano in Madrid. :(
I want Adriano to stay in Serie A.

Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:16:43
MILAN - Cameroonian player Pierre Nlend Wome has joined FC Internazionale on a one-year contract (expires on 30 June 2006), which was registered at the Lega Calcio offices this morning.
" Wome has been one of our objectives for several months," said technical director Marco Branca and transfer market consultant Gabriele Oriali. "So we are pleased we have done a deal that is technically useful for the team and economically in line with the club's project.
" Wome is still a young player (he turned 26 last 26 March), but he has the right Italian and international experience to best settle down into Roberto Mancini's squad. Wome can cover a number of roles with consistency, and at left-back he has performed to excellent levels, last season and not just, when he was always among the best on the pitch for Brescia."
================================================== =
A one year deal? Weird. I wonder why the management wouldn't sign him for longer then that. Perhaps they want to try him out and then extend next season, or perhaps they've got plans on getting someone big next summer?
Anywayz I've heard a lot of good things about Wome and from the stuff I remember, he's a good solid player who will give Favalli a run for his money for that LB spot. Not Dede, but I guess he will do. Hopefully he silences all his critics and really does a great job next season.
SB9Dragon 30-06-2005, 08:43:PM The club is also heavily linked with Mesto, the Reggina Italian RW. I haven't seen this guy but I've heard that he is a good player, great defensively, and has a bright future in front of him. Since VDM is on his way out I say we should get him. I don't really think that Stankovic will be the RW next year since he isn't a real winger and that's what Mancini is looking for. Karagounis can fight with Mesto for the starting spot.
BTW on Solari, I'm hoping that the price really isn't 12M. I've heard from some sites that he would be coming for free? I wonder how... 12M seems a bit much, but I guess it's not my cash to spend.
Though the most alarming news of the day is that Samuel doens't look likely to come to Inter anymore. Apparently he isn't so keen on joining as some websites have shown him to be. The VP of Real has apparently said he will be staying with the club. Though what I don't get is that the Transfer Consultant guy said that he would be joining us this week. I guess all we can do is wait this one out and see what happens. I'm hoping he does end up joining, but I can't say I'm really optimistic about it.
SB9Dragon 30-06-2005, 08:55:PM Trezeguet out - Vieri in? Thursday 30 June, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juventus are ready to sell David Trezeguet to Chelsea and replace him with Inter’s Christian Vieri.
The latter is reportedly set to be available, as stories suggesting that he will end his five-year Nerazzurri stint this summer gather pace.
Vieri has just 12 months left on his San Siro contract and the club are poised to release him in order to get him off their wage bill.
The Italian international striker is no longer guaranteed a starting shirt, as owner Massimo Moratti confirmed yesterday, and is not part of the club’s future plans as no contract extension has been offered.
Juventus are ready to take advantage of the situation after they initially failed in an attempt to re-sign him 12 months ago, following his season at the Delle Alpi in 1996-97.
Boss Fabio Capello is a massive fan of the 32-year-old and the Turin club would be keen again, especially as no transfer fee would be involved.
His proposed capture would also fit in nicely with the Old Lady’s transfer strategy this summer.
It is no secret that Roma starlet Antonio Cassano is their primary objective but they insist they lack the cash necessary to finance the swoop.
Yet Vieri’s arrival would allow them to cash in on Trezeguet, a reported £30m target for Chelsea who are still looking for a top class forward.
Vieri has also been linked with moves to Milan and Atletico Madrid recently.
================================================== =======
Vieri to Juve? Hope not. The only way I'd be ok with him going there is if they give us Zambro. With Chiellini supposedly against staying with Juve I'm even more convinved it probably wouldn't happen. And oh yeah, we signed Wome so why get Zambro? Unless if he would be signed to play as RW, his original position. If it becomes a straight cash deal then I wonder for how much. Atleast 7M I would think.

Inter release Vieri
Internazionale have cancelled the contract of Christian Vieri, thus paving the way for him to move on.
The Italian international has been linked with a move to England and Tottenham Hotspur in the Italian media.
Vieri endured a difficult season with inter last term, with the player even falling out with the club's supporters.
The former Juventus man failed to hold down a regular place in the Inter side last season due to the emergence of Adriano and Obafemi Martins and Inter have decided to release him from his contract, which still had a year to run.
"Inter and Christian Vieri have mutually decided to rescind the contract that was due to expire on June 30, 2006 early," read a club statement.
"Negotiations between the player and the club progressed smoothly, and the documents related to the issue were registered at the Lega Calcio (Football League) offices this morning (Friday).
"FC Internazionale thank Christian Vieri for having contributed for six seasons to the history of the club.
"Christian Vieri thanks Inter and its fans for the professional respect and affection which characterised the relationship."
The news is sure to alert a number of clubs, with Tottenham thought to be keen on signing the 31-year-old.
It has also been suggested that Chelsea could be interested in the experienced striker, as they look to bolster their attack following the departures of Mateja Kezman and Mikael Forssell this summer.
A number of foreign sides are also thought to be chasing Vieri and there is sure to be no shortage of admirers for the former Lazio man.

SB9Dragon 01-07-2005, 06:12:PM I'm not sad either. I'm actually glad he left. It would have been nice for the club to get some cash out of it, but atleast the club will save the money that would have been spent paying him the huge sum of cash for the final year of his contract. This way the club has more time to go out and get a replacement.
Hopefully Vieri signs with Milan so they can forget about Gilardino. Then perhaps Moratti would actually surprise us all and get him. That would be the day...
BTW there's also reports on Cruz going to Benfica. I sure as hell hope not. If another forward is on their way out then it better be Recoba. Getting Recoba AND Vieri off the wage bill would free up cash to get other players. And I actually think we'd be able to get some cash by selling Recoba.
So down with King Recoba. :rockman:
Moratti1 01-07-2005, 06:18:PM I am sad to see Vieri go who has been an important part of Inter's tactics for many years... Anyone who says he hasn't is a moron. But now it's the Adriano and Martins show and departing with Vieri opens up room and money for someone needed in a certain position as in defense.
ForzaNerrazurri 01-07-2005, 06:20:PM Well it's a very sad day for me. I've been a Vieri fan since his days at Lazio. My favourite footballer of all time. When he joined Inter I was in all my glory, and when I read the headline today it almost brought a tear to my eye. He is 32, and he gave over 100 goals to Inter, so I am glad. I was really hoping he could end his career at Inter, but I am glad he has left on good terms with the club and I wish him the greatest of luck, and I will watch him play for whatever team he joins with.
Thank you Bobo, It's been fun
Yossarian 01-07-2005, 11:00:PM Hey ForzaNerrazurri and to all the other Vieri fans, I apologize for being such an insensitive and ungrateful turd at this time and for ripping bob to shreds like this at this very difficult period for you all. What a total dick I am, eh? I could've used a better choice of words, or have just kept my trap all together shut if I didn't have something half decent to say about this definite inter legend who gave us many great memories to hold on to and enjoy for as long as our faculties are unimpaired and stuff, but I didn't and regret it reading back on my posts, man.
Again, accept my apologies, bros.

