Well,

I don't know about you guys, but when I watch a football game, I always like to hear the fan chants, especialy when the tension of the game gets high and such, but unfortunately I find football games thus far, severely lacking in the sound department.

That's when I decided to do something about it and I started hunting the net for real fan chants from around the world to import them into my Fifa Game. I was very satisfied with the results so far and then I said to myself, why not share my work with other fifa users who would want those sounds in their game too?

So here I am then, with my first Sound Pack, format is compatible with both Fifa 2005 and Fifa 06 (once the latter will have a proper chant importer you can use them) and I post this on both Fifa 2005 and 06 forums.

Ok, I managed to squeeze my second sound pack online and it is dedicated to my favorite team AC MILAN.

In comparison to my first Genoa sound pack who was about 8MB big, this one contains 26 high quality recordings of Milan chants and weighs aboutl 30MB in a compressed Rar archive.

Since it is temporarely stored, at least until I find a site that wants to host it, on my personal webspace, be patient if the download seems a bit slow, it is worth it :)

The files are in EA's native format and are not in normal .asf sound format, only way to hear them is by importing them into creation centre or Fifa itself.

I could have put them into regular mp3's but I already converted them to Fifa's format on purpose :)

So is it working or not? because the EA asf sound format changed for Fifa 2005 and above, I had an old player for the older Fifa titles but it didn't support the converted mp3's through Creation Centre anymore since Fifa 2005, if it doesn't work in your Gap player try importing them in CC, it works perfectly here both in cc and ingame...

hmmm, I don't think you understood me, it is normal that ditty and gap don't play my asf files as the Electronic Arts .asf format has changed, those old player/converters don't support the new asf format!

If you open creation centre 2005 and import them there in the chants tab (like I wrote in the readme.txt), or even using chant raptor from soccer access, they do work! Try it, you'll see...

I tested on 3 different machines, and everything is working perfectly, in fact my Fifa 2005 chants.big file is close to 1GB now, I even have chants for my custom Serie C leagues, and they are all in the same format...

but this old player support Fifa 2006 asf files, because I playing original asf files in game with GAP

k, you know what? Just tell me if it works ingame or not, ok? Import with creation centre and it should work.

EDIT :

In case you didn't understand yet, this is how I work : I import the edited mp3 (with mp3gain, Direct MP3 Joiner & Splitter) into Creation Centre 2005, it gets converted to .asf by the internal CC converter who uses a different compression method than older tools like ditty.

For that reason my files cannot be played with said tools, but work perfectly when played in CC and of course during regular gameplay in Fifa 2005 (and they will also in 06 when the proper import tools will be released) when they are imported ingame.
I even imported sound files from the Fifa 06 demo chants.big in Fifa 2005 this way, and it works perfectly.

Like I said in a post before, I use this compression method on purpose, because there is no way to listen to the files otherwise than in CC or Fifa and there is no way to reconvert them back to .wav or .mp3, I am a very paranoïd person, and that way I know my files won't be abused easily, compare it to a kitmaker who puts his name in big fluo letters on his kits... that way no one can say they are their own, same goes for my sound files.

And finaly there is no way ever that I'll use anything else than my favorite tools to make my sound packs, this is a hobby, not a job where some boss tells me how to work, I might change my mind if I get cash though :P

If you don't have CC or don't like to use it try importing them with chant raptor, that should work also, although I haven't tested that program with my files...

*.c05 files are complete external teams that you can import into Fifa or export out of Fifa, those have nothing to do with the chants.

Open Creation Centre, on the left side of the screen there are icons representing the leagues inside your game, click on Italian Serie A, a window will open, in that window choose AC Milan, a new window will open again where you will see the players list of AC Milan team.

On top of that window are several tabs, formation, assets, ect... choose the chants tab, that is where you can import and export chants in creation centre. You need either version 1.1.0.18 or 1.1.0.24 of creation centre, version 1.1.0.27 will not work as it hasn't got a chant importer incorporated to remain compatible with uefa champions league game.

You can also use Chant Raptor program by SoccerAccess to import the files one by one, just remember to make my ACMilan01.asf file an intro and the rest are generic files.

Yours shows only UEFA Champions League because you linked your CC to that game and not to Fifa 2005, and no these chants are not compatible with UEFA CL game, only with Fifa2005 and 06 (same file format) but to function in 06 they need a similar importer as chant raptor or CC, which for obvious reasons is not released yet.

Although technicaly they should work inside the demo if you replace one of the milan sound files by mine, renaming it exactly as the one you replace mine with, it should work, I don't know since I deleted the Fifa06 demo, I prefer my modified Fifa2005 atm, I'm waiting for the full game.

