You did a nice job with the first post (Y)
Hopefully, OM will finish on top next season, this year they were full of bad luck. When's Barthez' suspension ending?

Oh yeah I totally agree, last season he did very good games on his left wing with us, better than Koji Nakata and maybe Lizarazu.. I think he'll play more, and the new coach, Jean Fernandez, believe in him after seeing his U-20 WC :rockman:

Nice first post.

Why did you guys change your logo the old one was much better :(.

We change our logo last season because of Christophe Bouchet, ex-president who wanted to renovate this one... The last was better but this one is pretty good too.

For the 3rd Round of the Intertoto Cup, Marseille will play against Swiss of Young Boys Bern.

3rd Round
16 July: Young-Boys Bern - Marseille
23 July: Marseille - Young Boys Bern

Semi-finals:
Deportivo La Corogne ou NK Slaven Koprivnica - FK ZTS Dubnica ou Newcastle
IFK Göteborg ou Wolfsburg - NK Varteks ou Lens
Lazio Rome ou Tampere United - Young Boys Berne ou Marseille
Egaleo FC ou Zalgiris Vilnius - Cluj ou Saint-Etienne
Gent ou Valence - Roda JC ou Slovan Liberec
Borussia Dortmund ou Sigma Olomouc - Leiria ou Hambourg

If we succeed in 3rd Round, we could play against Lazio in semi-finals  Last time we lost 5-1 in Champions League, but I think we can play well in theses games especially if the 2nd games is at home.

hahaha.. Wait and see..:) FIFA wants Turkish Federation to give autorisation to Ribéry to play for us.. Marseille did this transfer legaly, I don't think we'll pay for him :ewan:

Yeah but there aren't any real proofs that Galatsaray paid his wages... Just a paper who isn't really convincing... We'll see the decision on FIFA, maybe we'll pay Galatasaray but I believe Ribéry, and I think all is normal in this transfer considering he was free... Just wait and see.

Transfers: Lamouchi and Mendoza to l'OM

Sabri Lamouchi (Inter) and Andres Mendoza (Metalurg Donetsk) have signed a 1 year-contract yesterday in Marseille. Mendoza will be loaned with an option to buy him after the season, Lamouchi will be free in june 2006.
After long searchs, l'OM has found a new midfielder with Lamouchi. José Anigo and Jean Fernandez want him to give his experience to young players as Samir Nasri, Ahmed Yahiaoui, Taye Taiwo or Rakhmane Barry.
L'OM who wanted to buy 1 more forward for the next season takes Andres Mendoza. Not really known here in France except his goal against Milan with FC Bruges, Mendoza will play as a left forward to replace Cheyrou.

Moreover, l'OM is looking for a DC to replace Meïté and Beye during the African Nations Cup in january 2006. It should be Andre Luis Garcia from Benfica, maybe on loan. This powerful defender (1m92, 86kg) didn't play enough in Portugal and maybe want to leave Benfica to get a bit more playing time in Marseille.

Last game before our round in Intertoto Cup. Pretty good game, Jean Fernandez tried some players in different positions. Our new striker Mamadou Niang had a few opportunities but we saw his powerful play. Ribéry played very well again but we waited until 85' to score with Bamogo who could leave the team this week to go to Lille on loan. Transfers: Andre Luis Garcia lent for one year to OM

Benfica Bresilian defensor ANdre Luis Garcia is lent for one season to OM. Presentation of a big deal for opponents.

In 2001-2002, Andre Luiz Moreira used to play with Olympique Marseilles before joining PSG. Today Andre Luis Garcia is lent for a season with an option by Benfica to OM. He will play with the number two on his shirt.

«He has the typical defensor profile according to his coach Jean Fernandez : he is good in one to one and in the head game. He is charismatic and technical also. He used to « play », with Benfica last year but he only played one match. « As for Fernandez he is not physically ready He stopped for one month and didn’t play last year. It always takes more time for big players like him to get ready.

This huge central defensor (86kgs for 1m92) is recommanded by the legendary Carlos Mozer, player of Santos, the winner team of the Bresil Cup in 2002 and 2004. A team composed of gifted players like Diego, Robinho or Alex, who used to play with Eindhoven and who was one of the two highlights with Andre Luis in the sicilian team.

