On the right wing that is. The tactics I use are really fatiguing for my attacking midfield because both wingers and AMC have to move alot and flood the box whenever the ball is up, that's why they usually get tired out after playing 4 or 5 games in a row. At the moment only backup right winger in my squad is Chris Eagles, who is definitely not up to the challenge as he may put in one decent performance out of three which is really not good enough for a side as ambitious as mine. I'm scouting some italian players and also there is Rosales with quite impressive stats, but I'm not sure how they could perform in EPL. I also need the player not to bitch about being a backup because Christiano will obviously be my first choice in this position for many years to come. Money is not important since after selling Rio Ferdinand to Chelsea for £30 m I have about £49 m of transfer budget left to spend :)

I must apologize for not searching the forums myself because my 19.2K dial-up connection makes such actions a bit too longlasting as I'm apparently not patient enough to read trough threads with several pages at that loading speed. Logging in is painful enough.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Gustavo Varela has damn good stats, check him out. He is my right winger on my Ajax game, he is better than Rosales. In my Parma game Mark Bresciano is also a great winger. Robson Ponte is also a nice backup. Not sure if Mark Bresicano would be cheap but Varela and Ponte are transfer listed at the start of the game and should be very cheap. I got Varlea for 952K, and Ponte for 2.2M at the start of the season.

Mauro Esposito? he always becomes completely awesome in my games, you should be able to pick him up for a decent price usually. He's immense on both wings and is very versatile, he also didn't seem to mind being on the bench quite a bit at times.

Joaquin (H) Him as a back-up, makes me drool.

Joaquin is valued £32,5 m in my game and although i have the money I don't think it would make sense to buy someone that expensive to sit on the bench :) But I'll check these guys out, thank you all for the help.

19.2K connection (H)!!!

What about Milovan Mirosevic? Cheap, has good stats only thing is it might be difficult getting a work permit for him.

Ji-Sung Park is also a decent right winger that doesn't mind sitting on the bench, he can also play all along the midfield so he is generally very handy.

Very true, hes excellent aswell when he plays. Darren Fletcher maybe if you started as Man Utd? You could always pick up a youngster and play him?

by the way how good is Selakovic on FM?

he was a great backup player in 0304.

Fletcher doesn't really cut it on the wing. He's better playing as AMC. I thought about Park, but then his stats weren't that good and his description was just midfielder, not winger so it seemed a risky deal to me. But if you guys say he does well, I might just try him out. I made a bid for Esposito and Varela, they're not a cheap deal no more in my game but hey, I got the cash (H) I guess if I get one out of three I should be fine :)

Edit: checked that Mirosevic guy out as well, he's got even better by now. Got to consider my options and get the thing sorted.

On another note, how long does it usually take a high potential young player to reach his maximum? Is it worth it to concentrate on these youngsters and play them as much as possible, I mean is there a chance they'll make it in a few years or should I rely on the market? (I'm a bit new to this game, haven't made it past three seasons :) )

the description of a player means absolutely nothing. i remember having a winger once labelled as a "promising defender"

I can't believe this name is more well known but......

Marek Jankulovski

Honestly, he can play at the Joaquin and Christiano Ronaldo level. He's just a little older.

ya, Janku's outstanding, star player when I was manager of Czech Republic... can play left wing too

and if not him, try Soloman Kalou... becomes a great right winger after a few seasons

Kalou is great.

In reality though, you need two good players for every position - especially with the top clubs with the amount of games they play. I find that I need to completely rotate the team every match for a few weeks or so, when you have like three matches in a week for two weeks or something.

Yes, I do that as well, thats why Eagles isn't good enough, he is just too inconsistent to play two good games in a row and I can't play CR in every game without him getting completely exhausted.

Anyway, so far I have made bids for Esposito, Varela, Mirosevic, Park and got nothing but rejections. Seems like none of them will be sold for any price. I even accidentally made a £29 m + player bid for Joaquin (actually wanted to offer 12 m + player) and got that one rejected as well. Will try to go for Jankulovski or Kalou then.

tried Alin Stoica? he's usually available on a free or very cheap, he's a decent midfielder.

You know honestly, I had Joaquin, Ronaldo, and Jankulovski on the same team.... and Jankulovski was just as good as Christiano, hell I sold Christiano because I had a player just as good behind him.

I use Sneijder, not really the type of player to sit the bench when bought, but he is still at Ajax so he has no problem playing second-string to C.Ronaldo. As for the left, I don't have one, I alternate between Vaart and Robben, just putting Tuncay in AMC if need be.

Anyone know how Aimar is? I know he has amazing stats, but as one of the posts in this forum tell you, stats don't always relate to on-feild stuff.I would not buy him most times, but Valancia want to offload him, he is in a "squad roatation system", plus they just got relegated.

(no I am not cheating, this is the Euro Super League patch)

I actually play Wesley/Adu on the left, Hatem Ben Arfa in the middle, and Varlea/Rosales on the right.

I believe Aimar gets injured more than others would.

Bierofka. He can play either AML or AMR and usually has season stats between 8.2 and 8.5 for me as well as loads of assists. Mohammed Zidan is also unbelievable as an AMR, though I don't know how happy he will be on the bench as he's a moody sod.

You'll need to bid at least 50M before Betis even consider. Unless he's been transfer listed or something, and I've never seen that happen.

Oh, and, I can get Wright-Phillips for 5M, because City got relegated.

My current right midfielders are Ljungberg and Kalou. I'm Arsenal.

Shall I sell Kalou to get SWP? Or would it be better to just stick with Salomon? I don't think I'm going to sell Ljungberg, he had a 7-20-7.76 season last season. And he's also Arsenal through and through (H)

I like the idea of one more English player in my first team squad, what do you reckon?

I also got Wright-Phillips for my Ajax squad just this year and he is not amazing or anything. He is just decent and there are other players that are better than him.

SWP was excellent for me in my ManUtd game. (I bought him from Juventus for 24 mil in 2008) In the first season for me he had something like 10-15-7, 8.33 rating.

I think he would play great in English football.

Jan Kristiansen has put in some excellent performances as a winger, not for United, but for Sevilla. He's been influential in victories against Barca, Juve, and a few other big teams. For me he's a consistent 9 rating player. In the last 6-7 games the lowest he's been is an 8. Good player, and shouldn't cost very much. In 2004 he cost me about 2mil pounds. He's obviously not as good as Cristiano, but he's a backup, and can definitely do the job well.

If anyone has a similar problem...

Hossan Kaebi is WONDERFUL in the FM Sorted update. Hopefully it should be the same for the original database. Cheap as 1 mil, and potential around 170. His age is around 20 also.

Derek Riordan. He's like 750k.

He'd probley battle him for the starting spot, he's the dog's bollocks.

I thought the question was "does anyone know WHO Aimar is"... Haha...

As I said, Jan Kristiansen is a player who is very cheap and can do well. His performances are much better than his stats show.
