View Full Version : FM 2005 Virtual Simulation (via EURO-League Patch)
KLINSMANN 25-07-2005, 09:20:PM I just recently downloaded the Euro League patch where the best teams in Europe are put into the Scottish leagues. I have just started this file, and made myself unemployed, with the name "Soccer Gaming." Now, I will not be playing in this game; I will only be simulating it with holiday mode at night when I'm sleeping.
I think this will be very interesting, to see where certain teams will end up, both at club and at national level. I will keep all 4 divisions updated, as well as the European Cups, Nationl Cups and International Competitions (World Cup, etc).
You can feel free to ask me for how a specific team is doing or where a certain player currently plays at.
sounds very interesting... i'd be intrigued to what would happen to Man Utd :p
crazyrussin 25-07-2005, 09:33:PM sounds very interesting... i'd be intrigued to what would happen to Man Utd :p
MU is not in there... Just joking mate))))))))) :hump:
crazyrussin 25-07-2005, 09:34:PM And can you put one russian team, CSKA for example in there, I would really apreciate that
rpvankasteren 25-07-2005, 09:39:PM @crazyrussin: I don't know if there's already one in there, but if not KLINSMANN will be unable to add one now.
@KLINSMANN: It'll be interesting to see how balanced this update actually is. I know how hard it really is to get teams to be in a balanced position in a league.
KLINSMANN 25-07-2005, 09:46:PM First off, here are the 4 leagues with their respective teams.

There you go. I didn't have to add it, it's already in the Gold League. Good luck to them!
Kibe Kru 25-07-2005, 10:31:PM Nice idea... though the Scottish league can be confusing when they split into top6 and bottom 6...
but it'll be interesting!

KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 12:13:AM League Previews
Premier League:
The favourites for me here are Chelsea FC and AC Milan. Chelsea, with its enourmous wealth and a star studded team will most likely escape with the title. Of course, Barcelona and Juventus make up a great challenge for the two front runners. FC Bayern, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United can just as equally be ranked as the other teams. The Premier League titlerace will be a very, VERY close one. It is almost impossible to predict who will win it. I will assume that Porto and Lyon will be battling to stay in the Premier League, as one team will be relegated to the Platinum League. As for Valencia, anything can happen in my view. If they start out well, they will finish well; if not, then there might be some problems. It will be VERY exciting to see who come away with the title. And since there are 9 VERY good teams and 3 okay teams, some of those 9 will come in below a mid-table finish!! Also, do not be surprised if managers are sacked from their jobs, as it will happen for sure!
Platinum League:
There are only 10 teams in this division, compared to the 12 in the Premier League. The favourites here look to be AS Roma, FC Liverpool and FC Schalke 04. However, I could see Ajax messing around up there as well. PSV Eindhoven have a decent team, but I don't think its decent enough to be promoted. As far as relegation is concerned, 2 teams will get relegated. To me, it looks to be a battle between Fenerbahce, Benfica and possibly Celtic. Werder Bremen can finish anywhere, even promotion if they do well enough and sign some good players early.
Gold League:
Just by looking at the teams, this could be one of the tighest groupings. Very unpredictable here as Marseille, Newcastle, Deportivo, Anderlecht and Rangers look to be possible candidates for promotion. Of course, Sporting, Galatasaray and Feyenoord could mess in there as well. I predict Sevilla for relegation by far from anyone else. And as far as CSKA Moscow is concerned, who knows? Maybe they can make a couple of signings before the season starts.
Silver League:
Some of the teams here look better than some of the Gold League clubs. For example, Dortmund, Lazio, Leverkusen and Rosenborg really stand out here. I predict Villareal to come in last place here, but you cannot be relegated any further anyway, so it would't matter. Also, watch out for Olympiakos and Club Brugge for potential promotion contenders. Real Betis should be concerned with a mid-table finish if they can achieve that, and I would also keep a close eye on Sparta Prague, as they can come in anywhere.
KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 12:28:AM European Competition Previews
UEFA Champions League:
The "Scottish" teams here are FC Bayern, Lyon, Porto and AC Milan. AC Milan is the only team that has to go through Qualification first to get in. They start off in the 3rd Qualifying Round. From other countries, possible threats could be: Paris, Stuttgart, Atletico Madrid, and maybe Parma. Otherwise, this competition should go to Scotland (aka the "Euro-League"), almost every year!
UEFA Cup:
Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea will represent the Euro-League in this competition. It should be a tight battle, and it will be interesting to see which of these can last the longest against other mediocre teams. Boavista and HSV could serve as other possible threats here, otherwise one of Barca, Arsenal or Chelsea should take it home.
UEFA Inter-Toto Cup:
AS Roma and Celtic from the Platinum Leagues enter this competition. AS Roma enters in Round 2, while Celtic enters in Round 3. Nice, Real Sociedad, and Aston Villa could serve as possible threats as well.
UEFA Super Cup:
This will be played out between last years Champions League winner (FC Porto) and the UEFA Cup winner (Valencia). It will be an interesting match between two Premier League sides in Monaco.
As far as Nation Coefficients are concerned, this is how it looks like right now (Top 25):
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124596&stc=1
As you can see, Scotland lie in 6th place right now. This will surely change soon as Euro-League sides start winning Europe!
KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 01:48:AM Important/Big Transfers - July 2004
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124599&stc=1
As you can notice, the biggest transfers here by far this month is Glen Johnson's move from Chelsea to Barcelona. Barcelona paid a fee of €20 million. Zanetti's move from Inter Milan to Aston Villa might help Aston Villa in their Inter-Toto Cup run. Lyon are also trying to improve their squad by purchasing Sergio from Deportivo La Coruna for €1.2 million. Another, fairly big move is Juan's transfer from Leverkusen to FC Porto. Also, Chelsea are trying to reserve some players for the bench with their purchase of Diego Placente from Leverkusen for only €425,000. Amazing future prospect, Vincent Kompany's move to Porto will surely give Porto a bright future. Soon after his €1.1 million purchase, his value increased to over €8 million and he is only 18 years of age!
KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 02:30:AM 2004 UEFA Inter-Toto Cup
This tournament kicked off with 2 Euro-League teams in it. AS Roma and Celtic, who are both in the Platinum League started off in the 2nd Round and 3rd Round respectively.
2nd Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124600&stc=1
Easy win here for Roma, 3-0 away and 2-0 at home. They move on to the next round.
3rd Round

http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124602&stc=1
Celtic here with an important away goal to secure a spot in the semi-finals after drawing 0-0 at home against Gent. AS Roma, still not conceding a goal, look to be real contenders here after beating 1860 Munich 2-0 and 2-0. Semi's for them!
Semi-Finals
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124603&stc=1
Celtic were deservedly eliminated by Aston Villa as they lost both their legs, 2-0 and 4-1. AS Roma on the other hand continue to impress and move on to the final. Real Sociedad also move on and look to be the only threat to Roma now. The draw for the final pitched Roma and Sociedad!

The Finals
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124605&stc=1
AS Roma chocked at home! 1-1 only against a mediocre Sociedad side. They will have to do better in the 2nd leg. Real Sociedad even outshot them. It is the first game that Roma didn't win in this years Inter-Toto Cup.
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124606&stc=1
And out they are. No UEFA Cup for AS Roma. After Celtic's elimination, Roma are out as well. Even though they outshot Sociedad in this leg, they couldn't finish and therefore are eliminated from Europe.
All other matches:

Chalkidona from Greece defeats Genoa from Italy 3-1 in the second leg to secure a spot in the UEFA Cup. Also, Celtic-defeaters, Aston Villa ties 4-4 on aggregate but goes through on away goals against Bulgarian side Marek.
So, in all:
Final Results of the 2004 UEFA Inter-Toto Cup:

the selection of teams for the leagues sucks. They should have done it based on the real world team coefficients.
KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 10:39:AM 2004 UEFA Super Cup
The final was contested between last years Champions League winner (FC Porto) and last years UEFA Cup winner (Valencia). It is a game played on neutral ground, in this case and every case, Monaco.
Porto didn't play too well, although their new signing Vincent Kompany got on the scoresheet when he tied the score up 1-1 in the 30th minute. Before that however, Ruben Baraja took the lead for Valencia in the 8th minute. Valencia kept dominating until they finally found the goal they were looking for. It came quite late, in the 72nd minute by Pablo Aimar, who was later announced "Man of the Match." Valencia, take the UEFA Super Cup home.