Thank You Andy for your excellent tutorial, I just read the english version and for people wanting to import my files into the Fifa 06 demo if you follow the explanations of Andy in his tutorial (just skip the converting part since my files are already in the correct format) you should be able to hear them also in the Fifa 06 demo!

At least I hope so lol, keep me informed if they work or not, and what you think about them, volume wise, quality ect... your feedback will help to make my next packs better!

Strangly, it costed me even more research work than the Real Madrid one, as there are many many sites dedicated to the Reds on the net, but very very few have other sounds available than yet another version of the "You'll never walk alone" anthem.

Nevertheless, I managed to still make a pack, but I'm a bit dissapointed as I thought LFC had more potential and material available to make a bigger and even better sound pack from.

If you're a LFC fan and you have other chant recordings (even raw recorded material I can edit) available, please send them to my e-mail adress included in the sound pack readme.txt, I'll eventualy make a larger version 1.1 of this pack if I get enough material and your name will appear in my credits.

For the people requesting the chants in mp3, if you read the posts in the entire thread you will read why I post them in .asf format that is not possible to revert back to another format, even with ditty importer and other tools.

On a sidenote, all "source" files were not in mp3 format to start with, I had to reconvert and edit .ra .ram .wav and more exotic audio formats to .asf (EA format) before they were useable in many of my sound packs.

I especialy received a lot of requests to realise, amongst other requests, a Manchester United sound pack and new Polish team sound packs. The Man Utd pack was already in my planning and I should make that one somewhere in the next two weeks maximum, so bare with me it's on the way.

As for the Polish teams I definitely would like to make others like Legia Warsawa and other teams since my Wisla Krakow pack is until now my most downloaded one, but I will need some help!

Unfortunately I don't understand a word of Polish and the Polish internet is like a labyrinth for me, I have lots of trouble to find the stuff I need to make my Polish packs :) I would be very grateful if the Polish football fans who use my packs would send me some links or sound files to work with.

Also, I am planning to release sound packs for the "lesser gods", with this I mean I'd like to release sound packs for teams from second, third or even fourth division! An Italian football fan for example send me a bunch of files from his local team FC Prato, who plays in Serie C2 atm, and it is excellent material!

Of course I realise that it will not be as popular as releasing, for example, a FC Barcelona pack, but I have a tremendous respect for the lower division football fans who follow their teams every week, no matter the weather or the distance they have to travel, no matter the position of their team in the rankings, imho they embody the true fan spirit, and I like that a lot. They deserve their sound packs also!

So as you can see, I have absolutely no preference, and if you would like me to make sound packs for your favorite teams, around the world, keep sending me links, files, requests, ect ect

Remark: This sound pack does not contain the official FC Bayern hymn “Stern des Südens” as use of this song is forbidden explicitly by Bayern München, and I respected that request.

Lol, first of all calm down, I didn't steal anything, those Rapid Wien
chants are freely downloadable on the net on diverse fan sites and secondly
I don't make money by makeing these sound packs for fifa as you can read in the readme.txt of my packages so good luck going to court.

Oh, and thirdly, fan chants on a football match are never copyrighted,
every peep can go record the chants on a match, edit them at home and
publish them on the net, unless the ultras sing the latest Madonna hit
record, which I seriously doubt they do...

Oh, and btw I'm going to publish your mail in my threads, just to show you

Remark : GFO was a (very good) German fifa fansite, it has been down for months now and they never released a Rapid Wien sound pack, if you wonder what he meant in his mail, and if needed I can provide the url's of the pages where I got the chants from, in fact read the credits in my readme.txt, I always mention my sources.

Okay, so fortunately the most e-mails I get are from people thanking me and giving me motivation and encouraging me to continue making my sound packs, and I do make them to make everyone's game more enjoyable, not to make money!

I don't make a dime from them and I am not affraid of those stupid threats, but if I get more e-mails like the above one I don't know if I will continue, because it is not worth the trouble and I don't want to get into arguements over something I do as a hobby to begin with, not as a job.

As I expected, instead of being able to work on my next sound packs I got follow up mails from my good friend, since I published the first ones in this thread I am not going to hold back the next ones in a series :

Ok, you want to play the copyright game? Then you should tell your lawyer
to close down all the websites I mention in the readme.txt of my sound pack
because I am not aware of a Rapid Wien CD, hell it should not be even
available in my country so far I know, I got all my files from those sites
as free downloads available to everyone, and I can provide the correct URL's
if needed.

You should attack them instead of me, I'm just makeing a free add-on for a
computer game not makeing a dime from it but instead getting into trouble
with disturbing people like you.