International auriverde two times, his coming to Lisbonne to remplace Tito leaving for Italy. Finnaly he stayed at Luz, Andre Luis can remplace his compatriot on the ground. Today he comes to OM for a one season lending.

OM.net

We find our DC thanks to Carlos Mozer. Now we'll see how he'll be used in the team. I think he'll be useful during Afrcian Nations Cup in january 2006 because Meïté and Beye will play this tournament.

YOUNG BOYS BERNE 2 - 3 MARSEILLE

Intertoto Cup 3rd Round
Stade de Suisse, Berne
16/07/2005
Attendance: 14,000
Referee: M. Thomson

Goals: Oruma (15e), Niang (35e), Taiwo (81e) pour l'OM ; Raimondi (61e), Yakin (74e) pour Berne

Cards: Eugster (33e), Schwegler (49e) pour Berne, Niang (72e) Ferreira (89e) pour l'OM

YOUNG BOYS BERNE: Wölfi - Eugster , Tiago, Disler, Steinsson - Schwegler - Sermeter (Varela, 67e), Häberli, Yakin (Magnin, 81e), Raimondi , Neri

MARSEILLE: Carrasso - Ferreira, Déhu, Méïté, Taiwo - Batlles, Oruma , Nasri - Luyindula (Bamogo, 71e), Niang , Koke (Olembe, 76e)

Really good game :rockman: We played well all along the game, we succeed in keeping the ball even if Berne was more preparated for this round. First official game, fist win especially away, I think it's a good start for our new team. 2 of our new players scored (Niang, Oruma) and Taiwo did an excellent game (H) and duet Batlles-Oruma at midfield is already good (Y) Too bad Berne scored 2 goals but we can see the next game in Marseille with confidence.

Reactions:
Jean Fernandez (coach):
"We won the game in the first halftime, thanks to our technique. We were technically better, as long as we physically handle. That’s what explains our victory.
After that we were physically weak, which explains we were in bad position.
But we joined forces and made a good point by scoring the third goal. However we haven’t won yet. Young Boys could retaliate next Saturday. One must keep in mind that this team won Lokeren 4-1 and Neuchatel 3-1, both outside.
We still have one week to be ready."

Laurent Batlles
"We played very good throughout first halftime, shooting high balls, stealing it to the opponent. Maybe we did too much, which may harmed us. Swiss were not easy to play, especially on their two wings. But we fought for victory.
We felt like playing like we did in friendly games. We should go on like this."

Mendoza made his debut in a friendly for Marseille yesterday.
Anybody know how long did he play and how he did?

He played 18 minutes at the end of the game. He played well and showed good abilities with Mamdou Niang. He has to work more to be ready next week, he'll be helpful for our left wing this season with his technical capacities and his hand game.

LORIENT 1 - 0 MARSEILLE

Pre-season game
20/07/2005
Stade du Moustoir, Lorient

Goal: Bourhani (5e) pour Lorient
Cards: : -

LORIENT: Audard (cap.) – Boutruche (Le Toux, 74), Recorbet, Genton (Daniel, 60), Barrientos – Pinard (Marvaux, 60), Yesso (Yesso, 82), Ewolo, Mesbah (Morel, 46) – Bourhani (Pedron, 60), Ziani

MARSEILLE: Carrasso – Beye, Déhu (cap.) (Andre Luis, 46), Méïté, Nakata (Taiwo, 46) – Lamouchi (Delfim, 74), Oruma, Batlles (Luyindula, 46) – Ribéry (Mendoza, 74), Bamogo (Koke, 46), Niang

Good game even if we lost.. It doesn't really matter, it was the first game for Lamouchi, Mendoza, Delfim, Andre Luis and other players were a bit tired afer Intertoto Cup. Lorient scored quickly and we didn't find the way to score. Mendoza showed some abilities in a few minutes, Lamouchi played well as Andre Luis.. Next gale in Interoto Cup tomorrow in Satde Vélodrome, Marseille against Young Boys Berne.

Transfers:

http://s.om.net/om/image/article/illustration/1/125.jpg
- Yannick Quesnel (Benfica) to l'OM
Second keeper of Benfica signed with Marseille for one year on loan. He'll be 2nd keeper until Barthez's comeback.

