So, what are the possibilities? In order for Switzerland to get at least 2nd place, they have to get 7 points (2 wins and a draw) in the remaining games (this way they'll have 18 points), wish Russia luck in the Slovenia game, and hope for a draw in Slo-Yugo game. Pretty tough, I say. What Russia need to do is to get 5 points out of the next 3 games, and I hope the Faroese will not put their whole squad in their penalty box for the whole match..

Very interesting group, by the way. From one point it looks as if though it is not challenging, but it actually is as challenging as any other group out there (maybe the 2nd and the 9th groups are the only ones that are more challenging)..

You might say that Yugoslavia are a great team but they're missing a lot of weapons like Bunjy and Mihajlovic. Stojkovic retired. Mijatovic, Milosevic, Drulovic, etc are past it. Their goals suck. But nontheless we should get a reassuring 0 points.

I really enjoy reading foolish statements made by people about other teams before a match. Simonius we are past it ? Milosevic and Drulovic aren't what they used to be ? Hehe.. Oh its got to hurt to know that those two very same players are the main reason why you lost. (Milosevic scored, and Drulovic set up a goal after a terrific cross.) My prediction is that Yugo will finish first, followed by Russia.. Currently we are two points behind Russia, with a better goal difference..Russia are known for late qualifier chokes (remember Euro 2000 ?) I am predicting that either the Faroe Islands (whom the Russians beat at home by only one goal scored in the 80th minute !) or the Swiss will take away two points from the Ruskies and thus leave Russia (counting on a Yugo win against Slovenia) tied with us but in second due to a worst goal difference. Besides, of all teams in our group Yugo deserve first place the most. Against the Swiss at home, Slovenia away, and Russians at home we played much better than our opposition but were very unlucky not to have won to due our opponents scoring a goal of their only chance.(Swiss scoring late due to a goalie's error, Slovenians tying in the last minute of the match a free kick, and Russians scoring late of a counter attack, right after one of our forwards missed a 100 % chance)

Don't get me wrong, the Yugoslavian national teams is one of my favourites. I have a lot of respect for most of the players because they've been successful through a very difficult time (the 90's).

One of my favourite players is Dragan Stojkovic and naturally Goran Bunjevcevic, as he plays for Spurs. :D

Oh ok well thats good that you like the Yugo nt.. ;) Tell me how has Bunjevcevic done thus far for the Spurs ?

Saint, everybody chokes on the small teams.. France choked on Andorra once, scoring the goal on the LAST MINUTE, by PENALY KICK and beat them 1:0 about 2 years ago.

Although I pretty much agree with some russian newspapers.. That if we don't beat the Faorese and the Swiss, we have nothing to do in Japan/Korea.

Russia isn't impressive this WC qualifiers, though. After we lost to Iceland last qualifiers, we WERE impressive.. But now.. I don't know how we beat the Yugos and the Swiss, really........


anyway. If we draw the Faroese, naah, sorry, I would happily stay in Russia and miss the WC.. If we beat the Swiss AND FAroese, then okay, sure.. BTW, the English referee gave us an underserved penalty in Slovenia on the last minute, and thus we lost. It wasn't our best game, but I think we deserved a draw, at least. oh well.

Slovenia-Yugoslavia game is tied now on the 56th minute, Russia just beat Faroe Islands...


So we have to beat the swiss now to qualify..

yeah, Staind rules - you noticed I have its logo amongst the music logos at the bottom on my pic? For some reason I still didn't buy the CD, but I will.. My favorite is "Outside", although a few dirty stuff can be imagined when listening to the lyrics.. I like the original one, the one that was sang live on the Family Values tour in 99 with Fred Durst.. There was only one acoustic guitar..Sounded great.

I recommend you Godhead and Disturbed; though they have absolutely nothing to do with Staind, they still rock.

So in order for us to get the 2nd place we need to lose to Switzerland at home (yeah right), and Slovenia to beat with a high score whoever they play.. And by the way, beware of our 18-year old, Izmailov, from Loko Moscow. This attacking midfielder is already Lokomotiv's leader, and he was the best played in Faroe Isles-Russia game which we won 3:0...

The Swiss are ****ed, Kuhn is a stupid ****er and this week Henchoz, Chapi and Pascolo retired from the national team.
