View Full Version : Best Player Ever?
aussie 1860 supporter 10-10-1999, 10:18:AM OK, we've heard your answers to the best teams, and your basically euro-favoured, but the player of all time ahs to go to PELE?
nah, the mozambique born Eusabio gets my pick, just ahead of argetine Di Stefano,
PELE a brazilian as well is third, but htats just hype.
and best players of all time are usually forwards, give the defenders some credit!
J.Karlsson 14-10-1999, 07:55:PM 1. Pelé of course!!
no doubt!
2. Maradona
3. Beckenbauer
4. Cruyff
5. Platini
Then come, I think, Di Stefano, Eusebio,
Puskas in no particular order.
And why not give the keepers some credit?
Yashin, Banks, Zoff, Zamora, Maier...
SIMPLY MARADONA http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif)

11. Zico
12. Fransescoli
13. Eusibio
14. Dalglish
15. Sir Stanely Mathews
my list is biased towards those I have seen on video or are most familiar with. Man there are thousands of greats.
Bolso 29-12-1999, 02:58:PM Pele (Brazil) as player and Mazurkieviez (Uruguay) for Gk.
GOONERBHOY 30-12-1999, 08:03:AM I don`t understand why so many people underestimate Modern day footballers.
My Picks
1] Dennis Bergkamp (Dutch)
2] Jimmy Johnstone (Scottish)
3] Ryan Giggs(welsh)Kenny Dalglish(Scottish)
4] Tony Adams(English)
5] John Collins(Scottish)/George Best(Irish)
GOONERBHOY: You a perfect example of the marketing-boy! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
1) Because the understand soccer
2) Because they know soccer is an World sport.
3) Because I player to be one of the best they need to play at least 10 great seasons;
show their skills against the best in the world, not against the best at their leagues(to be worst at the best is better then best at the worst);
Be the best for all the soccer schools around the world.
4) Because modern players have much more marketing, they play 1 good season and became the number 5 at the list. 2 and they are number one! A player that din't show their skills at a WC or at Copa America ou Euro, could not be at top 50.
5) Because they saw this players playing. To say things like that you didn't whatch Pele, Maradona, Puskas playing. The soccer you know today, the soccer you like and say is better then yesteday, was made, "invented" by the players you think are not good.
I am sorry for, you don't know what are you missing... How could Puskas play what he plays with that stomach?!?! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
1) Pele
2) Puskas
3) Maradona
4) Di Stefano
5) Cruyff
6) Garrincha
7) Eusebio, Didi, Dajalma, Leonidas, Platini.
1) Yashim better keeper!
2) Banks
3) Felix
Mazurkieviez - Didn't see he playing but heard many good historys...
christos 31-12-1999, 03:17:PM MARADONA of course...some of you may disagree
but i believe if he had not been caught taking drugs, there would be absolutly no doubt at all that he is the best...well was the best
GOONERBHOY 03-01-2000, 01:39:AM Oh sorry Lord didn`t know the rules, you see once again i posted my opinions instead of what poeple want to hear, hahaha.
next time i`ll do it to try and please people haha.
I will not explain for the third time what I said GOGOBOY, ask your teacher to help you.
PS: I never said that, It was your mind - "Scotland made the best players in the world" that understand that.
Do not try to put words in others mounth, just because you don´t know about soccer past (outside Great Britain) and could not talk about that.
PS2: Instead of children comments, pls show your ideas debating about my points.

aken99 06-01-2000, 08:40:PM Gooner & Lord,
you have got each other into a petty battle and are BOTH acting like children.
Face facts, older players were good players but modern players are just as good and perform under harder conditions and don't go starting up about 'but they get paid £100,000a week!'.
Modern players are much more technical and so are more entertaining but, older players had that hardness that u don't get today.
Take what u like from this but please first grow up.
Tks mother! I will make my homework after the game!!!
I think you change the words. Today game is much more hard, physical.
If you are talking about "raça", wish to play, I agree.
PS: Why the guys who saw the games at 60', 70', 80' and 90' always take the best players from 60'and 70' (Platini and Maradona from 80'), and the Guys who only saw mid-80' and 90' games take the best players from there?
Because we that didn't saw the games (only by video) know more?
faplfm2000 24-05-2000, 06:36:AM Cruyff is definitely the best.
Icabola 31-05-2000, 04:22:PM -Eusebio

celtic fc 19-06-2000, 08:51:AM 1)Jimmy Johnstone
2)Di Stephino
3)Maradonna
4)George Best
5)Kenny Dalglish
In my opinion these are 5 of the best players of all time, I may have been a wee bit biased. These are the players I have actually seen kick a ball.
Schumacher 19-06-2000, 10:06:PM Best - come on! The name says it all!
gaucho 30-06-2000, 01:14:AM Maradona, no doubt about it.
why better than pele? well, both won important things, but maradona won those titles without any amazing team around him
you can name one or two above the aveage players in argentina 86 or napoli, but not more than that.
While Pele had on eof the best group of forwards(and even midfielders) of the history
C Bone 09-07-2000, 08:44:PM I think the best Soccer player ever is
1. ME
2. Myself
3. Irene
Eric69 14-07-2000, 01:43:AM Hmm best ever tough one to me...but here are my picks
1) Pele
2) R.Baggio
3) Marandona
Ok to save 10 billion posts that will flame me...I picked baggio because He Led Italy to 2 world cup apperances, Yes he had a GREAT team around him, prob one of the best world cup teams ever in 98 even though they lost to brazil in a very debated match. Also the guy played most of the WC 98 with a severly pulled hamstring and not to tell you he played extremly well in WC 98. And for all of you who are gonna say "Oh italy lost the WC because he kick the ball over the net in the penalty kicks for WC 98" Well the guy did have a extremly pulled hamstring but you cannot blame 1 man for losing a game where the rest of his team choked.
As for Maradona..Only reason i put him in is because he was a good player Who was helped by the taking of Drugs and any player in my book who uses drugs is not a GREAT player!
Debate my picks!
quaid 16-07-2000, 07:41:PM My list is :
1- Pelé ( the most complete, king in the age of kings (Garrincha, Di Stefano , Charlton,Cruyff , Best)
2- Maradona
3- Cruyff
4- Beckenbauer
5- Di Stefano
6- Charlton
7- Zizinho
8- Garrincha
9- Eusebio
10- Romario ( 700 goals scored )
And I can't stand those English saying theyr players are the best. They're too arrogant. the only good is Owen . the rest just kick the ball , coz they're too afraid to control it.
FIFA RTWC Webmaster 26-07-2000, 03:19:PM No list here... Three simple names...
1. Diego
2. Armando
3. Maradona