- Rudolf Skacel to Hearts of Midlothian (Scotland) on loan
Czech International Skacel leaves l'OM to go to Scottish League for one year loan with an option for a transfer after 1 season.

- Lucas Daniel Segovia (Rayo Vallecano B) on try
This young forward is on try with our second team for 1 or 2 weeks. He has already scored for his first game. I hope he'll do as Koke and Taiwo who played for 2nd team last year and who are now important in first team.

Yeah, he had many problems with his injuries since his coming here. We lent him to Moreirense last year and he did well. i don't think he'll play much this season but it's good to see him in good health :)

Taiwo is a good player. He's just 19 and he came in Europe 6 months ago so he sometimes misses of experience but he has already showed huge abilities. He did an amazing U-20 WC in june, and he looks better since this tournament. Last season, he was a bit short to play one full game but now he's really important in our defense. Maybe he'll be tired tonight so I dunno if you'll see the best Taye Taiwo... Pay attention on free-kicks, he has already scored beautiful goals with Nigeria and Marseille, especially this season iagainst Berne.

I've just arrived home. I was next to OM supporters, they are incredible, singing all the time, even when Depor scored.
The game was much more even than our last game against Newcastle and then we tied 1-1. OM didn't deserve a 2-0 loss for sure, for instance, just before our second goal there was a penalty that the referee didn't see (one of our centre backs pulled Nyang's arm to avoid him controlling the ball in front of Molina).

Yeah, there was a penalty on Niang.. The referee was so crap yesterday, he forgot many fouls for 2 teams.. We aren't lucky on this game. Deportivo was a bit better than us but we deserved a draw. No problems with your team, Deportivo's defense is solid and forwards are always dangerous. Too bad when Niang missed a huge opportunity in front of Molina in first period... 2nd game in 2 weeks, it will be so hard to score 3 goals without conceed once. I hope we'll see a great game, even if we didn't succeed in qualifying. Yesterday, our 2 DC were suspended and Ferreira and Nakata are left and right back normally. All is possible for this game.

DEPORTIVO LA COROGNE 2 - 0 MARSEILLE

09/08/05
Estadio Riazor, La Coruña
Interototo Cup, Final (1st game)
Referee: Jaroslav Jara (Cze.)
Attendance: 15,000 (?)

Goals: Ruben (67e), Carril (86e) for La Coruña
Cards: Ferreira (11e), Ribéry (25e) - OM ; Sergio (22e) - La Coruña

DEPORTIVO LA COROGNE: Molina - Manuel Pablo, Juanma, Andrade, Romero - Victor (Scaloni, 72), Duscher, Sergio, Luque (Carril, 72)- Tristan (Valeron, 68), Ruben

MARSEILLE: Carrasso - S. N'Diaye, Ferreira, Déhu, Nakata, Taiwo - Delfim (Batlles, 75), Oruma, Ribéry (Koke, 79) - Niang, Mendoza (Nasri, 46)

La Coruña played better than us even if they didn't restart Liga. Marseille was too short for this game without Beyey and Meïté. 2-0 it's difficult for us, there was maybe a penalty on Niang at 1-0 and just after Carril scored 2nd goal. UEFA Cup is now far, we've to win 3-0 or more to hope a qualification...

1st point in L1. Good game yesterday between 2 "Olympique". We did a good first period, scoring first goal but Lyon is a great team. They was better and this draw is a good result. Lyon is always dangerous with Carew who has scored his 3rd goal in 3 games in L1, his 8th with Lyon... Bad start for us, we've to take more points as possible on next games. It will start next week against Rennes, last of L1..

Andre Luis should make his start against Rennes, replacing beye, dehu, or maybe ferreira in which case beye would move to the right. Fernandez also said he was thinking about a 4-players defense, so maybe Dehu will play in midfield what would be cool for our conservation of the ball and defending in midfield. :jambo:

ATTAQUANTS : Niang, Barry, Mendoza

Absents : Barthez (suspendu), Beye (au repos), Ba, S. N'Diaye, L.N'Diaye, Cantareil, M'Bolhi, Koke

4th game in L1. After a good draw against Lyon, we'll try to win our first match this season. It will be hard, Rennes is last of L1 and wants to take points quickly. Last season it was almost impossible to win in Rennes. Without Beye and Koke, Marseille will probably play in 4-4-2 with first game of Andre Luis.