MILAN - The futures of three Inter academy players were decided today. Nigerian midfielder Saidi Adeshokan (born in 1984), leaves Inter Primavera to join Swiss second division side Chiasso on loan, while defender Matteo Giordano (1984), just back from Montichiari, moves on loan to Chiasso's league rivals Lugano. After gaining promotion to the Serie B, Mantova have renewed 20-year-old midfielder Nicola Donazzan's loan period.
All the necessary documents related to the three transfer market operations have been registered at the Lega Calcio offices.

On a lighter note, 3 Primavera players have left on loan to some clubs. Out of these 3 I think Adeshokan is the most likely to hit it big. We should keep an eye out on this guy for the future. I've heard some good things on him.

Inter Agree Deals For Samuel And Solari
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter have reached agreement with Real Madrid over the signings of Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari.
Now it is up to the Argentine duo to agree terms with the nerazzurri.
Samuel would arrive on a one-year loan deal, costing Inter two million euros. They would also have the option to purchase the player at the end of the season for 18 million euros.
Solari, who has been close to joining Inter in the past, would arrive on a permanent deal, but like Samuel, must agree personal terms first
Moratti1 03-07-2005, 06:55:PM seems as if Inter may become big players now in the Gilardino campaign with a decent offer today according to Oggi. This could become one of Inter's best summer signings in a long time. If we could get these players we would be set in every position.

Inter close on Madrid men

Internazionale have reportedly reached an agreement with Real Madrid that could see both Walter Samuel and Santiago Solari move to the Nerazzurri.
The Argentine duo must still agree personal terms although Los Merengues appear to have reached an accord with the Serie A side as they look to overhaul their squad.
Both Samuel and Solari are reported to have flown to Milan to thrash out a deal, with an official announcement expected later this week.
27-year-old Samuel has singularly failed to impress at the Bernabeu and is expected to make an immediate return to Italian football after his £16.7 million move last summer.
If he agrees a move to Roberto Mancini's side the deal will constitute a season-long loan, for which Internazionale will fork out €2 million, with the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of around €18 million in 2006.
Solari, a dangerous left-sided winger, turned down a move to San Siro as part of Ronaldo's move to Madrid in 2002, although could now arrive as a free agent as Real look to free up the non-EU slots in their multi-talented squad.
Nerazzurri officials will continue talks on Monday in a bid to agree personal terms with the two Argentinian stars.
Meanwhile Internazionale defender Francesco Coco could be set for a move to The Premiership, with reports in the Italian press suggesting that Bolton have approached the Italian international.
The Trotters are looking to further their full back options after Vincent Candela's departure, although may have to compete with interest from Middlesbrough for the former Milan man.
Coco endured a frustrating season after suffering a bad back injury, and is expected to leave the Nerazzurri with Fiorentina also slated as potential suitors in Italy.

Duo join Gilardino hunt
by Nadia Carminati - created on 3 Jul 2005
Chelsea and Internazionale have reportedly joined the hunt for Parma's in-demand striker Alberto Gilardino.
Milan are in pole position to sign the 22-year-old Italy international and are set to hold talks with Parma regarding his services on Monday.
Inter are keen to bolster their ranks following Christian Vieri's departure and provide superstar Adriano with a world class striking partner.
The Giuseppe Meazza side are believed to be preparing a €22 million bid that includes Giovanni Pasquale, Julio Cruz and Domenico Morfeo, who spent last season with Parma.
The Blues are also in the market for a new striker with Mikael Forssell leaving for Birmingham, Mateja Kezman moving to Atletico Madrid and Hernan Crespo's future uncertain following a year on loan with Milan.
Milan are aware of Chelsea's interest in Gilardino, but the Stamford Bridge outfit have reportedly other irons in the fire and have yet to decide who they will plump for.
"Chelsea, evidently, have other options and will decide what they want to do," explained Milan president Adriano Galliani to the Mirror.
"Chelsea are looking for a striker but haven't found one yet, we'll see what happens."
Meanwhile, Chelsea have handed a trial to Italian teenage defender Raffaele Schiavi.
The 19-year-old, who is also interesting Lazio, has been handed a two-week trial at Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea is a great opportunity. The football in England is spectacular," explained Schiavi.

by Nadia Carminati - created on 4 Jul 2005
Chelsea's search for a striker might be closer to finding an answer after Parma confirmed that Alberto Gilardino could leave for the right price.
Money is no object to the London club, and Parma's sporting director Oreste Cinquini admitted that Parma would not stand in Gilardino's way.
"I think should a big offer arrive from a big club, Gilardino would take it into consideration," said Cinquini. "It's an open situation.
"Parma's position? Should an important owner arrive, it's possible he would decide to keep Gilardino, although at the moment Parma's officials are trying to give a future to the club, passing from the player's sale."
However, should Chelsea pursue the Parma man they will face tough opposition, with Internazionale revealing that they too are monitoring the situation.
"Gilardino? Yes we are following him and I must say that it isn't just a recent interest," said Inter supremo Massimo Moratti.
"He's a really good player and Inter has the duty to take a look."
Cinquini also admitted speaking with Inter about Gilardino, but he expects Chelsea to be the favourites to capture the Italian.
"I've heard from Moratti on more than one occasion," revealed Cinquini.
"I think Milan are always interested but there might be a blitz from another side, not necessarily an Italian one.
"Chelsea, for example, seem to be not satisfied with Drogba's season. Chelsea need a goalscorer."

He won't go to england. In the past he states how he wishes to stay in italy and play in italy only.

I have my doubts, but if it's a permanent deal then that's great.
BTW on Gilardino, I am loving the reported 22M + Cruz + Morfeo + Pasquale deal. Parma would be crazy not to accept. Not only do they get a good amount of cash, but they get a great striker in Cruz, an up and coming Italian LB in Pasquale, and a player who has done really well with them (Morfeo). If they accept then I'd go nutz. Imagine us signing Gila, Samuel, and Solari all in one summer. sensational to say the least.