It's okay. It's not too bad. The only place I can kind of see a problem is at the Gold League and the Silver League, but over time, those will even out, because the worse teams will be in the Silver League and the better teams will be in the Gold League.

Joaquin's transfer to Chelsea just shows how much money Chelsea have. Also, Iker Casillas will now play for Manchester United. That is quite a big move. Soldado moved from Real Madrid to Valencia. Also, Porto have picked up Blasi from Juventus for €21 million. One of the biggest transfers is Robinho's move to Europe. AC Milan paid €17.5 million for the 20 year old Brazilian wonderkid. Juventus strenghtened themselves with William Gallas from Chelsea. Demichelis went to Inter Milan for €14 million. He was probably not settling in well at Bayern. Big man Baptista now plays at Monaco, after moving from Sevilla for €12.25 million. Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is a very good prospect for the future, has been sold to Real Madrid in a part exchange deal and €2.3 million. Bayern got Michel Salgado in that deal. American star, Landon Donovan decided to stay in Europe, as he chose to play for Marseille. Bayern also gave away Claudio Pizarro and Willy Sagnol, but got Christiano Ronaldo in return. This was a player-exchange deal.

Fairly predictable group stage finish here. The 4 teams that were knocked out were to some point the worst teams on paper anyway.

Brazil's path to the final was a stroll through the park as they beat El Salvador 4-0 and Costa Rica 3-0 in the Q-Finals and Semi-Finals respectively. Canada had a little bit of bad luck as they lost 3-2 in extra time to Costa Rica and were sent home. Puerto Rico continued to be the only surprise nation, reaching as far as the Semi-Finals. As for the United States, they were beaten by their rivals Mexico, 2-0 and eliminated earlier than expected. Mexico and Brazil fought out a tightly contested match between themselves. Mexico were trailing Brazil for a long time, and even missed a penalty near the end of the match, however still managed to get that equalizer and send the game to extra time and eventually a penalty shoot-out where they would defeat Brazil 4-2.

KLINSMANN 26-07-2005, 07:00:PM 2004/05 Carling Euro Challenge
The Carling Euro Challenge is a competition contested between Silver, Gold and some Platinum teams. Premier League clubs do not play in this one. It will be interesting to see who can come out on top of the smaller clubs.
1st Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124623&stc=1
Well, the first round had some surprises in it. First off, Deportivo La Coruna managed to beat FC Schalke 04 2-1 to advance to the next round. Also, an even bigger upset in terms of divisions, Leverkusen beat Benfica 2-1 in ET to go through to the next round. Brugge, another Silver club managed to beat a Platinum team, in this case Werder Bremen, IN Bremen. Tottenham defeated Marseille 2-1 and Sevilla took care of Platinum side Monaco 3-2. Dortmund were stunned by same division club Villareal, who managed to get away with a 3-0 away victory in Dortmund. In another entertaining match, Celtic and Roma faced off. These were the two Inter-Toto Cup starters in 2004. The game went Celtic's way, 2-1 after ET. Olympiakos' 3-2 win against Ajax can count as another upset as a Silver side beat a Platinum side once again. Also, Real Betis seemed to have no problems against a weak Rangers side as they knocked them out 3-1.
2nd Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124624&stc=1
Leverkusen continues their run with a 1-0 victory over Sevilla. Deportivo also continue to impress as they knock out Liverpool 2-1 after ET. Fenerbahce, who joined in the 2nd round, defeat Silver side Lazio 2-1 and advance to the Quarter Finals. In yet another upset though, Tottenham managed to beat Galatasaray in Istanbul 3-2. CSKA Moscow found themselves going home unhappy as they lost a home game against division-lower Club Brugge.
Quarter Finals
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124625&stc=1
The biggest upset here is probably Deportivo's victory in Glasgow against Celtic. 1-0 was the final score there as Deportivo continue dreaming of that Euro Challenge trophy. Leverkusen's run however, ends here as Feyenoord have no problem of knocking them out 2-0. Tottenham also continue to dream with a bare 1-0 victory over Club Brugge. And Anderlecht, in a small upset, knocked out Fenerbahce 3-2 after ET. The Semi-Finals are set, and not one Platinum team is in it.
Semi Finals
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124626&stc=1
The Semi Final draws pitched Tottenham at home against Feyenoord and Deportivo at home against Anderlecht. Deportivo's victory didn't come to much of a surprise, as home advantage took over between two equaly good teams. However, Tottenham Hotspurs manage to win once more, 1-0 as well and get a place in the Euro Challenge Final. Feyenoord, to much of disapointment, leave and hope that next year they can achieve more.
Final
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124627&stc=1
And it's happened! Tottenham Hotspurs defeat Deportivo La Coruna to win the Carling Euro Challenge trophy. A Silver division side managed to beat all the odds and claim the throne as Euro Challenge champions. The Spurs have surely achieved something special here with this 2-1 final victory against Depor.

