View Full Version : RAM Problems
nadsag 16-08-2005, 09:33:AM While I was playing my game I suddenly recived a pop-up window which said that my CPU RAM is "Dangerously Low" and that I have to quit the game.
Have you ever recived this kind of massage? How can I fix it?
Thank's!
your CPU ram. Hmmm i am not sure what it means. It could be many things.Give us a description of your PC (CPU,RAM,HD,WindowsXp Pro i guess). Some suggestions are that you close un-needed/wanted applications (don't think it will help unless there are many applications running in the background taking up your free memory.), try increasing your Virtual memory,it could even be a virus or a fault in your system. Unless it's not what i said at first (many apps running on background) i don't think you need to buy extra RAM or new CPU.
And what Database size you have at FM? FM requirments on RAM at large databases are quite big
PSVFOREVER 16-08-2005, 10:43:AM When I still had 256mb RAM, I got this message quite often when I had FM, windows mediaplayer and some internet windows on. So close any open applications. You can solve it too by getting more RAM, it is really cheap these days.
nadsag 16-08-2005, 12:36:PM I have Intel Pentium 4, 2.80 GHZ, 512 MB RAM, Nvidia Geforce FX5200(128 RAM) and I'm playing on Huge database(Now it's the 2006/2007 season with Villarreal).
There are no applications running on the background.
If this information helps, please try to help me...Thank's!
rpvankasteren 16-08-2005, 01:25:PM How many leagues have you selected at startup? 1 or 2 leagues should be ok on huge database and 512 MB RAM. I'd stick to normal size though, with 512 MB. I stick to normal size with 768 MB actually. No problems when running up to 8 leagues.
Also: have you got a lot of additional graphics added to your game? FM really demands a lot of RAM, especially if you also have a sh*tload of logos, kits, and faces.
nadsag 16-08-2005, 02:51:PM I think I am playing with 21 leagues opened at huge size.
If I will upgrade the memory to 1024 MB RAM, will it work?
tracertong 16-08-2005, 03:30:PM I think I am playing with 21 leagues opened at huge size.
If I will upgrade the memory to 1024 MB RAM, will it work?
Yes - you need at least a gig of ram these days for the games coming out as well.
rpvankasteren 16-08-2005, 04:08:PM 21 leagues at huge size (H)
I reckon you'll need closer to 2 GB to run that :(
Socrates 16-08-2005, 04:49:PM Holy hell 21 leagues with huge db do you really need that??? lol i usually just have 1 league with small db (C)
Also i have 512 MB RAM but sometimes FM still goes slow, like the 2d match it starts to get slow if i am playing FM for too long, anyone know what the problem is for this?? so ruud your saying that if i delete some additonal graphics the game would run faster right?
Zlatan 16-08-2005, 05:19:PM Yep you need a **** load of RAM if you want Huge DB and 21 leagues.
Good thing I might get a new computer I might try that aswell some day.
The Kop Kid 16-08-2005, 05:45:PM LMAO. Why in God's name would you want 21 leagues running!? Just cut the number of leagues down Nadsav. Substantially. You won't have the problem then.
PSVFOREVER 16-08-2005, 06:10:PM Take it down to 8 leagues on normal I'd say. 2.8gHz and 512mb looks good to me.
I play 5 leagues on large with my 768mb RAM, I prefer a fast game over all those leagues
nadsag 16-08-2005, 06:53:PM By 21 leagues I mean leagues, not nations.
But how can it be that I got to the 2006/2007 season and it suddenly appered? I did not get any message like that before this time.....
oh 21 leagues on huge database with 512?!??!!? You must wait about a day to load lol....
anyway i don't really see the point of having 21 leagues but if you really can't live without it i suggest you upgrade your ram. Buy at least 1gb more close all apps on background (Antivirus software etc.) and increase your Virtual Memory. Don't eat up too much space of ur Hard disk with garbage as that always slow down the pc and give less room for Virtual Memory.
Good luck with it but if i were you i would settle with 10 leagues and huge database and i would only upgrade to 1gb.
rpvankasteren 16-08-2005, 10:20:PM so ruud your saying that if i delete some additonal graphics the game would run faster right?
Yes, it would start faster and there will be more RAM available for FM itself. You'll only get good improvements if you delete huge amounts of images though.
nadsag 17-08-2005, 05:56:AM How do I increase the virtual memory?
rpvankasteren 17-08-2005, 06:49:AM In XP:
Right click on 'my computer'
Select 'properties'
Select the 'advanced' tab
Left click on the top 'settings' button, in the 'performance' box
Select the 'advanced' tab
Left click on the 'change' button in the 'virtual memory' box on the bottom
You can change the numbers there, but you'll have to have administrator rights.
probably as ruud said you may have installed a patch so more graphics would have been added to the game. Or maybe more data is stored now and your PC can't handle them?
nadsag 17-08-2005, 07:51:AM I have upgraded my RAM to 1GB(No connection to the game....) and it still giving that massage....
how much virtual memory you have? Sounds weird to me that still it hasn't fixed. Well you may wish to try getting some more RAM (don't buy it ask for a friend or somewhere to give you another 512 even 1gb Ram), if the problem still exists (most likely it will) then it probably has to do with your system. Maybe try installing and running your game on another computer?
nadsag 17-08-2005, 01:17:PM It's still isn't working but thank's to evreyone of you for trying to help me!
I think I should give my CPU for a check-up at the CPU lab.....
PSVFOREVER 17-08-2005, 05:41:PM Have you opened task manager to see if you have a lot of programs running you dont know? You can often close a hell lot of them
Zlatan 17-08-2005, 06:52:PM ...and do a spyware check. Spyware slows FM down aswell.
dude just stop trying to play with 21 leagues on huge ddb :|
nadsag 18-08-2005, 12:41:PM But when I am going to task manager and trying to close a program it says that it might have unwanted results.......
nadsag 20-08-2005, 06:58:AM This is how the messages look
well of course. But it says it may have. Not that it will certainly have. So I suggest you send us a picture of your task manager and we can tell you some programs you can close.
nadsag 20-08-2005, 07:48:AM Here is my Task Manager photo, thank's for your help!
hmm that's too weird. You are running the vital processes for windows to run kaspersky antivirus(?) and 1-2 applications of your modem? or something like this. Well it seems to me like a virus or a system problem. Or that FM uses up a lot of memory due to 21 leagues.
nadsag 20-08-2005, 08:40:AM Lots of thanks everybody!
I will take my CPU to a check-up next week.
PSVFOREVER 20-08-2005, 10:50:AM The start button on the right site (H) It looks good :p
nah it doesnt look too weird to me either, your task manager that is.
TROD.
nadsag 20-08-2005, 01:52:PM It's because it's a hebrew Windows.

Right click on the desktop and change your resolution to be above 1024 x 768 than try to unclick the full screen.
I have my current resolution at 1280 X 1024 and it works for me.
Micheal Owen 10 26-09-2005, 09:20:PM does any one know how to change the font in FM?
wasn't that a post about memory problems :o
Zlatan 01-10-2005, 08:01:PM No it wasn't (H)
Anyway here's a guide made by Strawberry Blonde(SB) at the Susie forums about fonts.