Id hate to see Real Madrid making a profit from the Samel sale, at the very least I hope Inter pays Real the same they did Roma.
It looks like wherever Gilardino goes he is gonna face some top class players for a starting spot (Mutu, Zlatan and possibly Cassano at Juve... Crespo and Sheva at Milan .. and Adriano, Martins and Recoba at Inter). Chelsea is the only club than can guarentee a starting shirt. I hope Gilardino ends up at Inter as they need more home-grown talent, and he'd be a good replacement for Adriano when he eventually leaves. Roma wouldve been his best option though.
I dont think Solari is much of an improvement, if any, over Van Der Meyde.
SB9Dragon 05-07-2005, 06:56:AM Andy VDM was never really given a chance as a LW under Mancini. He was barely given a chance at all, especially at the end of the season when it was obvious that he wouldn't be around for the next one. So you can't really compare them, Mikey. MILANO - (ANSA) - "He has got where he wanted to go and I certainly couldn't stop him," said Nerazzurri patron about Christian Vieri's transfer to Milan. "I don't feel betrayed, and an attack with Shevchenko and Vieri doesn't scare me."
Moratti excluded that Vieri's Milan move could see Inter step up any interest in Gilardino. "We're fine as we are," continued Moratti. "Vieri's transfer will not affect our transfer market and I think Inter are already strong in attack with Martins and Adriano."
ForzaNerrazurri 05-07-2005, 07:58:PM Very Very interesting interview with Facchetti
FACCHETTI: "WE ARE NEGOTIATING"
Tuesday, 05 July 2005 19:00:42
TAORMINA (MESSINA) - After speaking to Inter Channel programme Mix Zone, Giacinto Facchetti answered questions from journalists in a press conference at the Ata Hotel Capotaormina, where the fourth 'Inter Workshop' is under way.
President Facchetti, Vieri signed a contract with Milan a few hours ago...
"The club decided together with Vieri to cancel the contract, so he was free to join who he wanted. The important decision was the one related to the rescission. Inter don't have any other decisions to make. It was purely his choice."
But couldn't you have signed an agreement stopping Vieri from reinforcing either Milan or Juventus?
"No. First of all because pacts like these don't have any value, and Inter couldn't tell him where to go or where not to go. Also, there weren't many big teams Vieri could have gone to."
Can you imagine the fans' state of mind, particularly for the next derby?
"I can obviously imagine what our fans might think, but what counts is always and only what happens on the pitch. Our fans want to see Inter win in the championship and in the derby; they don't think about other things. And we have great strikers in attack. The important thing is to finish the championship in front of everyone else."
In your days a flagbearer, like Facchetti was, would never have been able to go from one half of Milan to the other …"I have never been in a situation like this. I started my career at Inter and finished it with this shirt. But the situation today is much different from what it was like in my days."
Do you feel that Vieri's choice is a lack of respect for Inter and its fans?
"I won't say anything different from what I have already said. The important decision was to cancel our contract with Vieri. What happened today has nothing to do with us."
Now the fans will be expecting a great striker to join Inter. Will it be Gilardino?
"In attack we have four great champions in Adriano, Cruz, Martins and Recoba. As Inter, we are obliged for follow all the great players, strikers included, to try and improve all the time. And Gilardino is certainly a great player. But there are others, like for example Makinwa and Vucinic."
-he mentioned Vucinic ehh
Why do Milan go looking for players that have played for Inter?
"In recent years several players who didn't do well at Inter have gone to play for Milan. It's difficult to play at Inter because if you play one match badly you lose the faith of the environment and the fans. It was the same in my days. Vinicio, a great champion who won the top scorers' title with Vicenza, came to Inter but was booed after a few matches. The following year he returned to Vicenza and won the top scorers' title for two years in a row. It's very difficult to play for Inter, it always has been, and it always will be because you have to give your best and do well from the start."
How did you decide to cancel Vieri's contract?
"It was a joint decision reached mutually. Not just by one side. The club believed this was the best decision to make."
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has warned about the costs in football and the budgets. What do you think? Do you think these remarks were also directed at Inter for its attitude towards Gilardino?
"The economic problem is one affecting the whole football world. To date, bar a few dealings, agreements have only been signed with players who have come on loan, on free transfers, or who were already out of contract. The budget is everyone's worry. I read Berlusconi's words very carefully and I didn't think the comments were directed at Inter."
President, at what stage are negotiations for Solari and Samuel?
"For Solari it's a matter of hours. There's no agreement with Real Madrid for Samuel at the moment."
Could there be a Figo- Davids swap?
"It's very unlikely."
Did Milan inform you before opening negotiations with Vieri?
"I don't think they needed to. There was no chance to meet in these days. They would have told us if there was."
Do you think football needs to be moralised?
"Yes, I do. When I participate in Uefa's international meetings the managers of teams from other countries look at us reminding us what has happened in our football in recent years. I think an ethical committee should be formed, with three competent, serious and honest people who can help the federation solve these problems."
Will Francesco Toldo be Inter's goalkeeper next year?
"Sure. When we were letting in too many goals it seemed like it was only his fault. In the last five months, when we let in as many as Juventus and Milan, and perhaps even fewer, the merit has been all his. Balance is required. After finding its own balance on the pitch, the team has guaranteed greater security and cover for the goalkeeper. Toldo is a fantastic goalkeeper and his call-up for the 'Football for Hope' charity match in Barcelona last February is further proof of this. There are very few goalkeepers in the world that are at the level of Francesco Toldo, who is still among the best today."
:)
Mikey 05-07-2005, 10:37:PM i just realized with Vieri now gone, Toldo is really the only guarenteed Italian to start. Thats kinda depressing (:/)
I really hope they sign Gilardino

INTER PRESENTS NEW STRATEGIES AT WORKSHOP
Wednesday, 06 July 2005 13:26:37
TAORMINA (MESSINA) - FC Internazionale CEO and managing director Mauro Gambaro presented the club's sponsors and the press with forecast data for the year that has just ended at the 'Workshop 2005 in Taormina.
The club's total revenues, expected to be close to 170m euros, come mainly from TV rights (52%), followed by sponsorship deals (19%), with income of approximately 30m euros from 50 commercial partners (up 7% on last year). This significant increase is due to three main reasons: a better knowledge of the fan base (thanks also to surveys conducted by Global Sponsorship Solutions of Carat Italia group); an efficient monitoring of the visibility of commercial partners' brands carried out with Nielsen Media Research; and integrated management of communications and CRM with Sport X-Tension.
Inter has consolidated its rapport with RCS MediaGroup, with Inter's publicity agency registering a turnover increase of 33%.
Inter's media exposure has increased both in Italy and Europe, with advertising space on domestic channels up by 21%, with 375 hours of programming, and 538 hours on European networks with a total audience of over 5 billion spectators.
Particularly appreciated by Inter's commercial partners and sponsors was the great attention the club pays to social issues through the Inter Campus Worldwide project, which involves over 10,000 children in 14 countries.
To increase revenues the club has identified a number of strategies. Inter intend to accurately profile its fans, increase the club's exposure internationally (with particular attention to China, where there is great interest in the Inter brand) and invest in stadium activities and services.
SB9Dragon 07-07-2005, 12:18:AM The club is on a rise. The next step I would take if I was President would be to sign Hidetoshi Nakata or some other Asian player to bring in more supporters which equals more cash. Sorta like what Man Utd has done. Asia is a goldmine. We may be number 1 (yes, number 1 according to the IFFHS rankings) in China, but it's time to step things up a notch.
SB9Dragon 07-07-2005, 12:21:AM PASQUALE ON LOAN TO PARMA
Wednesday, 06 July 2005 17:14:00
MILAN - Left-back Giovanni Pasquale has completed a loan move from Inter to Parma after spending the second half of the 2004/05 season on loan to Siena. The 23-year-old defender therefore remains in the Serie A after coming through the Inter academy ranks then making his first-team debut in a Champions League match at home to Ajax on 25 September 2002. Since then Pasquale has played 58 competitive matches for Inter.
Striker Nello Russo (born in 1981), remains at Crotone, where he was on loan last season, but is now co-owned by Inter and the Serie B side. Another Nerazzurri youth academy product, Russo made the first of two Inter first team appearances in a Serie A match between Inter-Udinese on 5 December 1999, scoring one goal.
=================================
It's good that Pasquale was loaned out again, especially with Wome signing. I don't really think that Pasquale will ever return and get a starting spot.
Or perhaps Moratti is quietly setting up the pieces to complete the Gilardino transfer puzzle? Morfeo is still at Parma and now Pasquale is over then. If he sends those 2 permanently plus Cruz and cash, then we could make a very good offer for Gilardino.
yoyo913 07-07-2005, 03:28:AM I am really liking Inter's offseason, hope to not jinx it
i'd be happy with getting Samuel and Solari, and rotate martins and recoba (please God!) with Adriano
is Cruz still at Inter?
ForzaNerrazurri 07-07-2005, 03:32:AM Yeah Cruz is still with Inter. He has been linked with Benfica, and Parma (he was brought up in the Gilardino transfer)
Yossarian 07-07-2005, 04:04:PM since he is been injured or not playing regular time for i dont know how long... how can you say that theres no better footballer.. currently?
he is good, but he has some kind of vodoo going on or something :nape:
Well, because he isn't yet retired, is he? Doesn't matter if he's out due to some unfortunate injury or riding the bench. As long as he's still on the roster of some Italian team, he's the best footballler in his position in that league. He's the perfect number 10/fantasista, hell, even more than that because he can play from both wings, up the centre of the midfield in the Pirlo position, support the primary striker, or be the primary striker himself. He provides as well as he creates, man.

