I have very recently purchased a brand new PC. It runs at 3ghz, with 1022mb ram and it has a geforce 6800 PCI-E card installed. I downloaded the demo and ran it with all the settings maxed and it appeared to stutter slightly which i would not expect with this system. So, I set the AA to 4x and the AF to 4x and it ran much better. however, before I got to the end of a match, the screen froze and the sound just got jammed in a stupid stuttery loop forcing me to restart my computer. this has happened every time I have tried so I decided to reinstall Fifa 2005 and the same thing happened on that too!!

I have all the latest drivers so I really am running out of options. could it be the render every frame option? i used that on my last weaker pc and it didnt affect it at all. please can someone help?!!

yeah, i read that mate. mine is a slightly different problem though and with it happening on fifa 2005 too, it is obviously not a problem with the demo

Your problem sounds like a overheating problem, check if all your ventilator fans are working and monitor your temperature for a while with Speedfan or a similar program, I had the freezing problem with all 3D games due to overheating, in fact I had this with a new PC also, when I opened it, I found out the main motherboard fan was not mounted properly and was only working at 25% of it's capacity taking the temperature inside of my PC processor to a staggering 79C°!!

I mounted it as it should be myself and now at full workload (when recoding an avi file) it's at 60C° max, when playing games it's even lower and no more freezes, stuttering or anything.

Maybe this is not causing your problem but it's worth checking.