I also doubt you are someone from Rapid Wien SK club as they would have
contacted me in a more fashioned manner, but if you are, you should be
thankful instead of getting on my back for giving your club free publicity!

Maybe I should send a mail or heck even phone to Rapid Wien to check if your
name is on their payroll...

Btw, if I get a proper request from SK Rapid Wien football club itself, I

I'm happy we can talk about this in a more civilised manner and I understand
what you just wrote about someone (me in this case) publishing a sound patch
for Rapid if you were about to do that also. I apoligise if my previous
mails hurt your feelings but I felt beeing attacked for no reason and as I
result I was maybe to harsh in my responses too.

But believe me when I say that everything in my sound pack can be found
freely on the web, you can easily find all URL's yourself if you use google
or another search motor and type "+Rapid Wien +chants +fangesänge +sounds
mp3 wav wma ra"
I don't want to give the exact url's myself as I'm not the "informer" type
of guy but if you do the above you will easily find them.

Several (fan)sites will show up where you can download the material (a lot
more than what's included in my pack even) and I do make sure I don't
include copyrighted material, as an example I didn't include the official
Bayern München anthem (Stern des Südens) in my Bayern pack because that team
explicitly forbids it on their website.

I understand you're mad because I made a sound pack for Rapid just before
you were about to release yours, but I don't see that as a problem really
and I hope you understand that I couldn't have been aware of that fact, just
release yours also and the people can freely choose which one they'll use.

And since you spend so much money on yours, it should be a lot better than
mine, all I did was take the raw sounds, edit the volume and characteristics
and convert them to EA's .asf format but I can assure you my pack is my work
not someone's elses.

Honestly, I understand your arguments and I respect your work but I don't
see a reason to ask the different webmasters to remove my file from their
servers, I don't see it posing a threat to your sound pack, I think most
people even already forget about my RW pack as it is one of my least popular
ones (looking at the number of downloads) and I already made 15 other ones
that include sounds from other clubs and my 17th will be ready soon.

I wish you good luck on your present and future creations and since you work
with GFO (a real good site that I like much for their Bundesliga kits and
stuff) it should be a great success and I'm looking forward to your work.

No, I wasn't gone on a holiday or something, I'm working on three new sound packs atm and I expect to release them all as next week arrives.

Also I have good news and bad news!

The good news is that my Ajax sound pack is finaly available for download on both Breamster and Soccergaming. There were problems with Filefront earlier this week and they are solved now, so enjoy my first dutch sound pack.

The bad news is that EA changed the chants file structure yet again for the full game of Fifa06, that I finaly found in my mail yesterday, this implies my chants will only work if you follow exactly what is depicted in Andy's tutorial but according to some users, by doing so you will not be able to enjoy the game's default sounds for the time being.

Andy359, myself and other sound patchers are busy looking into the problem and trying to find a workaround or a way to fix this asap, hopefuly I'll have good news soon. Note that there is no problem whatsoever in Fifa2005 and Fifa06 demo, those still work flawlessly.

When Andy updates his tutorial for the full game I will ask him if I can include it in my new packs and I will update my instructions and readme files according to the latest procedures.

Of course I hope Soccer Access will release a decent chant importer like they did last year and then all the problems will be solved and you will be able to enjoy all the packs in full glory in combination with the default sounds.

Well we didn't come up with a waterproof fix for Fifa06 full game yet, we're no programmers but only sound makers, we'll keep looking but a sound importer program would be welcome, please spam Socceraccess and Ariel Santarelli to create one, that's what we really need :)

After 12 days of struggling with the new file system of the chants in Fifa06 full version, without satisfactory success, I decided to resume working on my sound packs and hope a proper chant importer will be made soon because I'm fed up with the chant system in Fifa06.

During those 12 days I have tested every possible way to make my new custom chants cohabit with the existing generic chants inside Fifa06 but nothing worked, the only way to import my and other sound makers chants and enjoy them in the new Fifa is (for the time being) to delete everything in your chants.big file and get rid of the default Fifa chants (method described in Andy's tutorial), you can read more about it in this thread :

Not everything was negative during these 12 days though as I made contact with other sound patchers, like for example Sander from Fifa International, and there has already been mention of future co-operation for big sound patches in the future (Once the damn importer or raptor is available) in our mail correspondence with each other.

When I play Fifa 2005 with national sides, there is one thing that kept annoying me was that during the intro you saw both teams standing next to each other but absolutely no sound was heard and during the matches there was no great atmosphere.

No more!

Now that the national sides will play a more important again, since the World Cup is coming next year, I decided to make you a Mega National Teams pack #1 and since this is for a game, I included non qualified teams also!