1st Round

Ajax, even in this competition get knocked out early by a far smaller club. Olympiakos manage to win 2-1 in Amsterdam. Lazio defeats Gold side Rangers 2-1 as well. Leverkusen make a good start to the League Cup with a 3-1 away win to Feyenoord. Liverpool need a penalty shoot-out to beat Anderlecht. Sparta Prague pulled the biggest upset yet. A 1-0 victory over Premier side Inter Milan. Sparta Prague plays in the lowest division, Silver. Also, Fenerbahce lose to Silver side Club Brugge at home 3-2 after ET. In a close match between Benfica and Schalke (both Platinum sides), Benfica managed to come out on top after a penalty shoot-out. Tottenham defeated Real Betis 2-1, while Galatasaray had absolutely no problems against Villareal as they won 3-0. Deportivo knocked out Dortmund 3-1 and Newcastle beat Rosenborg 1-0 to advance. Premier side Juventus took on Gold side Marseille and gave them no chance as they advanced with a 2-1 victory. In a very entertaining match, two Premier sides faced off. Real Madrid vs. Manchester United. The game itself ended 2-2, but Man Utd kept it cool during the shoot-out and won. Platinum club Bremen defeated Sevilla to avoid yet another upset in a league where upsets flourish. There was finally a match where one side took total control and that was between Monaco and PSV Eindhoven. PSV took care of business with a 4-0 win away! And lastly, CSKA Moscow advance to the next round with their 2-1 win against Sporting.
2nd Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124629&stc=1
Galatasaray continue their run after winning 2-1 against Lazio Rome. PSV also won 2-1 against Benfica and secure a spot in the next round. Depor had no problems against Olympiakos (2-1) and Premier side Valencia beat Newcastle United 2-1. Juventus ended Tottenham's dreams with a 3-0 victory. Manchester United keep it going after beating Club Brugge 2-0 away as Arsenal find themselves very unfortunate after losing at home to Platinum side Werder Bremen, 2-1. Sparta Prague continue their ambitious run after knocking out Inter last round and now Leverkusen with a score of 2-0. Celtic come away with a 3-0 victory against lower division CSKA Moscow and Roma defeat Liverpool in a closely contested match.

3rd Round

Werder Bremen continues their fantastic run by beating Celtic 2-1. Chelsea have no problems in beating PSV away 2-0. Neither do Barcelona, as they overcome Deportivo 4-1 at home. Roma just barely manage a 1-0 win over Premier side Lyon. Juventus gets two goals and wins 2-0 against Bayern. A very big upset happened in Istanbul however. Galatasaray beat AC Milan 3-0!! AC Milan were given no chance in this match as a Gold league side clearly played better than a Premier side. Valencia went to the next round as well after beating Manchester United 2-0 at home. And to finish it off, another huge upset was pulled as Premier League side FC Porto lost in penalties at home to Silver League side Sparta Prague. It will be interesting to see which of these 8 teams can achieve the most come the Quarter Finals and on.

