View Full Version : Our defence just threw it all away

The first 45 minutes seemed like we were going to break the bad run of 12 games without a win, and against Norway of all teams. But it's the same old story

THE WELSH DEFENCE ARE ******* ****. Two sloppy goals let in by defence as good as a third division side! If Germany's defence is bad then ours is even worse...

And then Giggs got himself sent off which makes things bad for the home match with Belarus. What did you other Welsh people on this forum (Bex7, Stevie-B, Andy if he's about) think of that? I think the defence is very slack and players like Davies shouldn't have been in the game from the start. Savage was only good in the first 10 minutes when he scored that cracker but he was piss for the rest. The ref was a bit ****e as well come to think of it...

Well we wouldn't have won anything from the game but for pride and after letting a lead slip twice and walk away empty handed is a massive disappointment!!!

CYMRU AM BYTH!!! CRAP AT PÊL-DROED!!!

Hey Welshmen... I thought that Norway would BE the TEAM yuo would BEAT.. But oh well, didn't happen.. :( What's up, anyways? Nearly all your players come from Premier League, and from the 1st Division.. There are some great youngsters too..

you guys are strange.

good luck next qualifiers. And good luck to Wrexham, I hope they will get out the slump they're in in the 2nd division. For some reason I don't like Cardiff City, but they are proving that if you do not spend, you don't win.... urrghh.

Hey -RR- long time no see!!!
I expected Wales to beat Norway and after 45 minutes we were brilliant, apart from the scrappy Norwegian equaliser.

But in the second half our defence were ball watching and daydreaming all the time. The second equaliser from Carew was slack marking and yet another case of Robbie Savage playing like a girl (well he does look like one). As for the third who was marking Frode Johnsen? Nobody. Who was on the near post? ******* Nobody...

The defence is playing so bad even Germany's defence looked more organised last Saturday. I don't know why Jenkins was played on the left when he's right footed, whereas we had Barnard on the bench who is left footed and could have played in the back instead of left wing.

Don't get me wrong, Savage's goal was an absolute cracker, but he did **** all throughout the match. But Davies is a waste of space, he should have been replaced a lot earlier. And why was Bellamy played on the right wing when Davies is more naturally right sided? I can't understand the team cos they are so badly organised and planned - they just don't give a **** when it comes to international level, and to add insult to injury Giggs played ****e and got sent off into the bargain! He didn't get the support from Jenkins on the left a lot - same for Bellamy cos Delaney was slow doing forward.

We need some drastic changes for the next game against Belarus, with our only intention now to get the first win in the Millennium Stadium and not have the hard to swallow fact of finishing bottom.

that is THE BEST match review I ever saw :) You know what, I'll save it and compare with other game reviews.. But yours should win top prize :D Ahh, I wanted you guys to win..

Robbie Savage? I thought he was a right midfielder for the MIGHTY (*cough cough*) Leicester (this year, at least)..

don't worry, wait for another qualifiers.. You've got a few talented youngsters, you should do better in the Portugal 2004.

Here's how I rated the team for that performance...

1) Paul Jones
He didn't have much to do in the first half when we had the game under control. Made some good saves when called into action but he was let down by the defence for all three goals.

2) Mark Delaney
Didn't have a bad game at the right but he was too slow at times to support Bellamy on the wing when going forward. Riise had him ragged most of the time, but he needs to wake up!

3) Steve Jenkins
Had a bad game even though he isn't a natural left sided player. He kept hitting long balls which we were never going to win, and he also was too slow to close down the attackers.

4) Rob Page
He didn't do too bad in the first half, but in the second half he got really slow and outplayed by Solskjær. Where was he when Frode Johnsen got the header for the winning goal???

5) Kit Symons
Had a great game considering the rest of the defence was daydreaming all the time. He contained John Carew for most of the match and took him out of the game apart from the second Norwegian goal.

6) Carl Robinson
Had a quiet game, but he was yet another player who was frequently ballwatching. However he did make a cracking goalline clearance at 2-2.

7) Robbie Savage
Incredible goal in the first few minutes but he was pants for the rest of the game. He was always ballwatching and playing hopelessly sloppy balls. Should have cleared the ball before the second Norwegian goal but his booking means he's out for the Belarus game.

8) Craig Bellamy
Played a good game in the first half - he had the defence chasing him a lot but he didn't get the support from Delaney on the right and from midfield. But great striker's instinct to get the rebound for the second goal. Second half was quiet because of the poor service.

9) John Hartson
He made a big difference with his return and won a lot of balls in the air, especially the chest down to Giggs' shot that led to the goal. He was having trouble trying to get the better of Henning Berg but he also didn't get the support or space.

10) Simon Davies
He was poor against Armenia and the same again today. He was always watching the ball and made a lot of unforced errors. I didn't know why he wasn't substituted earlier than after the third Norwegian goal.

11) Ryan Giggs
Played fine for the first 10 minutes and set up the goal, but he couldn't find his touch and frustration set in. The first yellow card was petty but he didn't do any favours by getting red for a tackle from behind. He also didn't get any help from Jenkins on the overlap, but it wasn't all pressure on him this time. He'll miss the Belarus game and the first game of the EC2004 qualifiers

The subs (Robinson, Blake, Jones) didn't get much of a look in the game, especially as some of our lads were getting rather tired near the end. But I think a defender should have been brought on though.

Another three points wasted, and 13 games without a win. That's "relegation" material!!! Once some of our decent players are back we can try and look forward to the EC2004 campaign next year and try and start over again.

RussianRocket - Wrexham, the way they're playing are surely heading for Division 3 cos they won't spend on decent players and laying off good ones. I agree with you, Cardiff City sucks!!!

I don't like Cardiff because they just overspend.. Even Spartak Moscow didn't spend that much this year as Cardiff.. That will HURT them really bad, and that's why I do not like them much.. They ARE in the top of the division though, but if they don't promote this year - they ARE PATHETIC. End of story.

as for the Dragons (I like the new nickname..), they are completely opposite Cardiff, and that's why it will hurt them too.. You don't release the better players when they are eager to stay at the club and the club is definately not the richest club in the division. And the youth academy - millions of dollars went into it, and the status of it is preserved for another year, but I don't dissagree with those fans who are a little dissapointed with the number of quality players it brings.. Don't get me wrong - Wrexham academy is probably THE best in the 2nd division, but 2nd division is competetive enough so that you cannot survive on your resources.