SB9Dragon 07-07-2005, 07:57:PM HERNAN SANTIAGO SOLARI JOINS INTER
Thursday, 07 July 2005 19:21:56
MILAN - FC Internazionale have completed the signing of Hernan Santiago Solari. The 28-year-old Argentine midfielder, who had a medical yesterday, signed a three-year contract today that keeps him at the club until 30 June 2008.
============================
I was hoping we'd get both Solari and Samuel at the same time but I guess it will take longer to get Walter.
Anywayz I'm happy Solari joined because he was cheap (between 1.8M - 2.5M) and I'm sure he will do great on the LW. Great signing. Next signing should be Samuel, whenever that happens...
Good-Bye Santi
Best of luck to a great player

Lol, I have been saying this at the start of every season. Hopefully now we grab some serious silverwear.
Yossarian 08-07-2005, 03:24:PM God I hate Veron. We should've released him back to Chelsea and have gone all out after Pizarro, but since he's bumchums with Mancini I guess that was never gonna happen, eh?

Solari was only 2.5m? :|:|:|

Yossarian 08-07-2005, 04:55:PM Yeah, we've been linked with the nigga for quite some time now, hell I even thought we'd signed 'em already. From watching him in the Copa America last year (I think it was him), he really impressed me a lot, especially with his ball distribution skills and reflexes.
We should take this to the Brazilian league thread to get a better overview of both him and his potentially hot siblings........... :hump:
Yossarian 08-07-2005, 05:30:PM I'm gonna equip this thread with a device that allows you to hear every post over the phone next week, brothers. I will also make a suggestion to my sister as soon as she delivers (within the next couple of months) to name her first child after this very thread.
InterMilan2005/2006 Watters.
Rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it?
SB9Dragon 08-07-2005, 08:27:PM We signed Solari for that cheap since he had a special thing in his contract that would force Real to sell him for a really cheap price if any club was interested in him. So they didn't have a choice.
On Julio Cesar, this guy really impressed in the Brazilian League and in the Copa America. I see him more as starting material then Carini. I guess those 2 will be fighting with Toldo for a starting spot. Toldo may still be the number 1 GK going into the year, but he will have to play his butt off to retain his spot. But this will probably be his last season with the side.
But there's still the possibility of Carini being loaned out, which I think might happen.
SB9Dragon 08-07-2005, 08:28:PM MORATTI: "NO HURRY FOR TRANSFERS"
Friday, 08 July 2005 17:04:41
MILAN - "The only thing missing now is a defender, if we need one. However, we're looking, and we have until the end of August. There's no hurry," said Massimo Moratti to journalists this morning. "Chivu? Roma have said he's untransferable."
==============================
I don't like the sound of that. I know the club is in after Samuel, but apparently things aren't about to be concluded quickly, just like I sorta expected. I'm guessing this will drag on into August. If Samuel isn't bought then were screwed because I don't see us getting Rio or Chivu.
ForzaNerrazurri 08-07-2005, 09:04:PM I think loaning out Carini would be good for him. It will give him a chance to get first team playing time, and get him ready for Inter once Toldo leaves.
And what does Moratti mean by no rush... Getting a CB should have been the first transfer we made, because it was needed the most.
I'm still hoping for Samuel

Fiorentina is still monitoring Materazzi, but he has made the trip with Inter for pre-season training. I don't want him to leave. Even if we do get Samuel, we will have Cordoba and Mihajlovic as the other CB's. I can't see Samuel and Cordoba playing every game, so we would have to pick up another lower cost CB if Materazzi leaves.
Moratti1 11-07-2005, 11:34:PM I don't trust sky sports anyways... If it was for them, Figo would be to Liverpool, Robinho would be wearing a Real jersey right now and Samuel would be at the bar with Mancini discussing next years stragedy.