It is now up to you to qualify them anyway and change history and now you will have fan chants support to help you!

Just wondering Billy.Can you change the pitch entering song of ECC matches with the UEFA Champions League anthem?

Well, in theory you could and I already played with the thought of making a pack with league intros and the CL music. And in Fifa2005 it would be easy and no problem at all to achieve, you just add the .asf file to the team, put it as an introduction chant and there you go.

Unfortunately EA changed the chant/speech/music system a lot in Fifa06 and one of the changes involves the intro music you hear. I will compare both games to show you :

- Fifa2005 : Introduction music starts as soon as you see the players move onto the field, this start time, until the kick off takes between 44 and 48 seconds, depending on the stadium you play in.

- Fifa06 : A generic music starts as soon as you see the players move onto the field and plays for 30 seconds (until you see the formations appear on your screen with in the background a high shot of the stadium), then, depending on what is assigned to the team in the audio.big file, starts the introduction music or chants or background public noise and this takes exactly 18 seconds before kick off.

As you can see there is not a lot of time left for an intro song/chant/music...

There is however a way to make the intro time 48 seconds again but the cure is worse than the disease in this case :

You have to delete every single chants.bin line, that has event code "14"(music) using Sound Master, this way, the chant file you assigned to code "18" 'introduction) will play the full 48 seconds like it did in Fifa2005,

However

This will only be the case for the teams that you assigned an intro chant for! For all the other teams there will be no sound at all until kick off, meaning that you will have a perfect full crowded stadium that remains silent as a graveyard.

Conclusion : EA made the sound department of their game better in some areas (this year you can have supporters of both teams singing at once and you have player and event based chants), but worse in others (introduction sounds ect)

Well, it's not that overly complicated.

Since you have the anthems in mp3 format, first you need to reconvert them to .wav format

You should be able to find some good freeware convertors from mp3 to wav on tucows.com

Once you have one that you like convert your mp3's to wav

First of all you need a good sound editor, note that a good editor doesn't necessarely mean an expensive one. You can use the one that comes with Sound Master 06, Audacity, and since you'll need Sound Master 06 anyway get it! :)

Import the .wav files with Sound Master 06 and attach them to your teams (read the help file of SM06, or check my tutorial to get an idea how this works)

Once they are imported, select the imported anthems one by one and open them with audacity (the edit button inside SM06), there you have to reduce them to between 44 to 48 seconds, so pick for each song, a fragment of the anthem that starts nicely and ends nicely in that time period and delete what comes before and after it in audacity, then save the changes.

Note that audacity will save the modified files in .wav format to the temporary folder you specified in Sound Master 06. Once you have edited all, exit and save the modifications in SM06.

Now, reopen Sound Master and pick import from wav, browse to your temp folder where audacity saved the modified anthems, reimport them, exit and save again and you're done, your teams have anthems now when you start the matches :)

Note that the procedure is different for teams that already have anthems or intro sounds and this is a rough tutorial on how to add anthems for new added national teams only, club teams are different also.

I'm especialy proud of this pack as it is my first out of Europe one, and I really like the result. I must admit, when Guille, a great Boca supporter, send me his chants along with his request, I didn't know much about the fan chants in the Argentinian competition, well about chants outside of Europe in general even.

Well, I can recommend it as a must have download for every fifa player, this is my heaviest (35Mb) pack but also my best to date, I can't stop playing the BJ's now lol!

It could be the sampling rate of your wav, check if it is different from the sampling rate of already existing chants. You can do this with Audacity included in the Sound Master 06 package.

I had this once when I closed Sound Master 06 too quickly when I thought it had already saved my modifications but it hadn't yet and that corrupted my audio.big file (inside Program Files/EA Sports/Fifa06/data/audio folder) and I didn't hear anything anymore, not even the "EA Sports, it's in the game" intro, so I had to restore my old audio.big file (if you didn't make a backup, fear not, it's on the CD/DVD)

Now, talking about this particular problem, I want to warn the people that install all my packs that once the chants.big (mine is well over 1 gigabyte now) gets bigger it takes more and more time to save in Sound Master 06 after modifications, the safest way is to click exit in the menu, answer yes when the save now? message pops up and let it save, the program will close itself once it is done then, and this can take some minutes, depending on the size of the chants.big and the speed of your computer.

If the sound is still too low, you need to edit your original .mp3 files with a program like for example "mp3gain" to raise the base volume to around 95 to 100 db and import them again.

I already have the Ambient Sounds Patch installed... and listening to my new anthems using Audacity, there is no noticeable difference from listening to any other anthem... (sigh) I think I'll go make a few boots.

