I think Heskey's best position is striker - a target man, just as he plays for Liverpool.

I think you guys are nuts, Beckham is world class, sure there are better right wingers in Europe (ie Figo) but I can't name many English right wingers better than Beckham. They only close ones would be McManaman and Kieron Dyer, appart from those two no one else comes close.

You guys are being TOTTALY biased against Beckham just because he plays for ManU. It is true that he has many faults on his game (slow, inconsistent, bad dribbling), but England should thank the heavens for having such a player. If he had chosen to play for the Spurs or Arsenal he would be (edit)considered one of England's best ever players by the general public.

Yes, that's a distinction I hadn't thought about; Beckham as a right-sided midfielder rather than a right winger. However, Man U usually play a 4-4-2, and Beckham's on the right side so I called him a winger even though he doesn't, like you pointed out, run with the ball and attack like Figo or Giggs.

Neutral: I think that is because most of us think of symetrical tactics... ManU plays assymetrical, like other teams. I started to realize this at 100% when I started playing USM 98.

The problem with Cole is different... he plays well in strings of 3/4 matches... then he returns to darkness. At the international level, he must play very well on a night...

Andy Cole is a club player that is it..........not worth having in an international squad.

He is world class - don't forget he was voted the third best player in the world a few years ago, and while I personally don't think he's in the top 3, nor top 5 for that matter, he is undoubtedly one of England's best players.

Sure, if you want to call him a one trick pony that's fine, but so was Gary Lineker - he couldn't dribble, he wasn't fast, he couldn't tackle, he was practically useless when not inside the 18 yard box, but he could do one thing well - be in the right place at the right time and finish (okay, so that's two).