ForzaNerrazurri 12-07-2005, 07:47:PM Inter confirm Figo interest
by Nadia Carminati - created on 12 Jul 2005
Internazionale have confirmed their interest in signing Luis Figo.
The Italian giants were linked with a move for Figo earlier this week and now supremo Massimo Moratti has stated his desire to land the Real Madrid star - who was wanted by Liverpool.
"It's true what the newspapers have said this week," said Moratti.
"Figo is a player that everyone likes but it depends on how he can fit into the mechanism of the squad and how much space he can get.
"I think that Real and the player's wishes are evident, but everything is linked to our transfer market departures."
Inter have also been linked with a £9 million for PSV Eindhoven's Alex - who is owned by Chelsea.
The Blues financed Alex's move to PSV from Santos in 2004, and as such they will decide on his future.
PSV want him to stay, but Alex is now wanted by Inter - should their protracted move for Walter Samuel fail.
Inter are understood to have offered €9 million to Chelsea, but The Blues are not keen on letting the 23-year-old out of their clutches on a permanent basis - so they may allow Alex to move to Giuseppe Meazza on loan.
The Nerazzuri will decide whether to pursue Alex over the coming days, while they continue to negotiate for Samuel.
Another player Moratti is talking with is Udinese's David Pizarro.
The Chilean star appears to be closing on a dream move to Inter.
"The negotiation is not ended yet, although there are only a few details to define," said Moratti.
----
also Emre will sign with Newcastle on friday
davidcfs 12-07-2005, 09:31:PM On a positive note Samuel isn't going on Madrids american tour so this can only mean he should be wearing blue and black any day now :)
ForzaNerrazurri 12-07-2005, 09:32:PM i thought that was because he had nose surgery :(
SB9Dragon 13-07-2005, 01:52:AM I'm expecting Pizarro to be announced an Inter player tomorrow after being rumored to have passed his medical. Awesome. Some guys are arguing that we shouldn't get him because we've got Veron but on the contrary I think having both will only be better. We've got a lot of games and we can definately use them both.
BTW tomorrow is also a major day for Makinwa. His move to either Palermo or Inter hangs in the balance. If we sign him then I guess we are done in the attack. I want Recoba gone, but I guess he's staying, which sucks.
Emre's deal will also be wrappped up this week after having stuff posted on the Newcastle website. Adios I guess.
BTW according to Moratti thinks are looking up for Samuel. Though I wonder why the Inter crew went to Chelsea to talk about that option on Alex. Hmmm... you don't think we are about to sign both of them do you?
Yossarian 13-07-2005, 02:03:PM Vieri gone, do you guys think Inter should buy another or be content with the 4 they have? (which could easily be 3 if/when Recoba gets injured again)
You're always bitching about the clutter in the Inter squad and rightfully so, but not long after we make some space with the Vieri departure you're having thoughts about signing another forward? We should be more than content with what we've got, man. Cruz would be a starter for almost all other Serie A teams, Martins has made great progress in his finishing and first touch, and King Recoba and Adriano link up the best out of all the forwards we've have/had. If one of them goes down, we should just call up a youth player to fill the bench and have the other two share the injured forward's playing time.
Does anybody know how much Inter paid Chelsea for Veron? I'd start Pizarro over him at this point.
I don't think we paid a dime for him other than being burden with his massive wages for another two years. It's an odd two-year loan deal.
Juve seems willing to part with Chiellini, Inter should get the fack on that immediately.
It'd be sweet if we could work out a deal involving him and C. Zanetti.
SB9Dragon 13-07-2005, 04:44:PM If we trade CZ out then we'd have to go out and get another DM to be Cambiasso's backup. Also, I'm not so keen on giving Juve CZ, a player that would probably fit perfectly in their team, even if Chiellini would be coming the other way. BTW isn't he a LB only?
SB9Dragon 13-07-2005, 04:49:PM Makinwa has signed with Palermo for 7.5M. Luckily we didn't get him, that cash can no go to other transfers instead. But we are still left without a striker to replace Vieri. IMO we still need 1 because we only have 3.5 strikers (Recoba, the injury machine is that .5) Cruz is good, but he's best as a backup.
Names that have popped are Montella and Salas. Montella would be a nice addition, but I can't see it happening with Roma under their transfer embargo. If they sold him to us, who could they bring in to replace him? No one. So why would they sell him?
Salas seems morel likely, and that sucks. He's past his best years. Though what makes him a possible addition is that he's played under Mancini in the past, so Mancini knows him, and also he would be a free transfer. That sure would be something to see him join, but even so I don't want us signing him. Too risky. But who? Staying with our current 4 + a Primavera striker isn't good enough.
SB9Dragon 13-07-2005, 04:50:PM Inter close in on Pizarro
Wednesday 13 July, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter are close to finalising the transfer of David Pizarro from Udinese.
Once that deal is concluded it is thought they will then set their sights on the capture of Luis Figo from Real Madrid – with the Portuguese star showing plenty of encouragement.
“I have won with Barcelona. I have won with Madrid. Now, I want to win with Inter”, Figo told Inter patron Massimo Moratti, alleges the Tuttosport.
Moratti has also talked up the transfer in the wake of Liverpool’s deal for Figo falling through.
“It is true, we are interested in Figo,” stated Moratti. “However, everything hinges on the rest of our transfer dealings.”
“As for the Pizarro transfer - we are close. And the fee is similar to that speculated in the Press, cash and part-ownership of Goran Pandev.”
The player has already passed his medical and Pizarro’s agent Fernando Hidalgo commented: “Pizarro is looking forward to signing, and would like to thanks both Udinese and Inter for their efforts”
Yossarian 13-07-2005, 05:09:PM If we trade CZ out then we'd have to go out and get another DM to be Cambiasso's backup. Also, I'm not so keen on giving Juve CZ, a player that would probably fit perfectly in their team, even if Chiellini would be coming the other way. BTW isn't he a LB only?
As much as I love CZ, I prefer Davids to him. I don't think you should be playing down the importance of acquiring an already worldclass LB (without the notoriety mind you) especially since we've been after one since the Simone/Lippi era, man. I only care about taking care of that position once and for all and I don't feel that CZ would be much of a price to pay for 'em.
Also, we've got Dino Marino coming up the ranks in the DM position.....who do we have in the LB position? Half-decent fullbacks nevermind worldclass/legends-to-be are the hardest to find in football by far and away, man.
Mikey 13-07-2005, 07:30:PM You're always bitching about the clutter in the Inter squad and rightfully so, but not long after we make some space with the Vieri departure you're having thoughts about signing another forward? Ya, on most teams 4 top quality strikers is more than enough. But Recoba is always injured and Adriano has also had some injury problems over the past couple years. I'm not saying Inter should go after some $25M striker or anything like that (unless they include Cruz in deal). I think they should stay with 4 until January and than sign one if need be. I as much as you would like to see Recoba have a monster season and lead Inter to scudetto, but we gotta be practical. I actually think Recoba more than anything else symbolizes Inter.
He has a huge contract <-> Inter is always splashing out money for new players
ever year people say he has the talent to have a monster season <-> every year people say Inter will scudetto.
And yes, Inter has way too many midfielders. If Figo and Pizzaro both arrive, than they gotta clear house. Karagounis, Emre, Van Der Meyde (hopefully stays in Italy or on loan), Kily Gonzalez and Davids all have to go. If they keep any of these guys (and i think Kily will stay), than thats too many players, and problems will arrive.
That would leave Veron, Stankovic, C Zanetti, Cambiasso, Pizarro, Figo and Solari playing for 7 spots. and if somehow everybody goes down with injuries, J Zanetti, Ze Maria and even Recoba can fill in.
I still think thats too much talent, and too much much players expecting starting minutes and enough places to satisfy them. Figo is a world class player, but im not sure his arrival is that much needed and whether keeping VDM would be a better option as he'd better handle being benched.
I also dont think Inter has this LB crisis some of you are claiming. Sure they could afford to have a world class player there, but its not like Favalli had a terrible season last year. He's a solid player, and with the arrival of Wome I think theyre content.
They should really be focusing on Samuel before Pizarro or Figo arrivals.

Cool. I like the waiting until January idea.

He's generously taken two hefty paycuts.....what more do you want from him?
ever year people say he has the talent to have a monster season <-> every year people say Inter will scudetto
I like this analogy of yours of club and player, but when you've been largely under-used, mis-used and have past/current managers of the club conspiring against you (plus the freakish injuries) it's pretty difficult to live up to those expectations.
I also dont think Inter has this LB crisis some of you are claiming. Sure they could afford to have a world class player there, but its not like Favalli had a terrible season last year. He's a solid player, and with the arrival of Wome I think theyre content.