There is more news! As I was busy makeing and reworking my FC Porto sound pack to version 2.0, I bumped into the physical limits of Fifa06 regarding to the sound and chants department.

I expected to find out sooner or later how many chants I could add before the chants.big file would get to big and unfortunately I already found out, and you can read about it in my FAQ I put up on my homepage. Reading it will save you a lot of trouble should you reach the file limit when importing many of my sound packs. Fifa2005 users have the same limit but can import far more chants as there weren't any default EA ones in their chants.big yet :)

I had to delay my Porto pack for a day, to make my FAQ and it's answers instead, but normaly I should upload it tomorrow of Friday the latest.

Yes I had the infamous .dll error that wouldn't install the patch but I found a way to install it manualy and it's easy to setup and remove, I thought it was appropriate for a Polish team :)

The commentary for all my games seems to start after the introduction. Maybe you could give me some tips or hints as to how to attack this, becuase I have NO idea. I followed your tutorial to a T, but i dont understand how i would have affected the commentary. Is there anywhere else sound files are kept other than the audio folder in the data folder?

Check the reference lines for Rooney and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, those should be Player Chants instead of Team chants, also check if you referenced the chants to the right player (check the id), you should hear "Rooney, Rooney (x3) when he scores and "Ruud Van Nistelrooy shalalalala" when RVN scores normaly.

To release the whole thing would mean releasing a 1.09 Gigabyte file, Fifa sound system crashes if the sound file grows bigger than that. I already have to delete some packs to test new ones, ect, it's more work than before due to that

I don't know where I could upload such a huge file :) and I have still lots of teams to do to finish the EPL, in fact most of them. (only did L'Pool, ManU, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal and I have Charlton, Villa and WHU planned in the next month(s), depending on how many chants I can find, the English teams and fan clubs don't put many chants online, compared to Italy where I find chants for even Serie C2 clubs (fourth division) by the dozen.

The first question and answer describes why you have that situation occuring.

This situation happens when people are not reading the instructions properly or are in a hurry, and is due to a sound master program bug when you close the program before it has done saving, corrupting your sound files, crashing your game, frying your motherboard, opening the gates of hell, starting a nuclear holocaust UNLESS you took a backup of your chants.big and audio.big files, you did take a backup did you? Ok that was dramatic but you get the drift I guess :)

Anyway, besides my Lazio pack I also uploaded a user friendly tutorial made by my German friend Stefan "Franz" Wenzl in powerpoint, in both german and english, after seeing those, the people who still don't understand how to import chant packs into Fifa should feature in the next Dr. Phil show.

It should be available soon and I will post the link in this thread.

Well that one beats me, I tried every possible way of importing those into 06 but it just won't work unless the facemakers adapt the "rhino point files" in Oedit to the new Fifa06 format, as I read somewhere on a board, whatever that means as in the graphics and facemaking department I have no clue whatsoever.

Every unconverted face I tried give the black face bug or invisible or distorted faces, some people got some faces to work though, but when we checked our equipments those people all had ATI cards, for Nvidea people like me none of the old faces worked, so ist it a graphic driver bug, a rhino point file bug or a combination of the two I don't know.

Ok well thanks for the answer it's the same for me the players get a black face :(.

I am now busy making my Aston Villa sound pack, could someone inform me of which intro song they play before the match starts (besides the EPL music), I found chants no problem but I can't seem to find the Villa hymn or club song anywhere, I appreciate any help I can get, this is rather urgent, because if I can't find it in the next 48 hours I will be forced to release the pack "as is" with just the EPL tune and no club hymn, thanks http://www.breamster.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Those are the requests I finish, for the most part I received files and links for them, maybe I'll skip those I haven't had anything for. Anyway those that will appear as planned after US Lecce, the last team in the requested pile, I will only make those teams I receive files for.

60% of my sound pack work consists of researching the chants on the net, and for some teams it's really looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes and I lose heaps of time I could be spending making the packs themselves.

I would like to finish as many teams as possible before Fifa07 shows up, I hope you understand. If you have Spurs chant files or links please send them, you get to get into my credits also.

BTW, still no Villa intro song, I'm starting to test the pack tomorrow and mayvbe upload it the day thereafter, Villa fans it's up to you if the club hymn is included or not :)

I started working on the Celtic Glasgow sound pack, unfortunately I didn't find many fan chants recordings, tons of fansites, tons of mp3's with songs and music but not many fan chants, so if you have some and want me to include them please send them to my mail venomb2k@skynet.be I'll add you to the credits of the pack smile.gif If I don't get a few more chants minimum it's going to be a very small pack I fear.