Galatasaray needs a penalty shoot-out to defeat Platinum side Roma after a 1-1 draw. And Barcelona loses out to Valencia 2-0 at the Nou Camp.
Semi Finals
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124681&stc=1
There was to be no more upsets here anymore as Valencia defeated Werder 2-1 in Bremen. Also, Chelsea gave Galatasaray no chance, coming out with a 2-0 home victory against the Gold side. The final would pitch Chelsea and Valencia!

1st Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124683&stc=1
Deportivo exists early, as Leverkusen trash them 3-0 at home. Besides that, the only other small upset was Real Betis defeating Galatasaray 1-0. Otherwise, Sparta Prague, Marseille, Rangers, Dortmund, Club Brugge and Sevilla also advance to the 2nd round.
2nd Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124684&stc=1
In a tightly contested match between Club Brugge and CSKA Moscow, a penalty shoot-out was needed for a winner to be decided. CSKA kept it cool and advanced on. Marseille, Newcastle, Leverkusen, Real Betis, Sparta Prague and Dortmund all have absolutely no problem of advancing as they faced off against non-division opposition. Lazio, a silver team, beat Sevilla, a gold team 3-1. The match between Feyenoord and Anderlecht was very even, but Anderlecht took over in the most important phase and scored the decisive goal. And finally, Rangers are knocked out by Sporting, 1-0.
3rd Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124685&stc=1
There was only one upset on this day. Real Betis defeated Benfica 2-1 to advance. Otherwise, every other match finished the way most people would have predicted anyways. The most noticable win was AC Milan's 4-0 victory against Schalke. Bayern Munich managed to defeat FC Barcelona 3-1 away at the Nou Camp.
4th Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124686&stc=1
With almost all Premier teams, and some Platinum teams left, this was going to be a very interesting race to the cup. Real Betis, the only Silver team left, was beaten by Porto 2-0. In a big match, AC Milan faced off against Chelsea. One big team was going to be knocked out by the Quarter Finals. It was home advantage that paid off in the end as AC Milan took it to them 2-0. Bayern were somewhat surprised as Liverpool beat them 1-0 in Munich. As far as Newcastle is concerned, they were knocked out by Arsenal 2-1. And finally, it should be mentioned that Platinum side PSV scored 3 goals and conceding only 2 against Premier side Lyon.
Quarter Finals

Two Platinum sides remain and two will still remain after the round. Real Madrid and Arsenal are the other two to advance, Arsenal after beating AC Milan 2-1 in Milan.

Barcelona had some trouble in group B. After winning and drawing their first two games, they lost 2-0 at home to Sochaux. They managed to win their last match against GAK, 1-0 to place third in the group.
Arsenal, in group C, had no problem of advancing. Three wins and 1 draw says it all. Their wins were in margins of 3-1, 4-0 and 4-2. They drew 1-1 away to Torino.
Valencia got off to a very good start in Group F. They won their opener 4-0 against Legia and went off to their second match. This was away to Spanish side Valladolid. Valladolid made sure that Valencia's trip home was to be a depressing one, as they defeated them 1-0. Valencia then, upset again, draw 0-0 at home against a mediocre Israeli side in the name of Bnei Sakhnin. Their fourth and final match was played in Leicester. 3-1 was the final score, and no, not for Valencia, but for Leicester! There was one more matchday left, but Valencia already finished their 4 games. Legia was last with 1 point and a goal difference of -6. Therefore they were no threat to Valencia, however, Leicester was. The last game would be Legia vs Leicester. All Leicester needed was a draw and Valencia would be knocked out and they would be through. Legia battled very hard though and managed to beat Leicester 2-1. Valencia finished tied with 4 points but a better goal difference by two goals. Lucky, lucky Valencia!
Chelsea got off to 3 wins in their first 3 matches. Their last one, however, they lost 2-0 to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.
In other groups, Aston Villa and VfL Wolfsburg were able to impress.