Favalli is 33 now, he's barely worthy of coming off the bench let alone starting for us in my opinion. He always gets caught out of position when he decides to go forward, terrible at tracking back and can't make half-decent crosses worth a damn. I was never keen on Samuel (despised him in his Roma days) but if we can get this five yellow cards a month averaging dirty twat on a loan or at a bargain based price, cool, if not, let's just concentrate on securing a quality LB............Chiellini
tooOLDo, please do the right, the right thing on behalf of Inter's future successes this coming season and pass those gloves over to either Carini or Cesar immediately, man.

According to reports, Dalmat has joined Racing Santander of Spain on a 5 year contract. I haven't seen anything officially announced on Inter.it, but I'm guessing it's only a matter of time because he isn't coming back. Which also sucks. If he didn't have an attitude prob, and if he only did what his coaches told him to then he could have been great with us.

Concerning Dalmat. Hopefully he'll use his time in the Spanish league wisely and use his club he's going to as a stepping stone and have an oustanding season there because his talents are worthy of most big clubs in Europe, man. Creativity in abundance, awesome dribbler, strong on the ball, can make just about any pass required of him with both feet.....*sigh*
Mikey 14-07-2005, 07:11:PM I dont think Emre deserves a solo, whether its a banjo or not. Ya, he had some potential, but so does every other bust Inter has bought under Moratti.
Inter friggin suck at transfer business. How much players have they bought for $5M+ and than a couple later either loan them out repeatedly, cancel contract or sell for peanuts.
with Juve signing Viera you know Moratti wont let him steal all the spotlight like that.
Yoss good point about Favalli's age, i thought he was only 31, but 33 is ridiculous. How did you not like Samuel at Roma? he was one of the best CB in Italy every season.

This is just the beginning to some big signings, I can feel it. The next signing will probably be Figo (if he doesn't really go to Liverpool). I still think Samuel's deal will drag into August. But who knows, perhaps Moratti might pull another quicky on us. We still could use a replacement for Vieri.

hurhurhur.......ok, no solo for Emre then although I think you're being too harsh on the poor bastard. He came to us as a 20-21yr old who was regarded as one of the best prospects in all of Europe to an already jam-packed squad under a very defensive minded coaching regime, man. The #10s aren't really suited for Italy......almost all of them either compromise and convert their true position, or simply aren't given the complete freedom to roam as they please in order to have success....it's really not only a terrible situation for the league but also Italian football aswell.
Mikey 14-07-2005, 10:11:PM Zidane, Rui Costa, Totti, Baggio, Veron (Lazio/Parma days) and some im forgetting have all done fine
Pizarro and Pirlo are not conventional n.10's, but have done well. Morfeo has been a very underrated playmaker the past 2 seasons.
I can only hope Riquelme comes to Italy in the near future, the guy is MADE for the Serie A
Yossarian 14-07-2005, 10:40:PM Definitely there are dozens more, but for those dozens, there are probably countless more who've been hampered by the defensive mindedness of the Italian league. How many of them besides Zidane play/played behind the striker and solely concentrated on playmaking instead of attacking more than 50% of the time like a forward? I can't think of many teams who play a system geared towards the #10. Pirlo actually came through the Inter ranks as a forward/playmaker a la Baggio and played there some of the times coming off the bench, but look how deep back he plays now at AC.
The only classical playmakers on that list are Rui/Zidane and Totti(even he plays further up than Cassano at times) . Pizarro/Pirlo= deep playmakers/DMs. Even Veron had defensive duties at Lazio and played deep like he does at Inter now. Mancini played that role more traditionally.
Mikey 14-07-2005, 11:08:PM Well, you cant just say its the Serie A who's deprived of such a player. There arent a lot of pure n.10's out there to begin with, thats what makes them so special and coveted.
If youre gonna say the Serie A is deprived of playmakers, when theyve had the likes of Totti, Zidane and Rui Costa, who has the EPL had? Even at their best Arsneal and UTD never really played with playmakers, just attacking midfielders and wing play. I think right now Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only teams that rely on a single playmaker for attack
For some reason, i think this whole argument is somehow tied to King Recoba and the monster season ahead. (C)
I think right now Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only teams that rely on a single playmaker for attack
I don't think we are based on a single playmaker.
If you want a team that really is based on one playmaker it is Villarreal with Juan Román Riquelme. :)
Mikey 14-07-2005, 11:23:PM ya i know about Villareal, i forgot to mention that I was only meaning 'big' teams.
Parma's whole attack last season was built around Morfeo creating for Gilardino

Im not sure wether I understand you but are you saying that Pirlo is part of the Inter youth system?
Nope. He's started at Brescia. And he actually was a deep playmaker (not as deep as now though). When he came to Inter he was used as you said, a forward/playmaker.
Yossarian 15-07-2005, 05:41:PM Well, you cant just say its the Serie A who's deprived of such a player. There arent a lot of pure n.10's out there to begin with, thats what makes them so special and coveted.
You make a great point about the Serie A not being alone in this, but I disagree that they're a rare commodity in today's game. Coaches who are willing to play a system that's favourable to a free roaming fantasista who won't be burden with too much of a defensive role are the rarity, you know? You now see them playing very deep, pressing like a DM, operating out of the wings, or playing very advanced like the Henry's of the world instead of just simply concentrating on playmaking from the middle of the pitch.
If youre gonna say the Serie A is deprived of playmakers, when theyve had the likes of Totti, Zidane and Rui Costa, who has the EPL had? Valid point here aswell, but I was only really referring to the Serie A. A league that's always prided itself on having the best playmakers in the world. The fantasista has been a part of the Italian game since the Mazzola days......Altafini, Meazza, Zola, Rivera,Boniperti, Causio, Antognoni, Sivori, Capello, Mancini, Chiesa, Del Piero, Baggio, ,,,,,,Totti.............and these are just the Italians, nevermind the foreigners........that position is part of the fabric of Italian football. The English play more direct , with a lot of attention being made to the flanks with a lot more long ball play. That sort of game just doesn't allow for more single purpose, creative players. At Arsenal, It's been Bergkamp, Manu?.........hmmm.....................Scholes? A bit of a stretch maybe.......Giggs and Ronaldo would be better suited if they weren't wingers.
For some reason, i think this whole argument is somehow tied to King Recoba and the monster season ahead.
hurhurhurhur................My great optimism concerning King Recoba is really nothing but a tired put on.....if he's still an Inter player come the start of the season, he'll only have a last 15mins type of a role to look forward to....if that at all. I get the feeling Mancini doesn't like 'em much.
']Im not sure wether I understand you but are you saying that Pirlo is part of the Inter youth system?
Nope. He's started at Brescia. And he actually was a deep playmaker (not as deep as now though). When he came to Inter he was used as you said, a forward/playmaker.
You are absolutely correct, bro. I stand corrected. I've always had the wrong impression that he'd been recalled from elsewhere and was an Inter youth product and never really bothered to verify it because I felt proud in the thought of him joining his boyhood club as a pre-teen and working his way up through the ranks and stuff.
:jap:
Debut: [21-May-1995] Reggina 2-0 Brescia(Serie A)...........Da prooof.....three years before he actually joined us.
Mikey 15-07-2005, 06:04:PM You make a great point about the Serie A not being alone in this, but I disagree that they're a rare commodity in today's game. You now see them playing very deep, pressing like a DM, operating out of the wings, or playing very advanced like the Henry's of the world instead of just simply concentrating on playmaking from the middle of the pitch.
I think one of the main reasons you may see less playmakers is because in todays game, its a sacrifice many coaches are unwilling to make. I hate to bring him up again, but I think Morfeo is the perfect example of this 'dying breed' of playmakers. I dont think anyone can doubt he's one of the best playmakers in Italy, and maybe Europe as well, but after that he doesnt offer too much. Just to appease his abilities and let him roam freely, Parma has had to play a single striker and jam pack the midfield to compensate, including two holding midfielders behind him. I think this is probably the reason he never was able to cut it at Inter, as at the highest level, and maybe especially in Italy, you just cant afford to have a midfielder who wont play both ways. I think Morfeo has as much class as the best players out there, he just doesnt have a complete game.
Another example I can give is Nakamura, who I think is very underrated. You'd think a player of his ability would be a automatic starter on a club like Reggina, but it isnt the case. A team like Reggina who have to scrape away for results cant afford the luxury to play someone like Nakamura for the full 90 minutes, which is why youd often see him come on as a second half sub to inject some creativity instead of playing from the start. Its a shame he's leaving the Serie A.
I'd mention Nakata, but I think hes sh*t.