Another defeat, 3 in 4 games in L1. Bad game which we've to forgot quickly. Rennes wasn't better than us just they didn't make defensive fouls as us. It's worrying, 8 goals in 4 games, just 1 scored. We've to be better against Ajaccio next week.

Enjoy it! :rockman: Stade Vélodrome was on fire (H)

Andres Mendoza played well. He was dangerous for La Corogne's defense and it created spaces for Mamadou Niang. I hope he'll score in next game, he deserves a goal (Y)

Cana et Gimenez to l'OM

Cana (4 years) and Gimenez (2 years + 1) signed up their contracts Thursday. Presented to press, the two new recruits showed a good determination, before Pape Diouf and Jose Anigo make the point on the mercato’s end.

«I appreciate OM and Marseilles. I never try to hide, even to Parisian’s supporters, even if it’s tricky. One doesn’t progress in lying. What counts is what one achieves on the ground. »
From the very start, Lorik Cana accepts the motto of its new club “Straight to goal. He could translate it by “straight in his mind”. No place for whether doubts or sorrows.«I hope that a maximum of PSG fans will understand my decision and that they will judge me only on what I made in there. Because I always gave my best. I don’t regret anything. I am proud of having been formed in this club. But for the moment I play at Marseilles and I will give everything to this club from now.».
Once the Parisian parenthesis over, the new OM defensive midfielder evocated his wish to defend colours of ]«a football’s town ». The bad season’s beginning of the Marseilles’ formation won’t worry him.«It’s when bad times come that we notice people who have the will”, he judges. The last Tuesday’s match against La Corogne that he followed in front of television must reinforce this will.
His transfer has been concluded for an amount of three millions euros. No more said Pape Diouf : «Our ideas were on point. It’s only speculation to say that Parisian president incited Robert Louis Dreyfus to use his check again.”
Cana was not the only new player Thursday. The Argentinean goaler Christian Gimenez was on his sides. The Bâle’s attacker indeed signed up Thursday a two years contract (plus a one year option).«It’s a good opportunity to me”, he sums up. Aware of reaching a new level in leaving Switzerland for France, the nicknamed Jimmy shows a beautiful confidence:«I am not afraid of this pressure. I played Champions League with Bâle. We played against teams like Liverpool and Manchester. I feel ready for this new challenge.”
Goleador didn’t have to use his connections to collect informations on the club.«OM is internationally known», he recalls.
Playing in surface, adroit in front of the goal (27 goals in 30 matches last year), Gimenez didn’t determine a personal goal.«I’ll score as many goals as OM needs to reach his goals”, he concludes smiling.

Bad result again. We didn't deserve a draw but a victory... There was no penalty on Lucas IMO. It's hard 'cause we did a bad start and now we're last!(N) We played well on this game and just this penalty 4 minutes before end of the game.. Too bad. We've to take more points as possible in next weeks, especially nexy gameday in Sochaux.

Cesar: "a big step forward to me"
After a quick training and before having medical tests, the sloven defender Bostjan Cesar was officially presented under his new colours. “A very intelligent player”, according to Anigo and Skoblar who supervised it.

José Anigo presented last recruit in these terms : «It’s a player to equalize our left side. He is good in the air and the thing I most appreciated is that he is clever on the ground.» .
Aware of the Sloven’s youth, the sports director added : «He’s 22 years only. It’s a bet we make on the future. Because we don’t only build for one season.”

Sitting next to him we found Josip Skoblar. The ex shooter found the player in the framework of his work at OM’s recruitment. He was not avaricious of compliments on the sloven defender.«He’s got a very strong personality. And his game’s intelligence allows him to make difficult situations go easy.”
Whether he is a left defender of a left stopper, Cesar then confided following an example: Marcel Desailly. He knows essential of OM: its past, the quality of its audience and its ambitions for the future. Arguments that convinced him without difficulties.«I feel like making a big forward step in my career by coming to Marseille. These early season’s results surprised me, but I didn’t hesitate one moment. Because the goals that OM wants to reach are elevated. I’m not discouraged at all by the today’s team’s statement. On the contrary I am very impatient to begin. »
Soon as Sunday against Sochaux? «I feel ready », he answered without thinking before his coach’s decision whether he’s in the group to the Doubs or not. Decision will be taken in the late morning Saturday. Jean Fernandez could take him, it would be easier to acclimate him in the team.

