guys keep an eye on australias number 1 keeper. aleks vrteski.

i actually do know the guy. he was our goalkeeper at school where we competed against other schools all over the state of western australia. with him in goals we scored 14 goals and conceded 0. he is a tall guy and a great prospect.

wolverhampton tried to sign him up but because he was under the age of 18 they couldnt complete the transfer!

come on australia!!!

fuuny thing is that I never heard of any of these Brazilians, and I never hear about them after this tourney....do you remeber anyone from 2 years ago? I remember Adu getting owned by Brasil, but he's the only one.

man look out for the feyenoord youth players, they are really good!

Especially Diego Biseswar and Mitchel Schet, but Jordy Buys is a great defender

and Ghana player Erney Asante is really big talent

Just watch these two players from Brazil:

- Anderson, from Grêmio (the same team Ronaldinho played for the first time), a left (attack) midfielder with high class shoot and pass. The best brazilian player in the tournament by far. Clube do Porto already bought him for 5 million euros and he'll join them next year.

- Marcelo, from Fluminense, one of the best LB I've ever seen at this age.

Dan, **** Adu, we've got Q-Man and Jamil Walker (H)

Seriously though... we need him. Walker still plays 90 minute-games for the Reserves and Moreno is still suspended. DC doesn't have many forwards as it is.

Plus... he had a pretty dissappointing World Youth Championship. Mentally he wasn't ready for it... it's better he stays in DC.

Yes, just like most Mexicans I've heard about this "ronaldinho jr." , Giovanni Dos Santos. Sounds like our savior...our next Hugo, Cuau (H)

The fact is I've only seen or recognize is Ever Guzman, who plays for Morelia. My cousing is neighbors with this kid in MOrelia, Mich. (H) So far he's played a couple of minutes with the first team and looks good. Another good future.

Yes, just like most Mexicans I've heard about this "ronaldinho jr." , Giovanni Dos Santos. Sounds like our savior...our next Hugo, Cuau (H) Well, I'll say this, if he turns out like Hugo I don't want him anywhere near the national team. Hugo did **** with the national team, nothing anywhere near what he did at club level. Let's hope he turns out like Cuau without the crap attitude. :p

Giovani Dos Santos has a triple nationality. Mexican, Brazilian, and Spanish. He is Mexican-born though, from Monterrey to be exact.

#1 Stunna
11-09-2005, 01:56:PM
yeah, his dad was Brazilian and played in the Mexican league. Giovanni Dos Santos, along with his younger brother Jonathan, we're born in Monterrey, Mexico.

I've only heard of Giovanni, Guzman and Vela (Alex Vela's little brother). Supposedly after Giovanni, Carlos Vela is the mexican player with the biggest potential. Hes 16 and one step away from Chivas' senior squad.

We should have brought Adu. :(
I just did some quick checking and he wouldn't have been eligble as the fifa eligiblilty rules don't allow someone to compete in the U-17 world cup twice, add to that, he played in the world youth cup which also makes him ineligible.

This could also be a problem for Australias star player David Williams who went to the youth world cup also, yet didn't take part in any matches, so i'm hoping for Oz's sake he is allowed to play.

I have great hopes on this kid, seen some short videos of him and he seemed to have awesome skills.

Capitalism 3-2 Communism FT

It was far from a comfortable win for Capitalism, even though they were the favorites. The Capitalists looked in control early on, but the Commie offense proved to be a handful for the defenders. In the end, Capitalism won thanks to Preston Zimmerman's goal, but the team will need to do better if they want to get results against Cote d'Ivorie and Italy.

Why do you think they win everything U 17 and then nothing at the senior team?

Paulo Da Silva
20-09-2005, 09:39:PM
you see it is wuite obvious that these african teams players are older than what they actuallysay they are.

For instance Porto had a player in their juniour team last season.he was the younger bro of Amunike(nigerian international--retired) He was supposeldy 18 but ppl thought that was bull****, he had a full grown beard. After investigation the Nigerian Fa lied and he was actually 22. That got him kicked out of the team/

why do u think these african players tend to reach their peak earlier than others, cuz when they are 25 they are actually in their peak years aka 28-30 years old. That's why they also tend to fade away earlier than others. Again this isn't as evident now, but it did happen and still does

Vagegast

The Gambians looked in their 20s.

Clemens Westerhof, former coach of Nigeria, said that most of the players on the U-20 squad were older than they claimed. He also said John Owoeri is at least 2 years older than he claims to be.

USA beating Italy at the U-17 level is not much of an upset. In fact, a lot of people considered the US team the favorites in the group. Looks like they were right.

I was disappointed by USA's opening match but I'm much more confident after the Italy win. We played some seriously good soccer and the Italians never had a chance. We could definitely do without the goalkeeping gaffes though, two games in a row now.

Didn't see the Korea game...based on what I saw against Italy...

Purely on potential I would say Arvizu. The kid moves like a natural goal scoring machine and he's very direct about his approach.

Soroka looks like a tough little dude that knows how to finish and anticipate opportunities.

And even though the team is pretty good the GK is going to cost them a big game at this rate. I would have to replace him if he made another mistake.

The Dutch got fvcking lucky. All they did in this game was:

a) pass the ball back to their goalkeeper
b) foul US players every time they touched the ball

Motherfvckers broke Kevin Alston's leg. The only time they looked dangerous in attack was when the US threw everything forwards and left themselves exposed to counter-attacks.

The US played well and deserved a lot better than that. I'm proud of the way our kids played. They proved that the gap between the two sides is much smaller than many thought.