Figo recommended Serie A
by Nadia Carminati - created on 16 Jul 2005
Figo's future at Real Madrid is currently unclear after losing his first-team place at El Santiago Bernabeu.
Rui Costa knows Figo is unhappy in Madrid and believes he should consider joining Inter if an offer comes to fruition.
"I spoke to him before the summer holidays," said Rui Costa to Corriere dello Sport. "Even then I understood that he wasn't feeling good at Real.
"I hope he will come to Milan. It's clear the feeling between him and Real is not the same it was in the past.
"Figo at Inter? Yes, I'd be happy for him as a friend, but not as an opponent. Surely Inter is one is the most interesting offers for him."

Inter close to Real pair
Monday 18 July, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Real Madrid duo of Walter Samuel and Luis Figo will join Internazionale by the end of this week.
The two men have been linked with the Serie A giants for some time and Football Italia understands that talks will be wrapped up by Wednesday.
Although Inter chief Massimo Moratti has denied reports that he will be flying to Madrid to conclude talks personally, an agreement for both players is on the horizon.
Real emissaries and FIFA agents Ernesto Bronzetti and Peppino Tirri will today resume their work in an effort to finalise the last minor details.
Figo, a Portuguese international winger, will arrive on a free transfer as his Real contract expires next summer.
The former European Footballer of the Year will sign a two-year contract at the San Siro worth around £2.5m a season.
It’s still unclear whether Samuel will arrive on loan or whether he will be signed outright by the Nerazzurri.
The main delay in the Argentine’s transfer is that the Spanish giants are struggling to sign a replacement.
However, once they do finally bring in a new stopper then the former Roma man will make his return to Serie A.
==================================
Even though I'm not all hyped up about Figo joining, I guess he will be a good addition. I still question whether he will be able to play as well in the Serie A though.
But the thing that bothers me the most is the amount of players that will have to be moved just to make space for him. Van der Meyde is pretty much doomed, and I'm betting Karagounis might leave as well, unless if Kily is sold and Stankovic switches to the LW to fight for a spot against Solari.
And then there was The Wall. Hopefully, oh hopefully, his transfered is wrapped up this week because I'm sick of waiiting. The longer things go on, the greater chance of talks completely breaking down. But I'm still hoping by the end (of this week) that Figo and Samuel will be training with the rest of the guys at Riscone di Brunico.
SB9Dragon 18-07-2005, 04:52:PM Ballack to the future
Monday 18 July, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter have reportedly convinced Michael Ballack to leave Bayern Munich for the San Siro outfit in the summer of 2006.
The German international will be a free agent next July and he has already hinted that he is looking for a new club.
"I am very happy here but I think the time has arrived for me to try playing for a great European club," he recently stated. "It is a question of stimulus."
Stories in the peninsula on Monday morning claim that the Nerazzurri have already struck a deal with the central midfielder.
The former Bayer Leverkusen sensation, who has spent the last five years with Bayern, has been tempted by Inter’s three-year contract offer.
Ballack, who will be hoping to lead his country to World Cup glory next summer, has been linked with Inter in the past.
It is believed that Ballack has been targeted given that Juan Sebastian Veron has made no secret of his desire to return to Argentina in 12 months.
Nerazzurri fans will be hoping that Ballack can make as a big an impact as Lothar Matthaus. The legendary German helped the club win their last Scudetto in 1989.
======================================
Ballack to Inter? As a free agent? Awesome. I actually believe that this might be true. Imagine Ballack joining early next year as perhaps our first addition. That sure would be something. Hopefully it's true.
SB9Dragon 18-07-2005, 04:57:PM Inter warn Zanetti admirers
Monday 18 July, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter have labelled Cristiano Zanetti as "untransferable" after the midfielder was linked with a move to Fiorentina.
The player’s future at the San Siro has been put into doubt following the arrival of David Pizarro from Udinese.
But the Italian giants insist that the former Roma ace, who is also liked by Juventus, is not for sale.
"The player is not on the market and that won’t change even if an offer arrives," director Lele Oriali told the Fiorentina.it website.
"He is a player who Inter regard as absolutely untransferable, therefore he will not be leaving the city of Milan.
"Fiorentina? I’m not aware of any offer but even if one did arrive it would not be considered by us."
While a Florence move for Zanetti seems to have been ruled out, Reggina’s Santos Mozart is still a possible target.

Inter on Ballack's trail
by Nadia Carminati - created on 18 Jul 2005
Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack is being courted by Internazionale.
The Germany international's future is uncertain as he only has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena.
Ballack has refused to sign an extension and has hinted at a desire to leave Die Bundesliga after next year's World Cup in his homeland.
Reports in Italy claim that Inter are hoping to sign Ballack on a free transfer next summer and have already settled on a general accord with the 28-year-old.
Bayern's top brass are determined to cajole Ballack into signing a new contract and club president, and former Inter star, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has added his voice to the debate.
"We hope to convince Ballack to sign the contract extension and stay with us," said Rummenigge.
"We know about his will to have new experiences. Me, too, at the age of 29 I chose a new experience in Italy.
"Bayern's plans are centred on Ballack and they are the same for the future, too. We will see."
Inter are ready to offer the former Bayer Leverkusen ace a three-year contract but could face competition from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been strongly linked with the free-scoring Ballack with Sir Alex Ferguson keen to add an experienced midfielder to his squad.
Rumours suggest that United officials will meet their Bayern counterparts in Japan at the end of the month with both clubs playing pre-season friendlies in the capital Tokyo.
Ballack's agent Michael Becker could also be in the Far East for discussions but concedes he is not going to be embroiled in a protracted saga.
Becker told tz: "I am not going to go out there for a negotiation marathon."