SOCHAUX 0 - 1 MARSEILLE

11/09/2005
French Ligue 1, Week 6
Stade Bonal, Sochaux
Referee: M. Colombo
Attendance: 19,000

Goal: Oruma (66th) for OM
Cards: Ndaw (5th) for Sochaux

SOCHAUX: Richert - Josse, Miranda, Afolabi, Bühler - Ndaw, Pitau (Kader 74th) - Zaïri (Brunel 65th), Meghni (Menez 80th), Isabey (cap) - Dagano

MARSEILLE: Carrasso - Ferreira , Méité, Déhu (cap), Andre Luis, Taiwo - Ribéry (Beye 77th), Delfim, Oruma, Niang (Mendoza 81st) - Gimenez

Sochaux-OM: 1st victory

Here it is, the so much awaited victory. The Olympians, thanks to a goal of Oruma and to a large defensive solidarity, gained their first success in championship. They leave red zone.

SOCHAUX 0-1 OM
0-1: Oruma (66th)

The expression on the face of Jean Fernandez at the end of the match was worth all the speech and comments. When Mr Colombo carried finally the whistle to his lips, the Marseilles coach blew with him. Large "ouf" of relief which followed upon a last rush sochalien, fortunately vain.
Then the joy came. It was prolonged on the Olympian side to the foot of the platform of the 800 supporters. The simple happiness of a first victory in championship. A success awaited since the beginning of the season, and even a little more still if we go up in 2004-05.
These three points did not fall all alone into the Marseilles bag. They came to leave OM from the red zone at the price of a true collective performance. Blue and White played in team: in a compact and interdependent way.
It was needed because the beginning of the match was delicate. Sochaux exerted their influence on the game by monopolizing the ball, and by showing time to time, dangerous in the airs. From half an hour of play the Olympians took the ball and became offensive with shoots of Taiwo, Gimenez and Ribéry.

They approached the second half-time with a desire of continuity. They reached that point in containing their hosts then by pushing them to the fault. It is what occurred at the 66th minute. Gimenez recovered a ball in feet of Miranda. His pressing benefitted to Niang, then to Ribéry who felt Orupa arriving in his back like a racing car. The limpid shooting of the Nigerian miedfielder was placed with short-nap cloth of the post. Imparable.
In spite of some other situations, OM retained especially his breath until end of the debates. An ultimate corner maintained the team under tension. But there was not this time imaginary penalty to come to remove the Marseillais their so invaluable victory. 0-1, as they wished it. Both to begin for good their championship, and to reassure themselves defensively. Accomplished mission.

Pape Diouf and l'OM did that because of security in Parc des Princes. He wanted 2.000 places for l'OM supporters and Paris just gave him 1300. So he decided to send our 2nd team from 5th division to play this "classico" because supporters couldn't see the game, and l'OM never plays without the supporters.

And we did a draw 0-0 :rockman: Crap game, very bad decision for French football... Everybody have to forget this quickly.

Haha. That's really a shame for Paris isn't it?

btw. How high is the chance to get tickets for a OM home match?

Yeah, it's a huge shame for Paris? They showed nothing, no opportunities to score between a 5th division team...

There are 60 000 places in Vélodrome; 45 000 for subscribers in Virages. So you can easily find places IMO :)

He made 2 or 3 good games especially against Lazio in Intertoto Cup but then, he missed huge opportunities and he was more and more on the bench. During the mercato, he stayed in Peru so we decided to trade him because he didn't show envy to continue with l'OM. I think he came back in Ukraine. Too bad, he was pretty good on his left wing even if Ribéry is better on this position.

Tell us about it he's hated because he has the talent but shows no passion whatsoever. He was never like that for some reason when he left Club Brugge he was never the same. O well I thought OM was going to change him I guess he deserves to rot. I'm not a fan of him as a person but as a player he is good