AC Milan had a very easy run, winning their first 4 games without conceding a goal before drawing 1-1 in Panathinaikos and 0-0 at home against Djurgarden.
Lyon, in Group C, had a weird run. It was a run without losing once, but only winning once. 5 draws was the conclusion as Lyon finished 2nd in their group.
Very impressive on the other hand were FC Bayern Munich. They won all of their games in their group finishing with a goal difference of 12-2 (+10).
Finally, the last Euro League club was FC Porto who were drawn into group G. Porto managed to concede zero (0) goals!! Well done to them!
In other groups, Belgium side Standard impressed, finishing with 13 points in their group. Red Star Belgrade also did well, finishing first in their group, with 13 points as well.

First Knockout Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124722&stc=1
Arsenal have no problem going through against FC Basel from Sqitzerland. 2-0 at home and 4-2 in Basel gives Arsenal the 6-2 aggregate win. Valencia on the other hand, were upset as Bnei Sakhnin beat them in penalties after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline. In another match, Aston Villa managed to draw 1-1 in Barcelona and win 3-2 on the away leg, thereby knocking out giants and favourites FC Barcelona!! Chelsea had no problem, defeating Banik Ostrava 6-0 on aggregate, 1-0 at home though.
Second Knockout Round
http://www.soccergaming.tv/attachment.php?attachmentid=124723&stc=1
A few surprises here, first off to mention that Arsenal and Chelsea were drawn against each other, meaning that there would only be one Euro League team remaining come Quarter Final time. Slovakian side Zilina upset German side Frankfurt 3-0 in the away leg and therefore knocked the Germans out. Bnei Sakhnin's impressive run finally came to and end when they faced "the giant killers" Aston Villa. 3-1 was the final aggregate score for Villa, who are having a fantastic season. Dinamo from Croatia faced off against Dinamo Kiev from the Ukraine. 1-0 was the final aggregate side for the Croatian Dinamo. And finally, the biggest match, Arsenal vs Chelsea. After winning the home-tie 2-1, Arsenal were still not quite through. However, they kept it cool, even at Stanford Bridge and came out with a 4-2 victory, totalling an aggregate score of 6-3 for Arsenal.
Quarter Finals

Aston Villa keep going as they will now enter the Semi Finals after this 5-3 agg win against Zilina. Arsenal had no problems against Torino, beating them 2-0 in the second leg. In a very even match-up, Udinese managed to defeat Real Sociedad 3-2 on aggregate. And finally, Dinamo's run had to come to an end as well, as Boavista beat them 3-1 on aggregate.
Semi Finals

Both Arsenal and Aston Villa had no problem advancing to the final, here. Arsenal's opponent was defenseless in both legs and Villa's opponent had no chance in the second leg which was played at Villa Park as Aston Villa took it to Boavista 4-1.
Therefore, the final of the UEFA Cup 2004/05 will be between ARSENAL and ASTON VILLA.
Let's see what these two have in store...

Smaller teams such as Standard, M. Haifa, and Red Star are through to the Quarter Finals. Red Star even knocked out Euro League side Lyon! AC Milan needed to wait for the second leg to surely secure themselves a spot in the Quarter Finals. Stuttgart from Germany, defeated Beveren 2-0 at home and drew 0-0 away. FC Porto won on aggregate against Atletico Madrid after winning 1-0 in the away leg (at home). Middlesbrough gave Paris a very good challenge, but Paris managed to get that second leg victory and thereby advance. FC Bayern, still continuing to impress the most, defeat Parma 4-1 on aggregate and enter the Quarter Finals.

M. Haifa can keep dreaming as they also advance to the Semi Finals. They knocked out other surprise team Standard from Belgium. They finished almost 20 points ahead of second place, Monaco. Another surprise finish, AS Roma came in second last, therefore are relegated to the Gold League. Benfica had no chance as they only managed 27 points and therefore finish last place.