SB9Dragon 18-07-2005, 10:53:PM As interesting as it would be to add Ballack, I've thought about it and I guess it'd be best if we didn't. He'd want to start and with Cambiasso deserving a spot, and Pizarro already brought in to replace Veron, there wouldn't be a point to sign him. It's also unlikely that Mancini will switch to a diamond formation so that all 3 of them could play.
But who knows? This summer isn't over and there's a whole year before he could sign. Perhaps other moves will be made to clear up space.

ForzaNerrazurri 19-07-2005, 10:05:PM Sagnol interests Inter
by Nadia Carminati - created on 19 Jul 2005
Internazionale are on the trail of Bayern Munich full back Willy Sagnol.
The France international is being tracked by several clubs across the continent with Valencia confirmed admirers of the defender.
But Inter have now emerged as suitors of the 28-year-old, with Sagnol open to the possibility of a move to Italy.
Sagnol has seen former Bayern team-mates Samuel Kuffour and Robert Kovac head to Serie A and it is an adventure he would consider.
"I know that Inter are one of the teams interested in me," said Sagnol.
"Maybe after Kuffour and Kovac, sooner or later, I will go to the Italian league.
"Trezeguet and Thuram have spoken to me about Serie A in a really good way."
Though Inter are admirers of Sagnol, their current priorities in defence are to sign Walter Samuel and Cristian Chivu.
Bayern would also be reluctant to lose the right back as they are hoping to persuade Sagnol to sign an extension to his contract which expires next summer.
Mikey 19-07-2005, 10:21:PM Unless he can play LB as well, itd be a waste. Why are Inter being linked with RB's when they have Zanetti and Ze Maria.

It is well known that Roberto Mancini wants a new striker, and Marco Di Vaio would certainly bring proven quality. Di Vaio was even named as a possible recruit.
"I have played in great cities such as Rome (Lazio) and Turin (Juve), now I hope to go to the third," said the former Bianconero.
"Inter? I do sincerely hope that it happens. I was already close to joining them three years ago and it would be great to finally do so now."
Alvaro Recoba’s destiny still remains in the balance, though is enormous wages could make a move impossible, and Inter want to bolster the attacking ranks.
New Valencia coach Quique Flores had said he hoped all his strikers, bar Bernardo Corradi, would remain at the Mestall, but an all-Italian clearout for the Che is still a possibility.
Still, it remains to be seen whether Di Vaio, should he join the Nerrazzuri, could usurp the dynamite Obafemi Martins as a partner for Adriano. If Di Vaio signed on it is unlikely he would tolerate a mere squad rotation role.
================================================== ======
Would be a great signing for Inter if they could get him for under $6M. I think hes a perfect partner for Adriano, more complete and ready for the big stage than Martins.
He played for valencia this weekend in Intertoto Cup, would that make him cup tied for entire season? if so i dont see deal happening, at least not until January when Inter can judge whether the 4 they currently have is enough.
Voltaic Borusse 19-07-2005, 11:26:PM would that make him cup tied for entire season?
Nope.
Mikey 19-07-2005, 11:29:PM looked it up... youre right (C) :jap:
just has to not play in semi's i guess
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup-tied
I think a VDM for Di Vaio swap would be possible
ForzaNerrazurri 20-07-2005, 01:14:AM I would love to see Di Vaio come to Inter. He's better then Corradi, and we could use another striker. I just don' feel 100% safe with Cruz and Recoba.
ForzaNerrazurri 20-07-2005, 06:23:PM Ballack move talk Wednesday
Inter target Michael Ballack has moved a step closer to leaving Bayern Munich.
Reports in Italy suggest that the Nerazzurri are keen to sign Ballack when his contract with the Bundesliga champions ends in 2006.
However, they may now look to make their move this summer after recent comments from Bayern director of football Uli Hoeness.
“When people start talking about contracts of more than €10m I just don't understand the world any more,” Hoeness stated.
“Surely nobody believes Ballack earns more than €4m or thereabouts? And we're supposed to be considering more than doubling that?
“We insist on sporting success being tied to financial prudence. The point may come when we have to say no.”
The 28-year-old is considered to be the most influential player in German football.
He has already led Bayern to numerous domestic honours and he was crucial in Germany’s run to the 2002 World Cup Final.

TWO MORE PLAYERS MOVE ABROAD
Wednesday, 20 July 2005 15:44:02
MILAN - The documents relative to the transfer abroad of two more Inter players were registered at the Lega Calcio offices this morning. After the loan moves of Sabri Lamouchi to Olympique Marseille and Gonzalo Sorondo to Charlton Athletic, and Emre Belozoglu's permanent transfer to Newcastle United, French midfielder Stephan Dalmat has completed a permanent move to Spanish club Racing Santander. Dalmat, who made 65 appearances for Inter, was on loan to French outfit Toulouse last season.
After spells on loan to Parma and Chievo which saw him win a place in the Italian U21 squad, defender Alessandro Potenza (1 Coppa Italia appearance for Inter after coming up through the Nerazzurri academy ranks) has moved on loan to Spanish club Real Mallorca, coached by former Nerazzurri boss Hector Cuper.
---------
Also Dino Marino was loaned out to Arezzo of Serie B (Y) Hope he does well for them.
PS: I can't get enough of Toldo's new look

I have a question. Can said player (Ballack) be repeatedly linked with said club (Inter) if the stories coming out have absolutely no relation between the two, but only based on the hunch of the journalist? I keep seeing these 'Ballack to leave Bayern for Inter' stories coming out, only to read on and see nothing mentioned about Inter, just that contract talks are stalling. Just because you say 'Inter target', doesnt really mean anything. I expect this from the fine folks at 'goal.com', but channel4 is better than this
He's as close to joining Inter as he is to the Toronto Lynx
With a shaved head Toldo looks like a delirious 70 year old man (C)
SB9Dragon 21-07-2005, 07:00:AM A quick review of my thoughts on todays "events."
Inter beating Bolzano 3-0: Wow, Choutos scored. Diarra (Youth team LW) kicks ass
Inter beating Juve 1-0 and Milan 5-4 on PKs in the TIM Cup: Kickass. A good victory, good play by the team, good performance by Pizarro, Solari and Wome did alright, beating our enemies is always good on any level, hopefully it's a preview of what's to come.
Being linked to Ballack again: I doubt that he will come this season or even next, I sorta expect him to stay with Bayern. Anywayz we don't have space or the proper formation for him.
Being linked to Sagnol: We don't need a RB, simple as that.
Being linked to Di Vaio: I think he's the best player we can get on the market without tons of hassle. I also expect that he'd be cheap. We could also send them VDM in exchange. That would be a perfect deal.
Dalmat officially to Racing Santander: Had talent, but complained too much. Could have solved our LW probs a while back but acted like a kid. Adios
Beati and Marino to Arezzo on part ownership deals: Good idea, this way Arezzo will be more encouraged to give them time, instead of them just being loanees.
Potenza to Mallorca on loan: Good I guess. This way he can continue to play, but it would have been better if he had stayed in the Serie A. Atleast he'll get instructions from Cuper which is good.
Toldo's new haircut: He looks 40 years older when he smiles. :funny:
